Mr Chan in Suffolk Coastal

I give up. We’ve given this place so many chances. Food was bland and swimming in sauce of some sort. The only thing I’d describe as ‘ok’ was the egg fried rice. Beef chow main was more like rubber and the sweet and sour was just awful. Extremely disappointing as they are the only Chinese in Framlingham.

Used Mr Chan’s on around 3 or 4 occasions so I think they’ve had enough chances but unfortunately the food has never been more than mediocre , our last visit recently really will be our last visit . It’s a real shame but our last takeaway really was dreadful , tasteless and bland . The beef had a faint taste of ginger but had a really unusual texture and the kung po chicken was unlike any I’ve had before , no onions peppers or cashews or chilli , just a weird tasteless bright orange sauce . The fried rice was ok .

It was delicious! I’m a regular and it’s just getting better, staff lovely(they always are, always so welcoming) food is always the best tasting. I’d say the best food in fram!

First time we have had a takeaway from here, and the last, nothing tasted 'chinesey' just bland and boring, the chicken was dry, the beef dish tasted like stew and the sweet and sour was neither, and it was pricey for the amount you got, not that it mattered the portions are small because we didn't finish any of it.

Very disappointing meal. Food was dry, chewy and sticky with few fresh ingredients, very unlike any other Chinese meal I’ve ever had. Barely any vegetables apart from a little cucumber. It’s not all nice and sadly, I don’t think we will be back. We keep trying this restaurant but it doesn’t improve

Had our 1st chinese takeaway since well before lockdown in June 22 and regretted it. No real taste to the dishes, textures weren't good: nothing really to commend it at all.

We really fancied a Chinese meal, our local restaurant was fully booked so decided to make the trip to Mr Chan. It was a good decision as we received great service and lovely food. Welcoming atmosphere, a few tables were in but not too busy. The chow meins were delicious as too was the squid and prawn balls. This was our first visit and will definitely be back again 👏🏻

Met friends here to have a meal. We sat on plastic chairs with tissue paper table cloth and wondered why we were the only table eating in on a Friday night. Portions where tiny for the price! Been there a hour and a half and instead of telling us politely they were closing at 9pm they turned the lights out and left us sitting in the dark. Extremely rude will not be returning.

Quick service. Food was very tasty, in fact the best Chinese I’ve had in a while. It was a bit on the pricey side but I’d definitely recommend.

Overall a very good time at Mr Chan's. The food was great, the staff were polite and helpful and it has a very nice atmosphere. The food overall was very good, hot and plenty enough of it. However, it took nearly an hour and a half for the starters to come out, which was annoying considering we were the only ones in the restaurant. Alcohol however was very expensive. Nearly £5 a bottle for asahi, which was pricy considering its 2 for £4 at the co-op.

Lovely takeaway from Mr Chan, very tasty, hot and quick service. Very nice Kung Po Chicken and beef curry. Will use again.

Far loo long to wait, an hour spent outside in car!!, after being told it would take an hour. Order was incorrect. Food ok but won’t be going again any time soon.

Usually I have good food from mr chans. But today I waited over an hour for food. And they forgot stuff off of my order. I understand they’re trying but I’m shocked the restaurant isn’t even open. I will say I won’t be going back. The amount of shouting that was happening back in the kitchen made the atmosphere uneasy

Lovely food didnt taste all the same like most Chinese takeaways just very small amount in each container

How people can rate this place great is beyond me it was not a good experience and I gave it a second chance and it was worse, first time the portion sizes were tiny, talk about trying to make the most money possible , yet charging much more then other chinese restaurants I have been too, second time the rice was inedible it tasted of actual cardboard smelt like a stinky fridge disgusting the whole meal had that stinky fridge odur.......also inside the decor is dated tired and in loved , I got there on opening and the carpet was full of bits not been hoovered , I dread to think what the kitchen must look like if this wAs the waiting and dining area, why should a place like this and sadly many other eating establishments in Framingham be able to take our hard earned cash for such a terrible service.

Really appreciated how friendly and helpful the staff were about allergies, especially when they were dealing with a busy Saturday night. Nice food too.

We were very regular customers. Our last visit was on a very busy Saturday evening. The service staff were obviously struggling. We ordered from the buffet and the a la cartel menu. Starters were fine but the main meals were cold when they arrived at the table and more than one item had to be repeatedly chased up. We ordered one dessert and after five minutes were told it would be a 30 minute wait because they were busy!! Perhaps they shouldn’t have kept seating more and more customers in the restaurant if they didn’t have enough kitchen staff to cope with the orders. Very poor experience meaning we are unlikely to return again.

Just consistently awesome. We keep coming back for more. Whenever we've done something we're proud of you'll find us in here, spoiling ourselves.

This is a popular favourite for locals especially the all you can eat buffet options - generally reasonably priced and standard fare - not ambitious in its offering but popular as it offers a takeaway option as well as sit in dining and can cope with large parties though they are well advised to book. It is definitely a first choice for many of the young people in the town and has many regular guests so this should be recommendation enough

Ok, we were running so late and everything else was closed. Having tried this place a few times before decided to give it another chance. It was far better than the previous times, a nice sweet and sour, rice was a little wet. Prawn toast had an unusual texture inside. It wasn’t bad, just unusual. But, honestly this was so much nicer than before. New chef, or just listening to the reviews? Polite and friendly when we went in, we will come back abd I really hope you continue like last night. The food was a million times better than normal. You have a captive market, people will use you if the foods good! We love Chinese food, but have avoided you the last year or so. A pleasant meal last night.

Used to use this place every few week but having had a few bad experiences we gave it a rest.Having retried it recently it's got a lot worse. The place does not smell very nice on entering and the food is simply rank.Go else where if you like good food.

lovely staff! chow mein is very good. chips portion size on the small size. Open on a sunday which is great, overall love our weekly chinese!

We ate here whilst staying nearby at the Castle. Staff were polite and friendly, and accommodated a number of us at short notice.Food was okay but not special. I can't complain too much however as we ended up eating here twice during our stay. I think the Curry was an interesting colour however, it wasn't what I was expecting. I do think it is on the expensive side for a Chinese, though I appreciate it possibly does not have much local competition!

No real atmosphere and very basic. Staff were lovely but food very average, we had ribs which were tasteless. The sweet and sour chicken was okay but more vegetable than meat in the plate. Would not recommend this restaurant.

We ordered for 4 adults and 2 children and thought all was fine. During the meal the waitress asked how old the children were (9 and 12). Just thought they were making friendly conversation.

Lovely resturant, with very friendly service and excellent food. The food were very presentable nicely decorated and very tasty. Definitely looking forward to coming back soon.

We ordered a meal for a family of 6 people, it was pleasant enough, no complaints from the children, albeit I found the chicken balls to be a bit short on chicken.

Got a takeaway with a bit of hope. We are locals and have tried here before. Meal was awful! Dry, tasteless and bland. It was hard to tell the difference between the overcooked, cardboard like chips, bland prawn balls and dry garlic mushrooms. Actually these were really unpleasant. It didn’t actually taste like Chinese food.

Had a really good value take away last night. Chow mein, pork balls, ribs and rice.Food hot and tasty. Quick and polite service.

I ordered 2x sweet and sours and I ordered DUCK pancakes. Came home to find there was only pancakes. I called up and they had no sympathy whatsoever, saying “I only thought you wanted pancakes”, why would I only want pancakes? I asked for DUCK pancakes. They charged me for the duck, and then refused to give me a refund. AVOID!

After reading the reviews we were tempted to swerve this restaurant.. We are so glad we didn't, yes it's a bit dated and not the greatest decor... however, the food was amazing. A nice selection on the Buffet Menu (order off menu not a cart) or you can order off the normal menu.. nice fresh hot food.. Very Impressed

After reading some of the reviews I was a little nervous about trying Mr Chans however as I was staying nearby with family and the majority wanted Chinese for a take out we gave it a shot and we were all pleased we did. Piping hot food and tasty. Lemon chicken and sweet n sour chicken balls all great. No left overs which says it all. Maybe it depends on the night and we struck lucky but worth a go!

After ordering a takeaway from here, we arrived home and opened what only can be described as, the most, awful, tasteless, in culinary meal I have ever had the misfortune of ordering. Having taken a reluctant and displeasurable taste of the so called ‘chinese’ I decided this has to be returned to the ‘chef.’ I placed a call and asked to speak to the proprietor, she eventually came to the phone, and I was met with a barrage of abuse, about my lack in knowledge of ‘Chinese food.’ After informing the owner, that I had visited China, and eaten her origins food, which was nothing like the cuisine I had just tried, she then told me “they don’t do Chinese, they do English chinese!!”

The service can be a bit slow, but it's worth the wait. The staff are friendly, the food tasty. The best Chinese in the area.

Had a meal for 2 for there buffet eat what you like haha once sat down was told could only eat of a set menu had to keep asking for more and was just being brought out one peace of chicken at a time along with seaweed also asked for more duck and was told the kitchen said no only one per table this is not up to any ones standards to be honest there is more flavour in a glass off water than there chicken young staff very nice and polite large coke was so flat with no bubbles this needs to be stated at entrance about set menu and can not be a buffet eat all you can!!!

Pedí y me dijeron 25 minutos de espera, en media de 5 en una noche de sábado con un restaurante vacío, me sorprendió fue un largo tiempo de cocción.

I couldn't fault the young staff that they had working on the bar, very friendly and polite, my partner had the all you could eat buffet for £12.90, with me not being able to eat wheat I thought I'd stick to the main menu and order something I knew I'd be ok with. When my meal arrived, it was nice, not amazing but nice, my partners on the other I'd describe as a big rip off, the all you could eat was, choose 5 starters, a main meal and a rice, well the 5 starters where mini and I mean mini portions of a starter, on a tiny side plate, and when his main arrived, it was inedible, he ordered crispy beef, he only could describe it as thin pieces of batter, with no beef to be seen at all, I ended up sharing mine with him, when I complained the young lad said to me, or yes that dish is a bit like marmite, so we walked away feeling like we had been ripped off, not impressed at all. I told the young lad I felt like It was a big con, but nothing else was said, I am not a big complainer I hate to make a fuss, but felt I had to warn people about this place.

The staff were very friendly and helpful but my Sweet and Sour Chicken was inedible. as it was chewy and had been overcooked. Not enough sauce either. I won't be going back

Visitamos el Sr. Chan recientemente visitando framlingham. El saludo que teníamos era excelente, y rápidamente nos llevaron a una mesa. Las bebidas llegó rápidamente y servida por un erudito joven camarero. Nuestra orden de comida fue tomado y llegamos a un buen ritmo. Comida sabrosa y caliente, no estoy seguro de por qué hay piensos negativo volver como nuestra comida era perfecto. Bien hecho equipo Chan! Volveremos cuando su manera de nuevo :-)

Fuimos al Sr. Chan, ayer por la tarde, un lugar que hemos visitado varias veces, ya que vivimos cerca. En esta ocasión nos trataron tan mal por los jóvenes camareros que nos levantamos y nos fuimos y nos dimos una buena cena en el Crown Hotel vecino en su lugar. Para lo que vale la pena, después nos llevaron a una mesa por una camarera y ser entregados menús, esperamos por un tiempo muy largo mientras mesas alrededor estaban recibiendo mucha atención. Fui al bar y cortésmente pidió algo de servicio y un camarero a la mesa, llevamos nuestros pedidos exagerar sorprendido de que aún no se había ofrecido ninguna bebida. dimos nuestras bebidas orden y nos fuimos, nos supondrá, para obtener estas para nosotros. Sin embargo, regresó varias veces, dando atención a otros comensales cerca, ignorar totalmente! Absolutamente alterado - partimos para disfrutar de una comida con mejor servicio en otro lugar.

I think the reviews and scoring reflect what I have found and what others say in Framlingham. I have had several takeaways from here and it can vary from average to very good but you just never know. I cannot comment on the service but the food is OK.

It is not the first time I have used Mr Chans, sometime ago I experienced their buffet which was an awful evening ... overcrowded, long waits for food, not enough food and food not that good. However, last night was out later than expected so stopped as drove past for a take away. No-one was in the restaurant or ordering take away which is quite unusual in my experience as I was in their 20 minutes waiting on my food. The food was awful ... the chow mein was so salty you couldn't taste what you were eating, chicken balls were over cooked and the egg fried rice was undercooked and lacked any flavour. All of our meal was a let down and I would rather have a piece of toast than stop there again. Definitely not somewhere I could recommend unfortunately. Staff were very friendly.

We have eaten here before but not for some time. We had the buffet and can't complain about the food but the service was horrendously slow. We must of sat for an hour in between our two starter courses and the table next door waited just as long. There were only 2 young lads who seemed to be waiting on tables and serving behind the bar as well. Won't be in a hurry to go back.

We went here for my daughter's birthday as we were staying locally. Decided to have the buffet. Starters came ... food was lovely. Mains came ... again food was nice. Then they took the plates away and brought the bill. That's not what I'd call a buffet and it ruined my daughter's birthday. Great work guys ... that's why you didn't get a tip!

After a terrible drive down from Scotland we arrived in Framlingham quite late and famished, after asking in a couple of establishments that were still open but had stopped serving we decided to go to Mr Chan's Chinese for a take away, however when we arrived we asked if we could still have a table and the extremely accommodating staff welcomed us in. As it was late we decided to have one course and some noodles on the side. The lemon chicken was tasty as was the sweet and sour chicken and my chicken with chilli and cashew nuts was sure tasty and not too hot. All in al we had a good experience here and it is not too pricy either.

Park your car in the market place and walk a few yards towards the castle to find 'Mr Chan' on your right. Plastic covers on the table and service from students but the food is very good and not expensive. We went for the a la carte rather than the buffet. We had 'Mr Chan's Feast', about £30/- for two, excluding drinks and dessert. There was plenty of food and it deserved the term 'feast'. Last orders about 10pm. £49/- for 2 with drinks and desserts.

Whilst out touring the countryside we stumbled on this lovely chineserestaurant.We opted for the buffet, which was all freshly cooked and served to our table. Lovely food, just enough on the portions to start off with. However, if you're feeling hungry they offer a second portion or eat as you much as you like!Price excellent value for money £11.90 per person.We ate less hear for two people than one main meal cost at other local restaurants.Would definitely visit again, but we would need satnav to find village as we happen to stumble on it!They should be on trip advisor!

A fixture within the town for several years whilst several others have been and gone. A little off the main square of the town but worth the walk as there is a wide menu, served reasonably quickly in decent surroundings by young but well supervised staff. All the favourites and would suggest booking as some days are very busy.
