Moxy Manchester City is conveniently located near the city center, close to shops, restaurants, cafes, and work offices. The hotel’s design is trendy and hipster, giving it a modern, youthful vibe. The staff are generally friendly, and the central location is a significant advantage for both business and leisure travelers. However, there are several drawbacks that impacted my overall experience. One major issue is the breakfast setup. The breakfast area is directly in the reception space, which feels a bit odd and not very organized. It doesn’t give the impression of eating in a proper dining area or a kitchen space. Instead, you find yourself selecting items side by side with the reception desk staff, which feels a little awkward. Another significant problem was the lack of hot water in the showers. On two consecutive mornings, there was no hot water before 6:30 AM, which was both frustrating and inconvenient. On one of the evenings, I also experienced no hot water for about 20 minutes. This issue wasn’t isolated to my room, as a colleague faced the same problem, suggesting a broader issue within the hotel. Additionally, the early check-in process was disappointing. Despite requesting early check-in via email prior to arrival, when we arrived three hours before the official check-in time, the receptionist dismissed the request outright, stating check-in starts at 3 PM without even checking if the room was ready. When asked about rooms for my colleagues, she initially didn’t check either, and it felt like she was reluctant to go the extra mile. While the hotel isn’t obligated to allow early check-in, the lack of effort to accommodate or even verify room availability left a poor impression. The rooms themselves are quite basic. There is no minibar or fridge, nor is there a safe in the rooms, which are standard features you’d expect at this price point. These missing amenities make the experience feel more like a three-star hotel rather than something higher-end. Even basic conveniences like borrowing an umbrella come with an additional charge, reinforcing the impression that everything at the hotel is designed to add extra costs. Overall, while Moxy Manchester City has a great location and a trendy design, it feels overly simplified for the price and rating. Between the lack of essential amenities, hot water issues, and a somewhat inflexible service approach, it doesn’t quite meet expectations for a modern city hotel. It’s worth considering if location is your top priority, but manage your expectations accordingly.

We stayed in the Moxy in Manchester as it is a dog friendly hotel and was very close to a gallery I was exhibiting in. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made our dog feel very welcome with treats and a goody bag. The furnishings were nice, it seemed very clean and new and had everything we needed. The room was basic but all we needed for a short stay. A good shower, comfortable bed, smart TV, kettle, hangers, an arm chair and a separate ironing room. Most importantly the room was clean and the hotel was quiet at night. The other people staying in the hotel seemed respectful. And the shared lounge/cafe area downstairs was comfortable. Unfortunately there is not a fridge in the rooms, as I'm chronically ill and have to travel with medicated shakes it is quite inconvenient staying in hotels without fridges.

My extended family and I stayed at this hotel for a 30th birthday weekend. The hotel is in a great location close to lots of cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs. The rooms are relatively small but clean and functional. The hotel has a nice modern vibe and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend staying here.

Location is in deasgate . About 1 mile from piccadilly station. Complementary drink is appreciated. The air-conditioning in the room did not work . Didn't like not having a ward robe for storage. Not enough work space.

Great location, INSAENLY friendly staff (seriously, everyone I interacted with was absolutely great), relatively minimalistic but nice rooms. Unfortunately: terrible beds. It is as if someone had the concept of a plan to make a bed, but then ended up to throw two mattress toppers on top of each other and called it quits. Way to shoft but at the same time so shallow that you will feel the wood board underneath. So... soft for 10 cm, then a brick. This otherwise amazing hotel needs to throw all the beds out and start over. :( Apart from that: great location, terribly slow and overwhelmed WiFi. Definitely room for improvement. But not a bad value overall.

We are older, but this is fine for the younger generation. Funky but modern in an older building. Our room felt cramped, and not a lot of storage space, but everyone was very nice.

Pleasant stay. It's a nice hotel with friendly reception staff. The lobby is like a games room and quirky. The rooms are quite small, comfy beds and pillows. I came on business and needed to work, the desk is like a small shelf and not suitable as a work desk. I wouldn't recommend for business stays.

The rooms are too small for two people with large suitcases. There is no storage space just a mini wardrobe. The beds are very soft and our backs hurt in the morning. You also can't open or tilt a window, which means that the air is very bad in the morning. Unless you sleep with air conditioning all night. The food is mostly fast food and not particularly good. The people in service are nice but not particularly customer-oriented.

Trendy. Efficient. Comfy. Good AC. The only thing they can improve is offering tinned tomatoes on their breakfast. 🤣 They've also recent changed their pepperoni pizzas... for the better! They were average before but now they're very good.

Alice failed to greet us at the check in desk, nor did she offer a smile or any form of positive customer service. First impressions count and unfortunately she set a negative feel to the stay. The negativity lasted and left a bitter taste in our mouths. We asked why our room was changed from a king size to two twins. No real response. We asked about the car parking, no great response. I had to ask a colleague who explained it and gave a print out of car parking details and instructions. We wanted to leave our credit card details behind the counter but she never gave us the chance to. Several other things were an issue. We would not stay again. We use Marriott often and this is one hotel that's not on our list to revisit. Shame.

It was a wonderful exoerience. They were very welcoming and even helped me keep my bag when I checked out while I went to get something in town. Lovely. The location is a bit hard to find though. But apart from that, okay.

God damn best burger I have ever had I swear to God. The meat is juicy and just falls apart and the flavour is there and it hits. My mouth is actually in heaven . First time I've tried this place tonight don't know why I've never tried it till now. These guys know how to cook . Also the food was still hot upon delivery and I can't commend them enough. Top notch scran right here. You pay for what you get. Deliciousness 10/10

I stayed here from Sunday through to Tuesday. It did not rain. I did not hear or see an emergency vehicle. There was a fair bit of banter. I found this hotel's staff brilliantly individuals who work together to give great service when the curtain goes up. Photographs of my room show a clean well thought through offer, outstanding bed and bathroom linen. I love the modern take on the doormans chair , a sort of arm chair with a hood. I have seen a similar one near Exeter at chef Michael Caines manor house hotel. They originated from a Scottish design , I think. Plenty of marble and marble effect in the bathrooms. My room only had a shower, a very effective one too. I am too old to skid about in a bath. I thouroghly enjoyed a cooked breakfast here and Sunday lunch. I can find minor faults in certain aspects, but overall I really enjoyed my stay. It's in a great part of the city, great shopping and many very good places to eat and drink. I also went to Browns bistro round the corner, and to Moose cafe also nearby on York street. Manchester is untouristy on Monday and less so Tuesday. Museums are shut , the hop on hop off buses don't run. There are a few exceptions, the Central Library is open, Science and industry museum is open , though with a limited offer at the moment. On Mondays they both resemble creches with many running riot and having fun. It's a lovely diverse city, and has very much to offer. There are two free city bus routes. 1 and 2. Linking railway stations and the best parts of the city for a visitor And they run 7 days a week. The concierge at the hotel are fun, know their stuff , but perhaps not brilliant at imparting what you need to know. But jolly and kind and helpful. They will have to work on mind reading. I appreciated Nigel's help he is on the apprenticeship scheme. To me this is a perfect boutique hotel, small, private, genuine, authentic quality, with some brilliant dashes and sprinkles of passion and magic. I ate well , slept well, drank well and repeated that over 3 days.
