Motorway Service Restaurant in Lancaster

The ladies toilet block was absolutely filthy with spattered toilet bowls, toilet paper all over the place I honestly felt like wiping my feet on the way out !

I needed the toilet and had planned to buy food. I have difficulty climbing stairs, but do not have a toilet key. Disabled toilet was on the ground floor and locked. Ladies toilet was up a double flight of stairs which caused me difficulties, the loo flush system was not obvious and certainly didn't work. Neither did the2 of the hand dryers, the working one wasn't immediately visible at first.left without buying anything. Any staff around weren't obvious .

the upper part that is it's only redeeming feature ,is no longer open it seems. Unless I didn't see the acess point And the Lower part is atrocious One of the worst i have seen in the UK. needs plenty of money spending on it to return it to its iconic status it used to have. I feel sorry for the people who have to work amongst it.

Stopped as heading home, wanted something to eat. The whole eating area was unclean lots of tables needed cleaned and the floors were also stained. Burger King meal fine, you know what your going to get. Definitely needs more regular cleaning.

Disgusting attitude from burger king staff member when questioned about a food choice, was told it was a franchise he didnt own the company,

You can shop and buy whatever but just don’t try and pay with your Scottish notes as apparently not legal tender, staff needing educated as they sound really silly when giving reasons for refusal, won’t b back, see pic and yes def REAL money

We were pleasantly surprised by Arlo's as it was almost too cheap for a service station. We had soup and a roll and chilli fries. We thought the portion sizes were fine and it was hot and tasty and brought to the table. Ok the service was average and it lacked in a little salt, but it was so much better than an overpriced burger from Burger King or a sweet pastry that wouldn't fill us up from Costa. Try it!

Had a very pleasant breakfast at the Arlo's, having stayed overnight at the Travelodge next to the services (so there before it got busy). Made to order, it was piping hot and tasty. (I had the scrambled eggs and mushrooms.) The only downside was that I would have liked to have had a second piece of toast.

I can only comment on the toilets. Filthy, stinking and disgusting. A toilet seat fixed with duct tape?! And in the same cubicle a notice saying that Moto care about your hygiene! Cannot believe that Moto believe that this is acceptable. Place should be closed down.

Now I know that we shouldn’t expect to much from motorway cafes but this one has got to be the worst. Toilets a disgrace, stench was awful. Food absolutely awful, cafe tables were sticky. Outside area filthy. Felt like I needed dousing with disinfectant when I left.

Stopped here just now. Overflowing with people. It is filthy and stinks. Only toilets upstairs. One of the worst stops I have experienced :(

I can't submit without giving one star. It does not deserve that. Food was disgusting, expensive and luke warm/cold. On complaining we were told dismissively 'I don't write the menu'. Don't waste your money or your time. Look at the tower from the road and drive on. The Age of Glamorous Motoring is dead.

I visited Forton Services this morning on my way up north. I was starving so had a visit to Greggs.The service i received was spot on the young man and lady could not have helped me any more.

I ordered trio of chicken for my little boy. The plate should contain 3 different kinds of chicken, chips and garden peas.

Tasty freshly cooked to order food but a little pricey but that's Motorway Services for You !! 100 %

Where to begin. We were travelling south and had booked to stopover here. First problem, the parking for the Moto is on the north side and you are fined if you stay more than 2 hours in the wrong one so we had to move across the motorway. So what? I hear you sigh but here the fun begins. It is dark, wet with post rain puddles ands muddy verges and to find the Moto we first had to trudge half a mile through various pedestrian crossings and badly lit parking areas not to mention the filling station avoiding close encounters with HGVs. Moto sent us back to get our vehicle after trying to explain how we actually get there by road. Four people later and we ventured through the 'No entry' lane as instructed. Fortunately the Police Station there was disused so we got through. Then a mile or so through unlit, tree lined, country lanes (Women travelling alone think twice, break down here and it's Texas chain saw time) over the bridge and into a maze of parking zones. Tried using my blue badge but the disabled spaces were taken by non badge holders. Told the staff who didn't care less. Room was too close to the entrance so quite noisy. Strange smell of cats. Dirty linen and faulty curtain's. Feeling ready for supper we trudged back and decided to try the 'Arlo's cafe'. Hadn't even spoken to the staff when we were told 'No burgers, No fish'. I perused the menu....Ah steak, in various forms...great!....'No streaks'.....Bugger! So it was the all day breakfast for me which oddly came with chips. The girls serving tried to console me with extra portions but I did feel a bit let down. My wife on the other hand had a great vegetarian burger and chips.

While staying at the Travelodge we opted to have something to eat at Burger King. The three of us all had the same meal - 4 piece chicken strips meal. Everything was freshly cooked and tasted good & served hot.

The most disgusting breakfasts ever, served inexplicably in a cold frying pan, in which they had most definitely not been cooked. In fact, cooked is not a description that could be applied to this appalling apology of a meal.White, raw sausage, was the worst, aided and abetted by cold beans, strange round travesties of tepid hash browns, anaemic bacon and abject horribleness all round. Actually, the egg didn't look too bad, but we weren't tempting fate by eating any of it. Don't fall victim. Travel the extra miles up to Tebay services where the meals are amazing, beautifully cooked and local produce.

We had an overnight stopover at the Travelodge and therefore had both an evening meal and a breakfast at Arlo’s! This place is never going to win any culinary awards but the staff were friendly and the food was OK and certainly better than the adjacent Burger King!

Stopped off for a quick coffee. Was surprised by the amount of services. Great snacks available and good quality. Toilets available and clean. Would make another pit stop there again. Enjoyed my food.

Had to stop here on Sunday as had 6 hours drive so 3 hours into our journey we stopped used the toilet facilities which were spotless and bought some food and drinks plenty parking spaces and a garage of you required fuel got served pretty...

Siempre tome un descanso en viajes alargado, y esta vez nos llama aquí y utilizó los servicios de arlos. La comida era genial y a un precio razonable. Los camareros eran más educado y servicial. Sin duda este restaurante próxima visita.

Tried to order a meal at burger king ,my god ,the assistant made the tea 10mins before my order arrived,so...

Burger King es una franquicia de estas personas no cocinar y no debería ser permitido para probar. No era sólo que cosas estaba tibio, en realidad era insípida - Viajo mucho, así que son utilizados para el servicio de la estación, pero los precios de la tierra cómo se puede arruinar una hamburguesa y una ensalada? La mitad del menú también no estaba disponible. El servicio era lento. Las mesas estaban sucias y contenedores demasiado lleno para poner nuestro medio comido comida. Nos quejamos y nos debería tener un reembolso, pero en vez de la próxima vez que sólo perderse ninguna de las estaciones de servicio con Burger King, quizás si comienzan a perder dinero, luego te cambiar su acto.

Oh dear, what a terrible place. It just looks and feels like a relic from the past. If you can manage to avoid a washroom stop, just keep on going up or down the M6. Usual food outlet names are there, and they do their best, but the place just needs pulling down and replacing. Judge this service area against the Tebay services just further north up the M6 - there is no comparison!!

I've been coming here frequently since my biking days and as far as motorway services go,this is one of the better ones...there is ample parking and good outside seating(good if you don't want to leave your motorbike/motorhome or caravan unattended)....Can be a bit pricey as are all m/way services but all you could need on your travels is here...Check out the M & S SHOP and the BURGER KING upstairs.There is a COSTA outside if you just want to grab a quick coffee rather than go inside..Nice washrooms as well..

It was after 8 pm and raining we had stopped for the night at the Travel Lodge and came over for hot food. There was not much choice as there was no fish so we ordered two different types of burgers. Once we had sat down we were approached and informed there was only one burger so would one of us like a chicken fillet instead. We agreed as we were tired and hungry. The food was hot however the chips were raw tasting and not very nice the worst bit for me was it is served on paper so difficult to cut the burger without getting paper stuck to your food. (please bring back plates). The staff were busy cleaning and all salt and peppers were stacked on one table we had to go find our own. We give it a second try when we went across for breakfast in the morning, mine was fine bacon bread roll and mint tea but the short English Breakfast was much like the night before with the potato being raw almost still frozen after being cooked. Breakfast was not worth the charge much like the evening meal next time we may just go to Burger King !

Stopped for a break and food. Visibly this is quite run down and in need of work but inside has obviously had a bit of work done. Looks ok and food at BK not bad...as expected.

I frequently stop here on the northbound side as it is convenient for me. I usually pick up a few things in Marks and Spencer. However last night I stopped at the south side. I found it to be in need of some TLC. Went to Burger king, the food was usual but the tables were not clean and the bins overflowing. There were only 3 of us in there with plenty of staff to sort it. The toilets were spotless. Unless tired I will drive on past in future.

The standard black coffee really wasn't nice and it ought to be after all the advertising and experience of the company.Wall decoration explains how, as the coffee flower turns into beans, they then develop and darken in their red colour developing their flavour as they go.Mine didn't and I, unusually, added sugar to try and make it drinkable.The service as slow, four behind the counter and three customers in front and the famed individual and personal production took ten minutes. Honestly I would have preferred a filter coffee.So, my problem. Do I try them again and see if there is an improvement or just give them a skip?

We stopped to get out of traffic. Went into the Costa by the door and got 2 lukewarm coffees and sat in the outside area. The area was dirty with lots of rubbish.

This place opened, as Forton Services, when the M6 Lancaster and Preston bypasses connected in 1963. It had a truck drivers cafe ( greasy spoon ) a self service cafeteria and an octagonal silver service restaurant 80 feet up in the air, with spectacular views. The Lancastrian was a posh destination. It closed due to fire regulations 20 years ago. Now Lancaster Services is a run down mish mash. Sad. Stopped for fuel, a coffee and sandwich because I was low on fuel. No other reason. Fuel was 12p a litre over priced.

I called in at Forton services last week for a pit-stop to break up a long journey south on the M6 back to the Midlands.The loos were fine and clean enough. I also got two take-out hot drinks from the Costa there. This branch was excellent with great service, and the drinks were really, really good.A good service station for a stop-off on any journey on the M6.

Had a meeting in Northbound at Costa Coffee which was excellent. Left my hat and didn't realise until later in the day. Called and spoke to 2 very helpful ladies. Rachel even called me back to confirm she had posted it to my home ....Free of charge. Now that's what I call customer service .....great coffee too!

Cotswolds to Aberdeen by car. Stopped at Lancaster services. Very disappointed in surroundings, cramped and untidy. Staff in Costa pleasant and helpful, however will not stop there again.

An unpleasant way to end the day!! Staff pleasant enough but the restaurant was a disgrace, tables not cleared or wiped, bins over flowing. This was on the south bound side. The north bound was equally disfunctional but at least they had building work going on around them.

Very poor outlet in a miserbale service area. Bought 2 pasties and the guys serving did say the pasties have gon a bit cool and I said OK. They were stone cold! should have taken them back but thats life. Neat and tidy but if thats what Greggs offer I now know why I never go in one.

I like giving good reports but I'm stretching to give an average at Forton Northbound Services here. I'm sitting in Costa which is by the main entrance. It is freezing cold. Half the tables have customers sitting at them, the other half all have trays with empty cups etc on them. The three staff are just chatting allowing this Costa to basically look a mess. Full marks to M&S. Clean, tidy, well presented as usual, as is WHSmith. Basically the whole area needs a makeover and considering the rip off prices they all charge, I hope they get their act together and start respecting the travellers. Best part are the loos with flushes that only require you to put your finger close without touching.It's not all bad.

Good for a break from driving, a Mug of Tea, good M & S shop, Beverage machine for hot drinks could do with a service.

We visited the Burger King on the south-bound side at about 6pm on a Friday. There only seemed to be a few staff there, and whilst they were friendly, it took absolutely ages to get served. We were only third in the queue and it must have been a good ten minutes. Other customers were complaining about how slow it was, and several people left rather than wait. Once we'd eventually ordered, the food arrived quite quickly and it was okay. I don't know if the staff are slower than at other BKs, or if there aren't enough of them, but whatever the problem is, I'll be avoiding this BK in future.

We stopped by during a long drive between Scotland and Surrey, but we had to keep going. When they get it right, I enjoy using Burger King but too often, it is hit and miss with them, and this was no exception.The place was just about empty but there was not a single clean table in the place. The staff had just not bothered to clean their tables.We could have just got down to clean the tables ourselves, but with such careless attention to cleanliness where it can be seen, I was left wondering where else they were going to drop their hygiene standards.

There are far cleaner, fresher services not too far north and south of this place. Outside is dirty with cigarette butts all over the floor of Costa outdoor area and dirty tables with nobody making any effort to clean up. If you're desperate enough to need to use the toilets, be warned, take a deep breath before you enter. Whoever is in charge should take this place in hand severely.

In many ways these services are a relic of the sixties. They have come a long way and provide service which is much needed on our congested motorway network. You just feel the whole place needs to be knocked down and started again as it is a hotch potch of stuff trying to extract your money. The food is okay and the staff do their best in what is a dispiriting place. Toilets are good and clean and hats off to the hard working toilet attendants for what they do. It just all feels dated and 20th Century and is a place you have to visit rather than want to.

Sad to see somewhere so dreadful be so busy. So many people throwing their money away.I thought the £4.49 west Cornish pasty co meal deal sounded ok so gave it a try. Well, the latte was just milk with virtually no coffee in it. The pasty was the same. Steak and ale? Good size pasty with plenty onions etc but couldn't find the steak anywhere. Maybe hidden by the carrot?

We often travel M6/M74 and often stop at a number of service stations. This for us was a first and definitely the last as we stopped on the southbound services. Right from the word go the appearance is off-putting, the outside looks like a throwback to the 1960, and the décor looks as if it was last done in the 1960s, and the whole appearance looked dirty.This has a Burger King, Costa Coffee (and express), Greggs and a WH Smith. There's the toilet facilities, which are up the escalator and through the seated area, close to the bridge connecting to the northbound services.Costa coffee is not the cheapest coffee, but the prices here are way beyond what is paid in the high street.This is one we'll not be stopping at again.

I stop here quite frequently to use the loo and buy lunch from the M&S downstairs. The loos upstairs are fine, but could really do with upgrading. The eating area is like somethings out of the 1970s. It is never busy but still the tables are almost all dirty. The food is the same as you get everywhere apart from Tebay, but the surroundings are terrible. Keep going and stop at Burton in Kendal (northbound) or Charnock Richard if you are going south. The whole services is a bit dark and not very welcoming.

My wife,grandaughter and I were travelling to the Lakes and stopped off for a bite to eat at Moto Services north bound M6. Initially a very helpful guy who was generally tidying up directed us to the toilets and as he could see my wife was struggling to walk,offered her a seat to rest up.My grandaughter saw a Burger King outlet,which as a major well known brand,you would expect a certain standard of service and quality of food. Well the service just wasn't,the girl serving spent more time dealing with other matters whilst we stood waiting for her attention to place an order. She did eventually take our order,but we had no idea what was going on until after a while the food was plonked on a tray without any spoken words,thanks or acknowledgement. Needless to say,we definitely won't give this chain any future business.

The stop does offer a variety of services (Greggs, M&S, Costa, Burger King,...) however it's quite disappointing inside. The place is an urgent need of some work. Really dated and with a sad, dark atmosphere.Both Costa Coffee and Burger King were dirty and with not enough staff to run the places. We probably spent about 20 minutes just on queues waiting to be served. We had two hungry small kids so we had to wait, otherwise we would have left.The prices are higher than the usual high street prices.Bathrooms really dated and dark. Need some urgent upgrade. Not very clean.Maybe for a quick stop to grab a pack of crisps and a visit to the toilet it will be ok. But if you are looking for somewhere to have a meal you may want to consider stopping somewhere else.

Dirty toilets...dirty food hall..relatively enough choice of services/restaurants though...M&S and Costa are ok...

We called in the north bound services and found plenty easy places to park with our caravan. You will find a number of places to eat and sit outside.

Stopped here on route North bound, the parking was atrocious and we ended up in the coach park along with hundreds of others. Nice small kids play area on the way in. It was manic inside but it was 1.30pm. Had a Burger King and it was ok, service was quick. Very impressed with baby facilities, baby bottle warmer and a baby microwave too baby changing could do with a revamp as it was a bit old and dated as was the building of the service restaurant. I would stop again just for the convenience of the baby facilities.

A thoroughly good experience was had by all during our most recent visit to Lancaster services. Father had a good stretch in the car park whilst I purchased a rather delicious minty coffee. Your staff even gave my younger brother an empty coffee mug on request so that he might share my aforementioned scrumptious beverage. Good work and keep it up.

Burger King Franchise needs sorted immediately. Loads of people getting the wrong orders, the burgers, which I usually enjoy were bland and dry, overall rubbish

As far a services stations go I do like Lancaster. Easy parking, good selection of amenities and shops and a Costa right at the door!Easy peasy!

Writing this review from the car park. Stopped here on our way south. The toilets are very dark and badly lit, not helped by the black cubicles. The one I went into (ladies ) left hand side second one in slides to lock but the catch is too far over it doesn't catch so I had to put my bag on the floor to try to keep it closed. Not very clean either given the sign said cleaned every 60 mins and it was 55 mins still to next clean I would of thought they had been cleaned just 5 mins ago by that but not by condition I found them in. I tried 4 soap dispensers before I got any soap. Sorry on this ocassion very disappointed.

Visiting Forton services you see the history of motorway services writ large. With its Grade II listed tower (closed due to fire regulations) it evokes a time when services were destinations in themselves and the motorway was used by a select few. It was built in a time of optimism, and fewer cars.That's all changed obviously. The building is looking shabby and lost some of its original charm with countless additions, signages and concentration of retail areas. The whole place feels cluttered and poky.It now houses the usual suspects, M&S, EDC, WHSmith, BK, Costa, Cornish Pastie company etc. as well as the statutorily provisioned toilets, showers, fuel station etc.In truth it is an identikit services. I could say with a nice restaurant this place could once more evoke that golden age in which it was built but it wouldn'tt get used, services are fuel stops now, of both the petrol and food type.Its a real shame as this is a truly striking building and a testament to a different age.

Toilets are so old but clean.Has a Marks and Spencer which is nice also W H Smith.Has a dog walking area.It's very tired and in need of re decoration

We travel a lot within the UK and abroad and this is the worst services we have ever stopped at. The car park was small and crowded. The facilities were cramped and Burger King upstairs was the worst. Will ever stop here again. Even smaller services cater for people better than this place

I struggled to figure out a rating for this location, I was intrigued as to what the tower was originally (a Restaurant and Sun Deck I'm told, closed now due to Fire Regs and lack of exits) so made a note to look it up when I got home.Inside, it's nothing special, but not amazing - the toilets were average and it looked like the tower itself was under repair (probably due to it's recent Grade II listing) but I was underwelmed by the range of food available on the ground floor.Luckily, it has a M&S on the bridge over the motorway which has a excellent range of snack food as well as meals for those who are nearing their destination! I think that kind of swung my opinion into the Average category!Moto need to pull their finger out and give this place some love, I've seen photos of it in it's heyday, and it was quite a beautiful building that flowed over the motorway.

We are aware that motorway services are a set format of overpriced food and overused facilities but other operators are raising the bar. We stopped for a break en route to the Lake District, the restaurant offered the usual fare and we had a drink and snack. Unfortunately the building is showing signs of serious wear and tear, the steel windows are rusty and the exterior is equally in need of some serious maintenance let alone decoration. The toilets follow the same theme, they seemed to be well cleaned but there are some things that a load of cleaning isn't going to improve. Stained sanitary ware, stained tiles and grout. Obvious historic repairs were in evidence and even some minimal maintenance would improve the look.We don't expect the ritz but with Eurogarage providing fantastic facilities it is hard not to make a comparison.

My wife and I stopped here (heading south) to stretch our legs, go to the toilet and get some food from M&S.Once parked (parking was easy, lots of space on this sunny late afternoon) we took our rubbish to the nearest car park bin. Off to a bad start as there was litter blowing all over the fence line where the bins were. The toilets were clean and spacious. To get to M&S we had to climb the stairs and walk over the M6 indoor bridge. The building and structure was very old looking from this point on. No ventilation and the bridge corridor lights were switched on (not needed) with the temp outside being 24C. M&S was good value with friendly staff. During our 20 minute stop off, this service station delivered the 3 things we were after. It just needs a big clean up in certain areas. The car exit point we had to drive through is far too narrow.

My son and I had the misfortune to stop at the Lancaster Services on our way to the ferry at Cairnryan. The building looked like something from the 1950/60s - old dilapidated, basic furniture and very tired. The staff could hardly be bothered to answer questions and were unwelcoming. The food was truly terrible - one rasher of tasteless bacon, sausages that tasted like cardboard, and beans - all virtually cold. This services should be condemned and knocked down.

The whole place is tatty, the toilets smell and are old. We wanted a bit to eat, it looked terrible, the chicken was dry, pies terrible so we stuck with a sarnny and tea. The milk was dumped in a 1 ltr bottle on the counter with "ther's ya milk" The staff looked unkempt. Avoid at all costs and travel a little further to Kendal or Westmorland.

We stopped and ate here and were very pleasantly surprised. It looks decades old from the outside and probably is but at least inside its reasonably comfortable and the staff were helpful. We tried this one as Charnock Richard had been so awful and we'd definitely use this one again. The baby changing room was a tad dated and smelled really strongly of disinfectant but at least it was clean.

EDC cant believe anyone gets away with such a poor standard, soup was cold , pie & chips only thing warm was the gravy . Its like going back to the future 1970s depressing building and depressing food.if Heneiken ran the worst cafe in Britain this is probably it

I would have liked something other than KFC but sometimes you just have to go for Junk Food. As I was in the middle of a long drive and being over 50 I didn't want a large coke so tried to order just Chicken Pieces and Chips. You would think this would be cheaper without a drink but Why Oh Why is it 40p cheaper to have a meal with a drink than it is without? So I didn't suffer financially the server put my order through as a meal with a drink and just didn't serve the drink!

This is no improvement from the 70's and 80's there has always been problems in this service area. We were due to stop here on the way home from Scotland on 27 December 2015, only to find it closed, was not a problem for us with its reputation, it was for our driver as his hours were up here with no where to stop.Should be pulled down and restarted

I visited this service station and was very unimpressed.I order fish and chips which I had to wait for while I though it was being freshly cooked.It was completely awful, the fish was slimey and the batter rock hard, I couldn't eat it so went to speak to the management regarding the poor quality and was told I could have a refund or a new meal. i choose the refund .I only give it two star due to the quick refund policy.The food isn't cheap but that the same as all service stations ( a bit of a rip off)

As Charnock Richard services were closed due to having no water last Friday night and we were halfway home on a gruelling, exceedingly slow journey home with starving kids in the car, we had no alternative but to call at these services.We had to queue for quite a long time due to everyone else who had been turned away from the aforementioned services also stopping here. Didn't expect much from the food - not a big Burger King fan, BUT the food was really, really lovely. All cooked fresh, piping hot, generous portions, excellent cup of tea even! The young man who served us, although very busy and on the receiving end of many grumpy, impatient customers who couldn't seem to understand why they didn't have enough pre-cooked food ready for this mass influx of people - d'oh! - was smiley, friendly and courteous. Credit where credit's due. Burger King has gained 4 more fans!The toilets and sinks were clean and the lady in WHSmiths very chatty and pleasant.

After a very unpleasant experience at EDC Moto Southwaite Services I vowed to never visit one again, I complained and received some vouchers so stupidly called into EDC at Moto Northbound Lancaster Services on M6. A very old and delapidated service area that reflected the quality of food and servive. Dirty serving area, dirty coffee machine with what looked like 2 weeks of discarded coffee around it, dirty counter with coffee grouts and milk spills, a ‘Jcloth’ sitting next to the till that was dry, stained and hadn’t been used in weeks! I should have left at this stage but hey I had some vouchers so ordered fish and chips and spicy chicken and chips. Lady serving was abrupt to the point of rudeness, no one else in the que. Told to pay at the drinks counter and food would be brought to our table. Waited a good few minutes until someone appeared at the till, this was at 12.30 lunchtime on a Thursday, while waiting I studied the dirty counter, coffee machine and wondered what I had let us in for!Food arrived, tired spicy chicken, tired shrivelled peas, overcooked batter on the fish almost burnt, tired staff in dirty overalls. Worse thing was under the fish, the plate was swimming in oil, I have never seen such junk food badly cooked and badly presented. They had the arrogance to charge £18.00 for this, unbelievable! That evening we went to a fantastic artisan food market in Altrincham and paid £10.00 each for a hand raised wood fired pizza and a selection of tempura battered coated seafood with garlic mayonnaise all beautifully presented and served by passionate staff.Why do we let such big companies get away with service and food that can only be described as crap! Get your act together Moto you are letting our country down by presenting a false representation of our food and drink industry, especially worrying when tourists and visitors to our country are presented with such horrors. I have learnt my lesson and will avoid Moto at all costs!

This is not our usual stop when traveling north but when the younger generation needs a toilet stop then needs mustIt was very disappointing, shabby with disinterested staff Avoid if you can

... because after this, life just has to get better. I last came here 45 years ago, and it seemed new and exciting. Today, with paint peeling, and a cold wind somehow blowing straight through the glass walls, it seemed bleak and depressing. The food failed every test. I always thought that you couldn't screw up a full English breakfast but this place defied expectations with burnt toast, cold beans and greasy everything. I can only assume that the purpose of this place is to launder money for the mob, because surely it can't support itself serving this stuff to hungry travelers.

Ordered 4 meals for breakfast, 1 full, 1 traditional and 1 well done bacon bap with no butter. The meal took a while to come and when it did come my bacon was not well done and bap had butter on, so took it back and they said they had nothing else, so had to scrape the butter off and deal with it.we also asked for some sauce knowing they were giving it to other people, we got turned away and was made to pay for tiny sachets, would have rather gone gregs.

Like a scene from the jetsons ( a 60's cartoon portraying the future) a space like effigy hangs over the motorway making these services look like the most unattractive location ever , I was staying at travelodge on the same site and needed food so was prepared to ditch expectations of a nice cosy pub in favour of eating NOW and not trying to source somewhere less scary looking . My fears were allayed by super friendly staff , great cod and chips, and a nice clean restaurant . Travelodge customers get a 20% discount - something travelodge forgot to tell me- so I had a full English breakfast there before leaving in the morning. In the complex there's a m&s simply food store, wh smith and a cotton traders - an odd combo In a run done quiet motorway location but nonetheless nice for a small bottle of red to drink from plastic travelodge cups while watching TV, but cotton traders ? They must see much passing en route to the lakes and needing outdoor gear trade . So aside from my odd travelling life and makeshift sophistication , I would recommend the "jetsons diner" as I now call it, as a great location for friendly helpful service and a cracking meal .

Falling apart. Water parasite issue. I have never seen something as bad as this. The betting shop and slot machine area were up to date and tidy which is a joke.Kids play area falling apart. In fact a little dangerous.Avoid this stop.

This one was shabby, very rowdy and noisy and the various fast food outlets ..... were expensive ..... very expensive ........ so it is good as a loo stop only.
