Good chips and fish, fresh and tasty. For fish & chips and small chips and a battered sausage was about 16 GBP. Came wrapped in paper and a plastic bag was provided.

Lady behind the counter had no personality, gave us a very rude and dirty look on arrival. Impolite and no manners and couldn't smile to save herself. Chips very soggy, underdone and tasteless. Hardly any salt and vinegar. Peas were cheap and nasty. Found a big long brown hair in my chips. You really should consider wearing hair nets and obeying food hygiene laws. Wouldn't recommend at all.

A once great chippy sadly on a downward trajectory. Once upon a time I would have recommended. If you want a good chippy go to Neptune or Hodgesons. Both nearby and miles better. Neptune being the only chippy this end of town selling baked beans. This evening was a particular testy visit. It’s clear upon my last few visits that it’s about the bottom line rather than anything else in recent times to their detriment. . First they took away small tubs for gravy, curry and peas. Prices up again too. As a single person I don’t want a large. Then today after reading around the premises that they prefer cash as it’s better for their business. I offered up my cash only to have my legal tender of Scottish Stirling refused. Citing the reason that there are more fake Scottish notes. Completely unfounded statement. Buy a uv note checker or educate your staff on how to check notes correctly. I then return home to eat my tea to reveal a tepid pie and lukewarm gravy at best. No offer of carrier bag, which was always standard. I’ve given this place chance after chance especially after being short changed and the owner not caring at all. I’m out after 25 years as a Bowerham resident. My business will be going elsewhere.

One of the best f'n'c I had in England

The chippy serves large portions (even the small are large) of good chips cooked in fresh oil we had five fish and chips and a sausage and chips with cartons of mushy peas, gravy and curry sauce it to us a while to work our way through it. It was well worth the visit and we will call again.

Really tasty and massave portion

Well...there's no denying the fish and chips are very good..probably the best aound but...£25 for two small f&c's, one large with two large mushy peas...(tbh i couldnt tell the difference) and I can't help but feel I've just had my pants pulled down and..... I couldn't even afford the usual sausage for Scurvo.....

never tasted anything better in my life. this would be my last meal on death row. its perfect, they are mushy and look inedible but my god i would gladly murder my mate lydia for a portion of cheesy chips and a can of fanta. idk where you are from if you are reading this go and geet some bowerham chippy chips rn. they are peng

We travel from High Bentham to visit never disappoints everything we have had has been spot on and prices are great also. Polite staff which is always a bonus.

When a member of staff from bowerham chippy stands biting her nails then proceeds to serve people I would suggest she recieves training on hygiene. I would of thought she should of washed her hands before serving anyone

stopped in here last night during my shift. what else is there to be said except Awesome fish was beautifully cooked batter was crisp and golden not greasy chips were perfection. add in a helping of curry sauce and a cold can of pop and it was just what was needed. will definatly be back for more

Just wanted to say this was a fabulous fish and chips, me and my flat mate throughly enjoyed eating and will deffo be returning to “me dads chippy”, just like you can always rely on your dad, you can always rely on ‘me dads chippy’ to pull through with a great fish and chips. I’m addition, when delivering the man was so lovely and kind and also informed us that they gave us free mushy peas (which was my first time trying mushy peas and I can confirm I will be ordering them from now on, they were delicious) and a free pot a gravy. Portion sizes are incredible so massive and great value for money, my new fave place is me dads chippy - thank you so much for a lovely lovely dinner xx

Can't understand why they choose to give you what seems like 2 portions of chips even when you say 1 small 🤔. Quality over quantity everytime ..... Hate pies that are reheated via the microwave.... just my opinion 🤫

Pretty decent fish and chips. I've been semi-regular here on and off for years now and I reckon they've improved over time. I used to find that the quality was a bit hit and miss but it's consistently good now.

Top notch quality fish and chips, sausages are good quality and the curry sauce is great - whats not to like!

Large chips is enough to feed 3!

Usually enjoyed fish & chips from here, got some last Saturday & the fish & chips where under cooked had to bake in oven. Very disappointed, it wasn't as if they were busy.

The chips were good, we has halloumi sticks too and they were also good.

Used to like this chippy. One of choice but last night visit certainly wasnt servicecwith a smile. I dont know whether a uni student but the server was not in the least friendly, gutted at a man and he rushed off to get a mask and tutted at mynorder as there was a mix up. Always used here but wont again.

The fish was really nice, large portions, was cooked fresh when I ordered, although I think this was because they had just opened I'm not sure. Peas were nice, slight hint of mint in it I think, gravy was standard stuff Chips were slightly soft, but I think it may be new potato season. I saw someone else say cash only, but it does day card machine broken in the front window. Overall still 5 stars as nice friendly staff and tasty food!

We had been out all day on the lakes and decided on a chippy tea! Choice between hodgsons or bowerham we opted for second choice! Well tonight’s food was basically half wasted as the chips were basically glued with grease to the paper! And the rest of them were soggy and just looked like they had been stepped on! Think next time we’ll go back to hodgsons!

Good fast service, not much waiting around. In - order - out, alot quicker than other chippys.

We were staying in the area for a few days and decided to treat ourselves to fish and chips. We found this place very easily and were served very quickly and safely. We took the meals back to our holiday accommodation and really enjoyed them. The portion sizes were large and the batter vert crispy. Great prices too.

Wouldn't use another chippy and always recommend it to my friends; staff are friendly and food is top-notch! The work they have put in during COViD-19 is great, looking after their staff and customers. New online order and card machine brings it to the 21st Century.

Great chippy, fresh decent fish.

Fish and chips are wrapped so tightly in paper that they become a solid stodgy lump. Other nearby chippys use trays with lids and this makes the food more presentable and edible. Quick service as there is often no queue.

Tasty food, Efficient service, cash only.

This is my favourite chip shop in Lancaster and I travel from the other side of town to use it. I don't eat fish but there is always a good selection of other hot foods to choose from. The shop is bright and cheerful and the service always pleasant and efficient.

Best cost to chip ratio nearby, are the chips are okay, but nothing exciting. They don't take card, but there's a machine just across the road so that's not really a problem. Large portions.

I work in Bowerham at the barbers and came here for my dinner, it was the best chips I have tasted in a long time, I now go here quite often for dinner, the service is great too

The fish yesterday seemed like it was sliced like paper thin, Maybe running out so split it down i do not know but worst we have ever had from here. 19/5/19, Seems to be heading down hill recently.

always go here, i travel, passing other chippies but this is my go to chippy. Price has gone up, bit too much but good portion size, good chips and fish. Dont do children menu or half-size portion which would be good as dont always want a big size.

My " go to" chippy in Lancaster. Always good quality and fast service. Parking can be awkward so it's best to park on the road behind (Ulster road) and walk down a small back alley to get to the shop.

Always great portions of fresh fish and chips. Love the chips, fish always fresh and large and service perfect. I've tried every chippy in Lancaster before settling on this as my favourite. Plus the prices are very reasonable - fish, chips and large peas for 6.90 (and I struggle to finish it all and I'm greedy)

Went back after many years, having lived round there as a student. Food still fabulous, good selection of meals available.

Best chippy in the area. The chips are delicious and so is the fish. Don’t know what their secret is but it’s really much better than others nearby. Totally recommended!

Chewy,soggy, old. Felt like the food had been cooked yesterday. the potato fritters tasted of fish so obviously cooked in the same fryer with old oil. By the time I got it home there was so much grease leaking from the food all the packaging had disintegrated. Never again

Today I went to Bowerham Chippy, and the woman who was serving was very rude. I used to like this place. The food is really good, but I would not recommend this place simply because of how she treats the customers. She got angry when I asked her if she could please include mushy peas as this is part of the lunch meal. She yelled: "I asked if you wanted anything else". She very agressively asked: "Do you understand what I am saying?" I was shocked at how patronizing she was. Even the cook did not aprove of the way she was treating me. I really did not want to argue, so I simply told her that I was not going to buy anything from the shop ever again. I don't quite understand how a businesses can afford to be disrespectful to customers.

Great food, friendly, always a smile! If I could eat it every day, I probably would. But my hips disagree!
