I was on vacation visiting some friends in Scotland and I stopped in to a Moto Kinross on my way to Edinburgh. David from WHsmith was very helpful and friendly. He was super attentive and promoted the Samh charity and a very good book table. The establishment was very clean and well kept. 10/10 would recommend!

Just an absolute rip off from fuel to snacks. Avoid WH Smith £1.95 for a bag of Crisps!! These outlets are just ripping people off.

Stopped at moto kinross for some food after spending the day up north with kids. It was rather late round 10.30pm maybe a bit later. Kids were hungry so opted for Burger King. Ordered food at ordering station waited for it . The woman behind counter put food in counter and walked away there was 3 different groups of people waiting for food. She came back and shouted order number out in a way that was DISRESPECTFUL, rude and seemed to annoy her. My food came to be put down so I checked with her the order number to which the reply yes it is what’s the problem. (Well firstly your attitude is disgusting, secondly you may want to actually inform waiting customer of order number instead of throwing food on counter like it’s beneath you) Asked for some napkins reply was no we don’t have any. There was some very clearly on counter behind her to which I said so and the check of this woman shouted to get out. I was actually nothing but polite to her and got abused for it. Wish I had got her name because I would be making a formal complaint to both the service station and Burger King. Description of her is all I have short women, glasses short curly hair with a massive chip on her shoulder about something and nothing. Went to WHSmith and got lighter yes overly priced but these places normally are but gent that served me was nice and polite.

Be sure to check your drink before you leave, I ordered a large hot chocolate and was given someone’s coffee instead. Luckily I was still in the car park when I noticed this, therefore returned the drink, explaining the problem, they did not apologise, one staff member took the returned drink and I watched horrified to see her drink from the cup I had purchased ( please note, Covid pandemic still ongoing) Another member of staff made me another drink, which I also returned as I’d paid for a large hot chocolate and he replaced it with a small! Again disappointed to see the first staff member take the small cup and pour it into a large cup , then proceeded to add extra powder and milk to top it up. Need you ask, this drink was also returned as it had powder lumps running through it. I demanded my money back, to this I eventually received an apology and offered they would make another one. I refused this and asked once again for my money back. I paid via card but they gave me cash back which turned out to be 5p short! All in all avoid this service station (Greggs). I defo won’t be back!!! 🙃🤮🤬 Date: 9/4/22

We stopped in here on a coach tour, choices were limited with Burger King, costa or Gregg's food truck? We chose costa, we got a toastie each, a cake and a drink each which cost £20, its very expensive and wasnt cooked properly! Theres hardly any seating and it's all a bit cramped. Toilets are very dated and didnt look very clean, avoid if you can!

Had to queue outside for Burger King as so busy. When we eventually got in it took so long to serve us that after 25 minutes we walked out. Rude staff, the place was filthy and 5 people not wearing facemasks. So much for the no mask, no entry policy. All the other outlets at this service station are fine with kind, helpful staff and the guy who stands at the door admitting people is excellent. Pity about Burger King. Its a dirty, disgusting hole.

Terrible isn't the right word it was worse than that. The breakfast roll was not cooked just like a dough ball! Link sausage tasted like chemicals! One bite and u had to throw it in the bin! 1x yum yum... £1 half the size of Baines bakery and you get 2 sausage rolls for the same price! Yum yum was dry and hard! You would expect fresh food for these prices! Avoid like the plaige!

Stopped here hoping to get some lunch, after all it is a service station. All that was avail;able were snacks. Bought some mediocre sandwiches and started to eat them inside. I was soon told that I could not eat them inside and I had to leave. Being on a motor bike I had nowhere to sit. The area is in Covid level 2 which means that it is possible to eat inside. I then used the toilets and the smell was disgusting, even through a mask. Will never stop here again.

Really good place to go for food and service

Can’t quite figure why folks opt for Greggs, but the locals seem to love it. Greasy buns with sausage patties and hp sauce, or squished egg and cheese. Like an egg muffin but reheated meats and egg. You have to be in a big rush to choose this spot over a fast food place. It is, in fact, faster than fast food. And it’s cheap. But if you’re at a motorway service stop, go ahead in and have the full breakfast, take a little time for a decent meal.

We stayed in the adjacent "Atholl cottage" offered by the hotel. At best I'd rate the stay "okay" but only if you're not there in any cold temperatures. It was a cold week but it's not really much of an excuse when the main restaurant and lodge seemed to be heated fine. We were there with my husband and my grandparents and it was so cold in the cottage they couldn't sleep. The only room with any decent heat is the smaller bedroom and the bathroom. The living space was absolutely frozen. We sat in our winter jackets and hats despite the heating being on. The curtains at the front window cover the radiator, so your options are to let all the heat escape the radiator through the window or have your entire living space on display on one of the main roads of pitlochry. It's also to be noted the road was quite noisy throughout the night and morning, all sound comes through to the bedrooms. The carpets throughout are clearly very old, stained, and had a somewhat "sticky" feeling that you get with old carpet. Bathroom was fine, nothing to write home about. Noted that the shampoo despenser wasn't working. The kitchen had some basic supplies but no tea towels or oven glove and no baking trays of any kind for the oven. For a "self-catering cottage" it should have a few more things. There was also only 3 regular coffee sachets provided, the rest were decaf. The overall main detractor here is the heating situation in winter. It was so incredibly cold. I went to the reception to ask for any sorts of blankets and the woman working was incredulous when I said the cottage was cold (despite it being -°2 outside). She eventually went to get one additional king duvet which was appreciated but for a group of 4 not quite sufficient for all of us. It was not a pleasant start to the interaction and I was irritated at the state of the situation at that point so I decided to cut my losses and take the duvet and just deal with it for one night. If we were staying more than one night we would have moved to another hotel because it was truly unbearable for my grandparents. There is a glass backdoor with virtually no insulation - likely a major cause of the cold temperature. Overall there were a few minor things I could've let go, but I could in no way recommend this cottage to someone in its current state. The only benefit I will attribute is the central location, and the cottage comes with its own parking space (although this isn't informed upon booking). Towels and pillows were fine enough. I really recommend McKays take the comfort of guests more seriously and make some updates to the cottage if they intend to keep letting this out. It has a lot of wasted potential in its current state.
