This is quite nice the staff are lovely and the food good. I think the potions ate a bit smaller than other places I've been to. But enough for me. Only down side is its very cold don't seem to have any heating in the restaurant, also its quite noisy even if it's not full. I certainly won't go again in the winter months but summer I will visit again. Another positive is you can take your own alcohol.

Made my order exactly as I required. I had a Tikka Mossala and asked they added extra spices. I stipulated I did not want it hot just a tad spicy. It was exactly what I required. It was absolutely tasty. Thank you Mohti Jeel 😀

We had an amazing meal here after Newcastle Races, the food was some of the best we've had. We both had poppadum's to start with a large selection of condiments - a couple were very spicy which my husband likes then we followed them by the onion bhaji starter and meat chatt on puri which was delicious. Just the right size portion too. For my main meal I enjoyed a generous portion of the Chicken Tikka Mossala with mince and my husband tried the spicy version which he said had just the right amount of spice but was tasty with it too. We shared pilau rice and a garlic keema naan which was cooked to perfection. To top it off we paid less than what we would usually spend on a takeaway. We were aware that this restaurant didn't sell alcohol (apparently you can bring your own) but we were happy with water after drinking all day. The staff were polite and attentive and the courses were served in a timely manner despite there being lots of customers picking up takeaways. Inside the restaurant we'd have liked a bit more atmosphere as it was very quiet with us being the only table in for the majority of the meal but I don't think this is reflective of usual evenings as I believe the races being on meant it was less busy. All in all I would definitely recommend this restaurant for an authentic tasty Indian meal.

Visited this gem of a restaurant tonight with my wife and two grown up kids. The food is sublime, all four different curries ordered, fresh and tasty. Garlic Naan breads were light and fluffy with just the right amount of garlic. Service was super friendly and courses were to our pace. It’s a BYO restaurant too which keeps the cost down but food prices here are low for the quality of food. Highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful food, service second to none. Our family favourite restaurant, really friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble. They always take time to check on guests, have a little chat and joke. The food is exceptional. As they don’t have a license to sell alcohol, you can take your own in. If you go on specials night, and take your own drink, it works out a really low cost evening, with really high quality food. The lamb chop starter is a must!! Moti Jheel special starter is also delicious! We won’t go anywhere else! Couldn’t recommend enough! Thank you x

Used to be a great place years ago, went tonight and I can honestly say it was the worst Indian takeaway I have ever had! Pershwari Nann was not sweet, infact it was undercooked and salty, curry was very runny and totally tasteless and Keema rice was infact normal Pilau, and not very tasty at that! Wont be going back there again..

6 of us visited last night. After a warm welcome, We each ordered the special banquet meals. Pickles and popadoms came out promptly. Delicious. We all had different starters, each tasted beautiful. The lamb chops were especially tasty! Main meals served quickly after starters were finished. Nothing was too much trouble. We asked for an extra plate for a child who was sharing a meal, and they gave her a plate dressed with a side salad. The meat in the curries was really tasty and moist. Rices and naan breads divine. We will definitely be back! Such welcoming and attentive staff, with top class food at an extremely reasonable price! Thank you :)

Had a takeaway treat tonight and oh my what a treat it most certainly was! Onion bhajis to start and they were fab, obviously freshly prepared and followed by a lamb naga and chicken vindaloo. The chef had certainly not been shy with the meat OR with the chilis in the lamb naga! The lamb was succulent, moist and not overcooked and both dishes were simply deelish! Accompanied by a peshwari nan and mushroom pilau it was a veritable feast fit for a king! We had a bit of an extended wait due to the level of business but it was most definitely worth it!

Registered with Motijheel Cramlington tonight and ordered first meal with them. Ordered at 5.30pm, and was informed order would take about 45mins. Got it at 1900 after complaining by phone. Although very late, the food was nice. Unsure if I would use again as it takes nothing to phone, text or email to explain delays of this amount of time. Something they did not do! Shame really!!

We have become regulars for takeaway meals and visiting as the food is very good, authentic Bangladesh cooking. In my opinion the best you can get apart from Newcastle City Centre. However our takeaway this evening, not the standard we have been offered. It was very greasy, too much ghee, too heavy. I love the food here. The ghee needs to be cut down, I had to drain a lot off the top of the curries.

We visited for the first time after hearing good reports about the Moti Jheel. We took alcohol with us so we could enjoy a beer however the food could easily rival any Indian Restaurant in Cramlington. Two Starters, Two Rice, King Prawn Shimla and a Chicken Madras, Keema Nann and chips. Just £35. Honestly, this place is fantastic. Don’t bother going anywhere else. This meal would have been double the price at other places in Cramlington as less superior.

I’ve been here a few times and never had any complaints. A friend of mine who eats there several times a month told me that it had gone downhill over the last few months, to the point where he had stopped going. I hadn’t been for a while, but going off my own experience, decided to get a take out. I was shocked at how bad it actually was, and ended up throwing most of it away. I only wished I’d listened to my mate. Needless to say, I won’t be going back!

I have been eating at the Moti Jheel for quite a while now and never had any complaints about the food or the service. I don’t know what’s gone wrong, but the food has gone downhill over the last few weeks. I would go as far to say the worst I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a few! At least the Lal Quila is consistently good so that’s where I’ll be going from now on.

We have been regulars at this restaurant/takeaway for a few years, and the food had always been second to none until this week. We ordered our regular meals (2 x Chicken Tikka Rogan, 2 x Chicken Sagg, Onion Pilau & Keema Nana) to take away. Once at home, we dished up and sat down to our meal. We couldn’t believe how bad the food tasted. It was absolutely awful and nothing like what we’re accustomed to from the Moti Jheel. It was so bad that most of it ended in up in the bin. My wife rang to complain, but was fobbed off with ‘We’ll sort something out the next time you’re in’. Not happy with this, we went back to the restaurant where we raised it with the owner. Whilst talking, he confirmed that they had had other complaints about the quality of the food which he put down to a new chef. He stated that they were working with the new chef to improve the quality of the food. Despite being long time loyal customers, our request for a refund was refused, but he stated that he would give us 25% discount on our next visit. From the owners attitude, it is clear he cares nothing for loyal customers, despite openly acknowledging the food was below par. To be honest, I would rather take my business elsewhere than put another penny in his pocket.

Well, where to start. I could discuss the waiter who obviously looked down my friends top, or the fact that my other friend was repeatedly hit in the shoulder by waiters moving furniture. Or being told that chapatti and naan are the same thing. So from the outside the place looks ok, as soon as we walked in the staff immediately greeted us and showed us to a table, my initial impressions are the place needs a hell of a refurbishment, the walls had black marks on the chairs that we had had stains on the the place just felt cobbled together, so I asked the guy have you just opened and are you going to do it up, he really surprised me when he said it had been there for a few years, they do not sell any alcohol but you can take your own, i assume you will pay corkage, I asked for a blackcurrant cordial and water, they didn't have any my mate asked for orange cordial and water, they didn't have that either, the waiter said your the only people to ask for that so he wouldn't buy bottles to just sit there, they only sell bottles of coke and orange and of course Coffee, I told him I come from South Shields where there is 25-30 excellent curry houses, so he had a lot to live up to, the waiter said that in his his opinion the curry houses in South Shields are not very good, I said you have thrown a gauntlet down and your food better be good, so my food, I asked for a starter that wasn't on the menu chicken tikka paneer, the paneer was ok but the chicken breast was fatty and I spat it out, he then asked me what was wrong and I told him that the chick was fatty/grisly, no apologies, but I'm not that bothered, so I had no expectation for the main course, I have to say the main course was very nice, I had chicken tikka jalfrezi with garlic mushroom pilau rice and a keena nan bread, all if it was good, I particularly liked the nan bread, he asked how it was so I told him it was very nice but not as good as about ten of the restaurants in South Shields, which still means it's good, the price for 2 of us with 2 course meal, nan bread, 2 coffees and a pint of coke was £35, so not badly priced, would I go back probably not, unless there was no where else open, it was not bad, the best part of the place was the staff were friendly

Misled, lied to and called a liar ,This used to be my favourite Indian restaurant / takeaway , not anymore I'll never be back . Told on phone order would be 20 mins which I knew would never happen but not a problem I rang after one hour to be told "sorry but someone else in your street ordered after you so we thought we would deliver both together your order just left the shop". The shop is 2 min drive so after 20 mins we rang back to be told that we were lying there is no way they could deliver an order that quick we agreed but where is the order it left your shop 20 mins ago and surprise it was still in the shop so we wanted to cancel to which they said we could have the order free, so ok send it round then. 10 mins later it arrived with someone at the door calling us liars about the time and wanted paid for the order that was the final straw door closed and they can keep the food. I've been going there for years for takeaway and eat in the restaurant but I won't be called a liar, misled and insulted , a simple sorry we are busy we will get it to you as soon as we can would be enough to have kept me as a customer and I would never expect it for free.

I have used moti jheel for years mostly as a takeaway but this last year when I have ordered food has left me somewhat disappointed. I usually order chicken dish and it had always been very enjoyable. However it seems to me that the mest is not marinated in the sauce it looks and tastes as if they just add meat to which ever sauce is ordered the chicken is cubed dry and tastless sitting in a delicious sauce. There seems to be no difference in the taste of the meat no matter if its lamb or chicjen or whether its sitting in a vindaloo sauce or a korma sauce the meat has no 'curry taste' at all. Rice and sauces are tasty and authentic but spoiled by having tastless unmarinated dry meat tossed in at the last minute. Also the 'mango chutney' that they supply resembles nothing of a chutney. Smooth orange paste tastless and artificial. Disappointed with my food after many years of enjoyment. Now unimpressed.

The £9.99 special on a Tues and a Thurs is brilliant, no hidden extras, what you see is what you pay. Can't recommend it highly enough, it's never as busy as it should be which is a real shame but does well with takeaways I believe. Really needs a bit of word of mouth publicity as it's really is a hidden gem. Get yourself doon there!!!!!!

I am a bit of an expert on curries and an ex Chef. There are certain curries that I can judge how good a restaurant is and one is a "Rogan" which is Tomato based.I have visited some establishments where this is not the case and instead of using Tomatoes as the natural colouring , instead they use a lot of read food colouring. The Moti Jheel is no exception to this and in fact this was the worst curry that I have had in a long time and I left most of it as it was tasteless LACED with RED COLOURING which I believe is HARMFUL when consumed in large quantities such as this! The Tomatoes were almost none existent and the chicken had also been marinated in this VILE RED COLOURING.I would recommend anyone to steer away from this place, there are thankfully, some good curry houses in the area.

We have experienced both the restaurant and takeaway element of this establishment, and have been satisfied with both, the food is always delicious, and the service prompt, be that in the restaurant or for delivery.

decided to have a night out in cramlington, get a meal with good friends.we chose to eat at the moti jheel(though we did'nt realise it was an unlicensed restaurant).the staff friendly & efficient & the food was excellent..only downer was the trip down to the supermarket for booze in the rain...never mind, when we go again we'll take the booze with us. I think being unlicensed means they concentrate on the food..which may explain why it was so good.excellent.

You never can tell what a restaurant is like from a website but we struck gold with this place. The staff were very attentive and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our visit even giving us tourist advice! The food was simply some of the best I have ever eaten. All freshly cooked. We took our own beers and we're supplied with glasses and ice without even asking. We would definitely eat here again when we're in the area.

We visited the restaurant last night and were very pleased with all aspects of the service and food. The restaurant was very busy with takeaway orders, but fairly quiet in the restaurant (4 tables, about 10 people dining at about 8pm.The staff were very welcoming and after being seated, asked if we had brought any drinks for which we needed glasses. The fact that any alcohol (or soft drinks also, so it seemed) is "bring your own" means that you don't take a gamble on the house wines and you will be paying the price of a can of lager (£1) rather than the usual £3.50 a pint. Quite a saving on the bill!As usual, we did not have a starter, but ordered poppadoms and pickles, followed by the main courses with nan bread and vegetable side dishes. The food was excellent, in terms of quality and taste and also in quantity. Both the vindaloo and rogon josh were generous, with lots of meat and sauce. The rogon josh was particularly good as it was obvious that it had been made with lots of fresh tomatoes and was considered to be one of the best that my father-in-law had ever tasted (and he's tasted a lot over the years!).The keema nan was quite unusual as it had a tandoori paste covering the top in addition to the spicy lamb mince inside. This added to the taste of course. The only disappointment were the potatoes in the sag aloo. They were quite soft and dry, and spoiled an otherwise tasty vegetable side dish as the spinach and sauce were excellent. So in summary, a great restaurant with friendly, helpful staff and brilliant food, with the added bonus of "bring your own drinks". I'm going back in a week or two and this time taking the whole family.

Just love this place, it is local, and the menu is so good. They are great at making anything you want, nothing has ever been a bother. You bring your own booze with no corkage charge. My husband tried the fish curry, which was cooked to order, and it was five star. Staff are lovely, you have to travel far and wide to find better.

I am a regular customer to this Indian restaurant and it's one of the best Indians I've had and I'm a fanatic. You get to bring your own drink and they provide glasses and ice. You can have a lovely family meal or a meal with your friends as it is a mixture of customers. Excellent service and the waiters are lovely! Highly recommended

The food is good eating in and out small restraunt. The staff are always good they remember us every time we go in they even keep the same table for us every time we visit one thing they have no alcohol licence but you can take your own drinks and they don't charge corkage which is quite good even when you take two bottles of wine with you they keep the other one cool until you need it. No need to reserve during the week Saturday is better.

I had a takeaway from Moti Jheel a couple of nights ago, which I have done many times before and I have also dined there a few times. Every time, the food is superb. The waiting staff are also very friendly and polite. Moti Jheel may not have the reputation of Bay Leaf, which is just down the road, but don't let that put you off as this restaurant is definitely on par, if not better, in terms of food quality.Be prepared that they do not offer alcoholic drinks, although you are free to take your own, which keeps down the cost of an already cheap meal.

Went to the moti for the first time last month and again last night and I can't fault the place , excellent food ,excellent service , good atmosphere and less than 30 quid for two . Taking your own drink is a massive bonus I think and keeps the already inexpensive meal costs down . Used to go to another well known Indians in cramlington and spend double the amount but not any longer . Staff are friendly and courteous and aren't frightened to have a chat with you . Well done the Moti .

8 of us dined very reasonably and there was a good selection of food including some I hadn't seen before. Generous portions (apart from the rice) although we managed to scoff the lot. We liked the idea of bringing our own alcohol especially as there's no corkage. We went on a Sunday and it was very quiet - just us. But Friday and Saturday are supposed to be busier.

My wife and I have visited several times both for a sit in meal and takeaway. The food is always of the highest quality if not a little on the expensive side, but then I guess you get what you pay for. Always quiet but a friendly staff team and good service

Really good value, we shared the Dabba Taal 2 after not knowing what to order and the very helpful young man recommended it. Everything was delicious and enough for two to share. We will be back.
