The best curry around and the service is amazing. They are so friendly and genuine.

This was the best Indian food I’ve ever had, the masala was outstanding, nothing is ever going to compare. Also they do gulab jamun and that is just the cherry on top really

Cracking Indian restaurant in the middle of Alnwick. Staying here for one night on our way south and popped in by chance on a wet Tuesday evening and managed to get the last available table. Deservedly popular with the locals we had a superb meal for two for under 50 quid. Staff lovely, welcoming and helpful. Great food and highly recommended - consider making a reservation as it’s busy. Dead chuffed we found it - you will be as well.

The food and service was great. The garlic mushroom starter was especially good but everything was delicious. Thank you.

Superb meal. 6 of us with varying tastes dined. Service was outstanding, range on the menu was immense. The food was delicious (we all had different courses) and great value for money. We're in the area on a family holiday and will probably eat here at least once more before we head home.

I recently dined at Sheerkhan and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff and owner, who made us feel right at home. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening out. The menu offered a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Each dish was bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. You could taste every single ingredient. The service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive. I highly recommend Sheerkhan to anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience in Alnwick. It's clear that they take great pride in their food and service, and it shows in every aspect. We'll definitely be returning soon!

Fab food, super nice staff, attentive and professional. It's difficult to get one of my teenage boys to eat 'proper' food, but he practically licked his plate clean. Recommended.

On holiday in area and just dropped in early evening for a meal. The food was amazing. Rice in Biriani was cooked to perfection light and fluffy. Helpful and courteous staff. Would definitely reccommend.

Another outstanding meal, haven’t been for a few months so it was great to be back for a birthday cel ration with family. Venue food quality staff all can’t be faulted. The mixed kebab starters are the best around nearly all of the party had them fresh tasty dips and the lamb chops spot on with super fresh salad. Main courses are full Of taste and flavour Mixed grill was huge with king prawns cooked properly I’d recommend Ch tk jalfrezi the nicest I’ve had in a while Anyone visiting Northumberland should make a point of dining here if they want an Indian meal So consistent lovely staff you are guaranteed a quality meal Good drinks selection And cocktails Pinot Grigio rose is a nice bottle to try.

If we could award more stars we would. Best Indian food ever. A lovely restaurant. Extensive and flexible menu. Each dish we tried (we visited twice in a week!) was delicious. The sag aloo is the best we have ever had. We all loved it. Reasonably priced and great quality. The staff are so good, service is friendly and efficient. So glad this was recommended to us. Wish we lived nearer, we would love to come again.

Probably the best Indian restaurant I have been in. Staff were very efficient and friendly. Food was quick at arriving. One lady was checking things all the time. Tables were cleared quickly. Toilets were checked regarding. Will definitely return again.

We had a family dinner at this famous restaurant which has many awards. Their services are top class, but the biriyani and kebab we ordered were not up to great taste. Biriyani was so dry, not moist. It's not true indian taste. The Kebab portion was little. Balance of spices needed to be blended properly.

Good good food and very friendly and helpfull staff. Ordered takeout and waited for the food to get ready and the whole vibe of the place was very nice and clearly popular and appreciated.

Like others have said, accidental find, (the only place open serving food in Alnwick gone 9 on a Sunday night, but who knew what a treat we were in for? Service by the lovely staff spot on, lovely decor and facilities. Then came the food. Wow, Just the most amazing Indian meal we've ever had. Really INTERESTING fresh food. So nice to have imaginative, different dishes, not the usual. Try the vegetable samosa chat and Pakora starters - just incredible dishes. Sag Balti fusion main. Spot on. Will definitely come again. Cracking find, walked in on a Saturday evening staff were very friendly, serving very tasty food. Reasonably priced and good portion sizes. We had three main curries (Mint lamb was excellent) two rice, three naans and 3 drinks (wine / large cobra) which was 68 pounds. Great value for money. Would definitely return.

Small cosy restaurant with a focus on customer service. Food is good and there is a good range. The prawn puri is great and so was the vegetable samosa chaat. Curries are on the milder side but likely due to the general clientele. Flavour is there though so still enjoyable and great value for money too.

Ordered a takeaway as could not get a table, so was very much looking forward to our food. Waited 45 mins not the 20 mins informed. Got onìn bajis not chicken pakora as a starter and mushroom pakora for my wife and mother in law were not as expected Whilst lovely my karahi was not as expected also, but tbh was enjoyable My wifes chicken tikka saag was lovely. TBH having been recommended the restaurant, the food was lovely but we were disappointed as it was not necessarily what we ordered or thought we were getting to eat. We maybe spolied by the fact we eat our curries in Bradford/Leeds

We came across Sherkhans by chance after a day out in Alnwick. Wow, are we glad we decided to dine here!!!!!!! The poppadoms were fresh and crispy with a tangy pickle tray. Our main dishes of Vegetable Punjabi Karahi and Chicken Tikka Zal Roshon were extremely rich in flavour and packed with spices, chillis and garlic. The Garlic and Cheese naan was the lightest and fluffiest I have ever tasted (and I've had a lot!) Proving the freshness of the dough. The complimentary hot lemon towlettes and After Eights dinner mints for us to freshen up and cleanse our palettes were greatly appreciated. A gentleman called Quiyum spent 10 minutes chatting to us at the end of our meal, discussing local tourist spots and a little history about the resteraunt. For us, this is the extra personal touch that makes an already excellent meal into an enjoyable full dining experience. Plus on our way out, another gentleman asked us how the meal was and enquired about the curries we had chosen, as he wanted to make sure the heat level was ok for us, after we had discussed this previously when ordering. Superb service all round and the low cost bill was a pleasant surprise!!

Amazing!!! Had takeaway. Was still hot when we got back to Embleton. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options clearly marked on the menu. Fresh vegetables and delicious vegan roti. Highly recommend and will definitely return. Staff were fab!

Poor meal. Onion rice tasteless. Some Chicken tikka pieces did not taste fresh! Onion bahjis very small... Not impressed at all!

Tried out this restaurant on the basis of the reviews, and we were not disappointed. Friendly staff, cosy ambience (it was 90% full at 6pm) and the food was reasonably priced and excellent quality. It could have done with being a little more spicy for me, but I suppose that's just down to personal taste. An excellent find, glad we went and would highly recommend 😀

It's not the best table down stairs but everything was OK it's a very busy place and sometimes you just have to make the best of it food service was brilliant

Really nice meal and Excellent service. Decided to treat ourselves to a meal sitting in as opposed to take-out on our Wedding Anniversary. Staff very kind, in a practically booked out restaurant were able to fit us in within 10 minutes of ringing to check availability. Covid-19 precautions all in place. Sign in and sanitizer for hands on arrival. Lots of perspex between tables so safe but not given the impression of no space as could still see around us. Attentive staff and beautiful food. Had starters and mains within the hour and no pressure on us going at end of our meal so Husband could enjoy finishing off his Cobra. Great to see the place open and thriving. Will be back again, Thank you!

A friend I was staying with for a couple of days. Treated me to a meal here. As it was my last night in Alnwick. The restaurant. The food. The service. The staff. My vindaloo. Was 100% better than I have had in the area to were I live in Coventry.

Delicious Mother's Day takaway. Huge prawns. Lamb was tender. Generous portions. AMAZING sauces. Bread was great. Just brilliant. Thank you guys!

Great restaurant , food is really authentic and full of flavour , obviously take time to make sure meat is fully infused with spices / flavours , clearly take pride in what they service and how they serve it too , staff look after you really well too , thank you very much best Indian I’ve had in a while !

A real accidental find. Was staying at the Premier Inn up the road and drove into the village of Alnwick for something to eat. The place was quiet but it was a Sunday night. I ate upstairs in the restaurant and the 2 waiters were efficient and polite. The onion bhajis were obviously fresh and were crispy on the outside and unctuous on the inside. I orders Chicken Tikka Dansak which was nice. Not the best I've ever eaten..in my opinion it lacked any lentils and it was a little mild for my taste but I'm being fussy. The bill was about £28 for starter, main and a large Kingfisher beer. Definitely recommend this Indian if you're in the area.

Originally from the North East and been living in London for over 30 years. My parents live in Alnwick and I have been visiting regularly in their old age and my mother mentioned Sherkahn’ had won awards. So I tried a takeaway for the first time about 18 months ago! Having eaten out of Brick Lane in some awesome basic Indian, Pakistani, Bengali and Sri Lankan cafes and restaurants, had meals at Atul Kochar’s, Cyrus Todiwala‘s and Asma Khan’s Darjeeling Express restaurants in London I’ve had some pretty authentic, unique Indian cuisine. Sherkhan’s is up there with the best of the above! I’m in Alnwick visiting again this week and was feeling pretty rough with a sore throat and a bit blocked up, so I decided to order some Indian medicinal grub! Wow! As they catered to my needs by dialing the heat up in my Jalfrezi which cured my soar throat and bunged up nose, I now feel cured. Had the chicken Kathi Kebab…wow! Saag Alloo spices were fab, Mutter Paneer was perfect, had beautiful mushroom rice and the Special Naan is a winner with keema, garlic and coriander. That Lamb Jalfrezi just blew my mind as recommended when I ordered, so don’t be afraid to let them help if you’re not sure. Best thing is I’ve got the other half for tomorrow night! Everyone in Alnwick and all visitors should treasure this beautiful jewel in the crown. I for one can wait to place my next order!

I love Indian cuisine and I have to say this was spectacular. Apart from that the staff and the service was amazing and this is where your journey starts. From entering the premises I felt like we were old friends even though this was our first visit. Staff were amazing, food was exquisite and the Long Island Ice Tea was dangerously delightful. First time here and it won't be the last. As soon as we walked in we felt welcome. This lasted all through the evening. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food, oh the food was fantasticly flavoursome. And if your brave enough try the Long Island Ice Tea cocktail. Exquisite 😋

Family meal for grandchildren 13th birthday. From start to finish staff were attentive , helpful and provided extra treats for kids to help celebrate there day . The food and service was first class could not fault the experience highly recommended.

This place has a well deserved reputation for the service and the quality of the food. The portions are not too outfacing and the flavours were outstanding. It will be a regular for us now when we are in the area.

Simply unbelievable. Visited for the first time on friday 25th Jan. greeted by excellent staff at the door and shown straight to a table (luckily we got in as it was fully booked but we arrived as soon as it opened). Great menu which is extremely well priced. We went for popadoms and pickles, bhuna king prawn on puri, mixed kebab starters which were all cooked perfectly with amazing spice levels and flavour. For mains we went for a lamb tikka mossala (which is the best tasting mossala sauce we have ever tasted and the lamb was so tender) and a mixed meat jalfrezi, again, cooked to perfection. Special rice, special naan and garlic chips. Without a doubt the best meal we have ever eaten and fantastic service to match. If i could rate higher than 5 stars i would easily! Highly recommended

Carry Out ... Second and last time got 3 pots of yellow gunge meant to be 3 different pickle trays as starter last time we had similar 3 times the amount we ordered enough starters for 6 people charged for all wrong meal .

Excellent service and food, possibly the best Indian food I have tasted. I would recommend this restaurant, lovely. We had Chicken Shashlik, Chicken Bhutanese and a King Prawn Biryani - all of which were excellent. The staff were lovely and very attentive.

Absolutely brilliant restaurant! My partner and I went there tonight and had a lovely time. The food was delicious and everyone working there were kind and helpful. I’m vegetarian with a nut allergy and they couldn’t have been more accommodating.

Incredible curry, best Korma I've ever had. So good, we went twice during our holiday! The staff are so friendly and the food is reasonably priced for Indian food. They're good for Gluten free options and they are very well labelled to make it easier to know what you can and can't have

It is No wonder that Sherkhan have just won yet another prestigious award (yesterday 20/11), we visited earlier this evening (21/11) and enjoyed superb food and friendly service, Thank You. If you are in Alnwick you certainly won’t be disappointed if you dine here.

We have enjoyed our takeaways from SherKhan over the years whilst on holiday. The food is so good that I am trying to think of a way to get my local chefs (Sheffield), up here to learn how to cook properly.

Fun family evening out at Sherkan Of Alnwick. We shared starters and ordered main courses plus drinks. Reasonably priced for four people. The quality of the food and the service was first class, we were well looked after. Everything we ordered arrived promptly, there was no excessive waiting so we could enjoy our dinner. We arrived quite early for a 5:30pm. booking and were there for roughly one and half hours when it was packed out. Great atmosphere, nice place to relax with family or friends and stunning window views of the town. I'm certain we will choose Sherkhans again!

Lovely staff and good food. We enjoyed the twist on the samosa starter although we would suggest the samosa above the sauce to retain some crispness. The prawn dansak was particularly good!

Ordered a takeaway fir 6.00pm. and arrived at 5.50. Due to an issue in the kitchen for heating naan bread things were running late...15 minutes to be exact. Arriving home within a couple of minutes....not impressed. What should have been hot food was merely warm,...

A relatively newish restaurant to the Alnwick scene. Very popular with locals & lots of attentive staff. The menu is quite extensive, with some interesting items including fruit based curry sauces. Food very tasty. To note, upstairs caters for large parties & it can be very noisy when full, almost to the extent you can't hear the person opposite you!

Dropped in without a booking, and was lucky enough to be accommodated by the friendly staff. I think this might be one of the best Indian meals I've had this year, absolutely gorgeous. The service was excellent, and the staff were all polite too. I honestly can't recommend this place highly enough. I'm only here on holiday for a week, but if I lived in Alnwick, I'd be a regular customer.

Had a takeaway so cannot comment on restaurant experience but just wanted to say our food was excellent. Full of ingredients. You didn’t have to fish around in loads of sauce for the meat or vegetables. Would visit the restaurant or have a takeaway again...

Delicious food served with character, and in fine surroundings. We tried this place for a birthday meal, while on holiday in Craster and it was a real treat. Just try it if Indian food is your thing! Would advise to book in advance.
