Lovely food and plenty of it, well worth a visit

Visited here for the first time last week and was really disappointed. Service was really slow throughout the meal, the initial problem was that the papadums were visibly burnt and was confirmed by the first taste. I was also disappointed over the size of my mixed kebab starter and my meat thali main. The taste of the offering was OK but at over £55 I thought it very expensive for what it was. I live in South Shields which must be the curry capital of this area so I may be spoilt for choice. I suggest you try elsewhere if quality and portion size are at the top of your list of priorities at this price point.

Been so long since I've been in that little shopping complex where The Mogul Raj is located. Ordered a curry with them for collection last night, and was not disappointed. The food was lovely, and the customer service was top notch. A lot of other establishments could learn from these guys. Friendliness and good service with a smile goes a long way. Unfortunately these days, this is becoming a rare trait. Keep it up! I'll be back again for another curry soon, and will likely have a sit in meal at some point in the near future 🍴🙂💯

Please check your takeaway bag before you leave the premises. I have had something missing twice now, but when you are home and ready for bed etc they say sorry about that, call back for what’s missing! Really not good enough!!!! I won’t go back in a hurry

As always, delicious food, excellent service, lovely friendly people. We have been eating at the Mogul for years now, we have travelled from furthest Northumberland for food. Our grandson is now an expert in the Mogul menu since he first tried the food when he was only 5 years old and is now a connoisseur at 15. It's a must try.

Went for a takeaway on August Bank holiday Saturday. Staff really helpful. Menu was quite extensive and takeaway prices competitive. We ordered butter chicken tikka and a lamb balti. Butter chicken was very similar to chicken korma, no hint of tikka but tasty all the same. The balti was quite spicy, possibly more than would be usual. We started with onion bahji and mixed kebab, possibly nicest bahji we had tasted. All in all, meal was good, and would recommend for the price.

The food at this restaurant is delicious. I always patronise this restaurant when I’m in Ponteland, I live in the west end of Newcastle and rate it better than any other around me. Tandoori chicken and dhal or a Tmr with fresh chillies is my go to. the Service is impeccable too.

This place is a Hidden Gem, special chicken tikka kurma was the best curry dish i have ever had even after travelling to India ! Tandoori mix grill fresh and tasty , all side dishes were fantastic, staff lovely cannot rate this place enough can’t wait to go back !! Who knew a little curry house in the shopping centre Ponteland totally fantastic !!

This is our favourite Indian in the area. Everyone in there has looked after us for years and when we came in this time with our new born baby we were treated like family. Very attentive staff who make incredible food and make everyone feel welcome. We will be back as we have been for over 15 years now

Mogul raj restaurant is the best restaurant ever in Newcastle. I loved there food so much. There staff are so friendly and well behaved.

Probably the best in Pont, the food and the staff are outstanding, I'd never consider using anywhere else.

After reading reviews picked this restaurant. Food was greasy and poor standard. Would not recommend to anyone. Only gave 2 stars as the waiter was friendly and the pilau was edible!

We nearly didn’t go but we’re glad we did! We walked past the night before and nearly cancelled but inside it was great. It was busy which is always a good sign. I booked a table online and got confirmation well before time. Service was quick, there was plenty of staff on. There was a good range of food and the starters (prawn puri and chicken chat) were excellent. The mains were great, lovely fresh coriander used and the nans were really nice. All in all a great experience!

Worst Indians I’ve ever had curry was like pure oil no curry flavour at all disgusting been here maybe 20-30 times and tonight will be the last what you gave me was basically dirty oil out your pan

Only been this once as just thought about trying somewhere new and local. Anyway, staff and food were good. The curry I got (Vegetable Dansak) was very different from the one I get at my usual Indian restaurant but still really nice and a welcome change. We got an Aloo Chaat and Chicken Chaat for starters and again were prepared slightly differently than we are used to but still nice. I think the only slight let down was the Bombay Aloo side order; it didn't have much taste and there was lots of sauce...maybe a bit too oily as well. My partner said the Tikka Masala Curry she had was nice and not too sweet and sickly, like you can sometimes get with that dish. Rice was as expected and the naan bread was really good actually. The atmosphere was good but maybe the music was a couple of notches too loud...just a bit. The prices aren't bad either, especially with the banquet offer we had on a Sunday evening. Drinks prices were lower than I expected and that's a great. I've seen prices £2 or £3 pounds more for a pint or a bottle of beer before in other places so it was great to not have to deal with that pushing up the bill total too much. Take the drinks off and it was comparable to our standard takeaway for us both of about £26....with the drinks (one 660ml Cobra Beer and a soft drink) it was £32 all in.

Great old fashioned curry house. Looking for a curry while waiting for plane departing and came across this gem. Usually go to the Haveli but seems it was closed due to covid. Unsure looking at the menu online as seemed a bit old fashioned but I thought it must be reasonable if in Ponteland. Wasn’t disappointed. I have missed Indian music while eating these past few years as restaurants understandably want to modernise and have been piping in contemporary tunes. I prefer the Pavlovian reaction to traditional Asian singing. Staff were excellent, food very tasty and original in a unique sense. Ok, it was salty and swimming in ghee but that’s how I like it. Was a bit slow but owner apologetic and threw in some freebies to compensate. Will return

Como el Hilton no estaba sirviendo comida, busqué la comida para llevar más cercana y encontré este lugar.Me hicieron un curry que no estaba en el menú a pedido (no muy picante), delicioso, rápido y a un precio muy razonable. Lo bajé en mi habitación de hotel.¡Gracias!

Nos acabamos de mudar a Ponteland y pensamos que tendríamos algo para llevar. ¡Ojalá no lo hubiéramos hecho! Pedimos dos comidas diferentes y recogimos nuestra comida para llevar.Al abrirlos, ambos se veían idénticos, se suponía que uno estaba basado en pepinillos y el otro a base de coco. ¡Nunca había visto tanto aceite flotando encima de una comida para llevar! ! Ambos tenían el mismo sabor, excepto que uno tenía un sabor a curry ligeramente más fuerte. Se supone que ambos son tikka, ¡pero obviamente no! El plato de pepinillos tenía un poco de pepinillo y no coco en el otro. El paneer sag era blando y sin sabor. Lo mejor que podemos decir al respecto es que no se derramó en el coche de camino a casa. No volveremos. No recomendado. ¡Quizás la peor comida india para llevar que hemos tenido! No podía molestarse en llevárselo todo y los perros ni siquiera se lo comían.

Take your chances in the Covid Raj!! No disposable menus, no face masks or visors for staff, no taking details of table members for Track and Trace, and six of us squashed on a table that was barely large enough for four- not enough space on the table to put all our food on. These guys aren’t interested in Covid safety, they just want your money!

Cenamos en The Mogul Raj en su primera reapertura del restaurante el 4 de julio de 2020 y honestamente puedo decir que fue una experiencia excelente. El personal fue tan amable y cortés como siempre y observó el distanciamiento social al tomar nuestro pedido y servir nuestra comida. La comida era muy sabrosa y bien presentada como de costumbre. Todo el restaurante estaba limpio y fresco y debo admitir que estaba un poco nervioso por usar los baños, pero me impresionó cómo olían y se veían tan limpios. En estos tiempos inciertos, puedo decir que nos sentimos seguros en este restaurante y le deseamos a Said y su equipo la mejor de las suertes en el futuro y esperamos volver a visitarlo muy pronto.

Great place! I have been staying near the airport for the last 3 weeks and was looking for somewhere different to eat rather than the hotel. The menu is very extensive with lots of special dishes, many of which I have not seen or tried before. The quality of food is what I can only describe as delicious and authentic. I arrived as a single eater and all of the staff were very friendly and genuine hosts and made me feel very welcome. A nice traditional relaxed surrounding whilst you eat, very clean and comfortable. Thank you for my little treat after my meal, I won’t spoil it for anyone else! I hope to be back before I leave in a couple of weeks. PS if you like a lamb dish, theirs is slow cooked and it’s amazing.

Esta noche, comida para llevar de tandoori mix grill (pierna ennegrecida, mi elección) y keema nan tan buena como cualquiera durante más de 30 años comiendo comida india.Otro orden del domingo menú especial chat de pollo, tikka masala, nan + arroz por 10 gran calidad y valor excepcional.Sayeed constantemente administra y produce alimentos de alta calidad y es un crédito para la profesión.Espero estar visitando por los próximos 20 años.

Todos tuvimos una cena maravillosa y recibimos un servicio excelente y amable. Su menú es más extenso que la mayoría y hay un ambiente agradable y cálido sobre el lugar. Fui aquí temprano un sábado por la noche. Había mirado a Haveli pero parecía un poco OTT, así que me topé con Mogul Raj. El personal acogedor - ordenó el kebab mixto para empezar, que era excelente y el Thali de verduras que era muy bueno. El pan Naan merece una mención especial, que fue la mejor que he tenido.Toda la comida que vi que se traía parecía excelente y cuando salí del restaurante se estaba llenando muy bien con muchos clientes muy satisfechos. ¡Recomendado!

Segunda visita temprano en las puertas 5. 30 pm un viernes. Amable recepción amable, bien cuidado a un ritmo adecuado. La comida fue genial. Muy sabrosos y buenos platos de acompañamiento. El café de cortesía al final fue un buen toque y una factura muy justa. Realmente disfruta de la honestidad y simplicidad de este lugar. Ciertamente volveremos.

Went here on Friday for dinner. Friendly and efficient staff and absolutely fantastic food. Great menu to choose from and nice wine list too. All the staff were attentive and we would certainly recommend this restaurant.

We came her for dinner last night, having not been in quite some time. It was late, we were the only table sitting in, but despite that the service was first class. We were not rushed, the staff were courteous and attentive without being over bearing. We were offered teas and coffees at the end of the meal, despite it being late on a Sunday - often places are keen to shoo customers away asap at 10.30 on a Sunday evening, but not here. The food cannot be faulted - the mogul raj can be relied upon for providing good quality, affordable food with excellent customer service, every time. Thank you again!

Excellent choice, good service and our order was ready quickly and on time. My only criticism was that the dishes did have oil or ghee in which I don’t like so although it was tasty, it didn’t feel healthy.

Visited for a family take away. Freshly cooked and very tasty. Varied menu and always a really good meal. Never been disappointed. Plenty of meat in the meals too. Recommended.

Nuestra primera visita con amigos que habían estado antes. Aunque está ubicado entre un desfile de tiendas, el interior es mucho más impresionante que la vista externa. Hay un montón de aparcamiento cercano.

Tuvimos una comida aquí. 6 personas que reservé no estaban listas para nosotros. Tenía la aplicación de suricatas y no cumplen con la oferta. 6 comidas solo 1 gratis. Dijimos que no estaba bien, así que nos dieron 2 comidas si debería haber sido. 3 dicen que eso es todo lo que podemos tener, por qué hemos estado en el trato si no quieren darle el trato

Éramos un grupo de 10 personas el viernes por la noche, el consenso general fue que la calidad de la comida, el servicio cordial y todo el ambiente de la noche era de primera clase. En términos de relación calidad-precio, las comidas tienen precios razonables y el vino de la casa está en 11. 95 una botella fue excelente.

We have used this restaurant twice in 10 days for a quick takeaway as no time to cook or eat out properly. Service good, food selection good, quality above average and cost acceptable. If you need a above average Indian takeaway this is your solution.

My father contacted the establishment to enquire as to whether the meat was Halal, as we both have a problem with this. We were given conflicting information as to whether it was or not. They were very rude to my 73 year old father, who gave up on trying to find anything else. I called to point out that they were extremely rude to my father and had a heated argument with no information given as to the source of the food. Eventually the gentleman I was speaking to claimed I had false information from a new member of staff. But still I got attitude, suggesting I was drunk, outside the area and should go to another restaurant. The conversation ended with hi saying to me "F£$k You. This restaurant is fine if they're taking your money, but as the lady with the dog, who was a regular customer has pointed out, they're not so friendly otherwise. Avoid this place at all costs, they are the ones with no respect.

Cenamos aquí con 3 colegas. El servicio fue rápido y eficiente. Entrantes y platos principales eran todos muy buenos, tuvimos varios curry y kebabs + ensaladas. Todo estaba buenísimo, fresco y las raciones eran generosas.

Mi esposa y fui a The Mogul Raj en Ponteland. Muy buen personal que extendió una agradable bienvenida. El servicio no pudo ser fallado. Su menú a la carta es muy extenso. Elegimos Chicken Chat y Onion Baji como entrantes. ¡Guauu! ambos eran encantadores y frescos con excelente sabor.

He usado el Mogul durante muchos años y solo uso otros cuando vuelvo a casa desde una dirección diferente. Viajo mucho y tengo que decir que otros puntos de comida en el área están perfectamente bien pero nunca tan buenos. Pointe Land está a unos 40 kilómetros de distancia y hay varios restaurantes y lugares para llevar cerca, pero este ha sido siempre el mejor durante años. Gran personal, excelente servicio y buena comida.

Fuimos allí el sábado, no había reservado, pero conseguimos mesa bien a pesar de que estaba bastante ocupado. Gran menú, variado y para todos. Un buen menú de vinos y los vinos de la casa son excelentes y tienen un precio razonable también. Todo el personal fue amable y eficiente, y nuestras comidas fueron fantásticas, tanto en calidad como en cantidad. Restaurante bastante pequeño pero muy agradable y cómodo. El aparcamiento disponible cerca y los aseos están subiendo un tramo de escaleras. Sin duda lo recomendaría y estoy deseando volver.

Excellent grub and superb service

Love this place. Having visited various parts of India numerous times, Mogul Raj caters for any taste. Even low fat, lesser calories, low salt eaters. The only takeaway we will ever have.
