Beautiful food. Business lunch £10.95, extremely good value for money, portion sizes are generous and the flavours were fantastic, thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back when visiting Saltcoats.

Haven't been here for a while but what a transformation. Excellent. Same friendly atmosphere and service as before. Food was excellent. We will be back soon.

I have been coming to Saltcoats my whole life and tonight was the first time I ate in motherland spice. BEST Indian food I’ve ever had . Service was excellent , staff offered advice on dishes and were all very friendly. All of the food we ate was excellent very flavoursome . We will definitely be back and recommend to others .

My order was placed at 5:25 and arrived at 7:45. As the order hadn’t arrived after two hours I phoned the restaurant to ask where it was, and was told it was out for delivery. The driver left the restaurant at 7pm with my meal and didn’t arrive until 7:45. Unsurprisingly it was stone cold. Extremely disappointed not to be informed that I would have to wait so long.

Best traditional Indian restaurant around personally. Takeaway tastes just amazing as eating in the restaurant. Fair for pricing of food also. Very happy :-)

Had dinner tonight as a family of 4…..all adults. Food was absolutely exceptional, service was professional and very friendly. We all had different mains and each one was excellent. Best Indian food in the West of Scotland without a doubt.

Probably the best Indian restaurant in the country. The quality of the food is nothing short of outstanding, the service is friendly, and value for money, can't be beaten. We have visited more than a few times, and it doesn't matter what we pick from the menu, it never fails to deliver. And naan bread....I thought I'd had delicious naans before, this place just kicks it up to a whole new level. Can't recommend highly enough!

We’ve been to Motherland Spice regularly over the past year after receiving a recommendation. The food is consistently excellent and the service is very good too. The prices are competitive and cheaper than you’d expect to pay in places like Glasgow. We always believed you had to go to Glasgow for a good curry but this definitely isn’t true. Motherland Spice is a great choice for an Indian restaurant in Ayrshire, it has all the old favourites and less common Nepalese dishes too, if you give it a try you won’t regret it.

Great value for money for a 3 course business lunch. All staff are so friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend to book, no matter what time of day you are going at.

Food has really improved, only disappointed about the Everest lager hasn't been put back on draft 😕

First time there ,food and service was great,everyone had said it would be and they were spot on also business lunch £11,00 for a 3 course was great value, we cannot wait to go back.

Ordered a takeaway & what you have to admire is the quantity, then the taste has the quality, the food is immense, the staff are polite, professional & the timing they gave for the pick up of the food was spot on, can't fault this place....

We had a great lunch here yesterday, I had chicken kahari with tandoori roti and my wife had chicken bhuna with plain nan. Both of us had pakoras to start and I had ice cream to finnish while she had lovely coffee. Great friendly service and quick as well. All in all a lovely restaurant . At a reasonable cost we'll be back for sure. We'll done

12 of us went there for a family birthday meal. What a pleasure - everything was excellent; food, service and environment.

Ordered here for the first time, hearing only good reviews. Can't be more disappointed. We ordered Haryali and Jalfrezi, both of them were supposed to be spicy by default. I made a request to the restaurant to make both curries "very hot (spicy)" which was completely ingnored... Both curries were rather tasteless and mild at best. Nan size was average and decent. Starter of nepalese chk tikka was ok. The only rather positive from this order/experience. Will definitely won't order again.

Gutted to not be giving 5 stars as we’ve always had great food from the Motherland, however tonight a couple of small things weren’t quite right - I got chicken tikka instead of normal chicken breast and the peshwari nan was hard and not sweet at all. I’m usually buzzin to eat the second half of my meal the next day but I think I’ll just bin the rest tonight tbh. 🙁

Service is terrible! Asked 3 times for the missing rice with no fruition, when I handed back the dish and asked for it to be removed from the bill, only then did they want to give me what I required to enjoy my dinner. By then it was far too late my appetite was dead like the meal sitting before me! If you can't manage large bookings then don't take them! Shocking service and a total disregard to the customers!

What a great night out. Meal was amazing and reasonably priced. Service was very efficient. The staff were amazing and friendly could not do enough for us, but at the same time not invasive. The restaurant is very clean and modern. We will definitely make this a regular night out . A must place to go. Well done to all

My friend highly recommend this restaurant and am so pleased to say that it was phenomenal. Busy Saturday night, waited a while to be seated despite booking however it was definitely worth the wait. Place is spotless, lovely surroundings, staff are so friendly and helpful. The food itself was so so good. Portion sizes are just right. Great value for money. We will definitely return.

Absolutely hopeless for take away - It took 2 and a half hours to arrive (again) - food was close. Avoid. Even the driver was embarrassed - the restaurant is great but the take away in very very poor. Force to same more - absolutely dreadful take away

I love the restaurant always clean and tidy . The staff and owners always giving excellent service,?they go above and beyond to male you feel 🙏 welcome. The food, is amazing never had a bad meal it's so tasty cooked to how you like it. I go between chicken shazlik, Chicken tikka bazzra also chasni lamb dishes. All amazing always busy great atmosphere and if you can't get in the takeaway/home delivery service is just the same as sitting in. Though be prepared to wait a bit ,as it's always so busy . Overall an enjoyable night out for all the family well worth 5 stars and above .

This is by far the best curry we have had in a very longtime. Had no idea this restaurant existed until my son told us about the reviews so of course we tried it and the reviews were correct. Service was good the food was excellent and it was very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend and will certainly go back again.

We had lunch here today (30th Dec.) organised by our camera club and despite there being 27 of us, the food was delivered very efficiently. The food was great just the way we like it.

Delicious food as always. Arrived early, so an added bonus. I wouldn’t eat veg pakora from anywhere else, as Motherlands Spice has the perfect recipe! I usually order the tandoori meats too, the spices and seasonings are complex and moreish.

Food cold, forgot the garlic Nan. Had better quality curries before, disappointed as it has a good local reputation.

Very freshly prepared high standard of Indian Cuisine. Good portions for a three course set meal business lunch menu. Can't fault this place. Lovely decor cosy atmosphere relaxing surroundings. I had the mixed pakora with chutney dip starter the veg pakora was a 10/10. Chasni chicken curry10/10 pilau rice light& fluffy perfect.10/10. Nan breads garlic & peshwari excellent. Amazing food in a modern well run restaurant. It’s always extremely busy regardless what day you go we came during the week and it was near at capacity at lunchtime. The food is absolutely delicious and so athletic. There’s something for everyone and if your favourite dish isn’t on the menu you can pay extra (£1/£1.50) for your favourite at lunchtime which I do I normally get my favourite which is a jalfrezi and it’s always well worth it and delicious! It’s also very good value especially in this day and age and I think that’s why it’s always so busy as well as the fantastic food!

Food always very good, it’s a busy place especially on a Saturday so deliveries can be late. Nothing we can’t live with. I called and they were really helpful

Motherland was recommended to us and the reviews are very positive, however, our experience, on the whole, was disappointing. Sag paneer was lovely and the other curries were ok, but nothing special. The pakora and nans were awful. They did not seem fresh at all, pakora a bit rubbery, and nans were tough - fairly Inedible.

We decided to order a carry-out for delivery, rather than eat in the restaurant, which was probably a mistake. The person who took our order over the phone didn’t seem to understand the menu, mispronounced or confused almost every item, and still got it wrong...

Brilliant place great food great staff run by a lovely couple make you feel right at home wouldn't hesitate about coming back oh and you definitely get what you pay for well done
