Mother Hubbard's Salford in Salford

I always order from Mother Hubbards and have been since 2021 and its my go-to. Love the freshness of the fish and the chunkiness of the fries is perfect and the taste too. Everything is a 10/10 for me.

Just had a fish and chips meal deal £9.99. Both the fish and chips were delicious- cooked perfectly. The guy serving was very polite and professional. The restaurant is smart and very clean - best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time.

I used to love getting my fish and chips from here. Unfortunately the portion size of the fish is getting smaller and smaller. The fish is now approximately 3/4 of the size it used to be. I no longer think this place is as good value as it once was. The 'Meal Deal 1' is no longer worth the £9.99 they charge for it. I will be getting my weekly fish & chips elsewhere from now on

I've not been to a Mother Hubbards in years - it used to be a treat - a drive out as a kid - the food was very nice andcgood value.

I ordered the fish and chips and they have a strange waxy residue on them which is left in the mouth. The waxy residue stays in the mouth not matter how much water you drink. This is the second time it’s happened when I’ve ordered from here, I thought last time might have been a one off but the food was the same today. The food tastes good and the portion size is good and clearly of a good quality too. It’s just the awful waxy residue.

I have been going here since it opened, and always enjoyed it. But today I ate here and it was awful. The chips had definitely been reheated was dry and just horrible. Especially for the price your paying you expect fresh chips at least, not good enough and will think twice before going here again.

Normally love a meal from here but tonight it's cold chips and hardly any with cold peas the fish was freshly made though but won't be going again tried calling and no response

Great place, super fast and friendly service. Had the spicy battered fish sandwich (uses fresh fish - delicious!) which inc cheese, sweet chili sauce (not mayo) and comes with chips. Photos on the menu are of the real food! Prices are cheap for the amount of food you get.

Its been quite a while since I had Fish and Chips as tasty as these. These guys have just taken it to the next level. The staff are so friendly and polite. The restaurant is kept clean and tidy every few minutes. Awesome job guys!! Will come again!!

I went to the chip shop on a Friday. It looks great, but there was four members of staff behind the counter and I still had to wait nearly 10 minutes for my takeaway food. Service was so slow it’s only a chip shop you should be in and out. As for the food, very poor, small portion of chips, dry pie and the gravy was far too thick to cover the chips or the pie. The only good thing is it wasn’t too expensive but I will not be going back. They tried to reinvent the chip shop for no reason.

Came in and ordered was waiting for the food as I was taking out to be told to go and sit down rudely, got chicken nuggets for my son and when we opened the box there was hairs in the food, the chips were very plain and dry no salt and vinegar like asked

Food tastes so fresh and always reaches me hot as I’ve always had it delivered and I’ve never been to the shop. The staff always listen and read my requests when I order which is great.

Receptionist very, very bad communication as well. Whenever I give the order they delay second thing I told don’t give these things on my face. They do third thing by walk. I pick up the order. I observe the environment they gossiping they just chitchat. They just I don’t know why these kind of people hire and work in this big chain, I’m not happy with the staff with the environment. The orders always always late shame on the mother Hubbard.

Decent for what it was, but curry sauce had zero spice, chips dried up very quickly, and tea came out of a coffee machine, meaning it wasn't brewed to the right temperature. £8.45 for chips, sausage, curry sauce, tea and a bottle of water isn't bad value, plus the sausage was extremely nice.

A very average chippy. Having been to other Mother Hubbards before, i was very optimistic as it’s usually very, very good but this was just average. Ordered a sausage, chips and gravy, for quite a few chips to be undercooked, the sausage to be… well, that was a sausage shaped something but it was oddly mushy and didn’t taste like a usual chippy sausage and the a piddly amount of gravy that was relatively cold. It wasn’t the worst chippy I’ve ever had but from what’s to expect of a Mother Hubbard’s, this was way below par.

Paid over £10 for cold chip…disappointed

My bowels have literally not recovered since having chips from this place. Something to do with the grease, I would not recommend.

We had lunch on Friday, good portion, good quality fish & chips, served with a smile. Nice & clean seating area, I must the the cheese cake was 10/10 great atmosphere.

Best fisn and chips ive eaten. Service 10/10. Would reccomend to anybody.

Halal food, Spicy chicken is delicious, hot not super big but with chips it’s enough

The food in here is freshly cooked, the fish absolutely fabulous, lightly battered, white and fluffy fish, really tasty. Chips were cooked to perfection. We dined in. Everywhere was clean and tidy, service was good. Wheel chair accessible. Would go again and recommend to others.

Great food! Especially the sausage and the cheese and onion pie. Fish is crunchy and soft inside. Always left over with chips since a lot is given 😅. Overall, great place.

Food is lovely, fish and chips cost 8.49 add a drink and a side (recommended) the gravy sauce is amazing for the chips. The fish was massive with a crisp batter, a little oily though. Overall it's a must try.

Ordered a few things and was VERY disappointed Buy 1 get 1 free Haddock fish bites & large chips on uber This was NOT haddock and these were NOT fish bites it was 0.5cm-1cm strips as seen in picture, also this was NOT large chips Fiery fish bites and large chips These were actual bites how the haddock ones shouldn't have been however it was still smaller than other branches but was very tasty , again NOT large chips This behaviour is misleading to customer's and VERY damaging to mother hubbards brand as other branches give proper thick fish bites and large chips I can only assume becuase there offering buy 1 get 1 free they were tricking people by give you 1 portion split between 2 boxes Also to note the cost of both these items are £5 more on each than going instore

Best fish and chips in Manchester!

Fish was very nice and staff very friendly, definately recommend.

Excellent fish and chips and it would be great if there was a local one near me in London. The chips were fresh and chunky and the fish had a really tasty batter that was crispy while the fish remained flaky and delicate. The restaurant looked very clean and the staff working there all seemed to appear very smart and friendly.

I was actually surprised the packaging for our meal was good, it didn’t go everywhere and securely packed and it was actually slightly warm. I didn’t believe the Jumbo would feed 4 people but omg it was a huge portion and the fish was chunky, as fish these days are always thin and small. The reason why I gave it 4 stars was the chips, chips were slightly let down as it didn’t taste fresh compared to other places I have had it. It had a sandy and really dry texture.

Not the best chippy in Salford… I ordered chips and scraps which were warm when received, but weren’t very crispy. Furthermore, there wasn’t any flavour in them whatsoever with a crazy amount of salt and pepper needed to make them feel edible. This place seems more like a Chippy being ran like a Fried Chicken Shop… I’d recommend going to The Kingfisher near Aldi on the other side of Salford Shopping City as it is tastier and much cheaper!

False Advertising. Burger shown on menu to have two fillets, but served with 1. When asked about it, was told that's just the picture. However at other mother Hubbards restaurants, they do put two fillets. Also, the burgers were clearly not freshly cooked, despite having to wait nearly 10 minutes for our order. :/

My spicy chicken burger only had 1 chicken piece on it when on the picture it’s shows two. I visited another branch and they did as it showed but this one doesn’t sadly. Wouldn’t recommend this one if you are wanting to get the big one get one free on the spicy chicken burgers.

I suspect you'll need to edit that answer now ;-) The worst fish and chips I’ve ever had! The fish feels like it was frozen before it got battered possibly as the batter just came off the fish as soon as I touched it! The texture of the fish isn’t soft either and just not pleasant to eat! The chips are ok but the portion size is on the small side. Its a world away from other branches of Mother Hubbards I’ve been too. This place gives it a really bad name! Honestly I would avoid this branch at all costs, its awful!

The best fish and chips shop I have ever tried. Such a great experience which is why we are regulars. The staff is charming and nice, the atmosphere feels like a modern fish and chips shop with the traditional newspaper on the wall. Huge variety of menu options all great and delicious thank you!!

Just been in for takeaway. Got to be the worst fish and chips ever. The fish was tiny and over cooked. Chips shockingly prepared and full of black marks. For the price we paid, I won't be returning any time soon.

It is just another chippy with average food, average service and average atmosphere. Nothing outstanding and nothing bad at all. If I'm hungry, I would go there again for ease of access. But the great thing I'd that it is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet although I can't comment on its condition as I didn't use it.

Best Fish & Chips I have had. Great size portions. Everything is top quality and made to order. The new fiery fish wrap is also the best wrap I have ever had, very unique and delicious. Great experience and staff were extremely polite.

I was visiting Salford for a quick business trip. It was my first time to dine in this restaurant. I ordered their spicy fish. It was absolutely delicious! In addition, the staff was very polite and welcoming. 5 star service.

Menus says £5.95 for one burger, and a second one for free. Was charged £8.95 and told that the "buy one get one free offer" adds £3 onto the price. Staff were rude when asked about it and told us to just take it anyway and said all 4 menus around the shop were out of date and being replaced. Burgers were actually excellent though, and one staff member apologized afterwards.

Good ambience, clean and hygienic

One of the best fish and chips i have ever had and the taste is awesome. Had fierry fish and chips with coke and oh boy the portion size is huge for single person. Fish is marinated in some chilli and other secret incredients and the result is tender and juicy fish with soft chips.

The chips were cold and dry, can tell they were not made fresh today. The fish was re-fried and dry no flavour. The burgers dry and have a funny smell , extremely disappointed. Oder at your own risk of food poisoning.

Went there first time today got fish chips peas the fish in batter was all falling apart and to much batter on it ! the chips they were going to give me we’re old so they cooked new and only good 2 hand full in a try and peas were disgusting so much salt tasted vial I would never go there again I eat the food had very bad stomach pains overall everything was disgusting and paid £10 went all the way to Salford from cheethamhill wasn’t worth it

The fiery fish was amazing. I was looking around for something really spicy and this caught my eye. This was my first visit to Mother Hubbard's. The fiery fish portion they give is very generous and it is provided with an ample amount of fresh chips. The restaurant is really clean and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Definitely going to be a regular customer.
