Very disappointed with the experience. Staff unfriendly, food thrown on plate. I know it's a supermarket cafe but some pride in work would be appreciated!!

I shop in Whitehaven Morrisons every week with my mum and sister. We usually go to the cafe just for a cuppa and snack. However over the last few week's we have give it a miss and went to Tesco's instead. There is never any staff, the place is dirty and tables are often cluttered with dirty trays. The staff that do work there look fed up and miserable. Maybe this is to do with the staffing situation, but they need to collect dirty trays in. They just walk past them. The meals are usually good and my mam likes to go there because she meets a lot of friends who she doesn't often see. We decided to give it a try again today. After 15 minutes of standing waiting to be served we give up. There was only 2 staff members on, the table's were a lot cleaner but maybe that's because there was hardly any customers. We were not the only ones to go there were other people who had, had enough. I'm afraid I won't be going back into the cafe again and will go back to Tesco's. There is more staff, they are very efficient and the cafe is lovely and clean. I feel really sorry for the staff at Morrisons cafe, it's about time the manager of the store sorted things out.

Popped into the cafe today as I was hungry but alone. Hard not to feel like Billy no mates but I felt really comfortable with the atmosphere. I had the fish gougons and was really pleasantly surprised! Only three as this was on the lite bites menu but this was plenty as they were a really good size, real fish with a lovely flaky flesh and a very generous portion of tartare sauce. Well done!! You have upped your game since I last ate there, feel proud of yourselves!!!

Morrisons cafes to me serve a purpose, someone who is out shopping might be tempted to buy a cheap meal or a sandwich, or in my case, the visit to Morrisons Cafe coincided with a long power cut and I needed a meal in a hurry. While never the most memorable place to visit, I will say Morrisons cafes are cheap and cheerful, with most falling into the £ 5-6 range and offers available for families. Also the portions are decent and the service is quick, even with the COVID restrictions.( You have to sign a form with your details or complete a phone app and wear a face covering until you are served). In the Whitehaven branch, the staff are friendly, which makes a visit more enjoyable. Meals I do recommend are the burger meals and their fish and chips, which are as big as in a fish restaurant, and their curries are acceptable for the money. Also they have a wide range of cakes and sandwiches at low prices.

I don't know where to start with this disaster. First, the delivery was painfully late – like, “I could’ve walked to the restaurant faster than they drove here” late. I’m convinced the food came from a far-off land... and by that, I mean the back of a delivery van that hadn’t been cleaned since the 90s. When the food finally arrived, it looked like it had been thrown into the box by someone who hated their life. The fries? Soggy and sad, probably as a result of being undercooked and overcooked at the same time. The burger? It looked like it was assembled by someone who didn’t care if I had taste buds or not – the bun was stale, the patty was a sad, gray lump, and don’t even get me started on the "cheese" that looked more like plastic. The drink was the best part, because at least it was something I could actually drink without gagging. I could’ve sworn I was eating cardboard with a side of disappointment. Next time, I’ll skip the "takeaway" and take a trip to somewhere that knows what they're doing. I wouldn't feed this to my dog. In fact, I think my dog might refuse to eat it out of protest. Avoid this place unless you’re looking for an experience that makes you question all of your life choices.

I'm struggling with 1 star, we ate here last night Mon 24/2/25 the food was inedible. I'm surprised any chef who has any pride in his work would allow such food out of the kitchen. We waited 15mins from ordering to table. That should have told us all we needed to know. I ordered the ribs which were luke warm and the chips looked like they had been sat most of the day n refried to warm them through 🤢 about the only thing that looked fresh was the salad. The other half ordered the steak & ale pie which was alright according to him but the chips were in the same sorry state. I didn't eat my meal and couldn't wait to leave ☹️ It goes without saying we will not be returning.

Still an excellent place to eat with high standards. Please consider bringing hot plates with food instead of giving cold plates when the order is taken.
