Morrisons Tynemouth Cafe in North Tyneside

Visited for a convenient lunch at the market street kitchen. The only unit open was the bird and baste which had some pre packaged nuggets and the wrap station. No menus were advertised making the whole process difficult. We had to ask what was on offer and decide there and then. No prices were up either

As expected, the range of goods at reasonable prices. The staff have always been helpful.

Poor. This store never has enough stock. I get that it wants to reduce food waste . I went today to find that there were no cooked chickens ready. Hello - It's Sunday - Sunday Roast day. Morrisons need to anticipate demand and plan better.

Morrisons is my nearest shop for a big shop, but it has gone down hill not much selection, always out of bread, milk, and has a really bad choice of spirits, needs to buck their ideas up,or will be over taken by the others

Many items out of stock and prices have risen to the extent that we will now go to Sainsbury's as there prices and stack are better.

You can get some good deals with a Morrison more card but you do need to be aware of prices elsewhere.

Shop was well stocked and clean. Staff very helpful

Better than tesco by far but a lot of long time gaps in normal stock such as crustless bread and some chewing gums. Staff can be a bit miserable but generally ok. Good promotions usually well stocked. Shame they close the garden centre long before season end but usually a great range of seasonal plants and bulbs. Overall for me though, id rather use Morrisons than the other supermarkets

Reasonable prices loads of choices for almost everything !

Absolutely love Morrisons in Dukinfield! It's my go-to for fresh produce, amazing quality meat, and a fantastic variety of products. The staff are always friendly and helpful, making every visit a pleasure. The store is clean and well-organized, and the prices are competitive. I highly recommend this Morrisons to anyone in the area!

The shop itself was fine but on our way out we stopped at the kiosk to buy some scratchcards. 3 behind the counter but only one serving. Elderly chap who we could see may have had some health concerns was left to serve a very long queue on his own. Morrisons you clearly need to address this.

This shop is in decline. The wet fish counter has been poorly stocked for some time despite advertising Fish Friday. Some of the assistant-manned tills have been replaced by self-service, resulting in queues of those unable or unwilling to use them. Today there was no wet fish. There is no logical sequence of how the order of products are arranged. Today there were no brown paper bags in the vegetable section and no small trollies at the entrance, but that is not unusual. Since raising the shelving during Covid, the store has been dark and depressing compared with like supermarkets UPDATE Things go from bad to worse. Rows of broken freezers. New self service checkouts unavailable. Some old self service ones out of order. Some new hot food discontinued and chefs fired. Lot of discontented staff. UPDATE 20/08/2024 NO WET FISH. Almost half crisp shelves empty. Sinage in freezer aisles updated, but old signs still in situ. Only two tills with staff. 6 customers with big trolleys waiting (12.30 pm) Where is the manager, or is he/she powerless? A disgrace!

My favourite supermarket at the moment plus I get 10 % off my bill as well. Thanks!

Good shopping area plenty of free parking and lots of products to choice from and good place to shop

Nice big supermarket which had everything I needed, I'm not from the area but found it easy enough to find what I needed

UPDATE:- 11/03/24 Be prepared for long wait at tills. Obviously staffing issues. 2 staff on self serve and 2 checkouts only. Counted 20 people waiting at checkouts and slow service. Maybe could learn something from Aldi on how to deal with that... CAFE...Not so good. Busy, but only 4 staff on. 2 in kitchen and 2 on floor. 1 person covering the till AND serving hot drinks at same time. 1 trying to dish food out while drinks ran out of cups coz dishwasher not covered. No trays available as not getting replenished. So be prepared to WAIT a long time for to be served. IE my meal was served and getting cold while I waited for the poor girl to find time to serve my coffee. BAD.. Parking ok...always a spot somewhere even when busy. Typical large Morrisons store with cafe and petrol station. This one does have a nifty section for party stuff..decorations cakes balloons etc Always check till slip for the bargains. Might say bargain on shelf label, but a few times I've got back home to find I've paid full price!! Now got new hot food counters. Meals, chicken, pies, pizzas and salad bar. UPDATE. Look out for mistakes. IE Air Fresh priced at £4.50. But same products put on shelf saying 2 for £6. Not the same. You would end up paying £9. Same product to left of peony fragrance

Morrisons used to be really good, catering for those on tight budgets producing a range of really good value products. These days however, that's gone and now their budget ranges are lower quality and such not good value. Such a shame. Don't get me wrong, the produce is good quality and meats and fish are good, but the prices are on the higher side, making the discounters like Aldi and Lidl better value. By far the best attribute is an instore meat counter, with a trained butcher. Too many stores are abandoning this for prepackaged meats (yes I mean you Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda) all just to save a penny or too, forgwtting about the customers. A butcher that can advise and provide well prepared products should be in every store.

One of the biggest morrisons i visited around the tyne and wear,Bakery and dairy products are great but still the price are slightly higher comparatively with lidl and aldi,Meal deal section has good varieties.

Sadly half the Morrisons Kitchen is rarely open and with no clear signs of who serves what it's a bit of a wasted potential. Majority of the staff of friendly and helpfull. Some the older female staff on the self checkouts are pretty rude and don't care if you know they are unhappy with shifts etc. Still a pretty good Morrisons though.

Shop is a utter disgrace. Went today to do shopping spent 45mins full trolly of food. No tills open. Seen a staff member i asked could you get a till open. No sorry got to do self service. Well wont be back for fuel or food. Sainsbury's for me going forward. Was loyal to Morrison but you can see it go down hill over the past year. You can see staff dont like working there.

Stood nearly 15 mins and so called hot food court ,one poor lad responsible for all outlets as staff all decide to go on there break at once , at cooked chicken counter food left out and sauce in bottles 4 days out of date not very good hygiene really,only plus point was the poor woman who did serve me and could not apologise enough , Morrisons sort your self out ,more managers than people who want to work ,never again!!!!!!!

Congratulations to the chef! (and I use that term very loosely) at Morrisons North Shields on producing the worst breakfast I have ever had in my entire life, without exception! I love a full English breakfast in the morning and was really looking forward to the Morrisons Big Breakfast this morning after a 12 hour night shift. The picture on display certainly looked very inviting with beautifully cooked eggs, fresh and tasty looking Bacon, Sausages and all of the accompaniments you would expect to find on a typical English fry up But I was truly lost for words, when after a long delay, (mainly due to the fact that they thought, for some strangely unknown reason I had only ordered toast) my breakfast eventually turned up! What was placed, very sheepishly, I might add before me, was truly amazing! So, I must congratulate the person who managed to produce this incredible piece of culinary terrorism! It must take great skill to produce an egg, so badly dripping in oil and unevenly cooked that I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be fried, hard boiled, sunny side up, down or maybe some strange combination of all of the above! In fact I can only describe the egg as a greasy, gelatinous object, that gave the impression that it was of alien origin and I thoroughly expected it to get up and walk off the plate and consume everything in its path at any second! The Bacon was so thin and overcooked that it could not be cut with a knife (a power saw might have done the trick), let alone be consumed! The sausage was of the frozen variety, and it was obvious that it had become frost bitten at some point and been lying around for too long before being cooked to death! May it rest in peace, after suffering such torture and abuse at the hands of this culinary serial killer👹 As for the rest of this masterfully prepared nightmare! Well, see the attached picture as for once in my life I find myself lost for words! I can only congratulate and have total admiration for the individual who managed to screw up a traditional English breakfast (the backbone of English society and the driving force behind the working classes) so badly! The level of skill and total dedication required to be able to cook to such a degree of pure destruction is absolutely beyond comprehension, so again, my heartfelt congratulations, and needless to say. The next time I want a decent fry up after a long shift, I will ensure that Morrisons is the last place on earth I will visit to get one!

As a field service engineer I’m out and about eating here and there all the time & this is one of the most horrible breakfasts I’ve ever had. Asked for no mushroom - came with mushroom. Asked for extra bacon - didn’t get it. Bacon was raw so asked for it to be done a bit more and they deep fried it! Disgusting. Had to ask again for the bacon I paid extra for. The hash browns were incinerated and saturated with horrid fat. And there was a spoon full of beans. The ‘large’ latte is a waste of money too.

CAFE REVIEW I ordered the mixed roasted veg panini and this is what I got ( see photo ) a mix of different sized onions and a centimetre of a pepper. Absolutely shocking. The staff who brought the food out honestly could not care less.

Awful breakfast. Used the build your own option. Hash browns were burnt. Sausage was tiny, you only get ONE mushroom in the mushroom option. Most items cost £1 and amount to the world’s most expensive sausage, toast and mushrooms. £7:50 later total let down. Woman on the till looked very unhappy. Maybe she had one of their own breakfasts.

Morrisons is very close to my house and used to be my number 1 shop but over the last year I have noticed that the shop is always a mess the self checkouts are never working and employees alway on the phone and understaffed. The worst part is when I went recently and I was going to get some frozen corn off the cob but it wasn’t frozen at all and boxes of ‘frozen’ meat lying on the floor and water all over the floor. The market kitchen is never fully open and always understaffed. There are always pallets in the isles blocking the way. With the only nice part being the bread section which is still okay. And also pigeons inside flying around.

Advertising cooked extra tasty chickens on app for £4 instead of £6.49 with more card at 11 am today they where none cooked & no sign on shop floor Advertising this offer even the staff had to enquire as they didn't know about

Staff are friendly usually plenty of choice generally plenty parking but wish they would cut the bushes down so when entering or leaving you can see cars or kids on scooters also to make it two lanes on leaving as its so tight for the cars coming in seen too many near misses 😢

Easy to navigate as a person of reduced mobility. Good range of products for general needs. Souch is self service nowadays, but always find the staff at the Deli Meat, Fish and Customer Service areas friendly and helpful

Cafe seemed complicated,needs more staff front of house.

Wanted a cuppa so ordered from machine and found a table. We waited for about 15 minutes. Had to go to counter and ask how much longer we'd have to wait. I was told there was something wrong with the ordering system in that it wasn't showing up on the till. There wasn't a notice on the machine to let people know to order from the counter. We certainly won't be using morrison's cafe again.

Always a good selection of food, however we have stopped using this place now because its uncomfortably cold in the store. Heating seems to have been permanently disabled.

It's the better of the big supermarkets. A necessary evil as the local stores are now all closed.

Big Morrisons and ample parking. Customer services have been very helpful in the past.

Love shopping there staff are friendly and helpful they have a wide variety of foods both English and international. Fantastic butchers as well as fish counter.

Okay for nice fresh bread but more pricey than Sainsbury's for some things

Petrol station is appauling. Tyre air machines, vacuum and jetwash are always out of order.

There's a lady I belive she's called Garceilla, she works on the char and grill section and she's just so lovely! Great service from her and so consistent with the service, she served us 4 times over a couple of months.

Very large car park a really good selection of goods and super friendly staff all you could ask for really in a supermarket

Fantastic store. There is a brilliant selection of food. I always find new things or flavours in this place. It's a big store but well layed out. Stuff is logical and easy to find.

The to good to go bags aren't worth it

I shop at Morrison's on a regular basis and always find the staff friendly and helpful and apart from the odd occasion when Rice Milk and Sunflower margarine are scarce, Morrison's is satisfactory.

Very Large Morrisons store with good options of hot food counters which offer a wide selection of food. There are also a good amount of staffed tills with small wait times during peak times. A good supermarket to visit for your food shopping. Morrisons Tynemouth also have a large Cafe which serves good food and drink options although the breakfasts there used to be much larger for a cheaper cost. Tynemouth Pool is also close by if you wanted to call in afterwards for a bite to eat. Staff very friendly and always happy to help finding items you are looking for as the store is very large.

Great shop, really like the new self-service tills, no queues any more. Keep it up!

12. 12 .23 at the garage to inflate my tyres. One machine out of order and when I eventually figured out how much I had to pay (exorbitant)in the second machine it just showed E1 and deflated my tyres even more. Not acceptable!!

Salad bar was a complete mess with bits of food all over the counter. A morrisons staff member came over and accused me of messing it up. Howay man, I'm a 36 year old just trying to get some lunch.

Used to be good but they messed it all up. Introducing the extra self checkouts and getting rid of the normal checkouts. All its done is make it much slower..

It's very cold in this shop. Slow through the tills. Never anyone on the butchery department. Freezers are iced up and water on the floor.

As I usually shop in Lidl and Aldi it's nice to go to another store for a change. Masses of choice, including their own brands, and special offers to tempt most people to part with their hard earned. On the whole...still more expensive than the previous two stores I mentioned.

understaffed and for some reason are pushing the self service checkouts. not a good shopping experience anymore. also, paid £1 for cheese on a burger it was £1 for x1 cheese slice 😩

Good store to shop in, love it and used it for last 23years.

I like morrisons and they're new like takeaway food street but unfortunately a few of the kiosks are no longer open. My kids loved a waffle pop as a treat at the end of a shop.

Popped in for some shopping, first thing you notice is the street market food stalls have reduced in number. Products are still the same one or two good offers, e.g 2x18 pack of diet coke for £13.

Nice store but I'm absolutely shocked at the prices these days. Alcohol is probably the only items that are reasonable in price. Things like cleaning products and shower gels soap etc wow 😳 very expensive..who remembers the dats years and years ago where loads of products were buy one get one free..long long those days have gone .

The service and food at the café was terrible. I'm assuming a bad day with the head chef off sick. Acorn Antiques ,do you remember? The store manager called me and I'm very happy with the response.

Shop here most weeks, usually have most of my listed items in stock. Fruit & Veg good.

Our local Morrisons. Been coming here for years. Used to be an excellent shopping experience. The recent American acquisition is beginning to tell though. Very sad.

Well stocked but only 2 checkouts on at 4pm... queues at both checkouts & self scan .. This is the norm in all morrisons shops now...

Absolute disgrace, no clean tables floor filthy, asked if someone could clear a table for us to be told there wasn't anybody in a unprofessional manner, she then told us only 3 staff had turned in to work that morning, My husband said it wasn't our problem and responded that it wasn't hers either, we left and won't be returning...

Twice recently visited your store, only the big trolleys available for shopping. I like the smaller ones especially when you suffer with a bad back.

Majority off sandwiches in meal deal are all stale and there is conveniently placed iteams around the meal deal that included so you pay full price for the stale meal, all hot food is from the day before and is solid

Has improved since my last visit so have given it an extra star. Got some great flowers in a box as a gift for someone.

Good value for money, especially you will find the best steaks in budegt here.

Nice staff, clean shop but an annoying layout of goods. I like the cooked food market street but the increased price of pizza has put me off buying again.

Called in before shopping with my mother around 13:15. First met with a nice open area which was the only positive of the visit. There was no trays at the front of the area where they should be but right at the back where they were just sitting in a heap. There were a number of tables dirty with trays, cups, plates etc. just sitting there. The male member of staff seemed to look sick of his life as he seemed to be the only member actually doing something. The older woman on the till was miserable as sin, seriously lacking in any basic customer service skills and seemed to want to serve us on her time and tried to hurry me to place my order when we were deciding. Picked up a cold drink, a sandwich and asked for a pot of tea and was abruptly told the price of this without any please or thank you. I looked at the member of staff to see where do I pick the tea up from and they just wafted their hand in the general direction of the male member of staff, who at this time was running from the little serving area from the kitchen to the tables We stood around, for another three or four minutes till I finally got the attention of the male member who advised that she will need to do teas as he is rushed off his feet. This was obviously a shock to the older member of staff due to the disgusted look she threw out at him. The older member seemed to throw a small strop preparing the pot of tea and was asked "milk" - I nodded in acknowledgement and was met with a disgruntled sigh by her like this was too much effort or it was beneath her to do. The next chap being served got a similar treatment by this member of staff also.

Best shop ever. Pizza from the take away thing is gorgeous and huge. Defo recommended

Morrisons at Tynemouth has a very good Market section, where freshly prepared dishes are prepared. I tried one of the stands, which have a street food-like look to them, and enjoyed a tasty hot wrap. It's a really good concept.
