Cafe closes for food at 2.30pm but doesn't close till 6pm

Firstly a repair man was repairing the coffee machine and the smell of stagnant water was rancid, making us retch. The cups were all stained, so I went for replacements but they were also stained. We had to shout around the back of the till for someone to serve us, although I must admit the lady was lovely when she came. All in all, I won’t be going back to Morrisons cafe.

I wanted a coffee and a breakfast bap. I walked into the cafe about 11am this morning. There were no staff anywhere to be seen. Hung around for 5 minutes, still no one, so I left hungry, thirsty and disappointed. Next time I will go somewhere else.

Took a long time to get served. The tables were left not cleaned. Took ages to get my food .all in all not a good experience. Not recommended by me at the moment..

Went for a breakfast and obviously I didn't expect this to be your local farm shop type standard, but it would have been nice to actually taste something other than the deep fat fryer. Everything on the plate was pretty much the same colour (overcooked), dry & all tasted exactly the same. Strange choice using the crust for fried bread, it was that heavy you could have put a window in with it! The place was an absolute tip so you're surrounded by dirty tables and food on the floor. Obviously understaffed as there was literally only one lady doing till & working the floor. The only shining light (and the reason for the 2 stars) was that lady who was absolutely lovely and obviously trying her very best without complaint & working hard to get on top of things. £8.88 for a breakfast and a coffee isn't the most expensive around but still represents poor value for money given the inedible & poor quality produce. Spend £2 more and there are far better independently owned places locally.

We thought we would try morrisons breakfast for a change as we hadn't had one of theirs for many years. We ordered 1 hot chocolate 1 coffee 1 large breakfast 1 small breakfast... Right so.... We made our way to the drinks machines to get our hot drinks.. 1 machine broke. So queued at the other.. Hot chocolate came out as just hot milk. Asked cafe assistant she just simply replied "oh it never work".. Great start... Lights not on in cafe quite dark as it was gloomy outside.. No heating on either so quite cold... Breakfast were shocking 'large' was the size of a small.. And the small.. Well I've had more stuck between my teeth.. Many items were cold.. Bacon looked boiled as it certainly hadn't seen a grill... I wouldn't advise anyone to go there for breakfast.. Plus it's not the cheapest around either... AVOID!

Food hard and cold. Service poor too.

We used to visit this cafe occasionally, food was good and it was very clean. That is no longer the case. My husband’s roast dinner had spent a considerable amount of time in the warmer, the carrots looked as if they had been cooked some days previously. My food was awful too, I left most of it. Not visiting again.

Absolutely Disgusting Dont waste your money there ar Mortisons Cafe in Connahs Quay ffordd llanarth its Re-Heated especially the Chips (uch) you wait for atleast 30/40minutes Fish in Batter tested Old and the Service was Shiti wont be going there again have given them 3 chances now i wold Sack them all and start afresh enough said AVOID

It's a shame to see this once nice cafe deteriorate so much. I had a burger and chips there yesterday. The chips were asbsolutely awful. They're no longer using the normal nice chips they used before, but changed to small ,horrible, overcooked type. They no longer provide sugar sachets, but leave sugar cubes on a plate, to help yourself (unhygienic) to say the least. Am not sure whether this is company policy or local branch management. I'll continue to shop there , but will not use this cafe again.

So after dropping the kids off at school and having come off nights what better thing to do than grab a nice breakfast before jumping into bed, and today Morrisons Cafe Connah's Quay which is right on my door step, was the location of choice! After leaving my car and skipping into the store knowing my breakfast was just minutes away it was like Christmas Day...... I could not wait! After arriving at the "Order Point" I.e the Till, I was meet by Casper the invisible staff worker, we tried to communicate for a number of minutes before the Ghost to English language barrier got the better of us and I decided to stick my head into the kitchen, I was aware it was early so kept my noise to a minimum, as startling the staff was the last thing I wanted, especially as they could have been in a deep sleep around hot pans! Anyway the important part...... what do I order!! Now as I am trying to finally release my inner 6 pac which has been hidden for 20+years I went for: 1 x Brown Bread 1 × Beans 2 x Poached egg. 1 x coffee ( healthy enough) I paid my £5.40 and hungrily took my seat, eager to see the feast appear.... After a decent 5 mins and like the old programme " stars in there eye's my food appeared from the wall and was making its way over to me....... I laid my eye's on it for the first time..... I smiled at the staff carrying said plate to be polite but inside I was screaming 😱 Was it my mistake, do hobbits eat here and I was to blame for ordering a breakfast from the shire..... I checked the menu, no, no hobbit opition, this was an adult breakfast. The poached eggs, the jewel on the plate was obviously cooked in a £12.99 poached egg machine my 5 year old loves, but also says " daddy why are the eggs so small", the beans or should I say Bean, covered only 1/4 of a slice of toast, and I use the word "Toast" lightly, unlike the use of the toaster that is obviously set to high. After 32 seconds breakfast was over..... and now back to bed hungry , £5.40 lighter and the taste of burnt toast, 1 bean and a hamster egg to think of. Disappointed.

Every time, and I literally mean every single time I come here, there’s no one to be seen anywhere near the checkout or counter area, so each time I’ve had to hover around the counter for ages, and even go in around the corner to ask someone to come out and serve! By which point there’s always a queue building up, it’s not staff shortages either as they are all just chatting in the kitchen until someone has to come out and serve. So today, I’ve arrived to an empty counter, stood waiting to just pay for a coffee and cake, no sign of anyone, then stick my head in around the counter to kitchen area to grab someone’s attention, they see me, there’s a girl waiting with a tray for whatever else is to be added by the chef…. Did she need to be waiting in there though? Still no one comes out, there’s now more people behind me, so I stick my head around again, and she picks up the tray, walks past me- doesn’t even acknowledge or look at me, and delivers the tray to a waiting guest, They needed something like pepper or something additional so now she has to walk past us in the queue now again, keeping us waiting, and at least says “2 secs” but still no eye contact. She delivered the pepper , comes back to checkout, there’s no apology for the wait, no eye contact, just “is that everything?” While looking at the coffee mug and cake. I said yes, her next words were “£3”. No please, no thanks, no how was your day? Think this kind of customer service went out a long time ago . It’s got great potential here, but please please set up some sort of rule that there’s always someone with decent customer care skills out in front of house - ye could make so much more money if someone was here!!! Thanks

Went there for lunch, I ordered the seasonal brie bacon and cranberry toastie, it cost 5 quid. I waited half an hour, time on receipt was 12:22 and it was gone 10 to 1. After raising this with a woman working in the canteen she came out 10 seconds later with a box. When I looked at it it was a limp toastie, obviously been sat in a box steaming itself soft. After dropping off the box, she left and there was no one available to talk to. After 2nd look at the toastie, there wasn't even bacon. Here though, I was completely out of order. I do apologise to the lady behind the kiosk, different part of the shop. She had done nothing wrong and I lost my head, my language was appalling to her and she definitely didn't deserve it. I am so sorry to her. Ultimately, the cafe at Morrisons is not worth it at all. The service was God awful and the food is overpriced and very poor.

Extremely happy with my visit. I was instantly welcomed by the café manager. I used the order at table option which was quick and easy to do. All the staff that passed my table looked happy and smiley. I was very happy to see good covid19 precautions still in place including spaced out tables and screens between them meaning I felt safe the entire visit. I ordered a cheeseburger with chips and the app even allowed me to add bacon. The girl who brought it our, Sophie, was helpful and chatty. Claire and Jane who were also present on the dining area were also extremely pleasant. I visit regularly, using the café to do college coursework and every week is a positive experience. I couldn't possibly give a 5 star rating every week but this visit I felt it was absolutely necessary. Thank you ladies for the remarkable experience.

Went to Morrisons in Connah quay I bought two items one was alcohol, when scanned it the assistant came over to check I was older enough. Usually in any other shop Iv been to they would take the security tag off at the same time. So when I scanned both my items and payed for them I walked out but because the assistant hadn’t taken the tag off the alarms went off! I went back in the shop to get the assistant to take the tag off, she said “I hadn’t payed for it and she didn’t remember me” it had only been a minute ago! I got my statement up on my phone and showed it her she wasn’t interested and told me to get it out of her face she was very rude! Then someone else came along I’m guessing she was the manager and she was just as unhelpful! The security guard was the only one with abit of common sense he noticed the two items added up to what was on my statement! Won’t be shopping there again and il tell all my family and friends not to shop there.

Went as a group of 5 for breakfast , I am a wheelchair user. Tables for 4 I can't fit under asked if I could pull a two seater Tabe to ours 6ft away told no I can eat where I was or move to a table on my own. As I was with carers and family fir. Safety reasons I stayed where I was had to hold breakfast in one hand while I ate, I email Morrisons telling them the situation stating I had photos taken and giving them an opportunity to respond before I posted my review. No reply at all off them. . their policy states they clean tables regularly so it wouldn't have taken any effort to clean a small table only I would touch . .I felt if they can't accommodate a family with a person in a wheelchair how would they cope with families bigger than 4. A reply would have stopped me posting this review.

I’ve eaten at several Morrisons supermarket cafes and the breakfast at the Connahs Quay supermarket cafe was not the best experience. The cashier/server could have been more pleasant and the meal was below standard. The mushroom was greasy and had a rubbery skin with a strange taste which lingered for days afterwards and made me concerned for my health. The meal was only just warm, despite being served to me within 15 minutes. I was in the cafe for 45 mins and did not see any customer complete any of the COVID-19 track-and-trace forms which were on the table at the cafe entrance. I completed my form while waiting for my breakfast but was not asked for it.

Dont bother. No speciality tea. Waitress handed me a single teabag and was surprised when I refused it because she had touched it. Manager was trying to make excuses for her.

Beautiful cooked fresh burger and the staff Mandy and Claire were welcoming and friendly. Was really happy with the service. Will definitely re visit.

Went in a few times lately, the food has always been very good, the are always happy to help. Today I was served by a male who seemed relatively new but was absolutely fantastic. I'm sorry I didn't note his name.

Kids enjoyed the nuggets meals but my breakfast was awful, not very hot & blackpudding was rock hard! Wont hurry back

Tried the breakfast large and a smaller one. but even at half price not worth it, awful. The plate was cold, the food was cold, Scrambled egg is not fresh egg it was disgusting, bacon tasted of fish and mushrooms greasy. Very disappointing

great breakfast after early start shopping and a reasonable price cafe was clean and tidy plenty of items on list for eats for breakfast .

Food was ok good value tool grandchildren they where very happy with there meal as well will be going back maybe for fish and chips

They first brought out a chocolate fudge cake with fresh cream on which I made very clear that I didn’t want as I really dislike it so I then go and complain and ask for a FRESH one with squirty cream on instead. I receive it back pretty much straight away freezing cold and with the fresh cream still at the bottom the the fudge cake, really not happy about this as they were the one who made the mistake, they should listen to their customers more!

I ended up in Morrisons Cafe while doing a one day course at the nearby Coleg Cambria. It's a reasonably sized cafe and appeared to be pretty well organised as despite being busy everything seemed to be ticking over quite nicely and my food arrived in good time. Although it was lunchtime I opted for a Big Breakfast (breakfast is served until 3pm). It was a reasonable breakfast and certainly not the worst I've ever had from a supermarket. The yolk in my poached egg could maybe have been a bit more runny, the bacon could perhaps have been cooked a little longer (my preference if for bacon that's on the verge of cremation but that's just me) and I was a bit disappointed that toast was an optional extra given that this is a "Big" breakfast but on the whole I was happy enough.

i gve this an average rating because it wasnt vey clean and the store itself is just the same. however, i think this is an alright place for a quick meal if your on your way to work or something.

Sunday morning breakfast was in need after a few drinks night before. Once we had the nightmare of trying to order we were good to go. Very polite lady on till but had no clue how to use and make requested breakfast changes. Nice and light and self service tea and coffee. Breakfast came and while fantastic value as £6 for the big daddy, the poached eggs and hash browns were overdone. However for a supermarket value cafe what do you expect. Very impressed with the overall package of value, food and setting.

Best place to go if you attend Coleg Cambria or Connah's Quay High School. Prefect for workers and builders on lunch or a break. The service is great along with the food which is lovely. Reasonable prices. Service time is reasonable for a good cafe.

Great fish n chips, a bit of a wait but worth it, clean cafe, nice staff friendly, willing to help you, just nice and pleasent all round really.

We ordered baked potato, filled with tuna, and coleslaw for 70p extra for me and chicken soup with a roll for my wife. After paying, we were told that only tomato soup was available. My wife agreed to that. When the soup arrived there was no roll. We told a worker this. She said we only paid a pound for the soup so no roll. We told her that we paid two pounds so she went off, emerged with a roll, went to the till, presumably to check out bill, then went back in the kitchen and finally brought the roll. My wife was now halfway through her already tepid soup. My coleslaw arrived - well, a spoonful did -70p !! A JOKE. RIP-OFF. I then challenged the assistant, offhandedly she said that was a full portion.

awful, what more can I say? Tea semi warm weak and like dishwater. Food had been standing a long time and staff although they tried to smile you could see they really were ashamed to be there.

Breakfast on a Saturday morning. Staff pleasant enough. We ordered 2 full breakfasts and some sides of toast for our son and an extra black pudding. To be fair the toast and black pudding was the freshest and tastiest items on the plates. Most other items were on the other side of kept warm too long.

Myself and friends often go for their fish and chips they are not greasy and taste good . It lets itself down a bit because it is usually under staffed so whilst staff are lovely there are not enough of them.

Doesn't serve gluten free options and seem to think it's a diet

Well on my last review I said I would not eat here again, I wished I had kept my word. Waited 35 mins again for my food. This seems to be the normal waiting time looking at other reviews. 3 tables before us had a 30 min wait as well. only about 6 tables taken so it was very quiet. told the duty manager to complain and he said he would look in to the matter. thing is after 5 mins wait my wife took her diabetic injection and has to eat about 5 mins later. it was another 20 mins before our food was delivered.No apologies were given to us by the waitress. Diabolical wait and service.

mum and i were in morrisons at lunch time with a small toddler, decided to have two light bites and a toddlers meal, firstly we waited at an empty till with our then hot coffee for at least 6 minutes, not a sole in sight, she was busy chatting in the kitchen when i put my head round to call for assistance, sorry to interrupt but while your chatting our coffee is now cold, she was not the nicest person when she did bother to serve us, when the meal did arrive i had the most dried up handful of peas i have ever seen, the chips were hard and had been cooked and left to sit, and i had four small scampi, total waste of money, my mum had the smallest fish and chips, same problem with peas and chips, we were totally discussted with the whole meal, the service and the cleanliness of the cafe, we will not be going back again or telling anyone else too.

A friend and I decided to grab something to eat while shopping, we were going to have a sandwich then we saw the notice of sausage egg chips and beans, we couldn't resist, it was only £3, we thought isn't would only be a small portion but when it came we had three sausages, it was really tasty and fantastic value. Also couldn't resist the lovely crumble and custard for just £1

I always call at this café when I am in the area on my bike. I always get good service from the girls. The food is always great I've never had a problem here. The coffee is lovely and always hot. Well done.

What an unpleasant experience, it's a dirty unfriendly slow paced cafe with the cheapest quality of food I've ever come across definitely wouldn't go back even if it was free.

Basically you get what you pay for... none special. Just about average.... The staff do their job... place is reasonably clean and tidy... Would i recommend, if you were tried and knackered ok

We haven't been for ages, what a transformation,the food seemed hotter, fresher, and more edible. Well done morrisons you do listen will be eating here more often.

While shopping here with my boys (aged 3 and 5) they asked me to take them for lunch here having enjoyed it with their grandparents a week earlier. I was a little reluctant having read the reviews, to the point that I didn't order myself a meal although I did pick at the boys food. The staff were friendly and the price was reasonable but on the downside the seating was a little worn and the cutlery could have been cleaner. The food itself was okay: both boys had fish and chips and I have to say the fish was pretty good. The chips are obviously frozen which was a pity but most cafes are these days so I suppose I shouldn't grumble to much. Overall Morrisons could improve this place but its ok for a quick bite to eat. Not somewhere I would choose but the next time the boys ask to have lunch here I will probably order something for myself.

I tend to take out family here stupidly cause it's £10 for us all to eat. But my husband has now banned me cause it is always so awful. Food takes forever to come out (nothing ever fresh made always microwave or fryer) more often than not half the meal is hours old my bacon has looked like rubber, beans were dry and discussing and last time my jacket potato was orange it was that old. Sausages look like them and beans have come from breakfast. All in all horrendous. I know you get what u pay for but if kids didn't eat free these meals would cost upto £20 seriously not sure they should have a cafe.

I was greeted by a warm and friendly older woman. I believe her name was Karen. She clearly knew the meaning of 5* customer service. She was extremely polite and friendly. She made a nice atmosphere before we even got to the pay till. If only all staff were like this. I would happily come back. The food for the price was ok.

I've just read all of the other reviews and can't believe Morrisons can't be bothered to respond. Service was embarrassingly bad. I tried to make my own coffee from the self service machine but it had run out of milk. Tried to find staff but they were all hiding in the kitchen. Probably short staffed so may not be their fault but Morrisons really should read these poor reviews. While I was sat down I saw several other customers pop their heads into the kitchen to see what the delay was. My local supermarket but I won't bother with the cafe again.

I came to Morrisons café recently and was shocked at the service! I was waiting for 40 minutes for my food until I got up and asked to cancel my order and get my money back, this wasn't a problem as the staff understood it was not appropriate to wait such a length of time. The cutlery is vile, everything just looks dirty, definitely will need to bring your own knife and fork if you wish to eat here. The staff are friendly enough but the issue is that they are so under-staffed they can't cope, which is not fair to them or to the customers! Step it up Morrisons, put on enough staff to efficiently run the café!

One word - Dirty!! Dirty floor, dirty tables, dirty cutlery. Nobody at till to take order. No excuse as cafe was quiet. A pack of anti septic wipes should be issued with each meal.

The coffee in Morrison's cafe is pretty good for the price so no complaints there. The club sandwich was just ok but never setting the world on fire.

I often visited here when I lived in Connahs Quay, and I always ordered toast and a cup of tea. Always received lovely service from Lisa, the nursery nurse from Pentre. I miss visiting the café and the girls there. I would recommend to have twinings tea instead of English breakfast as the taste is stronger.

Went here to get breakfast for myself and my partner on a Sunday morning. When I got to the desk there was no one there but lots of chatting going on in the back. I coughed, cleared my throat and still no one came. I then stepped to the side where you can see into the kitchen and to my horror there was a member of staff in her shoes on the work surfaces where there was food being prepped at the side of her. I'm not completely sure what she was doing. I then needed to ask if they had any bigger lids for the filtered drinks as non fitted even for the smallest cups again I had to go around to the kitchen area and they said no. There was then a que behind me in which no one seemed to be bothered and just carried on messing around in the kitchen, 4 members of staff, one que and non of them on the till. When I got my food to take out its nothing to get overly excited about. Cheap sausages stale bread!

Only been in the cafe twice in recent weeks whilst on business in the area and was quite impressed with the full breakfast but seems like they may be understaffed at times-i had to wait several minutes (as did other customers) to pay at the till before sitting down-but overall a clean and tidy cafe in pleasant surroundings.

Very disappointed that the cafe has gone down hill, the food is not as fresh as it used to be. The staff are usually over worked and some members of staff are rude. The food seems like it has been microwaved as it tastes very rubbery. I do hope morrisons pick up the standards because i was a very regular visitor.

Met friends in cafe. Been there a few times. Sandwiches and cakes lovely but hot meals a disappointment. Chicken and fish has an odd taste. Very friendly staff and very clean. When I shop there again. I will stick to sandwiches and coffee.

As a family we eat here every week. When the cafe first opened it had a good selection on the menu & the food was cooked very well. Now the menu has changed they have taken a lot of the best food off. The breakfasts can be hit or miss. You either get a good one (very rare) or it comes out all greasy & not very appertising. The cooked meals are awfull. I had a lamb shank dinner one day & I had to send it back twice the gravy was all glooped as it had not been in the microwave long enough!!!! I must say all the staff are hard working & very pleasant its they dont have enough staff on duty. Please changr the menu & bring back the Pucker pies & maybe cheese on toast & the roast dinners. The best thing about the cafe are the childrens boxs & meals

We used to eat there quite often usually a brecky but about a year ago the standard of service and the food have declined. It looks like the café is understaffed and we don't even get the welcome we used to get.

Amazed at the reviews for this cafe as I have always found it to be spot on. Great prices and food plus the chance to relax whilst getting my car serviced at the local garage.

It's comical, despite it being so terrible, we still go back once in a while because it's so close to where we live, we try to order safe things that can't go wrong because if it can it will. Last time I poured myself an apple juice, it was orange in colour. Tasting it I discovered that it was a beautiful blend of Apple and orange. I told the girl on the till and got an awkward smile and all the time we were there no one went over to it. At the till I ordered scampi and chips twice (safe). 2 tiny meals with a drink each for £11 was not good value for money. We had about 12 chips each. No matter. Then we turn around to get cutlery and someone is complaining that there are no forks. (Approx 50 knives though). They were told that the forks were in the dishwasher. We took knives and napkins and sat down. 15 minutes later, still no forks, but no food either so alls good. A few more people complained and after about 20 mins some forks arrived, still no food. Then a couple of minutes later a lady came out with 1 plate shouting "scampi and chips!" I didn't let on at first because i assumed it must be someone else's with there only being one. No, it was ours, then I had to ask for the other one, she didn't know about the other one, but in fairness she went back to the kitchen and then reappeared fairly quickly with the other. My expectations are never high when I go there so I am never disappointed, I just find it amusing now, but I do wish it would improve as it's convenient. The other thing. All the other morrisons in the area use good thick bacon on their breakfasts, this one uses the thinnest bacon I have ever seen! Where are the brand standards?

Our local supermarket. Me and my wife have had quite a few meals in this cafe but sorry no more. Last weeks breakfast we had to wait 25 mins for it and it was not fresh. This morning we had a 35 min wait. Food was good but come on morrisons whats going on, place was not bizzy and quite few people had the same wait. My wife had her diabetic jab when we sat down and was getting desperate as she has to eat within 10 to 15 mins of the jab. Not eating there again. Pearl and jef. (Jefs lawnmowers)
