Moreno's in Leeds

We visited as a family group after a day out at Temple Newsam and enjoyed the food very much. They catered well for 12, including children. Friendly staff.

My partner and I went for the first time to Morenos even though we have lived in the area all our lives! God knows how we have missed this little gem! The food was to absolutely to die for and the service was second to none! Such a beautiful home ran restaurant! Lucky forward to returning back here soon! Would highly recommend!

I initially just wanted to find a nearby restaurant, and I stumbled upon this one. It turned out to be really delicious! There was a pleasant surprise in the taste, and the prices were also very reasonable

Literally just come back from the best night out I’ve had in a long time! We arrived early and were seated straight away and the staff had the menus ready and drinks at the table in mere minutes. Honestly, it was that quick! We had a mix of tapas/starters and a main and each dish was a culinary delight. Seriously, I couldn’t fault a single part of the food. It was what you hope for from Michelin restaurants: homey atmosphere, good food and staff who are there at the drop of a hat. I wish I’d taken pictures of each dish because they were presented beautifully and you could tell the chef had put a lot of effort into getting it just right and the flavours, my god the flavours, they were mind blowing. I personally recommend the Steak Diane because that was truly melt in the mouth gorgeous and the peppercorn sauce was divine. I haven’t had peppercorn sauce that good since Hard Rock Cafe was still in Leeds which should give you a clue as to how nice it was. If you’re looking for a restaurant that can cater to a variety of tastes, makes sure everything is as you like it and are friendly and cheerful to boot, I can’t recommend Moreno’s highly enough. 10/10 will be back again and will be telling all my friends and family about it because this is truly a hidden gem!

We are fans of North African cuisine - the food was OK but nothing to write home about. The service was not good. We like to take our time with a meal - order slowly if we want, and enjoy our conversation. The waiter (who said he was the owner) got distinctly annoyed with us when we hadn't chosen our food order within five minutes of arriving. "Order in two minutes please!" he barked. Also he was dressed as though he'd come in from an afternoon of gardening! Going out to eat isn't just about food, it's about taking the time to enjoy an evening in good company. Good service is about encouraging that atmosphere. Strangely, once we'd ordered, he wasn't attentive. We had to get out of our seats to ask for another drink, and also at the end of the meal to find him so we could pay our bill. The restaurant was pretty much empty on a Friday night. Not much of an ambience, and the Aerosmith playing quite loudly didn't help either. It's hard to know why he was hurrying us - maybe he just wanted to close early on a wash-out evening.

We have been wanting to visit here for ages and tonight we finally got the chance. We called the restaurant and asked if they had a table free, the owner said they had just had a cancellation. When we arrived we were greeted by the most friendliest staff, the owner and his son. Fast service and very attentive. We ordered a couple of light starters, the aubergine bruschetta and hummus with pittas and olives. Tasted absolutely beautiful! For the mains we ordered pepperoni pizza and chicken and apricot tajine. Wow just lovely authentic cooked food. We will absolutely be going back again very soon! The owners are so lovely and welcoming. Thanks for having us!

Came here for my dads birthday, food was delicious!! Can tell all freshly made. Had the patatas bravas and the penne moreno and they were amazing, really good portions. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming again.

We visited Morenos this evening and had a superb meal, Calamari and lamb skewers as starters and Lamb Moreno for main with ice cream and coffee to finish. It was a very good experience. The food was exceptional and the service was first class throughout. We were greeted and warmly welcomed, through the evening Moreno and his young waiter were kind and attentive and above all welcoming and friendly. It was without doubt the best meal we have had in a long time. Thank you everyone at Morenos

Visited mid-week, restaurant was very quiet, ordered a selection of various tapas. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. Staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Will definitely return.

Came here tonight for our tea with 8 others the restaurant was very busy but it didn't disappoint! Reasonably priced .. amazing freshly cooked food and the staff go above and beyond especially Jamal & Hassan. 5 stars to the chef!

Back again to my favourite restaurant, as always it didn't disappoint. I had the chicken a la morrocain and it was delicious, I didn't even need a knife the chicken was so tender. Jamal and Hassan are great hosts, always polite and friendly. Hopefully back soon to this family run restaurant.

Amazing food, literally the most mouth watering tasty food I've had every time I come. The sangria is amazing too, 100% recommend this restaurant. Staff are so friendly and the owner is even in and around to say hi which Ive never had at any other restaurant!

Absolutely love this place. The place is run by a lovely family, always welcoming and happy to see you. The food is outstanding, I've never had a better meal anywhere.

Over priced and very disappointing tapas, the calamari was awful and tasted like a frozen packet meal, also two chicken kebabs with 3 small chunks of meat on each skewer and the majority of the plate filled with a simple salad, consisting of mostly lettuce, all of the other tapas didn't taste freshly made but frozen or re-heated tinned food products. Nice people, but we ultimately went for a nice meal. Cost wasn't initially an issue, but bad value for your money in this difficult economic climate makes everything much worse.

This evening was the 1st time me and my partner visited Moreno's, it was so delicious, the king prawn starter was to die for!!!! Literally the best starter I've EVER had!!! The whole service from start to finish was fab, it was a nice polite young man who served us, very attentive and well mannered, we will look forward to returning! Thank you so much! That king prawn starter though 👌 wow!

Fabulous small family owned & Run establishment,so much more than the big chain restaurants that are ten a penny . You can see the difference in every aspect as in the way they treat every customer as one of their own family .Food is excellent with a good choice with something for everyone without the menu being too extensive . A memorable evening out in a relaxed atmosphere.

This is such a lovely restaurant. There is an extensive menu so there is something for everyone and there are different spice options which is wonderful. When the food came it was fresh and hot and tasted incredible. The young server that was working welcomed us with warm greetings and was incredibly attentive the whole time we were there. The staff all made themselves available for if we needed anything. It was a lovely experience all round.

Went here tonight with my friend Gemma . We didn’t want large meals so we chose 5 tapas ( approx 6/7 £ each to share and a bottle (£18 ish ) for wine . The service we received was excellent the young lad (jamiala , not sure or spelling) was an absolute gem. He was so attentive and made sure were had all we asked for .. he’s an asset to this business. The owner came to see if we were all ok etc etc . The food taste fresh and vibrant. This was our 1st visit and I can assure anyone reading this….it won’t be our last .. the tagines ( about £16 / £18 each ) that were served on other tables look fab so next time I will have one . And I have to add the back ground music was just up my street . So all in all .. great service great ambience great fun night . Well done you guys xxxxxx

Moreno's Moroccan Restaurant ever!! Tonight we took the plunge and went for our date night close to home and do you know what I'm so glad we did they gave us a nice warm welcoming, the food was amazing! Very well presented too! In all fairness a 5* from me, and to top it off it was cheap too what more could you possibly ask for. Thank you 😊

Used to go here when it was a parade of shops, over 50 years ago and have wanted to go to Morenos for 20 years. Gave it a try, on a quiet night when only two tables occupied. I got a vegan tagine, which was extortionate in price for what I got. It was nice but would not have filled me up if I had not had a salad to start. The ice cream, however, was huge and I could not eat it all. Nice to step down memory lane and the staff were very nice, if you informally dressed for my liking. The owner also gave my sister her best perm hair cut years ago, and he asked me if I was out with my mother so got my vote of confidence, my sister was not impressed at his mistake 😂. A really enjoyable night, just expensive.

Nice pizzas. Unfortunately it went under. The food was good although the lighting was a bit on the clinical side. On the plus side it’s reopened as an Italian and the pizza oven is still there.

We live nowhere near this excellent Moroccan restaurant but visit when we can for the best North African hospitality around (tapas etc also available). Despite an absence of several years, Hassan remembered us and welcomed us warmly as always. The tagines are spot-on and they also have a good selection of Moroccan wines. Looking forward to next time...

This was our second visit. The food is pretty good but the Staff weren’t happy this time that we ordered so many different tapas dishes. There were 5 of us in total and wanted to try different dishes and thought that was the point with tapas?! On this basis we won’t be returning.

Absolutely hands down the best Tagine you’ll have in Leeds and possibly the North! Run by a lovely family and they make sure it’s as authentic as it can get. It’s got a great selection of Mediterranean items too if Tagine isn’t your thing but you must try it if you haven’t had one before as it’s an amazing trip to Morocco via the food!

Our family organised a joint 70th birthday celebration for me and my husband at this lovely restaurant. There were 12 of us spanning 3 generations. The service was great, all our food was served at the same time and not one of us could find fault with any of the dishes. The staff were friendly and attentive. All in all we couldn't have asked for better and if we didn't live so far away in Sussex it would certainly become a firm favourite of ours. I know that both of my sons and their families will definitely return.

That is a so nice a cosy place. You feel so welcome in an environments that looks like a small restourant in Greece. The staff is so polite and nice and the manager is such a kind person. The food is really good, properly cooked. Fried calamari, patata bravas as well. Good portion for price. Some main course are just bit overpriced but the taste is fantastic. The chef knows what he is doing. Really raccomended.

We chose Morenos at random while staying nearby. Unpretentious but friendly, it provided just the right atmosphere for a quiet meal after a long and difficult drive - and the food was mouth-watering. I had Moroccan spiced chicken wings followed by lamb morenos: chunks of lamb cooked in spices with new potatoes. Both delicious. My wife had prawns followed by seafood paella, which were equally good. The house wine was, well, house wine, but pleasant. Thoroughly recommended and we hope to be back next time we are in the area ,

Car parking is easy. You get a warm welcome from Hassan the owner and his staff, nothing is too much trouble. The menu is full of tasty sounding dishes, it's difficult to decide what to have. When the food arrives it is beautifully presented and tastes amazing. Cannot praise this place enough. It's a shame that I can't give it 6 stars, or more!

Arrived at 5.30 ordered a starter to share and a main course each. 30 minutes later the starter Arrived with one main course. Sent the main back so we could eat the starter garlic bread pizza. Couldn't eat it it was hard and struggled to cut it never mind chew it. Sent it back a other one came and it was just the same. After almost half an hour later we hadn't received the main. It was now 6.45 we were very Disappointed so told them we were leaving and offered to pay for our drinks (the diet coke we had ordered was real coke so we had Sent that back) Considering our experience we were amazed the took the money for our drinks. There was only one person front of house trying to do everything. Considering it was full and everyone had booked there should have been more staff As we were leaving we were informed our main courses had been given to another table We wouldn't return

First time here last night and will definitely be going back. We were treated like friends, service was fab, food was amazing, steak Diane was one of the best I’ve had. Ended up drinking with people we didn’t even know and had one of the best nights out in a long time. Will be trying their pizza next as their pizza chef is one of the best, apparently. Excellent food and not expensive either. Very friendly and welcoming. Loved it. Thanks for the blankets, kept us nice and cosy sitting outside.

Outstanding service from the owner and staff, and really beautiful food. Our party of six had various dishes between us, a children's portion of spaghetti, multiple tapas dishes and pizzas. All delicious, freshly cooked and presented well. The outdoor terrace has ample seating (as well as seating indoors) and the restaurant is ideally located for a meal after a day at Temple Newsham, as well as being really family friendly. Highly recommended and we will definitely return.

We visit this restaurant frequently and having tried a few different items off the menu we have always had an outstanding meal. The food is absolutely incredible and the couple of own the restaurant lovely and incredibly helpful. We will continue to visit here and a few meals for your to try, meatballs tagine, lasagne, lamb, tapas all of which can be highly recommended

Decidimos aprovechar el plan y probar un nuevo lugar que a menudo hemos pasado y nos hemos imaginado, especialmente emocionados, ya que es la primera vez que cenamos fuera en casi seis meses. Tengo los champiñones al ajillo y lasaña, ambos acertaron. Otros en el grupo tenían comidas igualmente hermosas y deliciosas. Todo el personal conversó y nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos. Este restaurante ciertamente tiene un ambiente cálido y acogedor. Definitivamente un lugar en mi lista de regreso. En términos de seguridad, está claro que están haciendo un esfuerzo adicional para que los clientes se sientan seguros. Controles de temperatura en la puerta, mesas bien dispuestas para distanciamiento social y desinfectante disponible gratuitamente. Todo el personal usaba protectores faciales y todos se sienten muy seguros, así que estoy feliz de darle a este lugar 5 estrellas. (Incluso daría más si estuvieran disponibles también)

Fantastic food and great service

Rara vez escribo reseñas, pero ahora más que nunca creo que es importante apoyar a las empresas locales. He estado aquí algunas veces con mi esposa, pero esta noche cené sola porque ella está fuera y solo hay un límite para cocinar para uno que quiero hacer. La comida fue tan buena como siempre y el dueño (lamento no saber su nombre) fue amable, servicial y una delicia. Realmente hizo mi noche. Muchas gracias y el tagine de cordero y verduras fue genial.

Tesco alike "ready meal" calamari. Mash potato from the box. People serving food wearing shorts, t shirts and flip flops. Not the main reasons why you go to the restaurants... However on a positive note - very friendly service. Poultry was also quite nice.

Tuve una fiesta de cumpleaños número 40 en Moreno's este fin de semana para unas 20 personas. La comida era increíble y Hassan y su familia fueron maravillosos y nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos. Se ocuparon de todos, incluidos los pedidos sin gluten y especiales no fueron un problema. La comida estaba increible. ¡Definitivamente regresaré de nuevo cuando esté en Leeds!

Visité Morenos por primera vez. . . . . Qué encantador restaurante. Las cuatro comidas fueron excelentes. La mejor comida que hemos probado. Todo el personal es amable y nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos. Excelente relación calidad-precio. Estábamos visitando Leeds para ver a nuestro nieto y su compañero. ¡Ojalá pudiéramos llevar a Marinos de regreso a Bolton con nosotros! ! ! Definitivamente visitaré la próxima vez que estemos en Leeds. Recomiendo totalmente este increíble restaurante.
