Shame as this place has so much potential, was meant to stay for 2 nights but left after one. Mold everywhere and stains on the carpet.

I booked at the last minute and I was very pleased with all aspects of my stay. Staff very helpful and welcoming, and the food enjoyable. Good value for money and great location on Dartmoor for views and walks. See you again soon.

We've been coming to the Moorland for nearly 15 years and will continue to do so. Everything is excellent, the food, location, rooms, views and staff. We really enjoyed our latest stay and feel very refreshed and charged ready for another week at work!

I have never ever given the three W rating before on a review. This stands for: Walking in. Walk round. Walk out. My wife and I were given room 12 the room had a good view of the moors but that was it. The furniture was dated, the bed sloped towards the wall, and the shower had black mould on the shower tray. The whole hotel was shabby not only on the outside but also on the inside, the carpets are one step away from being thread bare, it does really needs revamping all over. If you read the reviews on this hotel they seem to recommend it and say what value for money it is, I honestly believe that this is not true the people who wrote the reviews must have stayed in some rubbish hotels prior to staying here. I would not recommend this hotel.

We had a fantastic time and was even upgraded for free last minute. The gentleman we spoke to behind the reception was exceptional. We are very happy with our stay. Breakfast was included and cooked very well.

This is an old hotel, and it's in need of renovation. It's a fantastic location and while I only ate breakfast in the restaurant, the food and service were good. And I overheard comments that other meals are good there, too. Some of the renovation is no doubt expensive and may take time. But small details also matter -- like a not-very-clean TV remote and the not-at-all-clean blinds in the bathroom. I heard that there's new management over the last year or so, so hopefully they will be able to make great progress. It definitely could be a really great place to stay ...

Stopped here for Sunday lunch with mum since it had recently reopened. On 1st impressions the decor looked a little tired, but we were given a warm welcome by very friendly staff. We were shown to our table with a wonderful view over fields and the city of Plymouth out to sea. One look at the menu and we instantly decided that 3 courses for £27 was far better value than anywhere else this side of the Moor! I had mo-mo to start which were delicious and something unexpected on a Sunday lunch menu. Mum had scampi which the enjoyed. We both had roast lamb for our main, and I have to admit it was one of the best roast dinners I have ever eaten! Simply beautiful! Ample amount without being too much. I had a cheeseboard for dessert and mum had tarte au pommes. Again both extremely good. We have both decided that we want to go back for an evening meal when the menu appears to be a fusion of English and Indian/Nepalese. Can't recommend highly enough!

When my daughter visits, we often go there for a meal. Food is very good and the service too. Nice atmosphere, and tables not too close together. Only slight problem is that I wish the chairs were a bit higher. But that doesn't put me off going there. Plus it's a very short walk from my house. Highly recommended.

Set in the lovely Dartmoor area overlooking the most scenic view. We woke up to the view of sheep and horses grazing around the area. We were comfortable during our stay of 2 nights. The trio of Mr Guru, Mr Sunil and chef Mr Madan are very hospitable. We had dinner in their restaurant which is another star. Authentic taste of curry and other dishes pampers one's palate. The kids enjoyed their treat - chocolate milkshake. We are definitely going to return back in summer with our guests. Highly recommended!

I work locally just a few doors down the road in a local opticians and frequent this lovely little cafe fairly often for lunch. I usually get a sandwich from their deli counter and they keep me coming back. I have tried a number of different options and none of them have disappointed. In the winter I especially like their soup of the day which is very well priced. I love the Mediterranean counter and often purchase a pot of Dolmades. If you're in the area I would recommend going here for lunch, you will be glad you did

We have just visited Brown's Hotel in Dartmouth. The hotel has a wonderful ambience. Its individuality and relaxing comfort clearly show an eye to detail (and a great ear for music). We received a warm welcome and the staff were consistently friendly, kind and helpful. The Hotel is ideally situated, close to everything you will want to do. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, again with an eye to detail and individuality, providing for all your creature comforts - and always making that extra effort to anticipate guest needs. The beds are very large and very comfortable. Everything is spotlessly clean. It was a real pleasure to visit a hotel reflecting the owners' tastes, rather than the ersatz similarity offered by most hotels. We look forward to visiting Brown's again, possibly linking our visit to one of the seasonal/musical events put on by the hotel or by the Town itself. Just as an extra note. We went over the ferry to visit Coleton Fishacre Gardens. We used the 'Lower Ferry'. That was a wonderful experience just in itself! The skill of the skipper, guiding the ferry from one shore to the other was quite remarkable. (Much more interesting than the larger cable ferry at the other end of the town!!) We recommend Brown's Hotel, Dartmouth very strongly.

New to the area and went to see what the pub was like and a game of pool with the son. It's nice to see old pubs like this still but was empty , under 12s can't use pool table and parking is a little tight.

Amazing Sunday roast - we tried the sirloin and the chicken. Delicious sides, meat, gravy, everything! Super cozy pub, tucked away - worth mentioning there’s no parking! :)

What a great find, the tapas was fantastic! We ordered 3 vegetarian dishes each and that was plenty to share between us. We have a very good tapas restaurant where we live, so it was interesting to compare. There was a good mix of dishes we recognised and ones that were completely new to us. And who knew that cabbage could be so amazing as a tapas dish (Burnt Hisbi Cabbage)? It was a fabulous flavoursome meal from first bite to last!
