Nice place feels like vintage & with friends you can have chilled beers while seated outside surroundings with natural beauty. Must place to try with family ,friends and try their Sunday roast ,I haven't tried but heard about them alots regarding Sunday roast.

A nice family meal with plenty of choice for everyone and particularly enjoyable brownie ice cream sundaes to finish. Price wise around £100 with guiness and cocktails also within. Very nice for an easy Sunday dinner

I went last year and really enjoyed it. It was very upsetting when today we arrived and was told that breakfast was finished and lunch was not starting till 12 and we walked away from us... They literally showed us the door instead of just saying " if you would like to wait you could grab a drink". I worked 20 years in hospitality and this was shocking for me. We left immediately and don't think I will be back.

Moor Mill is set in beautiful grounds. The amazing atmosphere? the pup built in an old water mill. The food and service were great. Good value and menu choice. Good choice of beers and wine.

We had not been to moor mill for well over a year, so decided to give it a try. Sorry to say probably won't go back for a long time again. Got seated quickly and the lady waiting on us was lovely to be fair. We waited ages for the food, I had the mixed grill and asked for my steak medium, it was raw. Couldn't find a member if staff to ask to change it. Was on the verge of going in to the kitchen to find someone when our waitress appeared. She did apologise and got the steak cooked more. However as I said not sure if they were short on some staff but lots younger staff going in to the kitchen and sounded like a party in there. One lady waitress was drinking wine at the till. Just over all very disappointing visit. Don't expect to see staff drinking alcohol. Did want a pudding but waited so long decided against it.

We visited for lunch on Sunday. It was empty but we still waited 55 mins. for our 1st course, then a further 40 mins for main courses which were extremely overcooked and burnt burgers which were inedible and returned. We paid for our starters and drinks. We will never return.

I have never had such a bad experience in any restaurant before Out if 6 tables that had people all had complaints about there food. Two tables walked out not paying for their food after it took an hour to get the food to them. Saying the food was cold and burnt One table the orders were incorrect One table walked out after over an hour waiting and still not received their food. On table was still waiting to order after being there for 40 minutes,when we left . I was extremely disappointed having paid 16 pound for a Sunday roast and got three small pieces of meat in my plate. A burger would have more meat than what I got. The food was cold, dry and not tasty at all.asked for extra gravy which took about 20 minutes to get to the table . After finishing our meal and wanting to pay we waited 35 minutes just to get the bill. The manager was not addressing the situation and left the poor waiter to deal with all the unhappy customers. The kitchen staff were absolutely useless . And sitting in the kitchen all having a good conversation between themselves, saw this as the door to the kitchen was open. On leaving I made a point of finding the manager.. after relating our experience to him and my extreme disappointment in the whole experience.. his answer was ... I quite verbatim. "It's one of those days and there's nothing I can do about it" His attitude was one of he could not give a damn about the clients and sorting out the issues. I will never ever go to the restaurant again. For that matter I will never go to another beefeaters again, and I would not recommend anyone else go theet

Cost almost £30 for 2 soft drinks and 2 alcoholic drinks plus 2 portions of triple cooked chips. We only went as we were on a bike ride and it states they have a children's playground. Got there to find playground has been closed permanently. Daylight robbery and false advertising at its finest. Don't go unless you like disappointment!!

Booked a late Mother’s Day meal and turned up to find there was no gas to cook the food. We weren’t given a phone call in advance prior to arriving and when asked if we were going to be served food at all that evening, we were told by a male employee “go to McDonald’s” in a rude manner. I would highly advise NOT to go to this restaurant as the service was awful and we left immediately to go to a different restaurant.

We hadn't been to The Moor Mill in a while and it looks like it's had a bit of a refurb, and is fresher inside, although the Xmas decorations budget could be increased? We were shown to our table instantly, right in front of their amazing 'faux' fire, that had us fooled at first, a great table to sit at. Service was polite and very up beat, but only after we'd left did we realise we'd been given the wrong receipt and I'm not sure if we've overpaid or not? It wasn't the receipt that matched the order I checked before paying! 😫 So I can't give 5 Stars for the review...Apart than that issue, Roslyn, (the name on our receipt), is a credit to Beefeater, she seems to have everything and everyone under control and runs a pretty smooth ship, plus, she's a very nice lady as well 👍🏼 Food was great, I had the Baconeater and I was expecting lots of fat to drip out the bun, amazingly there was none and the taste was spot on. We used a Black Friday voucher and this made the price much lower, (I think?). That said, we wouldn't have an issue returning without a voucher as the whole experience was great, providing they got our receipt correct next time! 😫

I booked the restaurant for Mothers Day as this is a special occasion. Arrived at 19.45 on 30th March 2025. We were seated at our table. It took 20 mins for waiter to come and take our drinks and food order. After this we waited for almost 25 mins to receive our drinks even though we told them a few times we have been waiting. After drinks arrived we waited for almost 2 hours and still no food at the table. During these 2 hours we told the waiters/waitress several times that we have been waiting ages but they were not helpful in sorting the problem out. After 2 hours we left in disgust. This was meant to be a Mothers Day Celebration and you as a company have ruined this completely. This is just unacceptable for a restaurant to provide this type of service. I await your response iwith regards to the awful service we received.

The worst dining experience I’ve ever had. No one was available to seat new diners. If you weren’t a guest at the Premier Inn you were turned away. Inside the restaurant wasn’t that busy. Once seated no one took my order or checked in for 15 minutes where the drinks and food or were taken together. My drink didn’t arrive for 30 minutes by this time my main course was finished. When the main arrived my order was wrong however the staff left the table so quickly I couldn’t inform them of the error to put it right. For some reason they tried to give me another main course whilst I was half way through my meal and the waitress seemed confused and frustrated with me. The staff seemed to be hiding in the kitchen. There were people wanting to pay and leave that were getting frustrated at being held hostage If it wasn’t for having paid for the meal deal when checking into the hotel I would have walked out. Not looking forward to breakfast in the morning! I’ll stay in St Albans City Centre next time. Avoid the Moor Mill at all costs!

We didn't even risk trying it. The potatoes were horrible, they looked like leftovers from other customers reheated 100 times. Not just potatoes. The lady who served us was very nice. That was the only positive thing.

Awful service! Waited an hour just for our starters! Then another 40 minutes before our mains. When they came over with our mains they hadn’t even cleared our table for starters! After eating our mains they didn’t again clear the table! We waited 45 minutes and then gave up! So we then called over to clear our table and just get the bill and leave. They didn’t offer us more drinks when we finished and we didn’t even get a chance to even think or order dessert as we weren’t asked. The restaurant was dead so there was no excuse. We would understand more if it was busy. The waitress found it funny and was smirking when we asked for the bill and complained about how long we had been waiting. She didn’t even apologise for the wait. In the end when leaving we had to go and complain and only then did they apologise. We will not be coming back there again! Very disappointed. The last time we were there the staff walked out halfway through. We have had two bad experiences now!

Went Sun 2nd March 2025. 4 adults, 2 kids. Had prebooked a table. Weren't given menus when taken and sat at our table. Had overheard another table saying they had waited over 3 hours for their food, so asked our server what the expected wait on our food would be. Was advised 20 mins roughly. Kids food came out fairly promptly, but after waiting 1hr and a half for adults food we paid and left, as had enough by then. Staff didn't seem too interested and a manager was shouting over to a member of staff to go home and leave all tidying up as she's half an hour over her shift. Not very professional.

4 of us went here on Saturday night ordered 4 starters one of the starters they got wrong but brought me correct order when I told them, while waiting for the mains, probably 45 minutes they came and told us they had no ribs left, why did it take them 45 minutes. So asked us to pick a different main so ordered steak,waited another 40 minutes and the food turned up and surprisingly it was the ribs they said they didn’t have, anyway ate the meal which wasn’t great to be honest the steak I had was pretty dried out ribs and were burnt.anyway got the bill that was wrong as well got charged for 2 steaks the one I had and the one we had ordered that didn’t turn up because they found ribs. .lovely pub and surroundings and staff were very apologetic and gave us free drinks because of how long we had waited and even offered us free deserts but to be honest didn’t want to spend all Saturday night getting some thing too eat

We had planned to stop here for all you can eat breakfast in the middle of our morning walk. The food is as you would expect from a beefeater - enjoyable but nothing amazing. Would recommend fried eggs instead of scrambled (which were a bit dry). Sausages were GF, which is great for my husband. Would recommend you order extra beans as the portion was small. Toast/croissants/crumpets were self-serve, and there was only one 4 slice toaster, so I often had to wait. Coffee is out of a machine, so it's not great but not as bad as instant. Limited tea varieties and no hot chocolate. The waitress Pat was excellent but I felt sorry for her as she was the only person working that morning (usually 2 people) she was literally running between tables and still trying to keep a smile on her face despite how stressed she must have been - she needs a bonus or double pay that day! Would happily return another day though.

I booked a table at this restaurant mainly because it had a disabled symbol on its Google map entry.  I reserved a table online and requested a table with step-free access.  The table was confirmed for 12:00. My family and I so wanted to enjoy our time at the restaurant but, from the moment we arrived, we knew it was off to a poor start as the servers looked harassed and the tables were not ready. It also became clear that the main seating area was upstairs but there were a few tables downstairs, so they sat us there. Service was slow and it's just as well we weren't in a hurry. After an hour of waiting, the roast dinners were served, and they were okay, but we were not even asked if we would like any condiments when the food finally arrived. The food cooled quickly because the inside of the restaurant was extremely cold; in fact, it was warmer outside when we left on a five-degree cold winters day.  A very disappointing experience from a well-known chain of eateries.

Visited Sat 25th Jan. The waitress is doing a brilliant job at trying to keep customers happy, the same lady as previous visits. All staff are as helpful as can be. BUT..a lot of the food in the Mixed Grill was cremated or very dry, cheap wheat-filled sausages, undercooked tomato, over-cooked eggs (no nice runny yolk!), gammon like salty hard cardboard, dark brown and over-crunchy onion rings The 75 bacon burger - it was ok in the middle, very tasty BUT dry and cremated around the meat edges. Nice to have home-style coleslaw but no flavour in it. Glad they serve ketchup in a bowl with spoon instead of silly plastic satches. Nice pot of tea. Surroundings are much shabbier than they used to be. This isn't meant to be personal but the supervisor/manager could look a bit less like he's just walked out of his own kitchen. NOT like @Beefeater as we knew them years ago, a disappointment. Sorry Moor Mill.

We visited here for dinner between Christmas and new year. We had a table of 8 upstairs in the amazing setting of the old mill. The place is unique and felt like being on an old ship. The service was very good throughout, unfortunately due to supply issues the menu was reduced, which we were informed of on arrival. The food was really good and well presented. We will definitely be going back.

I just visited the pub and was disappointed with their breakfast service. On weekends, they don’t allow walk-ins for breakfast due to “unplanned capacity.” Instead, priority is given to Premier Inn guests, leaving others out of luck. This feels unfair—if capacity is an issue, why not implement a better plan? It’s frustrating to show up only to be turned away. A little organization or clarity on their website about this policy would go a long way.

Had to search for staff in the morning to have our breakfast which we booked with Premier inn the previous night. After wandering we found staff member Prodi who proceeded to waste our morning by insisting our names needed to be on the sale sheet he had to take our booking. Had to nip back out to premier inn to get assurances our booking was there only for Prodi to glumly sit us down when he could have just asked if we had a prepaid booking. Prodi then ignored us and other seated customers for the rest of the morning. After 30 minutes in a very empty seating area, we had to knock on the kitchen doors for help. Prodi made sure he served himself breakfast but the rest of the customers had to reassure eachother. At least the chef helped us all and was nice enough to ask for our orders. Food was okay but for £10.99 each for a handful of things on a single plate was a waste of money. Prodi made no attempt to clear the table, didn't ask for more orders (because it's an "unlimited breakfast") or apologize for the lazy service. He only took customers money and wandered the building to leave customers to fend for themselves. Miserable. Just a disappointing end to a holiday. Embarrassing member of staff.

We stayed in the Premier Inn adjacent for two nights' attending a family funeral. Both evenings, we eat in the Moor Mill Beefeater restaurant. The choice of menu was very good, catering for all dietary needs. One evening we were served by Jennifer who was excellent & very kind & friendly; nothing was too much trouble. We also had breakfast in the restaurant on two mornings. The choice of menu was good and the service was fast & efficient. I feel if you are going to eat at Moor Mill over Christmas, the restaurant and bar areas could possibly look a little more festive.

I booked a table for 6 but when we arrived was told that they had a very limited menu. No streaks etc. The place was dark and dismal and as the menu was not to our liking we left. Surely the person taking the booking the previous day (31st October) should have told me of the problems that the restaurant was having (no chefs that week). They also had my phone number so that they could have called me in the morning.

I recently dined at Beefeater and had an outstanding experience! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcome with their warm smiles and friendly greetings. Our server was incredibly attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The food was delicious and arrived quickly, with great portion sizes and presentation. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff’s positive energy truly made the evening special. If you’re looking for a place with amazing food and fantastic service, Beefeater is the spot! I complained to the manager who wasn't really bothered .I have been to the Moor Mill many times but will not be returning .There were other guests complaining & 1 couple actually got up & left after not receiving any initial service. Very disappointing.

Awful food & service tonight 12th Sep 24. Wrong starters brought to the table, not once but twice. One main meal never actually arrived. Food that was served was overcooked. I booked a table for 7 people some from Australia & the evening was ruined. I will never be back!! If you're short staffed that badly rather close for the night instead of alienating good customers!!

We received the wrong starters twice and then only received 2. We waited 90 minutes for our main meals. One of which never arrived. The first drinks arrived OK, but we had to go downstairs for our second round. The staff tried hard, but there were clearly not enough of them, or enough chefs. Would be better if they just told people they are closed until better staffed. Extremely disappointing!

Don't have the rib-eye steaks. I usually love this cut as it's so full of flavour, moist and tender. The two we had were dreadful with a layer of inedible sinew throughout. The rest of the meal was fine - oh, except for the stale, probably left over from lunch, peas.

This used to be such a nice pub when I was growing up in St Albans in the 90s. Popped in for lunch whilst back in the area and found an overgrown, undermaintained outside area, surly staff and - to be frank - awful food. A real shame to see such a significant decline.

I recently dined at Beefeaterand was quite disappointed with the experience. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait for over [specific duration] before being seated. Once seated, the wait for our food was excessively long. The delay significantly impacted our overall experience, making it far less enjoyable. When the food finally arrived, the portion sizes were surprisingly small given the prices on the menu. This was particularly disappointing as we expected more substantial servings based on previous visits and Beefeater's reputation. The staff were polite, and the atmosphere was pleasant, but the long wait times and small portions overshadowed these positives. I hope Beefeater addresses these issues to improve the dining experience for future customers.

Got to restaurant 7,50 pm got seated and served by the only lady who I think was working, as the other servers just couldn't seem to understand the simplest of task from even bringing condiments and them asking of desserts were wanted and then walking away but never returning with a menu or to take the order . But KAY saved the day and did pretty much everything . ,KAY deserves a big medal and staff to work with, a pay rise for this extremely hard working and very professional lady is running the restaurant pretty much on her own and souly deserves all credit. thank you KAY for making our visit a great time

I can't slate the manager. None of her staff turned up, but the place has become a complete dive massively in need of a freshen up garden overgrown and toilets out of order 20 years ago it was great these days I'd advice going up the road to the gate pub.

Don't bother, it's not a patch on what it used to be. Short staffed (I am led to believe this is always the case), grounds and stream not kept tidy, terrible selection of drinks with staff not knowing the difference between tonic and lemon, and ten minutes to pour four drinks. Food has not been available outside for a long time and friends tell me the food is average at best in any case. It should never have become like this as I remember it being excellent 10-15 years ago. Beefeater you should be ashamed of the terrible standards you've let it fall to! Sell it to someone who will love it back to the beautiful and well run venue I know it can be.

Extremely overpriced for what it is! Burger was small for price and the chips prob was small, which if brought as a side in ours own would be nearly £5 is ridiculous. Cannot fault the restaurant manager, her service was brilliant despite a challenging evening she really was the positive from this experience - clearly extremely understaffed.
