Up here at a conference but fancied something with bit more charm than the hotel or nearby restaurants could offer. After eight or so minutes' walk from the Marriott, I found this really lovely, proper eat-in fish and chip shop. Impressive haddock - tasted very lightly smoked to me, which was a new experience. Absolutely super place.

Came here hungry from the Sheffield United stadium. I used Google's advice. Very nice place. The only place where there is a waitress, a very nice girl, by the way. For 7.50 pounds I got a huge portion of haddock and fried potatoes with curry sauce, as well as milk tea and bread and butter and lots of ketchup :)). I highly recommend visiting this cafe to all tourists and guests of Sheffield!

Had a beautful chippy lunch here. Battered haddock, amazing. My son had their fish cake, unlike any other, he loved it. Staff super friendly. Excellent value for money. Will certainly visit (all the way from lincoln) again. I highly recommend this place.

Good fish and chips. Nice staff. There arent many options for a side to fish and chips. But it is a great place for fish and chips.

Went here as a couple and ordered fish, chips and peas and sausage, chips and gravy with a spare fishcake to try. The lady serving was very well mannered and efficient, the gent cooking was lovely to speak to and so welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious, fish was white and the portions were huge! Really need to try this place if you haven’t been 💛

This as got to be the only chippy shop that sells battered Stickleback and chips. I've never seen such small fish at a chip shop seen bigger fish fingers. Take a 5 min walk and go to Brenda's

Can't keep away from here now I've sampled these fish and chips. For the money and including bread and butter and a cup of tea these are a real bargain. The fish and chips are top quality no wonder it gets busy.

Chips were okay, battered sausage could of been crispier. But staff were very friendly and helpful.

I recall eating here not too long ago and it was terrible. Yellow grease dripping straight through the paper, batter was also very weak and fell apart easily.

I ate probably one of the best pies, chips and gravy of my life here, and with a can of pop I paid less than six pounds. It makes sense that it's so popular, especially during Sheffield United home matches, as a vast majority of fans go there as it's within walking distance from Bramall Lane. Easily one of the best in Sheffield, a bit of a shame it's not open every day.

Fui a almorzar con colegas del trabajo y nos encantó. Esto es lo que yo llamaría una tienda de chips tradicional que ha pasado la prueba del tiempo y no cambia (esto es algo bueno). Hay muchos asientos cálidos de lujo para esos días fríos cuando quieres comer en el interior. Todos tuvimos el OAP especial y realmente no se puede criticar el precio de una comida completa que incluye bebidas para todos. Llegó a menos de 20 para los 4 de nosotros. Me sorprendió la variedad de platos de acompañamiento disponibles e incluso tenían una opción de salsa de curry inglesa o china (no estoy seguro si esto fue para celebrar el año nuevo chino o si fue solo una coincidencia). Volveremos a este chippy en muchas más ocasiones, estoy seguro.

I've ate here once and never will again. It was really that bad. It serves a target audience of pensioners and it isn't hard to see why.

Fui a almorzar aquí y me encantó. La comida era deliciosa y muy bien de precio, elegí comer ya que hay muchos asientos. El ambiente es tan encantador. Se siente como un verdadero lugar de la vieja escuela donde conocen a sus clientes. No he escuchado tantas personas riendo e interactuando con el personal de esa manera, en muchos otros lugares. Realmente vale la pena una visita, ¡especialmente si te has cansado de comprar en el Moor!

Good chips and fish friendly staff

This is also one of my favourite place too for a cheap lunch. As a Sheffielder, sometimes I am a bit surprised at what I find... The first time I stepped into this place and ordered their "OAP special", (I know, I am not an OAP, but their waitress was incredibly kind to offer this to me anyway), I was transported back to those old memories of how a fish and chip place used to smell, and how the food used to taste. Out of so many places of F&C over the years in the UK, and that includes places like Whitby too, this nice little place in Sheffield, does it well, and the batter is never harsh, but it is crisp and a bit crumbly. I love how they serve some bread with it. The tea... Strong cuppa. For any tourists or anyone not from Sheffield, but fancy an old style of eating, come to this place. The place is usually full of pensioners... and the portion size is big for 4.50... and the owner is extremely extremely compassion to still be going and serving the OAPs. The chips are always soft, and not too harsh as well. Very nicely cooked. Definitely worth supporting. Places like this makes me proud to be a Sheffielder. Xxx

A great place to have fish & chips in Sheffield. I take the meal for £4.30 which includes tea/coffee bread butter and fish & chips which is a good value for money.

This is a traditional fish and chip shop (plus pies, gravy, curry sauce) that are disappearing alarmingly. Go for a set meal of fish, chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and a pot of tea for £5.60 ! Or have a pie instead of the fish, with gravy obviously ! Or just pie and peas. There is also a traditional chip shop counter. Friendly staff and all in all a no pretensions cheap meal.

Pedí unas patatas fritas grandes y salchichas grandes maltratadas. Los precios eran normales, pero la comida era terrible. Lo saqué y cuando volví a casa para ponerlo en un plato, la grasa empapó la envoltura y dejó un pequeño charco amarillo en el plato. No sabían muy bien, muy empapado y aburrido. La salchicha maltratada se vino abajo antes de cortarla, ya que tenía una capa muy débil. Lo arrojé antes de llegar a la mitad de la comida.

Visited a few times now. Does exactly what it needs to - good food served quickly and with a smile. Inside seating area is like something out of the 70's but who cares when you've gone to get fish & chips as opposed to an evening meal out ? Extremely friendly service which was great. Mushy peas need more flavour and less water. I'll be back.

I've been coming here for years. You always get a warm, friendly, Sheffield welcome. Great food and great value. OAP Specials are a real bargain. Henderson's on the table of course.

Cheap, clean, friendly with decent food & all at reasonable prices. A family of 5 all ate for just over £20. Not bad at all.

Excellent 'CHIPPY' ......Sit down or take away, top quality and great value for money. We don't just visit on 'football match days' either... This 'CHIP SHOP' has been here as long as I can remember, therefore has stood the test of time. Spot on Girls....Keep up the good work. Andy 'BLADE' & Family.

There's another couple of good chippies nearby so this place has to be good. Mini fish, chips and peas and a drink, all under £4 and very nice too.

Had the haddock and chips and considering how far from the coast it is , very nice it was fresh but beware the peas!

Having found an alternative local chippy which did a decent f&c I found myself being welcomed with big smiles by week three. The service is quick and friendly and I rarely find myself waiting for items to finish cooking. The Missus is very particular about her fish and she's never complained. I rest my case.

Walking through the doors of the Moor Fisheries is like travelling through a time warp to a land of Formica tables, friendly old school Sheffield service,delicious fish and chips and local characters! If you are tiring of £40 per head gastropub offerings get yerself in here for a £4.10 OAP special it will be every bit as delicious!!

I have just had a lunchtime fix of the cod set meal here today. Fantastic. Freshly cooked, service with a smile, clean, very tasty and all for £5.70. Brilliant.

This restaurant/cafe is what sheffield is all about; good quality food, good quality people, good service and above all a friendly atmosphere. I've visited this chip shop/restaurant many many times and every time i am always greeted with the same smiling faces and the greasy fix you need after a long day. The owner and all of the staff always greet you with a friendly hello as you walk in the restaurant and sit down. the service is very quick and they ensure the portion sizes are satisfying. This shop is constantly full of its locals and regulars and i would say they are the best fish and chips that i have tasted in a very long time. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting good quality fish and chips as the prices are also very cheap.

Sit down buy the Fish meal deal, which is fish, chips, peas, slice of bread and a cup of tea for £5.70. Just what you need after or before wandering round town. Service is fast but not rushed, the food is cooked well, lots of repeat customers, as the staff welcome people that are regulars, gets busy on a match day, Sheffield United at home. There is a choice of menu if you don't like fish, you can also have a take away, only opens at lunch times, 11 to 4. The tables are for four people so if there is more than 4 of you, you may not get sat next to each other.
