Montys' ballymoney in Ballymoney

Took advantage of the govt eat out to help out scheme - lunch for two was only £5.67. Just as plentiful, just as tasty (really good food as normal) and would have been more than well worth full price

Hadn’t been to Monty’s since the relocation to Church Street. Absolutely great food and great value for money. I had french toast and bacon and it was very tasty and light- my wife had a veggie fry which again was light and not greasy - best of luck in the new place - well worth the visit

Great place to eat and all the staff and the owner are truly amazing.... visit every week and definitely best in town...

Arrived at near closing time (which I didn't realize). We were still served with a delicious Roast Dinner and chicken dish for my daughter. Food was amazing. Roast Beef was melt in the mouth. All staff were very friendly and helpful. My 1st time in this restaurant as I'm never usually in Ballymoney but would recommend Montys to anyone.

Had never been in the old Montys on the high street. But decided to give the new location on church street a try, and so glad I did. A really lovely fry which came with good strong tea and a smile from friendly and efficient staff. I think this could be......NO.....this IS the best cafe in town! Keep up the good work. (Sorry, no picture of the fry, it was too nice to wait!)

First visit to Monty’s today Fri 6 Sept. Wow, what a fry. Really good. Beautifully cooked and presented. Friendly staff. Really clean. We will definitely return here. All the food they were serving looked really good.

Very nice breakfast on my way to the open. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Also the price was great value

We visited here on Saturday night 27/7/2019 and unfortunately ours was not a good experience. They had run out of fish, chips + garlic fries the only option was French fries. I ordered crispy chilli chicken, it was neither crispy or spicy in fact it was tasteless and very soggy. My partner ordered a mini fry and he said it was very greasy. You go up to the till to get a menu, back up to order and pay(before you get your food) and they bring your good to your table. We ordered our food a cold drink and tea this was handed over straight away but food then took about 20 minutes which meant tea was cold. We had to ask for more hot water. I definitely wouldn't recommend this restaurant nor will I be visiting again. The amenities are also bad for the size, there is one toilet for customers that is for both men and women.

Had the ‘Full Monty’ fried breakfast which includes tea or coffee in the price (before 11am). Delicious food served piping hot.

A busy place which is bigger than it seems from the outside. It was served very quickly after ordering. I went for the small fry which was a bit disappointing as the egg was cooked too hard for me, and the bacon which was in short supply and not cooked crispy enough! Maybe I'm too picky. That said, I noticed the food being served around me looked both very appetising and in good, large portions. So, a mixed review but I'll give it another go at a quieter time of day and pick a different meal.

Popped in for a cheer myself up full barnyard breakfast and I was not disappointed. The breakfast was enormous and was served by very pleasant and attentive staff. There is only so much you can do with an Ulster fry but this was one of the best. It was not at all greasy and there was absolutely no fuss about the one substitution I requested. The most impressive thing for me was the lengths they went to with presentation. It was a very inviting plateful of food. I really can't fault Monty's.

A delightful, old-style cafe serving satisfying portions of well-prepared food to a loyal (mostly local) clientele - and the odd visitor like ourselves. The staff are very friendly and efficient. They have a comprehensive menu, including vegetarian options and kids, all at extremely competitive prices. A lovely place to visit while in Ballymoney and highly recommended.

Visited Monty’s with my family, food is to die for! Never had a better feed! Ever since we went to montys we visit every Saturday now! My wee boy just loves the place and treats it like home as he says! Staff are absolutely fantastic! So helpful and would bend over backwards for you! We are glad to have found somewhere, were we get to call our local! Keep up the good work montys!

Been here a few times with some friends, food is great, service is always to a really higher standard! Defo be back soon :) Massive credit to the owners and staff :)

Went to this cafe with my partner for a bite to eat and we where not disappointed! The food was amazing and great value for money! The value was excellent compared to other prices we had seen and the quality of the meals. You will not go hungry! The atmosphere and staff where all so friendly!!

I come to montys every week. Food is always amazing and are the staff. Best place in Ballymoney for a bite to eat! Highly recommend :)

I ordered the chicken stack, The chicken was definitely off, smell n taste bad, the mistake I made was that I ate the chips-and one piece of the smelly chicken, then told them before I left, the girl didn’t seem that interested n took it into the back, when she returned she said that the chef said that there was nothing wrong with it. ( I wondered did he taste it lol), then she z I couldn’t have a refund coz I ate most of it (just the chips, n one piece o chicken but I didn’t ask for a refund). She came back again and offered me a bun, I near laughed in her face, coz I thought ‘ is this an admission’ I z I didn’t want a bun but that I thought I should let them know, to which she replied ‘thanks’ .... then she z that it was maybe the hot weather, n I z ‘the chicken was probably sitting out in the hot weather and soured’ she replied maybe but the chef z it was ok.... needless to say that I was sick for 2+ days after it.... they should have been honest... if they had been honest then I wouldn’t have wrote this review... but with the dishonesty they were putting other customers at risk! I’ll never be back there, Iv told my friends and one of them had an issue with hair in the fry but was to shy to complain... tho to complain in there is useless, they don’t believe you and try to cover up... nasty

You’d love to have Queen Victoria enter here and say “I am not amused”. The atmosphere here isn’t intriguing or inviting. The food isn’t that hot on it and the staff don’t have much friendliness. The young server we had spent most her time flirting with another staff member instead of serving. The food was cold when it came to us and she just said “what do you want me to do about it” Very disappointed!

Nice and friendly atmosphere. I've been a few times and I've always had good service and food. Kids meals are a good size you could share between 2 kids.

The food and service here is second to none. Visited several times since my last review and regardless of what is ordered from the menu everything is incredibly tasty and abundant. The roast beef dinners are absolutely fantastic with tender roast beef vegetables and roast and creamed potatoes. Must be the best place I have had dinners ever. The Monty's burger is delicious and the breakfast bap is so tasty and filling. The staff are very efficient and always pleasant and the chef deserves an award for the very high quality food always served precisely as it should be.

Called in with the wife and kids, great food, lovely staff and fast service. Will not be a stranger to this wee gem.

This restaurant is just fabulous. Amazing variety of home cooked food. Everything I have tried I cannot fault. The place has a great atmosphere and the staff are extremely welcoming and cannot do enough to help. Also very cheap for the quality of food which they could charge a lot more for! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Second visit here and it's brilliant staff lovely and friendly food amazing keep up the good work!! Deffo recommend this place if your passing through Ballymoney

Really good value, very dated decor but coffee is good and had a couple of meals here that have been okay although excellent value and happy friendly staff. Would return again.

Restaurant was nice and clean. The menu had a lot to choose from. Food was lovely although the wait was quite long. Very good value for money.

Stopped in Montys today.....cowboy supper and steaming hot mugs of tea..what's not to Like?. Great value, tasty homemade chips, great service and a big comfy seat at the window to watch the world go by......well worth a visit..

Metimos en Ballymoney mientras caminando por la calle alta en festivo el lunes. Compramos un desayuno irlandés completo y Maple pankcakes para nosotros dos. Una factura de 8 libras. 45 era excepcional! Dos vasos grandes de agua del grifo. La comida estaba muy caliente y realmente nos encantó.

Great tasting food, excellent service and warm atmosphere as always. Never fails to impress that's why we keep coming back and will continue to do so. Very pleasant staff and can't ask for more.

Esta fue mi segunda visita, primera por recomendación. Mi pareja y yo tuvimos la mini Ulster Fry por 3.50 libras cada uno incluye tetera/cafetera, mi compañero pidió un cambio en el menú que se hizo sin ninguna molestia.

Been here three times in the past two weeks and we had something different each time. The Jumbo Tower Burger was fantastic as was the Small Fry and of course the Full Monty. Great quality food, excellent portions and very friendly service as always. Place is very clean and has a great atmosphere.

What can one say about Montys'?Good traditional food with friendly staff. A roast available all days that they are open. As the locals would say - you get a good feed!

Both had the Full Monty for the second time and very tasty and well prepared. Bacon, sausages, egg, potato bread, pancake, mushrooms, tomato, beans and black pudding. Gigantic plates of food and tea refills provided. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Couldn't be better.

Was here today about 3/4 p.m. I ordered chicken Maryland with champ. My husband ordered chicken burger and chips. This food came out and it was covered in grease. The chicken was like leather (possibly Lynass) Have had experience of their chicken before and it was terrible. It came from Thailand. Never again would we be in here again and the prices are not cheap.

Really great quality food and the service was fantastic. Will definitely be back.... Probably very soon!!

The food was freshly made and piping hot. We had the mushroom pasta and the fried cod with potatoes and leeks. With tea of course. Enjoyed our afternoon.

Lovely surroundings nice and comfortable , We went on a Saturday evening for a wee treat , why bother driving to the coast when you can pop in here and enjoy the cuisine . I had steak and my wife had the stir fry , gorgeous !!! Bring your own wine and you won't be disappointed . The kids had the chicken goujons of which they cleared . Great dessert as well Homemade Straw pavlova . Mmmmm . Give it a try you will return for sure .

Great value for money. The food was great. Good selection to choose from. In fact too many as they all looked good. My sister got one of the specials and she really enjoyed it. My brother-in-law got the fry and there was a lot on his plate. I chose the chicken peppered pasta which was delicious. Could not fault the food and the staff were very friendly and helpful plus the place was very clean.they were generous with the portions also. We only went in on chance as we were out walking around baloney.

Pasta, broccoli and mushrooms in a cream sauce? May sound nice, but not in this establishment. In face the cream sauce began to 'separate' on arrival at my table.1 visit to this excuse for an eating establishment was enough for me! Never again!

Monty's have been under new management for little over a year now, and I see a significant improvement.For years I've been in the odd time, and have now (in the past couple of months) started going quite regularly. A good menu with a good selection, a few nice buns and slices of cake on offer, generous portions and friendly staff.Highchairs available.Fairly wheelchair friendly - in the sense of no stairs bar just a small step into the restaurant. May be a bit tight in places but there's a few different seating options so there shouldn't be much hassle.One male and one female toilet; which is clean, light and spacious.

Staff not interested. After two bites I found a long black hair in lunch and it was whisked away (waitress lifted it off plate with a napkin with no apology, no refund (until I requested it). Apparently the sausage roll in question was baked next door and on departure I was told that they checked all the staff next door and none of them had hair that length. That's ok then......NOPE. Won't be back.
