Montebello Ristorante in East Lindsey

Excellent food and reasonably priced. The staff were very nice and the service very good. It is in a converted pub in the centre of Horncastle and has a nice atmosphere.

So this isn't our first montebellos but it is the first time we have sat in as previously shut because of covid. I would like to thank them firstly for finding us a table at such short notice. The ladies serving us were all polite and very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We had two very delicious meals which came out so quickly too. For the price paid for the meals I was astounded by how much food you get as well. We were absolutely stuffed that unfortunately couldn't even have a lovely dessert (we have had previously with take away and they are lovely !). We would like to thank all the staff at montebellos for a lovely evening and amazing food. Can't wait to come back for our next meal!

Planned to go here for my birthday but due to lockdown tried the takeaway option. Not disappointed. It was piping hot in separate containers and well presented. Not as good as a visit but as good as it gets in lockdown!

We ate here on a Sunday evening, and there were quite a few tables occupied. Food and wine were both very good, and there was a good atmosphere in the restaurant. Very good food and good wine - I would definitely recommend.

We have visited Montebello’s to enjoy a meal from a family gathering to a work function and have also had Takeaways. Today was my birthday and they provided us with the most wonderful birthday meal. From the telephone service, to the delivery driver and the exceptional food we received. Hubby had the Belly Pork and I had the Special Fish and both were outstanding! Our three children 6.5 and under enjoyed their pasta and pizza meals. We have had exceptional service and care from the owners and staff and would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone! Wonderful value for money and we will definitely return! Keep up the great work Cipri, Giulia and the team!

This is a first class Italian restaurant. We have been here now 3 times and never been disappointed. The service is swift and pleasant waitresses. Food is 1st class cannot fault any of the meals we had . The Tiramisu is amazing and must be tried!!! Well done to all the staff.

We had a lovely evening in spite of social distancing. The food was delicious, the waiting staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great. We went on a Tuesday night and there was only one empty table so booking is essential. But this is where it falls down. The only way to book is to phone but no one ever answers! You can leave a message but it can take 24 hours to get back to you. So book early to ensure a good night out!

Situated within a 16c Inn, the restaurant is bright and modern within. The menu has a heavier than usual emphasis on tomato based dishes, even for an Italian, but there are a few other options, and we both had a really good meal. The Tiramisue didn't live up to the claims made for it; but would happily visit again.

I'm not a fan of Italian restaurants but was outvoted on this one. The food was well presented and tasted delicious. there's one waitress with a bad attitude, the phone on the front counter is annoying. The wine, there's a good selection, however highly-priced. even by the glass if available.

We went to eat about 3p.m. on a Saturday when the restaurant advertised it was open.The door was closed but someone was about we knocked and a waitress arrived at the door ,we asked when they were open and she said the hours are written outside, they were and it clearly said they should be open then.The waitress then said that they had not had any customers so they had closed?We asked when we could eat and were told 5.30 but we had to leave by 7 p.m.Luckily we did come back as the food was very good indeed and our second waitress was welcoming.The antipasta was varied and the accompanying bread good. Both our Pizzas were crisp and tasty ,I had to take half away, so sadly no room for pudding although they looked good. Service was a bit slow so we were past our deadline of 7 not sure what would have happened if we had wanted pudding. There was no sign of the next diners. The house wine was good value and tasty so overall a good experience despite an unpromising start.

We both had the Porchetta - delicious, then shared a dessert as we were too full to have one each! Service was very friendly. Prices very fair, and wine very cheap compared to the usual restaurant mark up.

This is a fantastic little restaurant. We were visiting Horncastle for a mini break and love Italian food and were not disappointed. The staff are lovely, friendly and very helpful. The food was out of this world and the mussels were top notch. When it came to dessert we wanted an Affagatto but it wasn’t on the menu, this was not a problem and even better it came with a shot of Amaretto which made it even better. If we ever are in Horncastle again we would book here in a heart beat

Was staying in the area, so we booked into the little Italian gem. Lovely welcome and well spaced out tables. All the courses were superb and so were the staff. Couldn't fault anything. Well done to all and thanks for a lovely evening.

Yet again Montebello exceeded all hopes and expectations in providing our small family unit excellent food to our home for a birthday celebration - the food was lovely and wholesome and provided in a timely friendly manner. And to further compliment the experience - it was at a good VfM price. We all really enjoyed the treat - thanks Montebello! The restaurant always has a nice vibe as it is very clean and normally being quite busy (quite rare for Horncastle). Great selection of food and every meal I have ever had has been good.

Visited tonight for the first time and it was brilliant, from entry to leaving the staff where very attentive and professional, the food was just outstanding and cooked to perfection We will definitely be coming back thank you

This is, without a doubt, the best restaurant I have been to in Horncastle. It outstrips the competition in terms of service, presentation, cleanliness, management competence, and most importantly the food is outstanding! I highly recommend it to everyone. You will not be disappointed. An amazing dish to try is the scallops with pancetta and tomato sauce.

We called in here because of the very good reviews. The young lady who took the order was very pleasant and efficient. Maybe we we were unlucky, but having ordered a calzone verdure and calzone farcito (filled with ...), to take out we were so disappointed! Flat and lacking in filling and so much dough around the edges. Needless to say, we won't return!

Visited with friends for the evening as we were visiting the area. Italian is my favourite food and it was the best Italian food I've ever tasted. We had three courses and every course was marvellous. Great staff too. Can't wait to visit again. Well done guys!

Excellent all round - very friendly, good intelligent service, well presented food, steak with gorganzola sauce to be recommended, very pleasant atmosphere, C19 virus precautions were very sensible.

Lovely to be able to have a meal from Montebello’s again. Food excellent as always and arrived well packaged, hot and right on time. Really glad to be able to still support local restaurants in these difficult times and enjoy an excellent meal!

We organised a takeaway (well delivery) from Montebello (Horncastle) and as with the restaurant food (not available at present) the takeaway/delivered menu was just as good - indeed it was excellent (restaurant food in the home)Organising was easy (thru email and/or telephone conversations) as was the friendly and timely delivery service - adhering to social distancing - Brill! And to top it all off - VfM is first rate!I have always recommended Montebello restaurant - well in these "unprecedented" times I would equally have no hesitation in recommending Montebello's take-away/home delivery service - EXCELLENT!

Having found Montebello on the outskirts of Horncastle I was initially surprised as to how busy it was on a Friday lunchtime, but I soon found out. The initial look of the interior was smart and clean with a nice atmosphere and were welcomed by smiling staff and taken to our table. There were options for the value lunchtime meals or main menu. We actually chose from the main menu and chose a lovely white wine to go with the meals. The starters, a garlic bread with caramelised onions and a mushroom dish were perfect. The mains, a risotto and a penne were also well presented, very tasty and filling. We did not have room for a sweet but the choice looked good. We heard nothing but the buzz of happy conversations and will be back soon in the evening to try more of the menu. Great value for money.

Tried this restaurant for lunch on February 14th. Each setting had a red rose. Lots of tables for 2. Staff very friendly and efficient. We went for the lunch menu at £10.95 per person for 2 courses (starter & main). The food was very nicely presented and tasty. Some bread and olives were placed on the table (perhaps they could put a little olive oil on table too in case required - would be nice with the bread). We both selected different dishes. All 4 dishes were very good. Antipasti Italian meats with salad, meatballs in tomato sauce with bread, lamb with potatoes and a tomato sauce, penne al fungi. Restaurant has a good atmosphere. We will return and maybe try the main menu next time.

I had Pollo ai Funghi (delicious) my wife had the Vegetarian Pizza (Meh). The waiter was very attentive, kept the water & bread coming. Good prices, nice atmosphere.

The service was friendly and efficient, the waiting staff going out of their way to accommodate my needs. The food came out quickly and was of a very high standard. I had deep fried Sicilian rice balls filled with chicken to start and as a main course I had the best Calzone (folded pizza). I would recommend this restaurant because it really does feel like you’ve been transported to Italy or eating in Nonna’s kitchen.

Very busy when we visited - god job we booked! Lovely, typical Italian buzz. Very friendly welcome and service. Olives and bread / oil (free), and a delicious main meal, attractively presented. We were the last to leave but no pressure to leave. Worth visiting and we will definitely return.

Came here with 6 ladies before Christmas, we all had a lovely relaxed meal, very tasty, lovely atmosphere we were not rushed totally enjoyed it.

Went here for lunch with family and it was excellent. Customer service was amazing and the food was quality. We chose meals off the lunch list and there was a variety of dishes for a very reasonable price. A very relaxed and welcoming environment, would definitely recommend.

Since Julia and her husband have taken over the restaurant the food has got progressively better. We had a meal last night and it was exceptional (sirloin steak and two pasta dishes plus lovely home-made desserts)

Very good restaurant. Food was nice even if it was Italien food cooked by a Romanian.The toilets could do with disabled and baby changing facilities. Staff polite and efficient. Although I would have preferred a more attentive service.

I'll be honest, I don't really like Italian food, but I swant to be fair to the restaurant. I got nagged into booking a table for a family birthday treat. On the plus side, the staff ere all very friendly and professional and that made it a pleasant evening out. The rest of the family certainly enjoyed their food - lasagne, spag bol and veggie pizza. I had risotto which was described as vegetarian (not vegan) but when it arrived, it had clearly got quite a lot of parmesan stirred into it and more on top. I'm not allergic as such, but I don't like cheese and was rather miffed it wasn't listed on the menu. If it had have been, I would have asked for it to be left out. They were good about leaving aubergine off my daughter's pizza, so I reckon they would have been happy to adapt. Unfortunately, there were no veg or salad sides available. However I would take the family out here again now that I'm forewarned!

Have visited twice now, once for dinner and once for lunch(took the advantage of the lunch time special, just under £10 for 2 courses)... spoilt for choice on the menus! Freshly prepared and superbly presented, warm and friendly staff!

Lovely atmosphere and the waiting staff member serving us was delightful (Monday evening, teenage girl, we were sitting by the window). The food was so full of flavour and the options were varied which was unexpected considering it's a small, independent business. We booked a table but that probably wasnt necessary for a Monday evening. The prices were slightly steep for the location (perhaps bigger portions would make up for it?) but I'd happily return with friends or family on the right occasion.

I was expecting a fabulous Italian meal and got a mediocre English version of an Italian dish.

Just love the way they cook in this restaurant. I had the Seabass which was cooked to perfection.... it is every time we go. Hubby had the pizza - thin, crispy and flavoursome. Just the way he likes them.

We visited with friends who live locally and they selected this restaurant which was an excellent choice. The Italian menu was suitable for them as vegetarians and they had a prawn dish that was great. My wife had the veal and I had a sirloin steak which was melt in the mouth and one of the tastiest steaks I have had in a while. The price of the food was very reasonable and the staff and service were great. In all the evening was a great success.

Lovely staff. Nice clean tidy dining room. My family absolutely loved the food! I can’t eat lactose or gluten and there was only one dish I could have but it was GREAT! Reasonable prices too. Well done Montebello.

We were recommended to eat here during a two night stay in Horncastle.

Hadn’t been to eat here for some time, went on Thursday evening and we were all very impressed with the service and the standard of food. Will certainly come again. Only suggestion would be a more extensive list of desserts - though be aware the starters are big so maybe it’s a choice between starter and dessert- difficult one !

Seven of us decided to try Montebello on 31st July (2019) - it looked to be clean and the waitresses gave us a warm welcome, but it went downhill from there. The starters were OK, but not great - my wife's baked Camembert was microwaved to a slush. The main issue was when they missed one of the main courses so that 6 of us were eating and one was not! After 15 minutes the missing dish still hadn't arrived and there was no apology until I started to make a fuss. Eventually it arrived but by that time all the other main courses had been eaten. Although they did not charge us for the late meal the evening was ruined. I don't think we'll be going there again.

A modern interior, lovely staff, excellent food and drinks all at a sensible price, what more do you want? Busy even early in the week so best to book. Definitely the best Italian for miles. Highly recommend.

Booked this after reading reviews on Tripadvisor, three of us eating on a Friday evening. Greeted at once and shown to a table, the restaurant was busy.

Called in with our daughter and son in law for an inpromptu evening. The staff were lovely and helpful, starters brilliant and main course to die for. A proper Italian in Horncastle, amazing. We've been before, but this place still amazes with the authentic Italian food! Can't wait to come back!!

My husband and I were staying in Horncastle for a few day’s holiday, so decided to try this restaurant, having read good reviews. This was a Wednesday evening, last week in July, so thought it better to book. We phoned at around 6pm that same night for an 8pm booking and we were able to get a table, but it was busy, so glad we had booked.

Lovely ambience staff fantastic amazing food surprised it is not five star rated muscles and pizzas amazing well done.

What a great find, fantastic menu, great quality food and perfectly pitched natural service where nothing was too much trouble. We were dining with 2 kids and the kids menu was a perfect mixture. I understand that they have also just opened another restaurant in Louth and I am sure it will be just as good, will be visiting it on our next visit.

Always a favourite when I visit Horncastle, food as always spot on, great friendly service, really reasonable on the pocket too, heartily recommend.

In Horncastle for a midweek lunch - Montebello looked interesting and we weren't disappointed.

Booked a table at this restaurant as we were staying nearby at Winceby and the reviews were really good. I can honestly say we had one of the best meals we’ve eaten in a long time... and so cheap!

Wandering in Horncastle simply for a day out, two couples after enjoying the bric-a-brac shops and the delightful second-hand book shops, stopped off for lunch at the Montebello, which we had already booked. Our welcome was warm, our table was ready and the menus distributed and explained. A lovely range of Italian dishes, and the wines, that for once were sensibly priced. As soon as we were seated olives and bread arrived, which is always nice whilst deciding on choices. Our waitress, was delightful, very helpful, and with just the right amount of chatter !

Cannot fault this lovely restaurant. All our meals were served together (we were a party of eight) and were well-presented and delicious. Service was impeccable and the restaurant itself was spotless. Highly recommend and am looking forward to a return visit.

Went here for a family lunch (adults) today and it was fantastic. I had the two course lunch meal deal .. (£10.95) meatballs with bread and the mushroom pasta also comes with a coffee....superb.. so tasty! Never had these dishes from here before and wanted to try something new... also had a pudding, Chocolate pot.. it was to die for... best lunch I’ve eaten out in a while. My partner had the four cheese pizza and it was the best pizza he’s had and two beers... all came to £36... very happy and will definitely come for lunch again!

The food was good. Very tasty, fresh produce. Service was pleasant. We felt that the only issue to fault was the ambience. The background music was far too low, and the noise of chatty diners did not enhance the experience.

Great meal last night, 5 of us went and all had different things. All of our meals were beautifully cooked, nice and hot and the staff were superb. This restaurant is nicely set out in two rooms. We were well looked after and not rushed at all. The verdict - will definitely come again for sure.

Having been here many times under the previous owner we were very disappointed this time, and we did not even get to eat..we booked a table for two for 8-30pm a few days before but when we arrives at 8-30 we were told there wasn't a table available for us as they had had an unexpected table of eight..whether they had booked or just turned up was not the issue but to be let down like this is unacceptable..having stood in the doorway for a few minutes feeling like a couple of lemons, as there is no where to sit and wait, I noticed the waiter taking orders from a table of six and there were two tables who had not eaten either so it was obviously going to be a long wait..so we left and were asked if we would like to rebook..no thnx..I suppose from their point of view 8 x ££'s is better than 2 x ££'s but very very poor customer service..

Great meal. Perfectly cooked. Good wine and good service. Very pleasant surroundings. Efficient and friendly staff. We will definitely be back.

We had an evening meal here and it was excellent, good food, lovely atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. Food was presented in a nice fashion, beautifully set out.

We have dined at this restaurant on our last visit to Horncastle and it did not fail to please again the food was excellent we tried two of the dish's of the special menu which were fish and veal and they were both really top notch. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the staff are very friendly

We have visited Montebello on a number of occasions over the last 12months and on every occasion it has never failed to deliver good quality, wholesome and excellent value food (as well as refreshments) - you would be hard pressed to find a better eatery in the Horncastle area - excellent

Very enjoyable tasty fresh well cooked lunch with excellent service, so much so, that we have booked again for dinner. Very nice restaurant with great ambience and a great lunch at a good price.

Visited on a Thursday night in January so expected it to be quiet and yes it was however still had a good meal. Mixed anti-pasti starter was great, plenty of assorted salami and parma ham also some cheeses and mixed salad with olives and of course tomato on bruchetta, more than enough for 2 !!! Main meals very tasty but a little disappointed as the wild boar with penne on the special board sold out so had chorizo, bacon and chilli, bit warm but not too hot. My partner had the marinara (sea food) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The real disappointments were the desserts, choc and amaretto mouse had a thick skin on and not much flavour and my partners canneletti desert was hard and also not much flavour. Over all had a good meal and would recommend it.

Montebello in Horncastle can be a victim of its own success if you try to book at short notice, especially on a Friday or Saturday night, but that is a sign how good is it.

My starter of garlic mushrooms accompanied by toast would have been fine except the toast was dry and more like a rusk. My main of whole baked seabass looked OK although slightly overcooked until I had consumed one side and turned it over. The other side was burnt, overcooked and the flesh stuck to the blackened skin. I assumed that the fish had been placed on a very hot surface in an attempt to either reheat it or keep it hot. At this stage I could not have managed a complete replacement fish and the rest of my party had nearly finished anyway so I simply complained when the waiter cleared away. My sweet was fine but what happened next appalled me.

Our first visit to Montebello since it changed hands and we were not disappointing. We had a great evening and will return when they put Veal on as a special as promised to my partner.

Having not realised the Christmas Market was on we were struggling to find somewhere we could sit down and eat. We spotted this place on google and were pleased to see they had plenty of room despite the crowd. Given how busy it was in town we were a little worried the prices could be sky high or the food really poor but we needn’t have worried as there was a great value lunch menu with a good range of authentic Italian food and everything we had was delicious! Very impressed indeed and we will definitely stop in again for lunch and maybe dinner if we get the chance. There was a range of specials in addition to the lunch deal menu should you want something a bit different. The front of house waitress was very friendly and polite. It was pleasant and relaxed like all good Italians should be. Thank you very much we will be back.

Our party of 7 enjoyed a delicious meal here this weekend in this smart, seemingly popular restaurant. We ordered a range of dishes from the extensive menu to suit all our needs - a child, a vegetarian, healthy eaters and a food intolerance! The staff were friendly and attentive and all courses were very well received. If we were to be in the area again we would most definitely return.

Booked here for our anniversary as we're staying nearby in our caravan...Quite a busy place which is always good to see..There was something on the menu to suit us both ..The food was of good quality...Italian though?? Probably not..I've are similar in a non Italian restaurant before...Friendly staff though and not too bad price wise but afterwards my wife and I both agreed it wasn't very Italian.

Hidden away in a side street of this little market town this super, mainly Itallian restaurant is worthwhile finding. Although it has all the pizzas, pastas, risottos that you expect, there is a most excellent menu which changes frequently and offers a greater variety. Continental flavours overall, but if, for instance you don't like garlic, then chef will prepare your dish without. Service was professional but friendly; atmosphere relaxed and cosy. Reservations adviseable.

i went this weekend and the place is a little small but very clean and the smells from the kitchen were beautiful . the food and service were fantastic and the waiting staff did not rush you in any way . i will go there again for sure

Stayed a week in Horncastle and went there on 4th night. Excellent food, excellent staff, excellent service. Don't miss a visit if you are in the area. We went back on final night and all was excellent also.

Visited for first time taking Dad out for Sunday Lunch and for him it was Italian and not the usual Sunday Roast but he was not disappointed. The food was all cooked from scratch and every course was fantastic from the soup ,meatball starter and the mushrooms then on to the main courses which were even better.

Fantastic pub refurbished into a great little Italian restaurant. Excellent food from a great menu eat a reasonable cost. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would recommend a visit as a couple, family or business colleagues.

A lovely little restaurant tasteful refurbished in a modern style. Very good service and obliging to the customers requirements including children. Lovely.

Restaurant was recommended to us. Walked straight in to find plenty of room for us. Order taken efficiently and professionally. The food was fabulous and hot. After a while the place started to fill and the atmosphere was great.my only criticism is that when there were only a few people in the music was loud and you couldn't hear your own conversation. Found out that the place has recently been taken over and would definitely go again.

Came here at the last minute and delighted that we did. Lovely family ambience, great food (only lost a star as the chilli sauce needed chillies!), great service, great lunchtime menu. Fair prices. Really recommended.

We decided to visit this restaurant on the last day of our holiday. We made a great choice. Food was excellent and the service outstanding. Reasonably priced too. For my main course I ordered a seafood pasta. Very good portion size and so much seafood. Yummy . If I'm ever in Lincolnshire I will definitely visit again

The Montebello has been a success for a few years now, but changes have been made so I was a little apprehensive in case it has been spoiled. After two Saturday night meals back to back, I can report that we are mostly still quite satisfied with it.

After a previous visit, where the service was poor- our family visit was so much better. The food is of a good standard and reasonably priced. The only one thing I would change would be the quality of the tomatoes in the caprice salad, which were a bit bland and tasted like they'd come off the supermarket shelf.

Lovely meal, excellent service fresh fish specials were superb 😊 we enjoyed the food, the atmosphere was really nice too

We went for lunch as the restaurant is under new management, still the same excellent chef, just a change to front of house staff and menu offering. There is an excellent "Lite Bite" lunchtime menu with a specials board for more substantial dishes, also the main a la carte is also available during the day and in the evening. We enjoyed our lunch and would recommend a visit if you enjoy authentic Italian food in a relaxed and friendly environment. Julia was most welcoming and offered every assistance in our choice of dishes.

Visited on the evening of 29th July, lovely warm welcome from the staff members. Food was amazing, I had the fresh king prawn dish..highly recommend however if people are screamish I recommended when ordering you ask for the prawns to be topped and tailed. Never have I once had a bad experience here, love it.

Went here on a busy Saturday night having only visited previously on a midweek lunchtime. The menu was very comprehensive and the Specials Board was just that - none of your standard food choices dressed up as a special! The food was fantastic and although the restaurant was busy and they were still fitting in customers who hadn’t booked we weren’t rushed at all. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to return!
