A group of 4 ate this evening, 28.03.24, and are looking forward to going back soon. We all had different meals and each of us would recommend our individual meals. Lovely waitress who interacted with us, not just taking our order, and the chef even acknowledged us through the hatch. As a side note - leave room for the cheesecake. Can't wait to go back and try the next thing on the menu.

My friend and I were looking for somewhere to eat on a Saturday evening and this place visibly had space, admittedly not always a good sign, but thought we'd try it. It has an outer and inner door, effectively an air lock, but means that your arrival is heralded by the first door, however we found ourselves just simply stood for a minute waiting to be greeted. The only other diners were a table of three, everything else had been vacated with clearance needed. We asked for availability of a table for two, which was confirmed, although we had to wait for the table to be cleared first. That was in fact a wipe down of the plastic substitute damask tablecloths - elsewhere I'd expect them to simply whip the existing or soiled one away and relay the table. As we were seated the three diners adjacent to us were served, only for one to return their food as being cold, that should've been another red flag. Menus were proffered and drinks ordered, which came swiftly enough, and I suppose it's a matter of taste whether you want bottles brought to the table for you to self pour. We ordered our starters and mains - and here we have our secret weapon, with my friend being half Sicilian she knows her dishes. My starter of mussels was awash in what could have been simply a jar of Ragu along with a mediocre undressed salad. My main of Romano was similarly affected to that of my neighbouring diner with one end of the plate being 'scorchio' and the other cold, although starting at the hot end I didn't notice this soon enough. My friend's main was so unappealing that the majority was left, a decision aided by a moribund shaker of parmesan. To add to our disappointment a party of 8(?) twenty somethings came and occupied a nearby table and were extremely raucous from the outset, even the waitress making comment to us, but she failed to make any request to them. With the decor, or perhaps lack of it and any soft furnishings that might nullify or absorb the noise it became a very unpleasant experience as we really struggled to make ourselves heard to one another. It actually feels more of a canteen than a restaurant, and not somewhere you would want to go for an evening meal, especially given the variety on offer elsewhere in Louth, a candidate for the Polizzi or Ramsey experience maybe. So you may have already guessed this, but I'd not be recommending Il Padrino to anyone unless it hopefully sorts itself out.

Had a lovely meal out today with my family. The food was wonderful and the service was second to none. Very busy but the waitress kept her cool and did a brilliant job. Thanks for a great meal

Food tasted tasted off was very sour, the lasagna was just full of tomato sauce, cheese cake not made but brought from heron and the bottle of wine also brought from Aldi and over charging also witnessed him swearing at staff calling them the b word

Called in after the cinema as I just fancied a lasagne, we wasn't disappointed, the lasagne was delicious, the chips were homemade a great. The hubby had a chicken and Stilton dish which was also delicious, the service was attentive but not over powering. All in all great food and service. We will be returning.

A quick lunchtime visit after seeing a chalkboard outside. We had a lunchtime special type deal, very inexpensive. The soup was delicious and the Cannelloni was fine. Faultless value.

We were on a holiday and searching for a restaurant to eat in Louth, and they stood out from the rest. They were exceptional. They excelled on the cooking and on hospitality. Would highly recommend them.

A wonderful atmosphere and fantastic food. The service is amazing and the food so tasty. It is a small restaurant though so best to reserve a table if you want to eat in, although takeaway is available as far as I'm aware. Cannot wait to return.

I had the Pollo Stilton with a nice taste creamy sauce, home made chips and a big plate of salad with a tasty bottle of dressing to use. I asked for bread and did not regret as it was a nice one as well. I would recommend. I had too much though so I will have another meal with my take away

Had a meal here on Friday lunchtime and it was absolutely fantastic, beautifully cooked and presented and tasted so authentic. The lady who was serving was so nice and pleasant. It's great to find an Italian restaurant open on a lunchtime which suits us. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely restaurant, friendly staff and great selection of food. We went for a birthday celebration & was glad we did as the food was delicious; good portion sizes & great value for money. Covid safe measures in place with face masks to be worn when walking about, hand sanitiser on arrival etc. Everyone complied so it felt very safe. Looking forward to a return visit.

Went based on Google reviews, but failed to see why it got the 4.8 out of 5. Food OK, but nothing special. If you don't want to stick pizza in the oven at home, this is an easy option. Bill was around 50 quid for 2 adults and a child.

Stumbled upon this first class place by chance. The food was excellent , you can watch the Chef preparing the food which was tasty and very good value. The safety measures are first class , tables very well separated , the premises are very clean all cutlery wrapped when presented at the table by polite staff.Walk just a few yards from the centre it’s worth it

We have recently moved to Louth and adore Italian food so was really hoping we would do cover one that was amazing and we have! The waitress was exceptional in service and was straight away organising our drinks. She gave advice on the wine that was on the specials board which proved to be excellent with the food. I had lasagne and my partner had the chicken pasta special dish. Both portions were hot and extremely tasty. Compliments to you the chef and kitchen staff. Will definitely be returning and highly recommend this restaurant. Well done all!

Lovely little place. Came here for my birthday and made me feel special. Had both prawn dishes. Preferred the lemon one but both absolutely delish! Tiramisu to die for! Highly recommended.

Well, it’s been a while since l wrote any kinda review but as this was such a bad experience l could not help but do this place the justice it deserves.Maybe l’m kinda used to a decent meal when the place is getting paid for what it’s supposed to do - ie serve the meal described on the menu - or maybe during the lock down and COVID things have gotten to hot in the kitchen.All l can describe is my experience - which hurts to be honest.It’s not what l would call a 5* Italian Restaurant - l accept this 100% before l walked through the door. I wasn’t expecting that kind of place.However, l have eaten in 100’s of places all over the world that are (or appear to be) just the same as this place.I had a little difficulty with my wine order but that’s just me wanting what l want - the waitress was great and we (together) got what l wanted. I have no complaint with that.Nor do l have any issue with the waiting staff - however - they are (as l now understand) held under a rod of iron from the delinquent that acts as a chef.Chef! Really?My starter (if that effort could be described as such) was a stuffed pepper -allegedly with mushrooms, chicken, minced beef topped with cheese.This l cannot deny was the dish presented - however - it must have emerged from the freezer whenst placed in 1973 - soggy, stodgy, no taste, no flavour, no seasoning - in fact nothing like l would expect (l have eaten many a decent stuffed pepper from Corfu & Turkey - indeed from my own kitchen) However, it was mouton hot - prolly from the 25 minutes it spent in the micro wave.Main course - spaghetti (how can you bugger that up) Simples - visit here - over cooked slop - mine was supposed to have chilly (l found some “bits”) Anchovies (l found several parts that could have once made one anchovie) and olive oil - now that was in abundance, as were the olives (not mentioned on the menu)To be truthful - the entire meal was awful. When l stated that the stater was vile the reply was that no one had ever complained about that dish before.When l asked about the main course the waitress asked the chef to deal with my complaint - NEVER have l l experienced such VIOLENCE before from an alleged Patron in all of my years of eating out.I pointed out the limited supply of anchovies and chilly - all he could do was spit at me whilst attempting to point out the olives (not part of the dish on the menu) and then knocking over my glass of wine. I believe he thought he could bully me into believing his food was great, he stood over me swearing and shouting, calling me names and telling me that l have no idea what l was on about - he attempted to belittle me - well - if you read this you will know that you have failed.I was then asked to leave (1st time in my life this has happened) after l had paid for my glass of wine (1/2 of which is on the floor)The waitress then pointed out that 4 of the guests in 2 different tables had pointed ME out as a trouble maker.Goodness me. Maybe something wasn’t quite right tonight. But l do feel hard done by - l love GOOD Italian food -but l will complain if it’s not good - maybe as a small town Italian they ain’t used to blokes like me that like (and are ) used to eating good Italian food.My experience is that l so t going there again( a shame because l’m working here for the next 4 weeks) l’ll try the other one up the road.So, if you want to be insulted because your food is not what you expected give this DUMP a try!I ate at Blooms in the 80’s - this made is more arrogant than all the waiters combined - you wanna lhave the most threatening experience - eat here (WongKee in China Town was all of that and more)If l could use foul language then l would - this place wrecks if it all.0-100-100%I have never given such a negative review

Very c-19 safe feel. Eg menus pinned to the wall next to each table and cutlery in plastic bags. Super selection of food, good choice of drinks. Lovely to see the chefs working in the kitchen from the tables. Delicious food, good portions. Friendly feel to the place thanks to the staff. Open on a Sunday, really useful as not much else is in Louth.

At first glance it doesn't look that great decor wise. But the food makes up for it in abundance. Fantastic food, by far easy the best Italian restaurant in louth. And reasonably priced too.

We have never been disappointed here, the food is delicious and freshly cooked, nothing is too much trouble. They can cook smaller portions when asked as the food is generous in size.

Have eaten here inside (pre-Coronavirus) and have now had a takeaway too. Absolutely outstanding. Ridiculously generous portion sizes, very good value for money, and incredibly tasty. Perfect for big appetites, so order carefully as you could end up with far too much! Garlic bread, and pizza were top notch in particular.

Love the people there the food is tasty and good quality cooked fresh with care. Has some takeaways in lockdown which were fantastic, miss visiting the restaurant though as the friendly warm welcome and atmosphere make the whole experience more enjoyable

Just had a takeaway for my daughters birthday meal. So impressed with the quality of the food, it was as good as it is the restaurant. Will definitely have another takeaway during lockdiwn. I always have Penne al Forno which is so tasty. Would definitely recommend Il Padrino as a takeaway and also the restaurant when lockdown is over. Superb ******

We have taken advantage of the takeaway service they are offering during the lockdowns and have again done this today. The service and quality of food is outstanding and really good value. Would particularly recommend the Calzone which is packed with flavour. We just can’t wait to eat in the restaurant again. Thank you.

Have eaten at this restaurant many times so thrilled to find they were offering a takeaway service during this lock down. Had mushroom starter & pepper starter followed by cannelloni & pasta Al Forno. Everything absolutely delicious. Very generous portions at very reasonable prices. Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Called in for our first visit at lunch time. Great deals on then. Soup, Cannelloni and a Calzone pizza with a glass of wine all that for £15.40 great food, we will be back.

My husband, Mother and son have been coming to Il Padrino since it opened. Italian food is our favourite and we have enjoyed it in many countries, including Italy. The food is incredibly delicious, and compares favourably with eating, in Italy as I believe the chef is Italian. We have enjoyed the crisp pizzas, the beautifully flavoured pasta dishes and excellent secondi. The portions are generous, so leave plenty of space. The prices are very reasonable for the quality you receive. Wine is amazingly well priced and very enjoyable. The cafe Strega ice cream dessert is my all time favourite. And better than all of this is the wonderful, warm welcome we have always received. We are greeted like friends and made to feel so at home. We ate there last week for my birthday, and are returning this week for my son’s. We are deeply impressed with the precautions put in place for Covid-19: temperatures taken on arrival, good distancing, sealed cutlery packets and masks worn by staff. My Mum is a bit agoraphobic in these COVID times and she felt so safe, it made her really happy. Well done Il Padrino, we love you .

Ate here a week ago. Same friendly service and atmosphere as pre-virus. We have been regulars since it's opening, whenever we come across to Louth ( as we don't live locally.) Have always enjoyed excellent quality, freshly prepared food.So glad you managed to re-open, we didn't want to lose you !Great food, portion sizes and prices.Keep up the great work ! Our fist time back hear since lockdown and the experience was faultless. Excellent food and service with well thought out Covid precautions. A good selection on the menu cooked perfectly and served promptly. We felt very comfortable eating here under the current regulations and will certainly be back.

Great covid changes made. Temperatures taken on arrival and reminders to sanitise hands. Staff wearing face masks.It was a our 1st visit here and we were pleasantly surprised. Quite a small restaurant but the menu selections and portion size pack a punch! Great pricing too, we went during the government scheme but would happily pay the full price too and will return. Kiddies had a pizza and pasta. Both were huge portions and got the seal of approval from the kids. My creamy chicken pasta was lovely, tasted fresh and although I needed the parmesan cheese to add flavour to suit my taste buds it was really very nice. Hubby had the seafood pasta and mum opted for the coated chicken. All the portions were well cooked and a good size. It has a lovely family feel about it and we felt very welcomed. The cheesecake is sumptuous. Our daughter didn't want to share but I managed to snaffle a spoonful and wasn't disappointed. The staff go above and beyond check everything is OK and to your liking. Very attentive without being intrusive. Hats off to all the staff they make the welcoming atmosphere and obviously care about their customers. We will definitely be back, its a great place for a family meal

Yesterday after 3 years of living 15 mins walk away my husband and I finally got around to eating here. I wish we had done it earlier! With the virus around, here you can feel safe immediately, sanitizer on wall just as you walk in, temperature taken before you sit and tables widely spaced. The menus have been placed on the walls, so no handing issues. It was a case of what do we go for. We loved the fact that you could mix and match sauce and pasta. We settled for fusilli marinara. It was glorious. Rich tomato sauce, fresh herbs and jam packed full of seafood. We had a bread basket as well. Our only regret was that we were so full we couldn't have pudding! We will certainly be back (lots of times).

My husband and I booked Il Padrino after reading previous reviews. We also took advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out promotion and visited on a Tuesday night. The staff were friendly, welcoming and the Covid measures in place exemplary, including temperatures being taken, cutlery being fully wrapped and sealed in either napkins or plastic bags. The food was delicious,fresh ingredients, cooked to order and large portions. Well done Il Padrino on demonstrating how a small restaurant can challenge and outdo the larger chains.

Really enjoyed our meal at Il Padrino yesterday for our Anniversary. Cooking was excellent, and they have followed COVID 19 guidance to the letter. Very friendly and relaxed as ever. Nicely redecorated. I look forward to going again.

Visited last night! The food was delicious, portions were large definitely value for money. Liked the fact you could choose your pasta type with each dish. Husband had calzone and said it was the tastiest he has had. Under £50 for 2 adults and 2 children with drinks and desserts. Very well equipped and organised with the current situation temp check in way in and limited handling of utensils etcWill certainly return

This was a Lunch for my wife’s birthday (doubled with outta lockdown celeb). All the current regulations were in place, but not in your face , so you could enjoy your dining experience. Straight into mains, Chicken for the wife, Calzone for me and a child’s pizza for our four year old, that would have suited most adults. With Chips and salad. Really was great. Combinations of Tiramisu n ice cream followed. Certainly no complaints there. Deffo on my “must go back” list. Just got to burn off today’s calories!

The food was excellent the only complaint would be the service received from the young waitress today who had blonde hair and wore glasses. Firstly I feel she had a bit of an attitude problem when taking the orders for the group, not only that but when asking for things they would be forgotten or it would seem an awful effort for her to sort out. The forgotten items where then charged on the bill which had to be checked three times, no apology was given at all and it was made to feel like it was our fault. One of the starters had clearly been forgotten and once mentioned twice we were told to wait a few more minutes again no apology for this. There was another waiter, male, he was very nice and attentive it’s a pity he was not the main server as this review would have been 5. Due to the poor service received we will not be returning which is sad due to the good quality of the food but this waitress really lets the place down.

If you enjoy authentic Italian food, individual and outstanding service, this is the place to come! This is an Italian restaurant that is actually Italian, unlike some. The chef is Italian and you can even watch him preparing your meal as you sit in the delightful original restaurant which is immaculately clean.Beautifully cooked food, extremely affordable, very professional and friendly, efficient service. Wheelchair, pushchair and people friendly! Ci vediamo presto!

Our first visit to Il Padrino did not disappoint. It had been recommended to us and as we were out with our 2 Itallian food lovers we thought it a good idea to book here. We thought all the food was delicious, and can definatley recomment the tiramusu - our friends commented the overall quality and taste of the dishes was much better than more expensive restaurants - excellent value for money. The restuarant has a warm, cosy atmosphere - we were there on a Saturday evening which was very busy so definitely a good idea to book. We will certainly return & can't wait.

Party of seven for an early family meal. Warm welcome and delicious home cooked food. Very good with the children and nothing too much trouble. Very reasonably priced.
