Very good food and helped me find my lost hat

Every year the first Christmas card of the season arrives early in December from Monsoon. It includes a discount for a meal costing over £30. Every year we fail to spend enough to use the discount. A lot of things, including restaurant prices, have changed since covid so we are optimistic about next year. One of the reasons for the low prices is that Monsoon does not have a licence to serve alcohol. Luckily any kind of beer or wine is available two doors down. Apart from alcohol Monsoon has everything you need and the dishes are tasty and generous. If you ask the waiters will offer, very good, suggestions from the long and varied menu. The atmosphere in the small dining area is relaxed and comfortable. The staff are well-organised and the food arrives quickly while you watch the take-aways leaving the kitchen. Today we shared one meat and one vegetable dish, cucumber raita, rice, nann bread and poppadoms. We managed to achieve a bill of £33 but, sadly, the discount expired a long time ago.

Accepted my order via just eat. Courier calls me well after the time it was meant to be delivered to say the address was too far away and they don’t deliver that far, even though they accepted the order knowing the address and it’s only 3 miles away. Very unhelpful staff overall.

Recommended by a good friend and it didn’t disappoint! Amazing flavours, portion sizes (had to bring some of the good stuff home!) and reasonable price. BYOB - there’s a great off licence a couple doors down with a great selection of wines beers and ciders. Will definitely be back again and order online :-)

Food is over-flavoured and lacks subtlety.

Ordered on a Saturday evening, delivered in 30 minutes. Good sized portions, and two out of three dishes were excellent, but the third was terrible. Chani Puri (starter) and Beigan Masala were both delicious. However, Chilli "Ponir" was just awful. Huge chunks of white onion and an insipid, bland sauce accompanied paneer that somehow managed to be even blander. The whole dish tasted of almost nothing, and was far and away the worst chilli paneer I have ever tasted. Five stars for the good dishes, but minus two for the bad one.

After a long time I was recommended by my friend for takeout at this restaurant Monsoon York Rise NW5 . The Chef done it exactly how I wanted my dishes to be . A1 delicious Dansak/ Karahi/ Sag Aloo perfect bit of a kick to my throat lovely Thank you we’ll come back.

Absolutely disgusting food, customer service … so so rude and adamant that spending £50 for something like crap’ in a Tupperware box was ok & out right refused to re deliver most of our items that was drenched in floating oils & looked nothing like any Indian I have ever seen before. Said ‘next time we make it right’ This food was not fit to eat. After refusing to compromise I asked for a refund which was another blatant ‘NO’ I did end up getting part refund after a very long task !!! Bottom line is AVOID this restaurant at all costs Nasty nasty nasty vile place, people & FOOD !!!

Still the best curry for miles! It's a BYO (so it's dead cheap!) but there's a great off licence a few doors down and a pub opposite for supplies of booze.

Terrible take away. Had used them before and were loyal however, after tonight’s experience, I would rather starve then use them again. Rude, arrogant, refused a refund over raw keema naan and a tikka masala that looked and tasted like a Korma. Food was not fresh either, especially when it took 10 minutes to arrive.

We have had consistently lovely food delivered! Furthermore great service, for example the last time we ordered they made a slight mistake with one meal (chicken rather than prawn for our pescatarian children), but after one simple phone call they drove over with a replacement corrected meal!

This no-frills Indian restaurant does reliably good food and has a really friendly staff. It's small and located on a quiet side street in near Dartmouth Park/Kentish town. I highly recommend the Achari lamb if you like heat and flavour and their version of Saag Paneer is really tasty with a coconuty twist! They also offer the standard masala curries for a milder dish. Can't wait to return!

This was our local curry for 2 years and we loved it! Often tempted by the smell when walking past. The staff were always really friendly and helpful. A lovely local restaurant with yummy food! We miss it!

I am stunned by the negative reviews. Since moving to the area, this has been the only Indian restaurant I have been ordering from, and it’s by far the best I have ever had. The Sha-coo-tee is to die for, and the Bombay Murgh Masala is literally the best curry I have ever had. Both of these, in fact. Staff has always been friendly, delivery always on time and the one time they messed up my order I received the ‘wrong’ item for free while they corrected my order to the original one I wanted. Basically free curry! In my opinion, the no.1 best Indian takeaway in London, for both value and quality. Go for their specialty curries or North Indian dishes rather than the boring old curries, and you will be absolutely amazed by the flavours.

awful.awful.awful. daughter and I had takeaway tonight,ordered chicken madras.[don't eat red meat]got lamb or beef,not quite sure,did'nt realise ,til after i,d eaten a piece. Pilau rice tasted like plain boiled rice.daughters balti tasted of tomatoes with a slight hint of chilli, on top of all this we,ve spent the evening running to the loo with extremely loose bowel movements,needless to say entire meal ended up in the bin,may I say quite safely so foxes do'nt suffer the same fate as us, never mind the current virus,beware monsoon virus!!!!!!!!

Our Table Was Dirty And Had A Few Hair On It Properly From The Previous Customer Had The The Lam Archari The Dish Had More Pickle Piceses Then Mean And Their Mushroom In the Mushroom Rice Had A Very Weird Taste To It Cud Not Finish At After Having One Spoon Every Disspointed With Our First And Last Visit

The decor is amazing - so clean and attractive. Starched white tablecloths and smiling Indian staff. Indian food at very reasonable prices.

I love the guys in this place, always friendly in the restaurant and delivery is quick too. A good range of dishes for meat eaters, pescatarian and vegetarian alike. Our favourites are lamb bhuna, the salmon starter, tarka daal and chapatis and much more. Don't expect desi spices, but for a local restaurant it's great .

My personal experience of this restaurant was negative. A while ago I ordered a takeaway from Monsoon for me and a couple of friends and when I received the order half of it was wrong. I also didn't find their food to be particularly great or good value for money and I've eaten a lot of currys in my time. If you want a good curry try somewhere else instead seriously!

We were out for a few drinks in highgate and looking to go for a curry. Seen decent reviews for here and as it was nearby decided to try. As it was on the meercat meals 2for1 we thought that a bonus. When we arrived there were 4 people in the restaurant who left shortly afterwards. When ordering we were told we could only order traditional dishes if using meercat. Not good as we both had chosen other dishes. Doesn't make sense as the dishes were all similar prices anyway. It basically rules out 80% of the menu. It defeats the purpose of offering discounts to get people in then having unsatisfied customers as they won't return. We've tried loads of places on the meercat and when it's good we return and some of them we visit regularly as we eat out 4/5 nights a week. Needless to say we won't be returning. Pity as the food was ok even if it was lacking in atmosphere and they were rushing us bringing out mains when we hadn't even finished our poppadoms. Think they were looking to close early as it was dead.

Having lived in North London for ten years I have finally found a good Indian restaurant and take away. Fantastic food - highly recommend the Sha-Coo-Tee and the Manchurian curries. Outstanding!

My wife and I came across this restaurant by default having booked into an Airbnb just around the corner. We’ve been on holiday here in the Uk for ten days and this is by far the best food we’ve had the pleasure of enjoying in that time. All we can say is just give the place a go. Great value and brilliant staff.

Fantastic restaurant. This unlicensed gem is guaranteed to please. All the food I've had here has been brilliant and the fact that you bring your own alcohol if required means that a lower than usual bill is always a welcome surprise. Friends of mine from all over have enjoyed this restaurant including those from the curry mecca of Birmingham. It's unassuming charm keeps me coming back, in fact this review has made me hungry so i'm off to have some of their unrivalled Bhajis right now...

I am so utterly disappointed with monsoon. Tonight we were hosting some friends (one of them vegetarian) and ordered in from monsoon. We were all digging into our meal when our vegetarian guest spat out a large piece of beef from her vegetable korma. There were multiple pieces of meat in there. I am so utterly disgusted that monsoon would allow this to be handed to their customer. When calling to complain, the man on the phone asked 'how much beef?' - this is not a question that should have been asked. The rest of our meals were ruined as we had to cook for our upset guest. When we called to complain we were only offered a voucher for next time. Believe me monsoon I will not be returning. TERRIBLE.

Estoy tan completamente decepcionado con el monzón. Esta noche nos hosting amigos (uno de ellos vegetariano) y pedimos de monzón. Todos estábamos excavar en nuestra comida vegetariana cuando nuestros huéspedes discutía a un gran pedazo de carne de su vegetal korma. Había varias piezas de carne. Estoy tan completamente disgustados que permitiría a este monzón será entregado a su cliente. Cuando llamar para quejarse, el hombre en el teléfono preguntamos cuánto carne? 'esto no es una cuestión que debe haber sido preguntado. El resto de nuestras comidas estaban en ruinas, ya que tenía que cocinar para nuestros clientes a disgusto. My favourite local Indian We are spoiled for choice with Indian takeaways in North London, but Monsoon remans my favourite - friendly service, consistently high quality curries (my favourite is the hyderbadi - hot and sour and completely delicious! ) and really reasonable prices. .. plus their coconut ice cream dessert is to die for! I've only eaten in a few times but they make you feel really welcome and the fact you can bring your own wine/beer is a big bonus. Highly recommended!

Haber tenido un par de malas experiencias aquí pensamos en probar nuestro barrio casa de curry una vez más como, por supuesto, nos gustaría que este trabajo. . Sentimos que pedimos algo de auténtica comida india en nuestra última noche en Londres, leímos algunas buenas críticas y pedimos en línea varios platos de Monsoom. La comida que obtuvimos fue una variante bastante sorprendente, en el mejor de los casos vagamente relacionada con la verdadera cocina india. Un ejemplo: al igual que muchos otros críticos, conseguimos algunos trozos de pollo flotando en un mar interminable de una extraña mezcla (no puedo llamarlo curry), dulce con una espesa consistencia de maní espesa. El segundo plato principal estaba dominado por una salsa dominada por el sabor del tomate, que me recuerda a las salsas de pasta italiana. Esto no es comida india de calidad, hemos comido en varios países y mi familia de esposas es india. Ordered for delivery for the second time and once again monson didn't disappoint. Their garlic chicken is the king of curries. Had the sha-coo-tee lamb, dansak chicken (lentils with chicken is really good and different from your usual curry), as well as saag paneer. All were really good. Highly recommended this Indian restaurant, at least for takeaway as I haven't tried eating there.

Très bon restaurant de spécialités indiennes. Vente à emporter possible. Service très bon, souriant et réactif. Les plats sont copieux attention de ne pas trop commander mais possible de repartir avec ce qui n'a pas été consommé. Déco simple. A faire. Nos enfants ont très bien mangé et pas épicé sur demande.

A small friendly restaurant tucked away in the residential area of Dartmouth Park. Excellently prepared and generously portioned dishes ranging from mild to spicy. A truly authentic taste of Indian cuisine at a reasonable price. No licence for alcohol but you can bring your own at no extra charge. Highly recommended.

I have used this restaurant before but not for a few months due to being away. We had high expectations based upon previous experience. However this meal tonight was one of the worst indian meals in a long time. It was frankly horrible, The starters: onion bhaji, and meat samosas were very good. The sheek kebab was dry and tasteless. The main courses: Rogon Gosht, so full of chopped tomatoes, completely obscuring the meat, tasteless and lacking in spice; it was terrible. The lamb madras - well a total insult to lamb madras`. It was full of chopped tomato and chopped onion. No spice, bland and tasteless. The only spice appeared to be a bit of chilli. This is NOT a madras. This dish should be meat in a fragrant spicy *sauce*, not full of chopped vegetables and no sauce, this is lazy incompetent cooking. We had 'mixed vegetable curry, requested 'dry'. This was horrible, smelt old, and was full of cabbage with a few bits of cauliflower, really not good. We also had Lamb Kalia, as this is not a classic dish I can't say much beyond it could be a good dish except for the added sugar, it would have been better without that.

Monzón no tiene licencia para servir alcohol así que uno de ustedes tiene que beber cerveza en la tienda de dos puertas, pero aparte de eso el monzón tiene todo lo que usted necesita.
