What sad news. I loved The Monz, and have gone there for decades, for food and drinks. C'mon Wetherspoons!! Grab a great pub, whilst you can. We need the Monz to stay!!

just been to the mons 15/4/23 the man's toilets stinks and smell orful hold your breath when you go in and 1 of the locks on the toilet door is broken but on the plus side the hand dryer is working again... just been back on the 27/4/24 and the Mons is under new management let's see if they can improve it?

Went for a carvery meal and the selection of vegetables was poor, only two types of veg, and the peas were dried up and shriveled. The rest of the meal wasn't too bad really

Nice carvery and nice waiter, however homebake brownie which claims to have "cookie dough" and "oreo sprinkles" is a scam, it Did not contain any. Really dissapointed as we also asked the waiter who confirmed there is cookie dough in our brownie. As we where a large group we had a really good laugh as it felt like a joke, in any other circumstance i would have asked for them to take it back. Do better next time please and make sure you know whats in the brownie. Overall, every desert was a dissapointment, sticky toffe pudding isnt even sticky, just a muffin. Not impressed, 2 stars.

Absolutely appalling service and even worse food! Arrive to be told there’s no carvery because they ran out of meat! Then to spend £40 on some chicken a vile burger for a child is ridiculous!! Forgot half the food and apparently forgot they even have customers. Shocking all round! Sort it out

This carvery was the worst i have ever had. A poor choice of vegetables that consisted of undercooked cauliflower cheese, over cooked peas and carrots . The roast potatoes where either undercooked or the outside was so hard that you couldn't cut them. The meat was fine but the portion size was small. On the menu it states 5 pigs in blankets for £2.50 but the chef only gave out 3. When i complained i was told that the menu was wrong! I was given the extra but when taking the order the staff should have mentioned that the menu had changed. I will not be back.

Been to lots of places over the years but only a handful since i started doing reviews. Booked here for first time visit for Mother's Day, and booked here for last time ever, horrendous isn't the word. Food at best was the dessert For starters, i had Crispy Fried Chicken, it came with just a measly 3 pieces in a bowl with what i would call a edge of a lettuce shaving and drenched in sauce, and the chicken could of been much hotter, would of been better on a plate and presented and sauce on side to dip chicken in to, youngest brother had wings, which he said were ok, not meaty enough, and Mum had Hot 'N' Spicy Prawns, which she said were rubbery For Mains Mum had the carvery which was mainly she enjoyed except the beef was like shoe leather and the roast potatoes were nice and crispy on outside, but rock solid inside, and the gravy wasn't the best, i had the Hot Porker Burger, yes it was nice in parts, bun seemed like it had been there past it's sell by date though, the brothers both had the fish and said it was like trying to have a fight to get past the batter coatings, chips are standard Best part was the pudding , Apple Pie and Custard for Mum, i had the Berry Sundae, and brothers had Home Made Chocolate Brownie and Home Baked Sticky Toffee Pudding. Staff were like Zombies, didn't seem very happy, and the atmosphere was worse than a morgue.

Carvery didn’t have the meat I eat and didn’t have the dessert I want but other than that the food was nice and the supervisor Emma went above and beyond to help my partner who can’t eat certain ingredients, Friendly and professional. Lovely staff.

We were made to feel very unwelcome from the moment we arrived. We entered the pub and found a table to sit at. I have persistent pain, so it can be quite painful sitting on hard seats.  So we sat at a table with the cushioned bench and were almost immediately told to move as it was apparently reserved (there was no reserved sign on the table). As we were standing up, we enquired what time it was reserved from and she didn't respond. The staff member asked us to move do a different small table she had selected. The seat cushions were worn and uncomfortable. The whole place was empty, so it seemed odd. During our time at the table the one we had originally tried to sit at remained empty the whole time. So, I'm uncertain why she wouldn't let us sit there. As it wasn't reserved during the time we were there. We ordered food and drinks on the app. We ended up having to ask for our drinks as they never arrived. This felt very awkward as she already seemed frustrated at our presence. Food came without a word as we were saying thank you. Again very awkward, we had to go up and ask for side plates. From the moment we entered it felt like they wanted us to leave. I used to work at a Stonehouse in Liverpool and it was certainly a different vibe and we were never annoyed at customers for coming in!

Visit was terrible. Encouraged to use the APP to order to the table, only to be waiting an hour for food, and only being told AFTER the fact that it takes 20 minutes for the order to go from the app to the kitchen and it was quicker to order directly at the bar. Waitress who served food was rude, never took away empty plates and just shoved them aside to set more stuff down. Only got my drink 30 mins after ordering through app and I had to ask twice for it. Really gone downhill lately and your staff are very impatient and rude.

Went yesterday for lunch was amazing food delicious, pub lovely staff where so helpful and friendly, especially pretty lady called josie went above and beyond her duties made us laugh and looked after us so well thank u xx

The meals were really disappointing. Particularly served extremely cold peas. When reported.... we got an apology... and then an offer of more peas when we had already finished the meal.... Won't rush back..

Booked 3 weeks in advance for 8 of us on mother's day, was given 2 separate tables so we couldn't be together. Will definitely not book again.

Very dissapointed cold food and cheap frozen burgers! Chicken burger was too hard for my child to bite through! Bar staff very helpful an apologetic. Would not recommend even if it was free!

Visited on Christmas Eve with my nan and family. No Christmas atmosphere. No music, No Christmas table decorations. Place was empty, only about 2 other tables of unfortunate souls (who i guess, like us also booked too late to get a spot at Toby's) during our entire visit. I now realise why it was the only place with ALL spots available to book 2 weeks before christmas (I will be more organised next year and get a spot elsewhere).Food was mostly edible but not really very nice, nor did it look appealing (carvery looked like it had been sat there a week, most likely had seen as there was no other customers). The kids pizza were terrible looking and tasting too, so they got left. My nan was not amused at all the entire time, and she let us know it. The yorkshire puddings had a weird taste that i can only describe as being like wet dog. Upon entering there was no one there to greet us so we found our table (and the rest of our family) ourselves. Didnt really see any other staff after that except when ordering at the bar and when they brought out the kids pizza (which im fairly sure they giggled at how bad they looked but still served them anyways). I now understand the sympathetic looks i got whenever i mentioned to people where we were going for Christmas eve to eat beforehand and the giggles i get since when telling people how it went. I wouldnt return. Absolutely awful.

We went on Friday, for a pizza, we had no expectations as what can go wrong with pizza! We ordered pepperoni feast and a margarita. The pepperoni feast had one piece of pepperoni per segment. The margarita came some time later and was covered with barbecue sauce. By the time it was redone my husband had well finished his. The waitress told us it was because it was a new chef!! (Quite concerning, if they can't get basic pizza right) No apology either!!

This is meant to be a pizzeria but my son's Margeritta took more than half an hour to be served. The staff to their credit were apologetic.

Went yesterday for Christmas Dinner for 4 people. We paid £200 and it was nowhere near worth the money. As soon as we arrived the blonde woman at the booking desk greeted us like we were a hindrance. We were not shown to our table just pointed to the area and had to find our own table. The poor bar person was on her own with a bar full of customers to serve. We had to go find out where our pre-ordered starters were after 30 minutes. After finishing our starters we went to collect our mains from the carvery. Then, we retirned to the table which still had our starter plates on that we then had to remove ourselves. No Christmas music was played throughout dinner so there was no atmosphere. All of a sudden 3 or 4 staff descended upon our table to bring out desserts as it was soon closing time. This was the most staff we'd seen in the whole time we'd been there. We don't blame the staff at all, it is down to management not putting enough staff on on the day and not planning for people to have an enjoyable Christmas dinner. The only saving grace was that the food was nice.

Cavery was terrible hair in cranberry sauce coating over gravy because it hadn’t been stirred cold roast potatoes then others at table waiting over a hour for a pizza and burger chips came half an hour after pizza table who came after us got food before us waiter was rude walked away before I could finish talking to her then handed me a hot plate witch burnt my hand will not be visiting again

Had a lovely meal out with all the family definitely be back again, staff are great especially Emma she made our day, she’s so kind and helpful.

It was awful, extremely limited menu just burger or pizza and no kids meals at all. The staff ignored us and when we spilt a drink which he clearly heard he ignored it while on the phone taking a personal call. My daughter was crying because she thought she was in trouble and we'd taken her out for a special meal to celebrate. We drank our drinks a left and not a word was said to us as we left. The rudest and most disgusting restaurant experience I've ever had.

Came with my family last week for a Sunday roast and the food was delicious. The staff are so lovely and helpful and can not do enough for you.

Came for karaoke with some of my family, we had a ball. Definitely recommend karaoke Fridays 🥰 Have also been for food and drinks, burgers and carvery are lovely.

I only usually come here for a carvery, and it’s always SO hit or miss…last time I came a few months ago with my sister it was genuinly the nicest carvery I’d ever had, everything was fresh and the potatoes were some of the best I’ve ever had….but my most recent visit was awful, the meat was great however, not even exaggerating, every single vegetable option was completely dried out. The cabbage literally crumbled when I tried to scoop some, the carrots were ok but the yorkshires, green beans etc had become inedible, it was so disappointing, but I didn’t wanna have to ask them to literally replace every single side…eventhough they should be staying on top of that anyway? I’d say walk in and check the carvery section before you order it, although I don’t think that’s a good sign of a reliable carvery, they just need to keep on top of replacing the items regularly and it would be perfect! oh also if you order table service food you might be waiting a while, I’ve noticed a lot of the waiters usually just like to stand there chatting to eachother behind the bar when it’s not too busy and I think they all expect eachother to just sort the orders out, which ends in no one sorting it out, literally waited an hour for a sticky toffee pudding last time I came and the only reason I waited so long was because I forgot I ordered it after 30 mins of waiting and apparently the staff had too! Ps. me and my sister were the only people eating in there other than a family of 4. I do still come here from time to time don’t get me wrong but i just wanted to give honest feedback on ways to improve a bit, but look at the other reviews it seems the same problems keep getting brought up and nothing is getting done about them…..

Waited for a hour and a half only to be told that they couldn’t cook a fish and if we wanted to change our order. We’d already changed the order as they couldn’t do gammon eggs and chips. It’s now a good job that we never booked for our Christmas dinner.

Charlie is one of the loveliest bar staff always goes above and beyond needs to be more people like Charlie in here made my experience well better

Went to the mons this afternoon.13th oct.with my two friends Lovely food. Very pleasant and socialable staff. Had a lovely afternoon

1st visit here and won't be returning. went for the carvery qd for 10 mins to be served once at hatch the only meat available was a bit of dried up pork or turkey? on to veg...no stuffing,carrots,mashed potato and roasties was told I would have to wait another 10mins for the roasties and 15mins for stuffing roasties did eventually come out but we're not cooked through. we returned our food for a refund with quite a few others as well. the manager told us that they had been very busy and hadn't cooked enough and we were lucky we got this far. won't be going back

The food was delicious, but the flies ate more of it than I did. Shame

Went for breakfast.... buffet style ... plenty of choice ... freshly cooked and had the right temp .... server was polite n attentative .. Defo go bk again ...

The order was a large with 3 meats.... But they only had one meat which was very chewy and needed to be cooked for longer... And when I finally sat down to eat it there were kids running around the place.. I felt like I was in the wacky warehouse 😂😂 not amused.. I will be going to weatherspoons next time

We visited and there was 2 people eating a roast and no one else in the restaurant. We ordered food, it took 40 mins to come, when it arrived the chips on all meals were stone cold, my burger was missing the sauce, onion rings and hash brown. There was no fish because it wasn’t defrosted. My girlfriend took our daughter the toilet where there was poo on the floor with toilet paper with poo on it. Absolute disgusting.

Was visiting with family on Sunday and found this little gem! Staff were fantastic, food was brilliant & the atmosphere was perfect! Will definitely recommend to other friends :-)

The scruff on the till had an attitude, could not be bothered to take my order then when i asked if he was serving he roared just wait!! i then tried to order a carvery only to be screeched at that they wont be serving carverys on mon-thurs i asked why and he screeched again cos were not!! he looked like he hadnt been washed in a month the crank, plus it's a hovel in there!!

There is a lack of staff at the Mons and has been like this for over a year now..This time there was only 2 guys on but by the end of our stay..1 guy had gone and there was just one guy doing all jobs.. He was making desserts, doing drinks..He done his best but it was too much for 1 person.. Only a choice of burger and pizzas too as short staffed.. The mons was always a handy choice for us location wise and there was always plenty to chose from on the menu and a fresh carvery/Breakfast. .We were all were hoping for carvery but we were limited to just 2 options.. The lack of staff and food options, there was barely anyone in there..I hope this establishment doesn't have to close..I've been coming here since i was in my 20s.. There needs to be new staff brought in and maybe new management, to keep this place thriving..

Called at 7pm on a Friday and there was no carvery available. This being a carvery outlet. Staff more interested in talking than serving and I had to clean my own table. Place was quiet.

Visited on several occasions. Breakfasts are lovely and I'd highly recommend them, but carveries are just okay. Staff are really friendly and welcoming.

Went there for mother's day had a beautiful carvery my husband had scampi and we both agreed it was the best pub meal we had in a long time.
