Drove passed this place meny times actual went in today. As a garden centre goes it felt local, not part of a chain. Which made the visit more enjoyable. Was looking for a specific product, the, staff was very keyed up and very helpful. Got what i wanted. Thankyou will call again for sure.

I came in on Tuesday the 20th of May with my wife. She brought me out for lunch for my birthday. My wife ordered the steak and ale pie and I got a smashed burger with potato wedges. The food came and my first thing I saw was potato wedges that were blackie- brown. My partner had cut into her pie and saw it was chicken so they said they would change it and the woman shot off before I could tell her about my potato's . I began to eat my burger that had no taste at all, I mean NO flavor. They must have run out of herbs and spices on this day. Funny for a place that sells herbs and spices. I turned the burger upside down to fix the tomato and lettuce that were sliding off and after maybe 45 seconds the top of my bun had so much grease in it that it fell apart. I wanted to wait to speak to our server but she was on a quest for a steak and ale pie. The manager was tied up helping a lady that I think had a touch of heat stroke. So after about ten minutes I ate the burger. God as my witness I have never had any food in my mouth more oilier. It fell apart in my hands before I could eat it. I felt like a dog picking up fallen hunks of greasy meat. The table spoon of coleslaw I was given was good but to little, So tried the potato wedges. I figured I have eaten the horrible burger they couldn't be any worst. WRONG! Burnt dirty grease soak garbage. Thy cooked them in dirty filthy oil then cooked them for a few more days I believe. The girl finally returns with my partners Pie. She cut into it and it was so dry there was no gravy inside. Again so over cooked. The vegetables again no spice no flavor and the mashed may partner said were instant mix crap. My plate had at least a tea spoon of oil on it and I felt a little sick. But being my birthday meal I didn't want to complain. Or cause a seen when the manager that was tied up with the heat stroke lady. We left feeling very ripped off. £ 40.00 pounds for food that bad should be illegal who thought £3.40 for a tin of Coke zero was a fare price? I felt really bad for my partner as we were trying to have a nice day and this destroyed it. We took the ten plants we had and paid and left. I wanted to get more plants but we both were not feeling well so we just left. Your manager and cooks should be a little ashamed. Maybe you should hire a chef. I will be calling to speak to the owner or store manager.

This is the third afternoon tea we have had here in the last couple of years and I’m afraid to say the standard continues to decline. On arriving, we noticed that they no longer put a tablecloth on the tables to make it feel a bit more special. The portions of food have definitely decreased and, unfortunately, the scones are now so small that they were even drier and staler than the last time we came. We had a job to open the scones with the knives provided and I can only think they’d been on display for at least a couple of days. In addition, apart from when we arrived, service was poor and we had to keep getting up and find a member of staff to ask for more tea or milk. We were totally ignored. Sadly, we shall certainly not be going back there and would not recommend it to anyone else. With regard to the response from Monkton Elm, we DID raise the matter of the dry, stale scones with a waitress at the time and she said she would tell the manager but we heard no more. Nobody came to talk to us which is really poor customer service. However, one of the main problems was finding any member of staff to actually talk to - instead of them coming to us to ask if we wanted anything else, we had to get up and try and find somebody and this happened several times.

This place has a fancy new restaurant but it's designed for people with plenty of time on their hands and not single. You need a table number to place your order at the counter: so you'd better reserve your seat somehow. Then you order and pay. And they bring the stuff to your table. At 3.30pm on a Tuesday, it took 17 mins for my tea and flapjack to arrive! The place didn't appear very busy. That's time lost which could have been used to entice me to spend money in the shop. It's bad business.

We decided to visit as it has the title of the best garden centre in Wales and the west. Erm, okay. We were decidedly underwhelmed. It was rather narrow in the aisles between displays for people with trolleys, walkers or scooters. The usual over priced garden centre type fair. They do have some amazing garden figures and ornaments, but sadly out of my price range.
