Moninna's in South Holland

I booked a table on the 26th January for the 12th of February. I had confirmation email by the 28th of January for my booking. Friday 11th February I had a reminder email about my booking it also says they are looking forward to meeting us. Today I get an email saying they are cancelling my booking and they have been tried to contact me. Rubbish no other emails and no phone calls. I spoke to two mangers both very unprofessional one kept calling me darling the other didn't care that they had ruin my weekend with friends that were travelling 3 hours to join us for what we hoped was a lovely meal. I was told the booking shouldn't of been taken as they have a private event. When I questioned them about still advertising valentines weekend I was told it was just for Sunday and Monday. But on there website and menu it clearly states Friday to Monday valentines special. I wouldn't go here now if they paid me and judging by other reviews we have had a lucky escape. I now have a table booked at a different restaurant The Crystal Inn I have eaten there before staff management and food 5 star.

Thought I'd give the place a try. Myself and a couple of family members went for lunch. We entered the Cafe and sat down. The place was empty and there wasn't any staff about. We actually wondered if it was closed. 5 minutes passed and still no one. I then went upstairs to and found a member of staff on her phone, Who told me that she was on her own, busy, and would be with me soon. There was one table of customers in the restaurant. Didn't seem busy. When she finally came down we tried to order a couple of sharing platters, only to be told she didn't have them, nor our second choice either. I then tried to order the drinks to be again told that they didn't have them either. We decided to leave as it all felt unorganised and unprofessional. It does make you wonder why the place was practically empty. We went to prezzo's and had a lovely lunch instead. Wouldn't recommend or go back.

The Good - The garlic bread was nice. They made a mistake with our order and bought us an extra portion of house fries. The Bad - There were 13 of us and not many others in the restaurant. The starters were slow and they missed one off the order so one member of our group got theirs after the rest had either finished or had nearly finished. One of the starters was beef and pork polpette (meatballs) which were really hard and tough. So much so one of them couldn't be cut or even be picked up using a fork. The main courses were also slow to come out with half of our group being half way through them before the rest came out. Most of the order came out barely warm with little or no flavour. Even my pizza was lacking in flavour. A friend sent his calzone back because it was cold, they said they will warm it up and when it came back it was even colder. Overall - Poor and would not go back.

We has the antipasti and meatballs starter, both excellent, huge portion on the antipasti. For mains we had the King prawn and nduja pizza and calzone with special house fries-all of the food was fresh and delicious! Our first vist and we will definately return!
