Moli in Shropshire

Wow. Unbelievable food! We visited Shrewsbury for the weekend and had heard about the indoor market. We stumbled upon Moli and got a table for 2. The food was incredible. The menu is quite limited but that doesn’t matter. The mixed dumplings were superb. The meatballs amazing and the cucumber salad was so flavourful. I could have eaten the same meal all over again. We are back in Shrewsbury later on in the year and will definitely be returning.

Last year I visited Shrewsbury and was standing on the upper level of the market watching the people enjoying their dumplings at Moli. The smell was so intoxicating I decided there and then to move here! No regrets. Best dumplings ever.

Deliciously tasty lunch. I loved the vegan dumplings; my mum thoroughly enjoyed the meat dumplings and we thought the accompanying dipping sauce had exactly the right chilli heat. Accompanied by a peanut slaw, so fresh and zingy. We haven’t been here before as it always busy and I’m not usually keen on waiting for a table, however I’ll make an exception to eat here again; it would be well worth any wait necessary.

Wonderful place with really authentic tasty food. We had an amazing lunch with dumplings, tea and meatballs. All really fresh. Staff were friendly and attentive. A little pricey but dumplings are time consuming to prepare. The perfect spot for lunch 😊

Absolutely love this place! The whole market hall is awesome and such a gem in the town but this place is amazing! The service was excellent and the ladies were super friendly, the food came very quickly and everything was piping hot and fresh. I would recommend this place for a quick lunch for a date or catchup with friends.

Arrived without a booking and was given a beeper to tell us when a table was ready so we could explore the rest of the market. After being seated and deciding on what we would have, a very polite and friendly waitress came and took our orders and also asked if we would like water which was appreciated. The tea we ordered was real tea leaf and they provided free hot water tops ups for the tea pots. I tried the pork and vegetable spring rolls to start which came with sweet chilli and were deliciously savoury. I then shared a set of beef and prawn dumplings as well as the meat dumpling platter with my mum. After trying 4 different flavours each one incredibly tasty I would recommend them all although the beef an prawn were my favourite. Chatted with the owner and it is apparent they have put a lot of love and care into the business and the authenticity of the food. The greatest accolade however was that my mum has still not stopped commenting about how great the food was.

This is my favourite place for lunch and one of the highlights of my visits to Shrewsbury. The staff are lovely and the food is amazing.

This is my absolute favourite spot in Shrewsbury for lunch. The dumplings are fantastic, especially when paired with the Chinese tea and the chicken wings might possibly be my favourite food to eat, zingy and crispy! We have walked past Moli so many times and mainly because of my dislike of Chinese food, we have never stopped. How wrong have i been all those years. As we walked past on Saturday, the aroma's, the bustling environment, suddenly tugged at me. My wife said come on lets give it a go. Well I have to say it will now be my number one go to in the Shrewsbury Market food space and up there in the whole of Shrewsbury. We sampled Seafood dumplings, chicken wings, spring rolls and spicy lamb balls, with wine and a beer. I could honestly not find fault with anything. The food was 100%, the staff, each and everyone of them, were very attentive and the cost, less than £50 was amazing value. Be back soon.....

Been coming to Shrewsbury for years, love the market, eaten at a few places but never Moli. Oh my goodness why did we wait so long! Everything is freshly cooked so there is about a 15/20 minute wait but boy was it worth it. We started off with the crackers an sweet chilli dip followed by the seafood platter of dumplings. They were delicious. I would go as far to say that they were better than the Japanese restaurant in the town. Will definitely be back.

I run my skin clinic few steps away from Moli's and every time I have an opportunity, I pop out there for my lunch. The most amazing beef&prawn dumplings I have ever had and definitely the best in UK. It's nothing like cheap, frozen deep fried, unhealthy take aways. They remind me more of Georgian khinkali, juicy and full of flavour, but lighter.

Great little food court in the bustling downtown market in Shrewsbury. Moli is the pick of the bunch. Friendly staff, great ambiance of a trendy diverse food court. Fresh ingredients, intelligent use of herbs and spices. I've tried many "Dumplings" on my travels and would make these the best I've had. I'd try the 3 dumpling platters, Meat, Seafood and vegetarian with tangy dipping sauce to give you a taste of this little gem. Compliment it off with a fresh Oolong tea. Can't wait to go back again.

This spot is a personal favourite of our family’s and we had an incredible lunch as always - the dipping sauce is incredible and addictive and the dumplings were soft and juicy and flavourful. We also really loved the pork spring rolls- they were so crispy. 100% recommend as always

Some of the most incredible dumplings I’ve ever eaten. We had the vegan selection (a revelation) and the meat selection (crispy and steamed perfectly). The schezwan dipping sauce was just hot enough and the sweet and sour cucumber salad was moreish but refreshing. Authentic, freshly cooked, and tasty dumplings. Szechuan Sauce was flavorful but not too spicy, pairing perfectly with the food. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and were more than happy to give recommendations and suggestions for other places to visit in Shrewsbury and the market.

Nice niche place, easy to find in the market. Unfortunately, we were served six soggy at the bottom and stale at the top dumplings for £9.50. The servers forgot about us. We only ordered one plate of dumplings and there were only two other tables, so no real excuse. The lady who served us dropped the plate off saying we got there at the end. Which is just terrible.

Food was pleasant, if on the expensive side for what you got. £10.95 for 6 small dumplings, three miniature vegetable spring rolls cost £6.95 and four small meatballs were also £6.95. The chicken wings were a little better as you got six of those for £6.95 but of course, there was hardly any meat on them. Our meal wasn't at all filling and we left hungry. They need to offer rice and/or noodles as a side option.

Nice Dim Sum but all tastes the same, it also is very expensive, especially for a basic little market stall. Bit like the rest of the market, more expensive than Waitrose ffs.

My dad and I came in today and the food is just incredibly! We had the vegan and seafood dumplings which were absolute perfection! The tea was also so lovely. The staff were great and the restaurant and food have such authenticity! Will definitely be coming back for more!

Genuine Chinese dim sum, really delicious and very reasonably priced. Lovely jasmine tea with real jasmine flowers. You can see them making the dumplings in the kitchen next to the seating area.

Nice atmosphere, nice people and delicious food. Be prepared to pay a fair amount for what you get, but we found it worth the cost and very refreshing!

First visit to this eatery. I loved the tea I had, Golden Monkey. We shared the 6 meat dumplings, which made a very light lunch. You could taste the difference between each of the different flavours but it was the dipping sauce that made it.

Don't think that just cause this place is in the market hall that it is not worthy of 5 stars, as you could not be further from reality. Amazing food, with such wonderful flavour, the service was perfection too. You can not fault this place.

We absolutely love this tea house, a great selection of Chinese tea, the best dumplings (the seafood platter is my favourite), always friendly service, worth waiting if there’s a queue but they’ve got more tables recently. It’s our favourite go to lunch spot!

I’ve heard about this tea-house but have never visited before. We came around 3pm for tea and dumplings which were delicious, I particularly enjoyed my chrysanthemum tea. Service was quick, the chef (Emily) cooked our food and served it within minutes.

Lovely place to try out inside Shrewsbury market. It can get busy but it doesn't actually feel as cramped as it looks once you are sat Big selection of teas and lots of variety of dishes to pick from. They will certainly take your taste buds on a ride! The food is punchy and well flavoured, from lime to basil to fish sauce to Chile, everything packs a serious wallop Stop off if you fancy something not too heavy but powerful!

Some of the best dumplings I've had in the country. Shrewsbury Market is always swamped but Moli is underrated, there should be queues around the corner!! Amazing dumplings, great side dishes, brilliant tea (with a lovely variety) and very friendly staff. Do recommend you tip because this is really good food, all freshly made in about 15 minutes. Having lived in China for over 4 years it was great to stumble upon Moli. Dumplings or Jiao Zi were one of my favourites & its fair to say they are pretty good. Great location/setting too, could be back in China!!!

I’m addicted. Probably the best I’ve had, and I’ve had a hella lot all over the world. Cant believe Shrewsbury has this place, excellent food and fantastic staff.

This was the 5th time I’ve been to Moli’s upstairs in the indoor market in Shrewsbury. Each visit seems to get better & never disappoints. The dumplings are made fresh , you can see them making it & they tell you it will take 15mins because they’re freshly made. Lots of varieties. Me & my daughter (this time) has the special of 3 different meat ones, 3 different fish & 3 different veg ones. They come with chopped spring onions, peppers & seeds sprinkled on top. We also ordered the pickled vegetable accompaniments & pickled cucumber sticks. They were all delicious. Well worth the visit & really good value. I’ll be back soon.

We had meat seafood and vegan specials when we went here. Yo is brilliant ask her if you are unsure about anything. We had everything shown on the black board and cucumber salad and Kim chi. Also yasmin tea.

On a July 26 coach tour to Shrewsbury we found Moli in the covered market. We had less than an hour to return to our pickup point, but had a wonderful meal--dividing an order of Peking style dumplings between us--with beer for my partner and jasmine tea for me. The service was friendly, sympathetic to our short time to visit, and the dumplings were great. Enjoyed the market atmosphere, too, sitting across from a pet-food emporium that reminded me of Chinese medicine shop. (I knew it wasn't when I read a label offering 'postman's leg'.) We've lived in SE Asia and eaten many dumplings--including those served at a Xi'an restaurant boasting 28 different kinds--but Moli puts most of them to shame. I admired the beautiful clear glass filtered teapots and will get one on my next visit.

After having been recommended this venue , I walked in and tried some Chinese dumplings and Chinese tea . I opted for the Beijing classic which has a filling of finely ground pork , cabbage , spring onions , fresh ginger and toasted sesame . It takes a while for the dumplings to be freshly cooked but the wait is well worth it , it gives you time to mix your own sauce from the choices on the table which includes chilli sauce with peanuts , garlic , sugar , Chinese pepper soya sauce and rice vinegar. I ordered green bamboo tea which I absolutely love . My meal duly arrived (see photo) , it was divine . I thoroughly recommend Moli in the market . You can see the dumplings being made by a highly skilled team .

Wandering through the brilliant market we found this amazing gem. Amazing service, happy and polite staff. Food was exceptional. Everything was explained about the food as we hadn't eaten here before.

Moli is in the Shrewsbury market hall, it is a small restaurant in the food court area. We arrived and all the tables were taken, we made a reservation for 30mins and strolled round the market. The wait was worth every minute, we shared the meat special and a couple of half portions on the set menu. Our favourite was the beef and prawn on the set menu. They are cooked fresh to order (takes about 15mins) and you make up your own dipping sauce. A great experience and a delicious lunch.

My friend and I went to Moli for lunch and between us,we ordered a medium serving of Beijing dumplings (pork, ginger, spring onions etc) and a pot of green tea for two.Service for the tea was less than five minutes and dumplings less than fifteen, we were given bowls to mix our own dipping sauce. The dumplings themselves were phenomenal. The serving had us both very full by the end with just 2.5 dumplings each. My friend had not had dumplings before and the chef showed her what they were like and it was this kind of incredible, caring service that really sold the place to us. We also felt that we were treated no different as teen-agers than any adult would be. The whole experience was genuinely lovely and i would recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially if you want more authentic tastes.

Moli is tucked away at one end of the market, turn left through main doors. Find a table and take a look at the menu. We had a lovely service from both front of house ladies.

This little place is a real gem. The dumplings are made on the spot and presented with a tray of "make your own" dipping sauce. They tasted amazing alongside a bowl of oolong tea (all for £5.00)

My wife and I ate here on a Saturday lunchtime. I have walked passed on numerous occasions and often hesitated to stop and eat as was unsure about trying Chinese Dumplings. I must say that the food is some of the most flavoursome food that I have ever eaten. The service and ambience was also fantastic. A must try if you are visiting Shrewsbury and venture to the indoor market. We will definitely be returning again.

Small but bustling place in a corner in the indoor market. Limited dumpling menu but delicious nonetheless. The tea menu was greater and just a good. You make your own dipping sauces, the heat to your taste and the dumplings come in various amounts. Highly recommended and a place we go to each time we visit.

We were in Shrewsbury looking for a place with vegan food and found Moli by searching online. It was one of several food outlets in Shrewsbury indoor market. The dumplings we ordered were inexpensive and served quickly with a variety of teas on offer. The flavours were delicious and we were able to make up our own dipping sauce. Vegans and non-vegans were pleased with their food and we shall certainly go there again.

When we arrived slightly early the owner was very rude. Asked us not to sit down and come back. We went back but could not find a seat so sat in a communal area and ordered takeout.

I had travelled to Shrewsbury on the train to briefly visit relatives , for my return I had just under an hour until my return train so went in search of lunch . Being near to Shrewsbury market Hall , I remembered there was street food available from several outlets so up I went into the hall . The first hot food stall I saw was Moli , a Chinese food vendor , I saw dumplings on the menu so sat down and ordered Pumpkin & sweet potato dumplings (spicy) . Customers can mix their own dipping sauce from the ingredients on the table , I mixed garlic with soy sauce , vinegar and chilli pepper , it was gorgeous . The waitress had told me that everything was cooked freshly , just like Hong Kong street food vendors , in reality my meal arrived in about half that time . You can order small , medium or large portions , I went for medium which was ideal for me . The dumplings were top notch , beautiful and ultra fresh , I was well impressed and will certainly return , I couldn't wait to tell friends about my gorgeous lunch , always a good sign of great food . To drink , I opted for green tea with bamboo , again delicious and all for under a tenner . Bargain , I'm looking forward to a return visit , give it a try , you will not be disappointed.

What an unusual and interesting choice for lunch! Not my usual fare... The dumplings were freshly prepared and tasty. Not sure I got the hang of making the dip myself. I found the flavours almost overpowering, but only due to my untrained palate. Will definitely return for more quality dumplings.

Moli is a small Chinese street food stall in Shrewsbury Market Hall, they specialise in homemade dumplings served with dipping sauce that you make your self with all the ingredients brought to your table.

My husband and I visited this great place after reading reviews on here and we definitely wasn't disappointed its a great idea of a selection of made to order dumplings and you make your own dipping sauce to your liking from the ingredients on the table the staff were very friendly and helpful it was definitely worth the visit we will be back
