Molesey Fish Bar in Elmbridge

The only fish n chip shop to match this was in Richmond which has sadly closed down so Molesey fish bar now reigns supreme! I really want to take my Mum here as she has been in mourning since Richmond closed but sadly there’s no dining in service.

Google little find for a lunch stop. Had the small Fish, chips and peas for £6 lunch special. Freshly cooked. Looks a lot bigger then a small but who’s complaining. Thank you

I have been eating from Molesey Fish Bar for just under a year now and it is genuinely the most amazing fish and chip bar I have ever had the pleasure from eating from. The customer care and environment is inviting and pleasant, everyone always has a smile. The food is consistently amazing, from the fish to the kebabs. I will never have anything bad to say about this business.

I rarely write negative comments, but I’m afraid I feel obliged to write this one because of the high score despite the terrible food here. I got fish and chips, and the smell of both chips and the fish was unbearable… Strangely, the fish and its batter smelled like very poor quality burger meat. I had to suspect that they fry the hamburgers in the same oil or something like that. Obviously, the oil they use was weeks (maybe months) old, it was burned and it stank. If you’re like me, and you care about the taste of what you eat, avoid this one. In fact, as a rule of thumb, one should avoid any fish and chips restaurant that also serves doner.

Not sure its what is used to be. Hadn’t been back for a few years, so it may have had a change in ownership or management. Its certainly not what we remembered it to be like. The fish had the skin left on and was very oily, batter was not as good. Was almost like a tempura batter, rather then a normal fish or beer batter. Chips in general had a funny taste. The nice tradition which has always been on offer to give complimentary prawns and bread and butter, which is a lovely touch. The condiments trolley is wheeled next to the table to offer fresh tartar sauce, sliced gherkins, sauces, vinegars. I have never had a dessert there. But one of the party had spotted dick and custard, portion was huge! Definitely enough for 2!

I love this place.... I love the food and the way they work in harmony behind the counter with so many orders coming in.... I love how they haven't changed the decor for decades. It's a reminder of how good things were... Please don't change a thing! Oh and the food is amazing which is a bonus :))

Great fish and chips,the only downside is they are always soo busy and there is waiting time even if you order collection. It's worth it, though.

This is the best fish and chip shop in town I can feed 5 people on 21 pound the pies are lush the chips soft not greasy just so nice salad is perfect for side my two boys have a burger chips in bun with cheese £3 you can't go wrong would never go to another fish and chip shop and if you order online they get in ready no waiting give you a time wish I could give 10 stars thank you molesey fish bar 🥇 still 5 star but there new system to order food is so bad I had to go to different chip shop and Internet would not work and no one would pick up phone

All ways the best fish and chip

Nothing special just standard fish and chips but I did find it to be very greasy were you can really taste the oil. I was also disappointed to see after that they have a low 2 star food hygiene rating (improvement necessary) inspected in June this year , I think they should be getting a better score than this!!!!

The front of the shop looks old and shabby but the fish and chips are great. Order online and pick up is best.

Absolutely the worst restaurant for customer service. You order anything online and expect to wait 4 hours. They never update their customers on where their food is and is absolutely shamboloc carefree attitude of staff.

Food is fantastic, working across the road on a refurb of the local pub and just could not believe how many people kept going into the chip shop and now I know why! Chips honestly brilliant as good as chips from Great Yarmouth chip stalls. Very pleasant staff and they use beef dripping, what more do you need? Thank you

In my humble opinion it's the best chip shop in the country. Always had good service they are always up for a quick chat doesn't matter how busy they are. Best chips for miles around.

Molesey fish bar what can you say about them? They know everyone’s face, orders, always say hi, never get it wrong and it’s always consistent. FYI best kebab around for starters.

Outstanding Haddock and Chips, haven’t been for ages and our other favourite chippy currently closed and this was just so good. Fish was amazing, beautifully cooked with delicious batter and lovely flakes of haddock and amazing chips as well, could not fault it and will definitely be back despite it being a wee bit of a drive from Walton

I'd always make a detour to this place as the best in a wide area. Chips always perfect, cod roe available (which is a sine qua non of a quality chip shop). Using the app i accidentally ordered twice. They'd prepared twice but were happy to use the spare for staff meals - that's the sort of care that keeps customers coming back

Great food and lovely people. I moved into the area a year ago and have tried a few food places locally as there is plenty of choice. But this place is the only one I keep coming back to. Everything they cook is beautifully done. It's worth joining a queue on busy days. Enjoy

I have been going to the Molesey Fish bar for nearly 50 years. As far as I`m concerned its the best Fish & Chip shop I have ever used. The food is perfect & I always look forward to it. Thank you to all the staff!

Cab’t praise this place enough Superb fish. On the first occasion chips were a bit soggy but after explaining this on the next visit, the owner fried agiain to make my chips crisper - just the way i like them. Perfect. By two Brothers. The younger one takes the orders. He’s a gentleman.. Great value too! lunchtime menu is small fish and small chips plus bit of mushy peas. £6 What’s not to like?!

I have gone to this chippie whenever I have been back in Molesey. Still great fish and chips and has been around for decades.

I know the pressure is always on to get the chips out, but please please try and get them crispy, or start pre-cooking the chips and then re-frying? Double cooked chips are the crispy new world of chips.

They state that the chicken is cooked on a rottiserie or spit roast, but it is actually more like a chicken cooked in a regular oven than the supermarket rottiserie ones are, so the fact that it is spit roasted doesn't seem to really make a difference, but the chicken is ok

Lots of lovely food served by freindly people

This place used to be excellent. Now it is awful. They are just rude and it’s impossible to get served unless you’ve placed your order online. Stood in the queue for 20 mins without even eye contact or acknowledgement we were there. Queue didn’t move, as staff only care about online orders. Walk-in’s are invisible to them. Rude doesn’t even sum up their appalling attitude. We watched another 2 customers walk out furious too.

I have been using Molesey fish bar for over thirty years and they have never let me down when I recommend them to others.

Best fish and chips around. Since covid I have been ordering via the website or app. This is great as they give you a pick up time. At busy times you may wait up to 10 minutes but better than what could sometimes be 45 minutes in a queue pre covid.

Best fish, chips, kebab! You name it they have it and it’s amazing! You can always tell how amazing a places food is when the customers outside are happily waiting! This is how the place looks most weekends! You don’t mind waiting that little extra for incredible food! Also the staff are super nice, they have hundreds of customers a day but will never forget the regulars orders!

Used to always go to Superfish having originally tried Molesey Fish Bar and not enjoying it but I gave it a second chance and I'm pleased I did. Great food, ample portions, just what a chippy should be. A little tip, phone your order in as it can get VERY busy.

Massive lovely kebab with really fresh salad and lovely pitta good selection of choices, the chips were very yummy and my daughter always enjoys her chicken nuggets. Great prices and very quick to order online and always friendly service. Will get a pic of the kebab next time before I scoff it 😃

Good fish and chip shop. Cannot fault them so far for their service. Only reason I can't give 5 stars is that I find some of the food can be a little bit too greasy for my liking

Used to use many years ago but stopped as we used to find it bit greasy BUT started using again few months ago and now use quite regularly again. Quality of the fish and portion sizes and friendly service make this our current go to. And rarely even a mark left on the wrapping paper . Soooooo good. The order on line website also works very well

Growing up with this establishment being the local fish and chips. What a disappointment to have moved anywhere else. Definitely pop back when I can for the best food around.

The food is all freshly cooked and the customer service is great. Could not recommend more! :) The batter on the fish was crispy and golden, and the chips were cooked in beef dripping- huge portion sizes Haven't had a meal like this in a while. Great value for money!

Not sure whats happened to a brilliant chip shop, been going for years and years. Havnt been for 18months due to covid and was really looking forward to it. Today part of my order was missing and the chicken meat was foul, tasted and smelt like tuna. Chips were very greasy too. What a big shame. The burger butties didn't go down too well either.

Went about about a year ago on recommendation from friends and it was amazing, beautiful chips and the fish just flaked in big chunks and the batter was crispey, today unfortunatly was the complete opposite, greasy chips and soggy batter, we ordered online and collected it ontime. Shame, wont be going back after that poor excuse for fish and chips

Great service, great fish & chips. We had a large order . I E mailed over I got a swift reply suggesting I called through which I did. On collection our order was all boxed up at the agreed time ready to go. Could not fault.

I use this fish bar most Fridays and the only negative is the fact they do no do home deliveries, its not a problem normally to pop up and collect but on the odd occasion when I have taken a drink it would be nice to have home delivery available.

Best fish and chips around! Effortlessly authentic, golden chips and fresh fish makes a big difference to the taste and juiciness. Sad to see they have closed temporarily... not for too long I hope! Worth the extra wait time hands down. These guys know what they're doing.

I visited molesey fish bar bought 2 fish one large chip and a sausage i had the sausage but the fish was horrible the batter was slimy an fish was mushy i was very very disappointed i would not driven so far to give away my twenty pound sorry molesey something gone terrible wrong with you fish 😱 date 4/12/20

Been going to this place since young and never been disappointed,fair priced and good quality fresh fish, but the only thing now portions are getting smaller and being served in cardboard boxes 😭... Bring back the old school paper packaging I say and with bigger portions.

Very slow to be served now. I had to wait 45min to be served and being given my order. I had to bring to there attention that a Long queues was forming in the cold and rain, and there only response was “we have a lot of online orders to do” I sent them a email pointing this out but they weren’t really that bothered about what I had to say. I said not all customers can order online and they shouldn’t neglect the ones that have to queue. VERY disappointed with them now, I think it’s time to take my custom elsewhere.
