Mojac's Restaurant in Isle of Wight

"Not been there since it changed hands" "It was really good but haven't been there since the old people left" was what we were told. Well, as a real fussy bugger about my food, let me tell you we're very pleased that we went to Mojacs tonight as it was fab! We had the scallops and the king prawns as starters, both were cooked to perfection. I was hesitate about the apple and parsnip puree that came with the scallops as thought it would be too sweet but not at all. We had the lamb chops and the pork belly (from the specials board) and again, they were both delicious and cooked fantastically well. Don't take my word for it, try it yourself as you will not be disappointed

Visited on the last night of our holiday. We both had scallops for starters and the lamb rump for mains. Both these courses and the desserts we chose were excellent. Service was good.

This was a bizarre experience. The dining area was quite small and so as family of 4 sitting at a table suitable for a couple meant that trying to fit food and drinks on was like a Jenga puzzle. The restaurant was empty for most of our visit but people were turned away as the restaurant was fully booked. The food was OK but nothing special. This felt like a new restaurant with the staff just getting used to the hospitality sector.

My partner treated me to a meal at Mojac’s and it didn’t disappoint! The whole setting was very cosy and the food was very tasty! The starters were incredible- we had the focaccia special & the burrata bruschetta. Delicious. For the mains, I had the sea bass which was cooked perfectly and my partner had the lamb chump special. For dessert we both had the chocolate millionaire tart with vanilla ice cream. Not only was it delicious but it was presented beautifully. The service was great. Izzy & Melissa were very accommodating and we were served very well. There is a wide selection of drinks also, so something for everyone. If you’re looking for a cosy atmosphere and a delicious meal for an occasion, I’d highly recommend Mojac’s restaurant!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Mojacs, the scallops were divine and the chicken dish was nicely presented and very tasty. Service was friendly and efficient and we were looked after very well. I am sad to say there is one thing that really spoiled our experience - we were given a nice little table for two in the window but, unfortunately, the view was dreadful. Almost directly outside is an old disused well which is covered with sandbags and has a rickety red safety barrier around it. The ground around it was covered in litter and cigarette ends and the whole view was dreadful. Please do not let this put you of dining at Mojacs as the food is worth a visit, just do not sit near the window.

Four of us all ordered different dishes and each arrived piping hot on an equally hot plate. Starters, mains and desert, all very tasty. Best wishes to the new owner/chef. We’ll be back for another meal. Thank you.

Great service and lovely food. We had such a wonderful night in this beautiful little restaurant. Our hostess, Issy, was excellent. Highlights included the home-made pate and the catch of the day, plaice fillets. The Irish coffees went down a storm and the cheeseboard for 2 was more than ample. There are plenty of places to eat in Cowes, but for the personal touch and delightful food, I can't recommend MOJAC's enough!

Warm welcome and delicious food, highlights were scallops, chowder and beautiful hake. The service was attentive and friendly.

Was slightly concerned when we arrived, that only two other tables were occupied at 7.30 in the evening. The table to which we had been allocated was very close to the door. When we asked if it was possible to have an alternative table, this request seemed like a gargantuan mission for the two girls serving. The owner needed to be called, but we were moved to a nicer location, eventually. The menu was compact, but perfectly varied. We both went for the scallops starter, with my wife having the sea bass main and I opted for the sirloin. The food was excellent from start to finish. The only area of concern for us was the standard of service. The two girls were pleasant enough, but seemed really lacking in confidence. Perhaps this was due to a lack of quality training? Overall though, a pleasant experience.

Very disappointed, we been here last month, we were really impressed by the menu, and the food, everything was delicious, so we decided to come back, but unfortunately we found another menu, which can be ok, but this time food was not good at all, after our dinner, reading reviews and website, we found out that the chef has changed too, we will never go back, we will not recommend it to anyone.

We have been going to Mojacs for years. On this visit we were greeted by Steph and her team instead of Helen and Mark who ran it for years., but Steph was just as welcoming. The quality of the food, wine and service remains great. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and delicious and the homemade strawberry pavlova rounded it off perfectly!

We have been going to Mojacs for 20 years and it used to be lovely. Sadly Helen and Mark have sold the business and the new owners have no idea. They own a couple of second hand clothes shops and are misguidedly using that experience to run a restaurant. The poor waitress is visibly terrified of them and they have all the charm of market traders. Not surprisingly the service is terrible. Food is also terrible, which is an achievement as most of the menu items could be bought in a petrol station. This is now the worst restaurant we have been to for a very long time. Close it down before someone gets hurt.

We took a chance on this little hidden-away restaurant in the centre of Cowes and it paid off! Just reopened after a renovation, the staff were helpful and keen to please. They were also testing new menu items so we had some wonderful complimentary offerings - and we were very fine with being guinea pigs! The portions were generous and the food was delicious - we had the seared tuna and steak, as well as sides. Recommended.

Enjoyed an excellent evening here. The food and service was excellent and the whole place had a nice atmosphere - well appointed and looked after. The bathrooms were very carefully appointed - modern, luxurious and spotlessly clean and sparking. I would highly recommend this place

An exceptional restaurant. Very friendly and competent service with staff wearing masks and asking you to sanitise hands on entering. Without a doubt the best meal we had during our week in IoW. Friendly, attentive service. A really diverse menu, not the cheapest but so refreshing to find something other than the standard burger etc menu! The food was delicious.

The first thing I would say is that you need to book. We saw a number of people turned away despite there being empty tables (clearly the owners choose how many they will serve ...this is of course totally their perogative.We sat downstairs on a table for 4. In total there we around 20 covers downstairs but there also appeared to be seating upstairs (although we saw only one couple "go up".There is a nice feel in the restaurant albeit quite "adult". I do not feel it is a place children which is backed up by the menu (more of that later).There is a full bar including too many gins to mention along with a decent wine list.The menu is very descriptive although if you are a fussy eater it could be off putting. I had a wonderful starter (advacado, bacon, lettice, anchovies and croutons in a sauce) which was delicious. The other starters were reasonable well recieved albeit the Mackrell was a huge portion.The main dishes were recieved with mixed results. The steak excellently cooked and the hake very tasty. However the deconstructed vegetable tart was very disappointing. Despite hardly any being eaten the waitress didn't ask if there was any problem. We live and learn.All dishes have various "funky" potatoes which I love but aren't to everyone's taste.Our bill (excluding tip) came to the same amount of steps at The Needles (188). See attached.On another day it might have felt good value but last night given the experience of half the party it was expensive. (Bill attached). To be fair drinks added a large amount.For the right eaters this is a great place is just didn't completely work for us. Make you own mind up don't be put off by me.

We had the best meal we have ever had at Mojac's this evening. Quality of ingredients used, created a meal that we will remember for ever. Mojac's is a small intimate restaurant family run which I recommend. Pre booking is essential. Thank you so much for our wonderful dining experience with you.

Excellent food and service. Would highly recommend. Booking is essential as they only managed to fit us in (party of 6) for an earlier sitting. This was fine and we didn’t feel rushed.

Visited this time last year when there was uncertainty over covid and social distancing. The owners are clearly careful around covid issues but clearly much more on top of things this year balancing things nicely and a good atmosphere. The food was well cooked with some interesting options and reasonable priced (fillet streak aside). I have no doubt we will visit again.

If you are considering trying this restaurant, don’t think anymore just book it, you will not be disappointed. Helen and her husband ‘The Chef’ have a perfect set up. Helen is fantastic front of house, so easy to chat to and laugh with. Then comes the food, everything was so delicious, the taste of the food erupted in your mouth. Presentation just made you want to drive in and devour every last morsel, which we did with ease.

Wow. What a fantastic restaurant. After reading all the positive reviews we had very high expectations, but Mojacs exceeded them all. Very friendly, happy waiting staff that made great cocktails and the food is simply superb. We both had the scallops with fennel and squash and they were beautifully cooked and a very generous size portion. I then chose the monkfish wrapped in Parma Ham and it was absolutely faultless, my partner went for the tuna and she loved it also. If you’re anywhere near Cowes you have to eat here, by far the best restaurant we dined in.

We came here during Cowes Week and it was really lovely - would recommend booking ahead as clearly it is a popular location for visitors and locals! The staff were great and the food was superb for a very reasonable price; also an impressive selection of Gins on offer which is never a bad thing…! Would definitely recommend and we look forward to visiting again next time we come to IOW.

Luckily we booked this restaurant to compliment our visit to Osbourne 4 weeks before. The restaurant is small and totally immaculate and very clean. The staff are well trained and attentive. I ordered the Avacado, bacon, local feta cheese, anchovies and croutons. It was a good size portion and lots of different tastes. It was so big My husband finished it off. My main was perfectly cooked duck. We were all too full for desserts. Which sadly looked wonderful. The toilet was top quality too. Shame we are on holiday and can’t make it our local restaurant. As I said in the title. Perfection

Amazing! The staff were very friendly the food was delicious. Lots of gluten free options for starters and main courses. The choice of gluten free desserts very limited but we did get the pavlova which was fantastic.

Extremely tasty food from a wide choice of tempting menu choices, very nice atmosphere, very professional and attentive staff, and Helen always achieves the perfect balance. The whole team make a difficult job seem easy and allow guests to have a thoroughly enjoyable eating, drinking and social experience.

The food and service was incredible. The waitresses were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable of the menu and the food was 5 star. Beautifully presented and the flavour was outstanding. Would definitely recommend!

This is our 3rd visit to mojacs in 3 years. We visit cowes once a year and always book. This year didn’t disappoint! I’m gluten free and I was spoilt for choice. My fig and beetroot starter followed by the tuna was outstanding, my partners crevettes followed by lamb similar. My partner also left his asthma pump on the table and they rang us and told us so we went back to pick up. Brilliant service hope to see you again next year mojacs !

We had a fabulous evening at Mojacs. Love the fact this is a family run business who are passionate about food and the dining experience. Service was great and friendly - all the staff were well trained and really helpful. The food was amazing - all three courses were top quality. One of the best meals I have eaten in a long time. Best meal in Cowes. Warm and friendly welcome, super attentive service. Food was cooked to perfection and never waited too long for a course. The lamb main course was fantastic, eaten by 3 of us. Beef tender and tasty. Monkfish was very fresh and devoured by a teenager! Would recommend to anyone.

We had a fantastic meal at Mojac’s on 3rd July during a long weekend to the Isle of Wight. The whole experience from the online booking system and hospitality, to the last mouthful was excellent. We shared a ciabatta garlic bread as a starter, the nicest we have ever had, followed by mains of Monkfish and the fish of the day. Would definitely recommend and hope to return to the Isle of Wight and will look forward to a further visit to Mojac’s.

Our first visit to Mojacs but it will not be our last! What a gem, we booked a table for 2 on Saturday night, the service was friendly and slick and the food was perfection on a plate. Great menu with plenty of choice, I ordered the monkfish and my husband chose the blade of beef, both dishes were cooked to perfection and the presentation was wonderful.Delicious desserts followed and we both agreed we had found a favourite restaurant.The atmosphere was very relaxed and the servers were charming and attentive without being intrusive.We will be returning and recommending to all our friends!

Booked this online last minute, excellently service, food and cocktails. Staff also went out of there way to sort a taxi home. First class all round . Value for money. Lovely ambience, and attentive staff.

Disappointed. Boring menu boringly cooked. Over salted fish almost inedible. The management were no better. no acknowledgement of our complaint. The manager held the door open when we left - it felt like we were being shown the street.

My wife and I recently visited Mojac's and we were not disappointed. The food, service, setting and ambience of this little gem of a restaurant was perfect and will be visited again should we ever cross the Solent again.Our food was excellent - well presented and cooked to perfection. Wonderful meal at Mojac's in Cowes . Not our first meal in this great restaurant and definitely not our last . Excellent food , fantastic service and definitely worth the trip from Sussex. We sipped Cocktails while we browsed the menu . We enjoyed Soufflé and scallops to start , followed by Seabass, Monkfish , steak and vegetarian tart for main with seasonal vegetables. Pavlova and ice cream to finish. All beautifully presented and thoroughly enjoyed. Great wine list too . Thanks to all at Mojac’s, a gem of a restaurant.

Mojacs is one of our firm favourites and they certainly didn’t disappoint tonight. In fact they have stepped it up a notch and, although it’s always been excellent, it’s even better now. We had scallops (fab) monkfish (wow) and fillet steak (awesome). Helen and Mark always make a night at Mojacs special. Already planning our next visit.

This was my wife and I first night out for dinner since the arrival of our son just over a year again. We couldn’t have have gone to a better place. A family owned and run restaurant. We wanted somewhere special to eat for my partners birthday we walked in and instantly knew we had found the right place. Classy cosy clean and good background music. The menu had a great selection making it hard to choose. Food was well presented and delicious . Cocktails and good wine menu too. Service was friendly and professional . Highly recommend. This was a breath of fresh air second night after lock down. Observed covid rules immaculately, nice staff and the food was great. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal one of which was gluten free. Owner worked really hard to deliver the product but also make everyone feel safe. Excellent
