The Seaview Hotel in Isle of Wight

Six of us had an excellent meal at the Seaview Hotel. Staff were very personable and efficient, food was well presented and delicious, atmosphere was buzzy and positive. Would definitely recommend as somewhere nice to eat.

Lovely food and great service from Megan, Gabby and team at the Seaview Hotel last night. For mains we tried two of the specials, lamb loin and cod loin which looked and tasted of summer and oh so so light the fish melted in my mouth, it was a delight! The deserts were also good. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant, can’t wait to return to try more of their dishes, new menu out soon too. Yummy!! 😋

I recently stayed at the Seaview Hotel for a few days, while on a surprise holiday to propose to my partner. I contacted the Hotel a couple of months in advance to ask whether they'd be happy to help me make some special arrangements for the day and I'll forever be glad that I did. I was helped from start to finish by Rachel, who went above and beyond to make sure that every detail of our stay, from flowers and chocolates in our room, to a bespoke 3-course vegan menu, was arranged and ready for when we arrived. Rachel checked in with third party suppliers, including florists and the local newspaper, and couldn't have done more to make us feel more welcome before and during our stay. During our stay, the whole staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we received outstanding service - honestly the best we've ever had. We dined in the Aquitania each evening, served by Dom, who was fantastic, and who made sure we had a perfect experience throughout dinner. The food was brilliant, especially the Tofu Paella, Lentil Pie and Parmigiano Gnocchi, and the vegan breakfasts each morning were the best we've had. Credit to Paul and the team at breakfast, especially for the scrambled eggs! Overall, we couldn't have had a better time at the Seaview Hotel. The experience started months ahead of our arrival, for me at least, and exceeded expectations throughout. I can't recommend this place highly enough and it goes without saying that we're already looking forward to visiting again very soon. Thank you to the all the Seaview Team! Ben & Elle.

Definitely the best Sunday Lunch on the Isle of Wight. Service excellent and the Goats Cheese Starter and the Roast Beef and Roast Pork beautifully cooked and the gravy is to die for !! Will definitely be back. Thank you for looking after us.

Quite disappointed by my Sunday lunch we waited 40mins for our meal and the restaurant was not busy, not a lot of atmosphere but the company I was with were entertaining, wouldn't rush back.

Just been for Xmas lunch with 5 friends. Food was excellent as was the service. All the staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We had drinks in cosy lounge before going into the restaurant and it was a lovely relaxed area. Will definitely go back!

We went for dinner. It’s October so heading for quiet season, but it was a bit like fawlty towers. Turned up for our 8pm reservation - they had refused to let us come at 7.30 but the restaurant was empty - go figure. We sat down and started to look at menus, and waiter comes out and says we have to order now as the kitchen was closing! Literally that minute or no food. It comes perfectly nice but the crab ramekin was not a ramekin but a tiny butter ramekin - portions have halved in size. The waiter bring the wine, has not removed the cork bit pulled it straight through the foil - says it is his first time ever serving wine - he was lovely but it was comical. Then as we are half way through main course they bring the pudding out. Everyone was too scared of head chef. Food was nice - staff were funny but it’s chaos! Don’t go expecting smooth service - it is what it is!!!!!!

Spent 11 days here in June, great hotel, amazing food, room was comfy, huge bed, staff couldn't do enough for us. Everyone so professional. Roof top pool amazing. Special thanks to Jasmine, what a lovely lady, the seaview hotel should be very proud of all their staff, they work very hard to make sure everyone is happy and enjoying their stay. I would reccomend this hotel always for anyone visiting Malta.

Seaview hotel was a very pleasant and warm surprise! We came one night to Isle of Wight as a last minute decision to disconnect from the busy London. We had really not much expectations as we didn’t do much research but we ended up having such a fantastic two days. The island itself is gorgeous, we ended up going on a 3 hour hike from seaview to Culver Down and the views and trails were simply magical. Exactly what I would expect from the countryside in the UK. The best part of this little trip was the hotel. We didn’t know what to expect but after a quick research we found Seaview Hotel and in general the comments were positive, so we went ahead and booked the last room! We arrived via hovercraft and missed the bus #8 that brings you to seaview, so we decided to walk and it ended up being the best decision as the 30 min walk was spectacular near the ocean. Once we reached the hotel, the team was already expecting us and we were welcomed with the lovely news of a complimentary upgrade. The room was spot clean, simple but with good taste and it had a lovely side view to the ocean. The bed was EXCEPTIONAL! I cant say enough things about it, best sleep I have had in a long time. We tried the food in the bar, specifically the fish and chips and they were lovely. Ask for the tartar sauce, freshly made and makes a big difference! After the hike we were running late so we called to see if they could save us some breakfast as we wouldn’t make it before the closing time. They did, and we couldn’t have been more grateful. We were starving after an early hike. All the people working there were extremely sweet and warm. We felt very welcomed and we do want to say thank you to everyone. Special shout-out to the lady dark hair who checked us in, sorry for not getting your name! Excellent stay and must if coming all this way to the island.

What a warm and welcoming hotel in a beautiful and quiet part of the island. Located a stones throw from the water you couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay. The staff are attentive and warm, the food delicious, the rooms clean and luxurious. I couldn't recommend it enough!

We organised a dinner for 23 people at the Seaview Hotel in May - a walking group from Buckinghamshire. The food and service was exceptional and the staff went out of their way to fulfill all our wishes. A lovely hotel - several of our group will be going back!

Avoid the hotel car park as the entrance is incredibly narrow

Lovely place. Bar, lounge and restaurant open to non residents. Not forgetting the legendary Crab Ramekin!

We went for lunch. I can’t comment on the rooms. The food was good. Not the hotel fault but there was a table of 15-20 that we so loud that it did make it not quite what we were hoping but nothing a hotel can do about loud groups.

The hotel has a small car park to the rear, but there is plenty of safe street parking around the area and you can pull up outside and drop your bags. There is parking on the sea front but the time is restricted. The hotel is in a popular location and just around the corner from the Old Fort and Sea View Yacht club. They are noisy but we didn't hear this from our hotel room which was on the front of the hotel. There was some noise at night for a short period of time when people were making their way home but we did have the windows open as it was hot. Our room had a sea view which was lovely (not really from the bed) (room 16 on the 2nd floor) and contained everything you need - tv/tea/coffee/biscuits/toiletries/shoe shine/iron and board/hairdryer/huge bed with lots of pillow choice. Our bed was comfortable and the room and ensuite (shower over bath) was clean. Fluffy white towels/face cloths/shower gel etc. Breakfast had a lot of choice - cereals/fruit/granola bar/pastries/juices then lots of hot - full English, eggs various ways/fish/porridge. Full English was enjoyed by hubby, I had the poached eggs and avocado one morning and porridge the next - both delicious. You also have toast and jam/marmalade and tea or coffee. Generous portions and all the staff in the bistro were happy and attentive. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment but it was being used and everyone seemed to be enjoying the food. There is a terrace outside to sit and enjoy alfresco drinks, a lovely lounge inside and a separate bar. All of the staff worked hard to make our stay a pleasant one - thank you reception team, restaurant team and house keeping. Sea View is a lovely little place on the Island - there is a great beach, smashing coastal path either to Ryde one way or Bembridge the other and a very interesting bit of "sea" with yachts, cruise ships and tankers going backwards and forwards. The view over to Spinnaker at night is beautiful. I would recommend the Seaview Hotel - yes I would. They were super helpful when I booked and BIG tip don't book your ferry over, they book for you and you receive a discounted rate. We came over from Lymington to Yarmouth with Wightlink which was excellent too!

Went for steak night Friday. Absolutely superb steak meal nice atmosphere friendly staff reasonable priced £21 for 2 people great value for money!!! Would definitely recommend 👌

Having just returned from spending a few days at the Seaview Hotel, we can't recommend it enough. The food and service were outstanding. The staff could not do enough for us. Being in a wheelchair can be challenging as it is, but Mark and team went above and beyond to make sure our stay was safe and comfortable. Our room was beautiful, fully kitted out to accommodate a wheelchair, with plenty of space and a well appointed wet room. There is also a lift up to the room. Breakfasts and dinner were delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to our next visit.

Passing Seaview Hotel, thought we would pick up some food to take back to our apartment. Friendly(ish) staff. X2 portions of Cod and chips + a coke cost £33. Even with some peas and a bit of lemon, that is day light robbery, particularly with how little food we actually received. The food tasted nice, not so greasy but tiny piece of cod and ten or so chips each. Unfortunately it was only once we got home that we saw what little food we actually received. How on Earth they can justify that little amount of food ISH shocking. We do not recommend.

Only popped in to use the public loo but also had a beverage, nice looking inside with smallish bar area, restaurant looked OK...Sat outside the front front with a pint in the sunshine..

Popped in for a drink with family whilst walking the dogs. Friendly staff and fantastic location with tons of Naval history. Well worth a visit.

Great location. Poor shambolic service. They didn't appear to be able to deal with a simple coffee order for 6 people so not sure how they manage to run a hotel and restaurant

Nicely decorated room and public areas but a bit short on soundproofing. No actual sea view but only steps away from the esplanade. Great breakfasts. Good selection of food in the evening. Tesla chargers for guests. A spot of bother with the Tesla Destination Chargers: only one of three working despite frantic resetting and power cycling (even tried resetting the car). Tesla support was lacking but hotel staff did their best. Annoying especially since we called in advance to be sure they were good after having encountered duff ones elsewhere.

Having returned from a 4 night break, the Seaview retains that charm of old, with an outstanding team of colleagues and comfortable rooms and importantly beds that are required for a short stay. The food is outstanding, especially dinner in the restaurant. Well done!

An unfortunate meal. We were asked what we wanted but hadn't been offered a menu at that point. Fish and chips originally served with fish finger sized fish. This was amended after pointing out the tiny piece of fish but no apology was made or redress in the bill. The three other meals were ok but nothing special.

Awful I didn’t have a good experience with seaview hotel and restaurant Dirty knifes on the dinner table Dirty glasses on the dinner table also Thick dust behind the bed side table Hair in the bathroom Banging Music untill 11pm Dinner was not very nice Didn’t even get a double bed that I paid for got 2 singles pushed together ended up with an even more achy back! Staff are not that helpful and didn’t seem to care! I would avoid this place as it’s not cheap and meant to be a AA rosette restaurant! Breakfast was even worse the bacon didn’t looked cooked other than the char grill marks and was cold and the egg was hard and the beans was burnt! I do not recommend!

The only complaint I can have is that the room was too hot even with thermostat turned down!! Me and my girlfriend stayed here for one night as a valentines getaway! Upon entering the hotel we were told straight away we had been upgraded to a superior room!! The room was nice enough, very clean and my girlfriend loved the fact she could have a bath and watch tv at the same time!! 🤣🤣 food was amazing my only downfall was ordering the black corset trifle which although very nice was quite rich for my palette!! The staff were very friendly and accommodating would definitely return in the future!!

We didn’t stay at the hotel but we chose this place for my husbands birthday dinner whilst on holiday in the Isle of Wight last week. It was recommended by the owners of the Airbnb we were staying in and as it was dog friendly in the pump room, we went for it. Wish we hadn’t! Overpriced, underwhelming, over rated and would not recommend. The service (as experienced in a lot of places we went to in IOW) was what I would call ‘hostile’ - clearly favoured the regulars/residents over us as potential one times/holiday makers. I ordered the seafood bouillabaisse and was so disappointed. The amount of seafood was shocking for the price (5 mussels, 2 langostine, 5 small pieces of salmon and a few bits of white fish) and the base itself was tasteless and lacking the ‘plum tomato’ written on the menu. My Dad had the steak which came medium when he asked for rare and once again for the price, you would expect it to come out perfect. My Mum’s and husbands meals were fine but that’s all they were. Such a let down after us looking forward to it all week!

Enjoyed a 2 course lunch with some great wine yesterday. Professional yet friendly staff and relaxed brasserie. Lovely front terrace overlooking the bay where we have enjoyed drinks and watched the world go by. Recommend!

Just visited the restaurant but left very underwhelmed. Duck was overcooked, and dry, 'spicey' aubergine steak was lethally hot (inedible). Stick with the chips and you should be okay! We did mention this to the waiter but it wasn't followed up as if they didn't really care. Only on the island for a week and such a shame we spent our last night here as I know it could be so much better!

Special lunch time visit last week, looking forward to my favourite crab ramekin. Very disappointed the hotel's signature dish is no longer on the.menu. Reason given was cost of crab meat. Strangely crab dishes seem plentiful elsewhere on the island. My email query about this is still unanswered. Shame as staff on day were very helpful.

We had a really lovely meal in the restaurant on my wife's birthday. Staff were attentive and the food was exceptional. Many thanks to everyone at Seaview Hotel who helped make our visit everything I'd hoped it would be for our special occasion.

Absolutely loved the braised Ox Cheek and Chocolate Delice pudding- would highly recommend both. Attentive service and good quality food.

We had an excellent meal at the Seaview Hotel. The pan-fried sea bass with prawn and tarragon risotto was delicious, as was the blackberry mille-feuille. Fresh seafood done just right. Would go back!

I loved my stay here, everyone was so friendly and the food was exquisite. The room we stayed in was beautiful and the bed was a dream to sleep in. The beach was only a minute walk away, surrounded by lots of nice cafe's. Would highly recommend if you want a quaint little get away.

The staff were all great and so helpful with anything and everything. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The food was fabulous - book ahead to get a table! We were a bit concerned about travelling during the COVID times, but they did everything to make us feel safe, and dealt admirably with the rules that changed during our stay. The hotel is also just by the sea with walking, biking and swimming options (although the water is pretty cold!). We had such a good time there.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay during these challenging times. Excellent location near beautiful Seagrove Bay offering stunning views across the Solent, and a perfect base for exploring the island. My balcony room in the original main building was very clean and well appointed with brilliant rainfall shower. We ate in the hotel restaurant on our first night which was lovely, though the menu is quite limited. I fancied something on the bar menu and the staff were very accommodating of this, my burger was delicious! All staff were friendly and efficient on what was evidently quite a busy weekend for them. Hotel seemed well set up for social distancing and all staff were wearing face coverings. Would return again without hesitation!

Amazing food and great service given current circumstances. I can’t comment on the accommodation as I’ve never stayed here.

If possible to score zero I would have. Having checked on how to order, to then be ignored by staff and have tables that were still being sat, I appallingly poor service. I will never recommend this place, the reason there most recent review about 2* is over 2 years ago is very apparent. Avoid this place and travel round the corner to Old Fort for better service, staff, prices and pretty much everything...

Very nice comfy rooms. Excellent breakfast. Nice bar and ambience.

Had a good stay for two nights. First night dinning in the restaurant a little disappointed with the starter but main and dessert made up for it, second night ate in the bar for a change and had a great steak. Room was a basic double room but of a good standard at a great rate through travelzoo well worth another visit when weather is better.
