Misugo in Windsor and Maidenhead

We had a wonderful family birthday lunch at Misugo. We loved the friendly and attentive service, and the beautiful presentation of the food. The tastes of the sushi and the tempura were beyond our expectations. It was the best Japanese food any of us had ever eaten. And at the end, the price was so reasonable. 100% recommended. Thank you to everyone at Misugo.

Me and my grandad came to work in this as an electrician and absolutely perfect place. Very clean. Amazing staff. Would recommend Pantone to go here. Very cheap aswell!

We booked a table, but it was not necessary as it wasn’t busy on a Sunday lunchtime… We ordered drinks and then our food which arrived in a vey haphazard way…. Katsu curry first for one person, then sometime later some sushi sets followed by tomaki. Then some miso soup!!! Why couldn’t they serve it in a sensible order? We had to order water twice before it arrived at least half way through the meal…. They were not busy so no excuse…. The food was good and we liked the sushi but….. such a shame.

This is OUR place that myself and my girlfriend go to everytime i come to visit her in windsor. I was there for 4 days in march, and i went there 3 times. The food itself is very tasty and very fresh. Extremely quick for the food to arrive which is always a plus. The staff are very nice and always willing to help. I will always come back here, everytime i come to visit.

This is an amazing find for us . We were made most welcome and everything we ate was just superb - delicious, authentic and beautifully presented.- and so competitively priced. No wonder the restaurant was packed by the time we left. We can’t wait to return - and often! This is a gem 😍

Discovered this little gem while on a visit to Windsor Castle - a short walk away in a quiet part of town. Had a selection of sushi, hand rolls, curry and noodles - all tasted amazing and freshly prepped! The spicy salmon tuna sushi platter was particularly delicious. Service was top notch - nothing was too much trouble. Great food at a decent price - would definitely recommend!

We had the most delicious lobster and noodle dish from here. Air conditioned restaurant and very friendly staff. Just down the road from Windsor Castle. A perfect venue.

If you can get passed the grubby interior than you’ll be fine. The aroma of the restaurant is quite pungent too. One of the waitresses was an absolute delight, the other did rudely asked a couple nearby “have you chosen, or what?” I nearly p**sed myself laughing. I had chicken yakitori and it was fine and King Prawn tempura (which I still waited for, 15 minutes after ordering). The place was rather busy for a Tuesday night at 7pm so obviously liked by the locals. I must say I’m really spoiled for choice when it come to Japanese, having a choice of 3 different Japanese restaurant nearby home and having a Japanese friend cooking for me occasionally. The food is ok but not exceptional. The presentation is traditional and portion size are good. The location is easy to find but not much parking nearby. Best park at the East Berkshire college car park. Price wise allow for a good size meal around £15-20 per head. I enjoyed it but not enough to come back. This review is by one person travelling for Business since 1999 and eaten at the four corners of the globe.

Love eating here, we've been coming for years and now we've converted the children to fans too. The sashimi is great, I especially recommend the skil and the squid - contrast in textures but meltingly clean fresh tastes; and the sushi keeps widening range, I particularly like the pan-fried salmon skin. For the mains, the children always go for udon, my wife invariably chooses the chicken bento which is superb value and gives a range of small courses: I try to select different things but keep coming back to the steak bento for the same reasons. Never been disappointed with any choice, though!

Food is great over all. Service is fast and attentive. The staff was very helpful especially when we try to find taxi back to the Lego Land Hotel. He helped call to many taxi companies. We were very appreciative.

Probably the best Japanese food in Windsor, caveat I haven't been to Ichiban yet. But still, best quality food you can get. Can be overpriced tho.

I shouldn't start on the interior, but they say you can tell a lot about a restaurant from the toilets, and these were minging. Carpeted and like being in your great grandad's house. This flowed to the restaurant where the chair covers were all stained. How you do anything is how you do everything in my mind so it makes me question the wider cleanliness of the place. The main courses were very bland indeed - teriyaki sauce was a non-event. The sushi was good to be fair, but just good. Not great, and certainly not exceptional. So all in, the experience really was just a little average.

Amazing food. Absolutely delicious. Will be back! Windsor’s hidden gem. Not on the tourist trail but not to be missed……..

Had a great time there and the staff are all very friendly. It is family run and they have been here for many years. Food was very good value for money.

Came by a few weeks back whilst on a weekend away in Windsor. Staff were very friendly and it seems to be a nice family run restaurant. The sushi was very good value for money and the quality was really high. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We went for a company lunch recently and really enjoyed the food. The atmosphere was good and very contemporary. The sushi and sashimi was very fresh and up there with London standards. The tempura we found particularly nice (prawn tempura).

The tempura was as good as I've had anywhere, including Japan itself. Sashimi good also. Mid-price range.

Hemos estado en misugo varias veces en el pasado, pero no para llevar antes. El servicio fue muy sencillo y llamamos para reservar la comida para llevar con anticipación y una vez que llegamos, ¡estaba listo para pagar y listo! Me quedé muy impresionado porque la comida era tan buena como cuando fuimos allí en persona, especialmente la tempura, que nos preocupaba que se ablandara. En general, fue una gran experiencia y esperamos poder comer allí en persona pronto.

I was dying to get my sushi fix post lockdown, and these guys did not disappoint! Good portion size and fresh sushi, on par with the expensive London sushi joints in my opinion. Went with a 5 year old who gave a thumbs up too!

We are regulars in Windsor but not ventured down this side of town before. We came across two Japanese restaurants on the same street which was a real find. We decided on Misugo as it looked more authentic and was not disappointed with the food. The sushi was very fresh and the owner also had some really unique sashima like White Tuna which is rare to find outside of London. All in all a great little spot in Windsor for Japanese,

Went there becuse friend of us recommended that place to use. Little bit disappointing on food and definitely on service. Lady who took over our table from young boy was rude and she was looks like she don’t want us to be there. Shame.

We’ve been coming to Misugo now for a few years, mainly on weekends with my husband. The sushi here is really goodand they have a good selection of cooked foods as my husband is not a fan of raw fish. My favourite dish is the soft shell crab maki. I would certainly recommend it to anyone in the area!

We could never decide which was the better, Misugo or the Japanese restaurant next door. Tonight we set out to decide and shared the same meal in both.

Family owned top Japanese & fusion restaurant. We as a family have eaten there for over 20 year and the kids always chose this for their birthday. Kim the owner is superb and the staff are first class. Sushi, sashimi are the best, full range of authentic Japanese dishes. First class and if you come to Windsor look in you will be glad you did.

I've always been a big fan of sushi but have found I like the ones that are homemade to be much better - but not in this case!

Stopping by last weekend with my other half and stumbled across this restaurant which had a bright LED lit sign which looked really cool. I've not has sushi out of London before but this looked very traditional so we thought we would give it a try. To our suprise the Sushi was very fresh (we had some sashimi and some hand rolls) and the cooked food was good too. I will certainly be returning next time we drop by the area.

Date night with my fiance in a really nice setting. Food was delicious; tempura prawns, chicken gyozas and beef noodles were all really good. Service wasnt amazing, but polite enough. Restaurant itself is clean and tidy. Overall a really good meal and surprisingly cheap when the bill came.

We had a lovely family meal here for my mother in law's birthday. We opted to get the small dishes and enjoyed the edamame, nigiri, maki, tempura and sashimi. My 6yo daughter enjoyed using her chopsticks (and was better than most of us by the end of the meal). The food was lovely and beautifully presented, the service was excellent. They even sang Happy Birthday at the end of the meal without us asking and gave my mother in law a pudding with candle in. We will definitely be going back.

Fantastic local restaurant, we go as often as we can. The sushi and sashimi are great, but there's also a huge range of other dishes - simple, but deliciously cooked. I especially recommend the seaweed salad, which we have every time we go. The beef udon and the yakitori dishes are also favourites, and the bento meals are excellent value.

Have been to many different Japanese restaurants and this is definitely one of the best for their sushi. Highly recommend to sushi lovers!

I'm a big sushi fan so I'm always ready to be disappointed by an average restaurant but here the portions were well sized and well priced and the service was excellent. This isn't a 5 star restaurant but it is designed well and feels authentic. The sashimi was great, and not madly expensive. Our food came out promptly, was well presented, tasted good, and the service was efficient even in a busy restaurant.

We are regular customers here. Amazing food the closest to Japan you can ever imagine. Our Japanese friends like it a lot. Disagree with comments about ramen. Very good ramen. Amazing fish. We have birthday parties here, family time out, order take away and even party food. Thank you so much for an excellent service and great food!

Fuimos a almorzar y tuvimos una comida razonable. Primero probé un poco de sashimi de salmón y fue sorprendentemente bueno con una textura agradable y un sabor fresco. Luego probé un plato principal de langostino tempura ramen. My meal was quite delicious and steaming hot. The ambience was OK. The service was OK. Overall I had a good Japanese meal and will come back to eat at this restaurant.

恐る恐る行きましたがカツ丼は日本の味でした。うどんとラーメンもありますが、スープがラーメンに適したスープなのでラーメンをオーダーした方がいいかと思います。天ぷらはサクサクでとても上手に揚がってました！ ウィンザー城から徒歩10分と離れているので もっと繁華街にあったら流行ってるお店だと思います！

I've visited Misugo many times over the last few years and I'm never left disappointed. Fast, friendly service and delicious food - one of my favourite places in Windsor. I can recommend the Salmon Teriyaki and Pork Katsu. Highly recommend it for anyone considering a visit.

Having forever considered the only outlet for Japanese style cuisine in Windsor to be Wagamamas I was amazed and pleased to literally, stumble across this place by accident on a walk back to my room one evening. Inviting as it was i needed a reason to visit and the opportunity presented itself when I suggested to some friends from work that we meet here for a bite to eat one evening. Always up for something new and different, it made perfect sense and i was keen to see if it could deliver more than just a nice exterior.

I’ve visited this restaurant 4 times now and every time the food has blown me away! It’s some of the best sushi I have ever tasted! My friend lives around the corner and whenever I visit her I always beg to go back to this restaurant. One thing that lets them down is the young waiter who can come across quite rude, I’m unsure whether it’s because his English isn’t so good or just that customer service isn’t his forte. However, that being said, I would never let that put me off visiting time and time again! Still thinking about those Tuna and Spring onion rolls - so yummy! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends!

I went here for lunch with a friend and my children. I couldn’t get the pram in the door and the waiter just stared at me. He didn’t say a word, not hello or anything. Then another waiter came, a Japanese man, and he helped me in. Meanwhile the first guy just did nothing and didn’t answer when I said hello and sorry etc... he was Eastern European but he spoke English so I’m not sure what his excuse was. The restaurant was empty except for us.

I realise that the main reason to choose a restaurant is the quality of the food, well I cannot fault the food. But why do we have to sit on uncomfortable wooden stools?

Went for dinner on Sunday with my girlfriend and had a great time. She is a big sushi fan and we have our favourite spots in London. Wasn't expecting too much for Windsor but surprised with this nice trendy spot. Quality food, quick service. We would definitely add it to our favourite list if we lived a bit closer! We had a great dining experience at Misugo. We ordered an assortment of sushi and sashimi. The portion of the fish on the nigiri was generous. The salmon and tuna were full of flavour. The staff was very friendly and the service was great.

Had a lovely dinner with family here and we really ate the menu up and down - it was fun and delicious, every single dish tasted fab and the sushi chef came over to talk us through some special items he can make and we had a lovely chat with him. Such a great evening - absolutely lovely!

Hands down the best sushi, bento boxes and Katsu curries in Windsor...only downfall there is if you ask them for a simple cocktail, such as a rum and coke...they seem to have no notion of what anything cocktail related is, maybe staff can improve on that...other than that, two thumbs up

Had been talking about going for Japanese for a while and searched for a restaurant in Windsor. Found 2....next door to each other! Decided on misugo.

What's not to like about a place where the mixed sashimi comes in an adorable wooden boat? Really tasty food. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and intuitive with Vulcan-like powers; seemed to read our minds and the service was quick. Chairs not designed for lounging around after the meal and decor minimal

We go here sometimes after class in nearby east Berkshire college on Mondayevenings - when not every restaurant is still open. Sushi and sashimi are always of good quality. We'll be back.

Spartan both in ambiance and service, this restaurant offers good sushi. Here I tasted "skil"sashimi, a white soft/spongy fish, for the first time (but not the last).

We've eaten here on numerous occasions and keep coming back which should say it all.

We stopped off here for a break from the M4. We were the only ones in the restaurant for an early evening meal at 5pm. The food was fresh and arrived quickly. The staff were helpful and friendly. I had the bento box which the staff amended to be meat free for me. It was delicious and just the right amount. I wish I lived locally as would definitely return there.

Buena comida y buen servicio. Fantástica selección de sushi. (teníamos la selección del chef. Cajas de bento) y cangrejo de concha eran sabrosos suaves fue muy buena. Salsa katsu era un poco grueso (cornstarchy). No nos apuraron en de todos modos y una agradable comida.

Having just returned from 2 weeks in Japan and with a hankering for more Japanese food we called in for a bento box for lunch. While waiting I got chatting to the guy who served us who told us he was Chinese. I asked if the chef was Japanese to which he replied "not sure I never asked him" (Which I read as "nope, he's Chinese too but don't want to say so"). I was surprised at the amount of cooking that we could hear going on in the kitchen to produce a "traditional Bento box" when it arrived it was nothing at all like a Japanese one. It comprised of a sectioned plastic box with some rice topped with chunks of fried chicken in some sort of sweet sauce. Some lumps of disgusting slimy tofu in batter, some vegetables in batter including a slice of cucumber. I think this lot was supposed to be the tempura but the batter was conventional fish and chip shop flour batter not tempura batter. Then in another compartment was a funny batter like thing full of the stuff you would find in a Chinese spring roll. The traditional pickled vegetable element comprised of thin slices of cucumber, some bits of onion and some unidentifiable leaves in a sweet vinegar. We also were given a pot of what looked like heavily watered down soy sauce. The whole thing was disgusting and nothing like Japanese food, rather Chinese take away food dressed up as fancy dress version of Japanese food. I am completely puzzled by some of the glowing reviews on here of this place. I have eaten Japanese in Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagasaki and lots of other places in Japan and let me assure you the stuff they serve up at Misugo is NOT Japanese....its a poor Chinese copy....... does anyone know if the Japanese place next door is owned by the same Chinese lot or is it genuine?

This place served us the best gyoza I've ever tasted and awesome sushi. It's simple, served quickly and without fuss, and it puts fancy central London restaurants to shame.If you want great food, go here. Boom!
