Fantastic find thanks to Tripadvisor. We were at an event in St Pauls Cathedral & wanted somewhere close by to eat. The food was amazing, great choices, the service was attentive. The Shrimp Popcorn to start was so nice, I had the Salmon & my husband the ribs. Generous portion sizes. Will definitely return & would recommend. Its not a big place so best to book.

So glad we found this lovely restaurant when we visited London for the weekend. The food was amazing. We had duck breast and belly pork followed by pistachio cheesecake. All the staff were very friendly and professional but we must give a special mention to Siobhan who looked after us with superb service and was such a lovely lady. A great asset to the restaurant. Highly recommend a visit to The Glean.

We found this charming restaurant hidden up a lane near Blackfriars Station! I recommend it! I had the lobster fritter to start and prawn linguine main, yum. My partner had the scallops and black pudding starter and steak for his main, again no complaints!

Bailamos hasta la noche en un bar privado en el sótano, que era muy navideño. Uno de los mejores trabajos que he tenido. Anwar trajo de vuelta su muy especial filete para nuestro almuerzo después de una solicitud especial y nos alegra saber que volverá al menú del restaurante en el nuevo año. ¡Muy recomendable! Have done many business lunches at Missouri, and the food and service are always excellent. On this particular occasion, both my guests went for the calves liver and were very happy. The blackened rib eye is also particularly good

We booked a last minute table for 9:15 and while we were the only ones there, the staff cared for us as if we were first guests of the evening. Waiter was polite, food was great and it was a very short walk from our hotel.

I love this gem of a restaurant. crisp white tablecloths. really good food. excellent service. Calm atmosphere. Our favourite spot for business lunches but was a treat for a ladies birthday lunch as well and we were really looked after.

Para nuestro aniversario me gusta llevarnos a nuevos restaurantes. Lucy puede ser un poco exigente con la comida, así que solemos ir para carnes o barbacoa restaurantes. Este año pensamos que podíamos ir a un restaurante de carne que nunca había estado. Leí en OpenTable para buenos restaurantes steak y, después de un poco de investigación, me decidí por Angel de Missouri.

No comimos en el restaurante, siendo sincero, no sabía que era uno! Un par de pintas de Atlántico bajó muy bien, muy bien y curiosamente nos alojamos por más de un par y un unos pocos disparos. Un montón de espacio en el suelo, mesas altas con taburetes a juego, tres televisores, así que tenía una buena vista de la U 21 fútbol. Sammie fue un anfitrión fantástico junto con Mandy y humildes disculpas a las otras mujeres detrás de la barra, no recuerdo los nombres. I was taken as a guest for lunch just prior to Christmas. The food, service and ambience were all very good. I would not hesitate to take clients there in case I needed to lunch them in the City

It was a cold night and the restaurant was warm, but devoid of guests. We remained the only two restaurant guests for the entire evening (a Wednesday). There was an office Christmas party on the 2nd floor which did not impinge. Food was, in my opinion, very average. Nothing wrong with it, but relatively unexciting and overpriced. Service was good and staff were pleasant. however, they were hardly run off their feet! Perhaps, this restaurant should be considered as a lunch venue only - even so,...

Nice pub bar on the ground floor and restaurant on first floor. Nice ambience. quiet but efficient service and sensibly priced set menu for the City. Off the set menu, good range of steaks ( but City prices).

Don't know how we stumbled on to this gem, but we are very glad we did. Great service, fantastic meat cooked to our liking, passable wine list, and the bill at the end well within range. Very pleased!

I always tend to eat the same thing at his restaurant, since there's a limited choice for vegetarians. But the risotto is always cooked beautifully, it seems a little odd location coming up the narrow stairs but it is nice in the restaurant when you get there.

I visited the venues bar on a wednesday evening with work colleagues and clients. What then happened was quite terrible, after ordering a drink and requesting some songs on a Juke box, we were rudely sworn at by a employee of the venue, telling us we weren't local, its a local pub and we weren't welcome. Never visiting again.

The pub is cheaper than most places in the city, but has a weird smell that starts annoying after a while and staff knowledge on their own drinks was pretty poor. Not bad but not great, probably won't come back

Great little pub. Friendly staff with good service and solid selection of beers on tap. They do karaoke once a month and it is always a lot of fun. 3 large HD TV's and they always have sport on. Also a great corner to stand outside on and watch people come and go.

This restaurant sits at the top of some narrow stairs above the rather ordinary bar below. Once you arrive it is all clean linen and crystal; excellent service and food that is always of a very high standard and just unusual enough to be interesting as well as tasty. I walk past the Missouri Angel every morning and so see the delivery of tray after tray of beautiful veg and fresh herbs. If good ingredients are the basis of good food it is no surprise that the restaurant delivers great quality on a daily basis.

I know it is a restaurant or does fancy pub food but we have only used it as a good place near Tower Hill to come in a have a few pints while watching the 6 Nations. It's not an old characterful place but it draws a good crowd and was a fun place to be.

There was good service, along with lovely steak and wine. The cheesy mash is a must! Restaurant is in a convenient location. Would visit again.

took lunch with our over seas visitors, from Canada and South Africa, the 6 of us had a varied choice including meat and fish, all the food was very good as was the wine and the service.

Missouri Angel is a solid, reasonably priced restaurant just off Minories, near America Square. The food is very good. They are known for serving American beef, which Londoners often enjoy. The service is always friendly and the manager is always extremely accommodating.

Booked this place for friday 25 september to celebrate my birthday with my fiance.We walked into the pub which was very busy, restaurant was upstairs.Although noise was coming through a bit. The atmos was still good. Was surprised that there were only one other table eating but it was nice to be able to talk to each other with no other convos going on.Chicken liver was excellent as a started.New york strip with fries and bernaise sauce and sea bass with crushed potatoes with gorgonzola sauce and beans were excellent. Steak was cooked perfect, medium rare. Fish was translucent and tasty. New york cheesecake was ok but didnt taste right, not the usual taste.Overall very good. A tad on the expensive side at £92 with no bottle of wine.

We were seated on the top floor and were well looked after by our waiter. My starter and main were superb all washed down with a great Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc. The steaks are very good and well priced for the City, recommended.

Took a client out on business lunch to Missouri Angle and was very impressed with the entire experience.Missouri Angel is located away from the main hub where most other restaurants are located in the Tower Hill vicinity. This is not necessarily a bad thing because boy what an amazing find this was!We visited the restaurant during lunch time on a Wednesday afternoon. The restaurant was totally buzzing and the atmosphere was electric. We both went for a set menu option and chose a lovely bottle of red wine from their extensive wine list - wasn't disappointed at all.The service was top quality as you'd expect from a fine dining establishment and the food was absolutely delicious. Every item on the plate was cooked to perfection. I'll be going there again soon for more client lunches as Missouri Angel definitely ticks all the boxes.

Not a traditional American thanksgiving meal as pointed out in the other review, but the meal was extremely tasty none the less if you are not too bothered about not having all the American trimmings. I was skeptical of the price when a friend found the place but it was well worth the money when compared to another 3 course meal I ate recently where the turkey was dry and disappointing. I was running extremely late but the staff was very accommodating to this and did not rush my friends into ordering. The only downside was possibly the fact we were in a small room with just one other table (both tables were for about 9 people) so you could overhear each others conversations. I am looking forward to going again to try their normal menu.

I was really looking forward to having my first, in 6 years time, Thanksgiving dinner in London since moving here. I had not celebrated it in the past so when a visitor from the states set out to have a traditional meal I was at a loss to where we go. After a search on the internet of reviews of places this seemed the ideal choice.I was wrong. Apparently they are under the impression that Turkey Breast, NOT a true bird cooked is traditional. Couldn't be the furthest from the truth. Cranberry was served as a hot gravy (not American traditionally, it is always served cold and as a side) the vegetables were delicious but a far cry from the traditional mashed potatoes and/or mashed sweet potatoes (there was NO sweet potatoes which is grounds for being hung, drawn and quartered proverbially speaking)Oh, the starters, yes those were traditionally English by far. I found the Leek Soup was very tasty but not anything we traditionally would serve in the states. Now, for the kicker, Pumpkin Pie, something no one can get wrong and yet, you got it wrong. Where was the crust? This was more of an overthinking of the menu rather than a 'let's keep it simple' menu. I think the cook has either proported to be in America for Thanksgiving or has no clue and based it on cooking shows in the UK rather than getting some real input from Americans.At £40 per person, this was not an ideal meal. Perhaps you should stick to calling it 'An English twist to a Traditional Thanksgiving Meal' and we would have had less to moan about on the review. I also would like to add that in your regular menu there is a story of how this place came to be named and some history of Missouri. It spoke of the Sious (error it is spelled Sioux) Indians and their living in Missouri. At no time were the Sioux Indians a part of the Missouri State. Perhaps a bit of editing on that would be due as well.I don't think we will attempt another dining experience here as it was off the mark in every way possible. It might help future customers to know that the dining room is so small that the staff (all 5 of them) stand and stare at you the entire time you are sitting at the table. A very discerning thing and it made me want to leave very quickly as it was uncomfortable.

The restaurant is on the second floor of a bar. Very well appointed room but it was warm in the room. About 10 tables and only half full. Very good wait staff. The food however was below par. The black cod was so salty it was almost inedible. I asked for steamed vegetables on the side and was served a mushy spinach (or was it spinach?). My colleagues also found that their meals had too much salt and the accompanying starch and vegetable didn't quite go together. The pecan pie was decent though. There was either a loud band or the music blaring on the radio in the bar could be heard in the restaurant. Not pleasant.

My collegue and I saw this place as we were leaving an office building this evening. We'd never eaten there and are from the neighboring state of Kansas, so thought we'd give it a try figuring on normal pub food. There's a fairly small pub on the ground floor and another bar in the basement that we didn't visit. The restaurant is on the second floor (for Americans) and is very nicely appointed with linen tablecloths and multiple stemmed glassware set out. The service was very good though, to be far, there was only one other couple seated and after they left we were the only two. We were there from between 8-9. The menu bills the food as American but I'm not sure the chef has been to America. I had the blackend salmon but it wasn't very spicy. My colleague had the duck breast and seemed to like it. We both got creamed spinach and were both disappointed by its lack of creaminess. I had the turnip and parship soup and it was very thick. My colleague had the chicken pate and found it to be very good. The only two beers on offer were bottles of Peroni and Heineken. There is a 1 lb cover charge per person and a 12.5% service charge. The menu refers to the Souis [sic} indians of N. America and how their language form the basis for the naming of the state of Missouris [sic]. I guess if you're staying in this part of town and want someplace other than a true pub for dinner, this place is worth a visit but only after you've eaten at Bodean's enough to be tired of good BBQ.Thanks for reading.If you've found this review useful, I'll appreciate a Yes vote below.

This is a small restaurant serving great steak. The restaurant is upstairs, set perfectly and all white. Service is good and the wine list - though relatively small - has some great choices and very affordable. We had filet steak and it was just perfect. The only reason this is not a 5 is that it lacks a little bit of "personality" - maybe just because it was a Tuesday night and it was so quiet....would definitely go again when craving red meat

Went there with friends last week, for dinner. Ours was the only occupied table in the restaurant, surprisingly for a Friday evening. The service was good, food came out quickly. The place is quite small, so it was lucky we were alone in the restaurant and I suppose it can be quite loud if the place is full. The food was excellent. I had the chicken liver parfait and a peppered steak which was juicy, tasty and cooked to perfection.Definitely recommended and if on Friday nights it's always empty, this is the perfect place for a romantic date.

We had a really nice time in this resturant up on the 1st floor of this pub this week.Food was amazing . Good Grill house choice , we all loved the range of steaks . We sat at a very nice corner table . We ended up spending the whole afternoon here ,lol , followed by a few cheeky beers in the main bar .We found the staff very friendly and they couldn't do enough to make you feel at home .Definitely one to go back to.ThanksSteve

We work nearby this restaurant and go about once a month on average. We always find the service friendly, efficient and welcoming. You can enjoy a drink at the downstairs bar before heading up to the restaurant. It is an attractively decorated, intimate room although it can get quite loud when busy.The steaks, although not cheap, are some of the best in the area and the reality is that pretty much everyone here will be on expense account business lunches anyway, so they know they can charge that extra few pounds for the quality being offered. It is paired with a well balanced wine list with some lovely American reds that are not so easy to find. The cheeseboard is also huge and we usually take one between two. Recommended.

This restaurant is an easy walk from most areas of the City, and a very nice place. The upstairs dining room is nicely appointed, and the staff very friendly. Food offerings were limited, but of a high quality. I ate an excellent duck breast dish, and started with risotto, likewise good. Wine list very small, but good selections on there - had a Duck Pond pinot noir, which was surprised was available in London. One nice extra - they played in the background a lot of 1930's era blues music, which was a really nice touch, setting the right American tone.

Have been to this restaurant quite a few times now for lunch over the last couple of years or so Food, wine and service is always to a very high standard. Certainly well worth a visit if you are in this part of the city. Not particularly cheap but you are in the city after all. The restaurant is well furnished inside but could probably do with a lick of paint outside! will continue to return.

I arranged our team Christmas lunch at Missouri Angel in 2012 (I have only just got to use the square meal reviews) and it was absolutely fantastic! We were able to hire out the room downstairs and bring our own decorations to put up, free of charge (good size for a team of 20). The menu had a choice of 3 options for Starter, main and dessert, which we could pre order to save hassle and time on the day. I had a Poached egg on asparagus, with béarnaise sauce for starter and a butternut squash risotto...

Quite expensive but the steak delivers on the promise. Good red wines to complement & attentive staff waiting on. I dined alone but plan to return with friends.

Came here for dinner on the premise of getting some high class American classics and was a little disappointed at the distinctly european but with a few token American-style dishes on the menu.My starter was a "Southern style lobster fritter" which sounded great but ended up being 3 enormous balls of mostly breadcrumbs and so over flavoured that I struggled to detect any actual lobster. Wouldn't have complained but the starter was over £11 on its own!Next up was the main course of "Midwestern meatloaf, sweet cured bacon and truffle mash". A plate appeared with enough food to feed at least 2 people. Now normally I wouldn't complain at this but the meatloaf was wrapped in undercooked and fatty bacon, with the loaf itself being pretty dry and flavour less. The exact opposite of southern style in my opinion. To be fair, the (again ginormous!) pile of mash was creamy and tasty but I struggled to detect any truffle flavours. Disappointing and at nearly £18 well over priced.I was also amazed to find that not a single American beer was on offer - surely a place with the name "Missouri Angel" would be able to sell something other than the standard Peroni, Heineken etc?!In conclusion, I was very disappointed having eaten an amazingly tasty and cheap meal at the much better and just round the corner Bodeans the previous night. If you want delicious, authentic and well priced American food don't come here, go to Bodeans!!

I have been here several times, and food has always been incredibly tasty... Whether you choose to have have crabcake, lobster fritters, salmon, sea bass, a rack of lamb or a New York strip, yo won't be disappointed - it's American food at its best, simple but delicious. And the private dining rooms are absolutely unique... just be prepared to for a steep climb up the stairs...

Arrived a bit late at 9-45pm,but waiter Muji ensured we were seated and our meal prepared.The blackened salmon was excellent as were the sides of mash and mushrooms.Pecan tart was delicious as a dessert.unfortunately we were the only diners as the evenings tend to be quieter than the lunchtime trade(and we were late) so the atmosphere was not applicable.The only thing I would say to the restaurant is that they should not add 12.5% service charge to the bill,as I would have preferred the waiter to have the money as he went out of his way to accomodate us.Suggest you book in before 9pm as they finish serving at 10

Lunched here several times, fairly imaginative menu, obviously loosely based on USA, plus excellent service make this a place I would highly recommend. On my last visit, last week, asked for a medium rare steak but it came up over cooked but I was very impressed with the way my "complaint" was dealt with and how quickly a properly cooked steak was returned to my table. Also, a nice touch whereby the restaurant email you on the morning to confirm your booking.

As a venue for a Business lunch this is superb, was here with 4 clients, the food and wine were very good, as was the service and ambience, on the down side it can be very expensive, but then again this is on the edge of the "city"

Great food at the Missouri Angel. Manu includes some fantastic starters such as the crab cakes and great steaks. Side orders include garlic mash and string fries but personally I like teh tobacco fries and the mash with Monterey Jack, which i a great side dish for a rib eye steak.Wine list is also excellent.Prices are not low but as always you get what you pay for. If you haven't been there, give it a try.

We had a very nice meal in a charming setting at Missouri Angel. Our waiter did not have much understanding of English so some dishes were not what we ordered. It was a business dinner so we didn't mention it. Despite the mix up, it was an enjoyable meal.

Perfectly placed for business lunches and the fast courteous service also suits that market. Light airy upstairs restaurant, downstairs is dark - typical former pub building . Pricing is geared to business but not exhorbitant and the food was excellent. My guest and I skipped the steak menu - although they looked very good - we had chicken and fish (excellent blackened salmon). Veggie sides and fries delicious too. Only criticism is that they have jammed a lot of tables into the space so some tables are a little 'cosy' and the noise level is a bit loud for business chat. But I would go back.

I certainly would not call this an "American" restaurant. Only the name suggests it is - and the "Angel" comes from the pub name which has been on site for the 40 years I have worked in the City.That said, food well cooked, good menu, far from overpriced considering the area. Service very good, attentive without being overbearing. A little clinical maybe, so marked down for atmosphere. Would certainly not rule out a future visit.
