It was a really good experience at Boxcar. At first I was not convinced by the cocktail but when the food arrived it was amazing. The meat is well cooked and juicy and great quality. The fries and the sauces going with it are all good. It’s more on the high end of the price as the 4 of us got for 400£ in total. So basically it can go around 50-100 per head if you take wine apetizer and started. Depending on how hungry you are. Will recommend definitely

This was the first food stop I tried after arriving in London, and it definitely left an impression! I went with a group of friends, and we all enjoyed the meal overall. The main dishes were okay—not mind-blowing, but satisfying enough to keep us going on our adventure around the city. But the real star of the show? The sticky toffee pudding. It was absolutely incredible. If I had just come for that dessert alone, I would’ve given the place a full 5 stars without hesitation. It was so good we did not even get a photo of it lol. Perfectly warm, rich, and comforting—exactly what you’d hope for in a classic British dessert. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area—just don’t leave without trying that pudding!

The service was exceptionally slow, we were in a rush so we told them that to see if the food could come a bit quicker, it took 45 minutes for 2 burgers

We checked out Boxcar Bar & Grill, and I was really hoping they had vegan options for their lovely pastries, but sadly, they didn’t, apart from a peanut butter cookie. I went for their superfood salad, which was actually delicious! That said, I couldn’t help secretly eyeing up my husband’s egg and pastry. Definitely heading back to try the Matcha bun once Lent is over! I also had the Matcha latte with coconut milk, but I’d probably go for oat milk next time, as I wasn’t a fan.

Most wonderful experience. We had the super food salad to start along with the bread and herbed butter. We then ordered the Sunday Dinner for 2, sirloin roast beef, cooked medium. It was accompanied by potatoes and onions, a small cast iron of cabbage and carrots and a small cast iron of cheesy cauliflower. The flavor was unbelievable and the au jus was soooo delicious!!! Staff was very friendly and when we come back to London we most certainly will be visiting!! Cannot recommend this place enough. Atmosphere was beautiful and clean and felt like a tucked away oasis amongst a bustling city.

Very expensive for what we ate, the dish comes alone without anything. My steak was medium rare and came medium cold, I guess because they brought it out before the others, which were medium. On the other hand we were at a table that vibrated the entire floor.

By chance found this place, and watched a great talented girl on her own with a guitar, she was excellent I think her name was “ Francis” or “Francine” the food was tremendous and the drinks were reasonably priced for London.

Blown away by the food here. I came with some friends and everyone was so pleased with what they ordered. I do recommend the lamb shank shepherds pie and the pan roasted cod. The cocktails were also out of this world, especially the spicy peach margarita. Most of all, the service topped it all off. A special thanks to the team for making us feel so welcome. I will definitely be coming back when I’m next in London!

We hired Boxcar recently for a family lunch of 18 for my Mum's 80th birthday. A beautiful, light, airy space and perfect for the size of group we had. The team (before and during the day) were attentive, polite and made us feel very welcome and looked after. The sharing style food was perfect for the occasion, with lots of different dishes, as well as being excellent quality. Being able to have the space to ourselves on a Saturday (another group were downstairs but it didn't impact at all) made it even more special. We would highly recommend!

Ended up at Boxcar Bar & Grill in Marylebone for scran, even though our kid Pete completely ballsed up the booking and got the wrong night. Fair play to the staff, though—they still managed to sort us a table for four, no fuss. Proper chilled vibe in there, sound place to kick back. The food was top—cooked bang on, full of flavour, and came out spot on. Service was class too, dead easy from start to finish. Defo recommend this place, whether you’re after a decent bite or just somewhere to catch up with your mates—even if one of ‘em is as useless as Pete at booking owt!

We had a good steak and chips at the Boxcar Bar & Grill. Both the red wine jus and peppercorn sauce were tasty. Also enjoyed the rosemary chips. The house red lacked body, and the rioja went better with steak. Interesting decor gave a good feel to the restaurant.

Special final lunch in London with my daughter before I have to leave to go back to Taiwan. She gave me a few options to choose for a roast beef lunch, but this was the standout option. Not disappointed at all, great flavors, beef cooked to perfection, roast potatoes nice and crunchy and correctly soft on the inside. Quality vegetables and a nice “crumble” on the leeks. Also a great Bloody Mary to start with. Service very good, friendly and attentive. My daughter has saved this place for future visits, as she lives in London. Thank you for a great lunch.

Remarkably tasty. The lamb croquettes were fantastic. Savory but with delicate flavors. The beet root slice with tiny beet leaves made a nice presentation. Steak frites was nice too.

Sometimes the most unexpected places are the BEST! My partner walked into this place because of the rain and.. we were lost lol. It was a truly amazing find. Service and food were phenomenal! Boxcar is now a place I will be returning to

I really fancied a Sunday roast and after a scan through OpenTable I homed in on Boxcar . Our first time here , both I and my fining companion were not disappointed . The lamb croquettes ( not.pictured) were tasty and not filling leaving room for the main course , shared Hereford beef which was superb , well presented and accompanied by gravy and a selection of seasonal vegetables. The dessert, chocolate maquise , with raspberry coulis was heavenly . with all this excellent cooking , the staff delivered a superlative service

What a difference staff and service makes. We love the Wyndham street branch so decided to go to the Quebec Street branch for coffee. Despite being the onl;y people in the restaurant simple americano and latte could not be made right. Badly made and served cold despite requesting to make sure its extra hot before ordering. Did not have anything else.

We had a Sunday roast and it was pretty good. The beef sirloin was great quality and perfectly medium rare. However, I wish that it would’ve been served at a warmer temperature as I found it a bit too cold for my liking. The trimmings of leek gratin and caramelised carrots were very well done! However, the roast potatoes were subpar, the outer layer was pretty tough instead of crisp. The charred cabbage was only slightly charred at the edges and overall tasted quite raw. Overall, it is still one of the better Sunday roasts around.

Very friendly and attentive service. We had the set lunch menu, which had choices, and was excellent; i had lamb croquettes, sirloin steak (perfectly cooked and so tender!) with peppercorn sauce and finally, strawberries with whipped cheesecake and crumble. Delicious. Thank you Boxcar.

Fabulous neighbourhood restaurant for a long weekend lunch or dinner. Really relaxed and excellent food-especially Sunday roasts and desserts-wow. Diverse wine list and gorgeous in summer in the back courtyard or out front if you have a pooch.

The best Sunday roast I have ever had.

I’ve been to Boxcar several times and it always lives up to expectations. The staff are always super friendly; the food beyond the quality you would expect for the price; and the cocktails always delicious. Would highly recommend!

Booked for a birthday dinner, very attentive staff although slow at times (understandable given the amount of tables they have to cover) and delicious food. The sirloin steak was delicious, better than the ribeye in my opinion, recommend the peppercorn sauce as well. The rhubarb dessert came with a Happy Birthday message in chocolate and they offered a delicious limoncello at the end.

Food and service is amazing! Ribeye was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. Charred cauliflower was delicious. My husband liked his burger and fries. And the elderflower nojito was fantastic!

I’m not often one to leave a review but the service and food was so excellent here. I couldn’t recommend it more. Our waitress Fiona was absolutely brilliant, and the peach margaritas were 10/10!

Popped in with wife and Mother-in-law. We were seated almost instantly. Service was very good. All the staff were extremely friendly which lent itself well to the relaxed ambiance of the place. Food was fantastic and well priced. Would visit again. Good beers.

Fantastic steak, cooked perfectly rare but not bloody. Sides were the perfect compliment to it, and I would totally recommend going for the peppercorn sauce. Liam took great care of us, being friendly, quick and very personable. Would 100% recommend.

I just wanna say to everyone reading this review, this is a Gem in Marylebone and definitely it worth a try. Amazing service from the staff, good food and definitely I will be back.

I will be coming back soon. I hosted my two friends and my son for a steak on Thu night. The Rib eye and 3 sirloins were made to perfection. My friend asked for his to be cooked slightly more which was sorted quickly. Peppercorn sauce was a delight. Broccoli delicious. Great staff, smiles and fun. Quick too. House red was a great selection. Box car will see me and my friends again.

Wow, honestly this was the best food we have had in London. We got the steak and the duck breast and it was so delicious and well cooked. The staff were also so lovely - great people and super friendly. The ambiance was awesome - great place for lunch, dinner or cocktails! Definitely coming back!!

We went there to have a drink and the lady there asked us if we had a reservation we said no, and she looked at us in disgust. It was so appalling and insulting. We left the place right away. I can understand the place might be full during evenings/ weekdays but that/s not how to treat customers.

Came here for a drink, the staff is very friendly and nice, the atmosphere is really good, it’s tiny but very pretty. The cocktail was amazing and prices reasonable according to the position of the bar.

Visited on a busy Saturday night and took the last available seat at the bar. Food was OK, as described and as expected and served in a reasonable time. The people either side of me ordered steak and had a very bad experience - food was very slow to arrive, one steak was way over cooked and the other way under, neither looked particularly appealing. Service was a mixed experience. The waitress seemed more interested in flirting with the other staff than doing her job - throwing a menu at customers while rushing past is not the way to do it in my opinion. The barman however was attentive and quick and made a great negroni. All up a mixed bag. I might go back at a quiet time if I was in the area but certainly wouldn't go out of my way.

I visited a couple of weekends ago and I had an extremely positive experience at Boxcar. The atmosphere was very warm and relaxed. Our server looked after us very well and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, being able to advise even on the portion sizes. Drinks were reasonably priced for Central London and the food was enjoyed by all us in attendance and we all had a variety of starters, mains and desserts. I'd happily return and have no reservations in recommending Boxcar.

Slow service - took a good 15 mins place order and then everything came out very slowly. Scallops delicious, torched mackerel pretty good… rib eye was very very fatty. Not much one could actually eat. Good value and the staff were very nice.

We came with my friend for lunch. We took the Sunday roast chicken. It was delicious, potatoes were super crispy everything had a lot of flavor. However i think it could be a bit warmer. The staff was super friendly and the place is lovely. 12,5% imposed tips is a lot…(like, a lot!)

Had the most amazing dinner last night at Boxcar. The fillet steak was like butter - so tender, I barely needed a knife. And those scallops with pancetta and artichokes were the best I’ve ever tasted. I usually don’t have dessert but I had to try the rhubarb millefeuille. I’m still dreaming about those layers of pastry and cream. The service was impeccable too. Lorenzo and Liam made the whole experience like we were dining in a warm, welcoming home. I can’t wait to go back.

Had a great meal at Boxcar on Saturday night. We were greeted with a smile from the waiter and had prompt service all night. Food was esquisite. I would highly recommend!

We only popped in for cocktails, on our way somewhere. If we hadn’t already booked somewhere I’d have loved to have stayed. Anyway, called in on our way back. The drinks beautifully served. We've been to Boxcar a few times now. The food is delicious and the service is great too. If you find yourself in the area, it's definitely worth visiting this little gem.

Great food & great service, would highly recommend

Actually it’s better than three star but not quite “very good”. The starters were so limited that we didn’t bother (not a lot for non-pork, non-seafood eaters, nothing to share and no soup). Those who chose well and had the Venison, had a really delicious meal. I’m still cross that I ordered trout with beetroot as the trout was ordinary and the beetroot slightly hard and under-cooked. It was fine but not special. Maybe ordering fish in such a meaty place was just a silly idea. The desserts (there were just two and we tried both) were good. The chocolate one isn’t really my thing but it was dense and chocolaty and cut by the fruit. The ginger saverin was excellent as were most of the bits with it except the chestnuts which were too crisp and hard plus didn’t taste of chestnut (I’m a bit of a chestnut freak) The service was good and attentive -others have complained at it but all seemed pretty efficient on quite a busy Friday night. I suspect it really is a place just for meat-eaters and I’m not that keen. That doesn’t mean it isn’t pretty good for them.
