The Colony Grill Room in City of London, Westminster

Really setting the bar for a refined luxury steakhouse in London. Quality is top notch, rivalling the very best NYC steakhouses I have visited (the chips alone are worth making a visit for). Started off with the incredible truffle toast. A perfect snack size for two. As expected it's rich and indulgent but perfectly balanced with the onion chutney. Perfectly cooked ribeye of a generous portion served with a lovely little side of bone marrow. Build-your-own sundae was a nice playful touch and you could pick as many toppings as you like. Rhubarb and custard ice cream was a real standout, unbelievable flavour in one scoop. Service was very friendly and extremely attentive, not a minute passed without my glass being topped up with a lovely Barolo. A genuinely faultless 5* experience.

The best chicken Caesar salad ever!!!!!

Firstly, the food was delicious. The rib eye steak was perfectly cooked and the bone marrow was a great touch. I’d describe the burger as sophisticated - it was simple and full of flavour, one the best burgers I’ve had actually. This isn’t a smash burger nor a sloppy burger for those interested. Even the chips were perfectly crispy and fluffy at the same time. In addition to the food, the service was excellent and the setting made experience feel luxurious.

Starters (prawn cocktail) and dessert (the ice cream bowl) were excellent. Tried the tomahawk for main and it was a tad cold. Drinks at the bar before dinner were very slow unfortunately. The dining room is very elegant and has a good atmosphere to dine - the staff are all very helpful.

Rude staff at the door (silver hair man) that ruined my experience right off the bat. Judgy, negative attitude. Will not come back.

I really loved the toasted s’mores but I thought the service was slow & £30pp was a little pricey just for the table on top of he £15 for the s’mores considering there were only 3 marshmallows

Joanna was incredible kind. We booked a table to have a friend join us who is undergoing serious medical treatment. The kindness , thoughtful of Joanna in accommodating our needs was incredible. She went totally over and beyond the call of duty. I hope her managers see this review and commend her for professionalism and ability to make every guest feel special

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. From the hors d'oeuvres, the eel carbonara was full of flavour and highly recommended. Others from our party had shrimp cocktail and oysters; both were excellent. The caesarea salad was delicious as well. From the grill, everything our party had -fillet, wagyu, rib eye, etc- lived up to expectations, apart from my own rib eye steak (bad luck, I guess). Good variety of sauces and sides, and a fantastic wine list.

This swank intimate restaurant captures the glamour of 1930's New York in the middle of Mayfair. While it has a distinctive American menu, there is a British sophistication to the experience. The Caesar Salad-- a rare find in London, was excellent and the Monkfish Wellington was a superb main course. Service is excellent -- warm and engaging and the ambiance of the room is spectacular--both comfortable and luxurious.

As a meat lover it’s hard to go anywhere these days to get great meat without spending p’s so the Colony Grill was a real find!!! Loved it! Not the most lively place but good for a date!

I start by saying I super recommend this place. I had a work lunch there and I was super pleased with the food and everything else. We shared some entrées for the table. We ordered the Cesare salad, the smoked eel carbonara (amaaazing!), the smoked salmon and the prawns cocktail. For main we all had the monkfish wellington with a glass of Sauvignon blanc. Super yummy. The atmosphere was lovely and the service high level. I’ll be coming back.

Colony Grill truly exceeded my expectations. The breakfast experience here is a league of its own, with a one-of-a-kind duck dish that left me craving more. The service was impressively quick and attentive, making it an ideal spot for those in a hurry. The elegant room decor added a touch of sophistication to the meal. A lot of positives - food and service were 5*. Atmosphere though was lacking for me. On the food, one of the best steaks I’ve had in London. Hands down. The side dishes were also very good and far exceeded expectations. The service was as you would expect for a 5* hotel and didn’t disappoint. The restaurant atmosphere was unfortunately flat - the classic decor and classical background music coupled with the restaurant being quiet.

Belated review from a meal had a few months ago, mainly to highlight the amazing service provided by the Floor Manager, Robert Mezzapesa. There was an unfortunate accident during our meal where some wine was spilled, and Robert's help in getting everything sorted & cleaned afterwards was superlative. He's a real credit to the restaurant and the hotel and epitomises the high standard of service you would expect at a place like this. Thank you, Robert!

We had the worst meal in London. The filet I ordered had a disgusting taste. The service was bad and slow. The place is nice but we were very disappointed. We will not go back ever.

Very stylish & comfortable High quality food Slow service - they didn’t have enough staff on

I came in yesterday and had a lovely chat with the waiters. They even brought me their homemade chocolate biscuit and some truffles. The lunch finished at 2.30 but I stayed on and had more tea because the ambience and staff were so friendly. Such an amazing place. I’ll be back. The French toast dessert is also the best I’ve eaten!

Attended an evening for my birthday dinner. The restaurant was beautiful and the food was heavenly! Mushroom parfait was so creamy and the tomahawk steak full of flavour. Absolutely divine. We were extremely well looked after by Robert and the rest of the team, easily one of the nicest dinners we’ve ever had! This restaurant just oozes class, elegance and decorum. We will definitely be returning.

Tomahawk was good and really tasty. Peppercorn sauce didn’t tasted like peppercorn. We did order chicken dish as starter and it was way too salty. Also the salad we got was not good. Service is good and the only reason we stayed back. I think the chef need to workout on the food a bit. Hope to see a better menu and taste on our next visit.

We had the tomahawk steak here. Couldn't recommend it enough. The streak was perfect. The sides were also amazing. I highly recommend the broccoli and triple cooked chips!

Very nice restaurant with a nice atmosphere. A place was made available for us to pray when salah came in. We had a very helpful waiter called Syed who recommended nice dishes and drinks! Great service.

This is an expensive restaurant, but it sets a high standard for both service and food quality. We were greeted at the door by the Maitre’d, who took our jackets and seated us at a nice table. For starters I had the New York shrimp cocktail, which was probably the best one that I’ve ever had. We also shared a Chateaubriand, which was cooked medium rare to perfection. We didn’t have room for dessert. The Maitre’d even took the time to farewell us when we left. This is a great place. We’ll be back.

We had a lovely Easter lunch at the colony and found the food to be very nice. The environment is luxurious and fun. The staff were pleasant (the sommelier slightly bonkers). Overall would recommend got a slightly high end lunch in Mayfair.

It had been a while since we frequented this restaurant and time hadn’t diminished our appreciation of the food and service. It is very much a high-end grill without the ‘stuffyness ’. The staff were excellent- attentive and efficient, certainly not sycophantic, as can often be the case. A significant level of praise should be given to the Sommelier, Ariana, who was very helpful and knowledgeable. Most importantly, she was passionate about her love of wine. A real boon to the restaurant. Overall I would highly recommend the Colony Grill. We will be returning sooner rather than later.

Lovely Sunday roast with make your own sundae for dessert. A smart but relaxed location with music from the nearby room serving afternoon tea. Very friendly service. Really nice location for a special celebration. Near Oxford street for shopping too.

The best service with the best food

We had the roast pork belly and it was perfect. The aperitief (sidecar) was also very good, one of the best I've ever had. And a great wine selection too. The vibe is efficient but relaxed.

I'd leave 6* for service if I could! The steak was also great.

There is limited parking, but you don't want to drive to this venue! Driving in London is a real headache thanks to Mayor Sadiq Can't ... Delicious food, very comfortable, not too close to other tables but generally a good atmosphere.

Less comfortable semi-cicular banquette seating with less attentive and less acurate service together with one main course and side both served cold. The place was busy so maybe this was part of their problem but at these high prices, they need to raise their game to where it was on our last visit The rating this time is a generous Very Good

Ordered Caesar salad, was not Caesar salad, very poorly constructed, and portion. The quality of food not upto scratch. Would not attend again.

Went here for a birthday meal with a friend and we had the best experience. It’s a gorgeous setting with the ambience fully thought through. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. To top it off when they realised it was my birthday they brought me a candy-floss cake. All in all, an amazing experience and we will definitely return.

Amazing food and service especially saed !!

We've been eating Christmas dinner in London for years. We've tried many of the top places. The meal we enjoyed this Christmas at the Colony Grill was the best we've ever had. Each course was superb. They were slammed, yet the service was impeccable. We argued over which course was best. The ballotine of foie gras! No! The lobster and tarragon dumplings! No! The scrumptious turkey: flavourful and moist. The pigs in the blanket were the best any of us had ever eaten. We were about to cry because we just couldn't finish the delectable Christmas pudding. The mince pies are not to be missed (we took them home). The room is one of the prettiest and most comfortable in London. Many thanks to Lionel, Robert, and the whole staff for another memorable meal. Do nip into the excellent Magritte Bar for a degistiv. Another lovely room, wonderful jazz, and a superb staff.

20 minutes for the coffee to arrive, we had to chases everything on the order, charged for drinks we didn’t have and then an £80 bill for the three of us!

It's absolutely delicious... amazing food, service and atmosphere. Steak was brilliant, Prawn cocktail just delicious and beautifully presented. To finish, the sundae with more than 150 options... outstanding. Going back on the 22nd for a late lunch...

We were lucky enough to dine at The Colony Grill Room as a group of 3 yesterday evening. I cannot stress enough what a superb experience we had. From an exceptional greeting through to amazing dishes, there wasn’t a fault to be found.

I joined two colleagues who lived in London and are also into fine dining and wine. I have to say that our evening was an exceptional experience and the food and service were nothing but 5 starts. Mainly this is also due to our Sommelier Sergio, who served us and hinted us to a Gamay that we never would've found or ordered otherwise. The food was authentic and the atmosphere of the place is unique. Thank you for this lovely evening.

I treated a fellow colleague at Colony Grill to the Thanksgiving Feast set menu (85£) with the wine pairings (50£/each). The experience was a mixed bag of mostly exquisite, brilliant, exceptional and beautiful. When we’re arrived the hotel, restaurant and bar decor take your breath away immediately because it’s British elegance at its finest. The greeting for our arrival was like we we’re family and so glad to have us. The maître d' was fabulous and asked and directed us to the bar to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail there. I recommend that as a must. The drinks were fantastic. I had the Vesper Martini and my colleague a Manhattan. Back to dinner and we were cheerfully seated. Each course was a culinary delight and totally keeping with Thanksgiving traditions. My sour grapes are for the wine pairings. With the main course the sommelier brings out and pours a Federalist Cabernet (Lodi, California $18). I’ve had this wine many times. But mainly on a Tuesday with a meatloaf or beef stew. Never would I pour something of this nature to my guest on one of the most important meal Holidays of the year. Plus, all five pours of the other wines were so small. I much rather have picked a 90-110£ bottle from the extensive wine list. But, good luck finding a good one of value. I found most of the wines to be 400% mark up from my prices stateside retail. I’ll definitely be back, though. The Colony Grill is Uniquely Exquisite! But I’ll order wine by the glass.

We were a party of six old friends meeting up and I don’t think we could have found anywhere more welcoming. Pre dinner drinks in the bar were accompanied by an excellent pianist which was a lovely background experience without being intrusive. The service and ambience at this restaurant are top class and the food superb. Could not recommend it more highly.

My partner surprised me with a dinner at The Beaumont for my birthday and it was absolutely perfect. Everything from the food, to the wine selection and service was outstanding. The staff was really welcoming and friendly, and they’ve turned the dinner into a truly amazing experience. Not to mention the live piano that was a lovely touch.

Languid Art Deco dining room. A brunch menu with something for everyone. Food excellent. Freshly squeezed orange juice reminded me of a Greek island. Latte on point. Bottom line there’s only so much you can do with an eggs Benedict or a full English. But what separates this establishment from other well heeled diners was the service. It was impeccable. We were made to feel special. And our little one even got a Beaumont bear. Those are the small details that will make us come back. We dined at 10.15am on 22nd October. The maitre D and the lady in charge of waiters working the floor were just sublime!!

The food was great with a nice ambience. We ordered the Steak Tartare, Chicken and Prawn Cocktail for starters. For mains we shared the tomahawk steak and another 400g ribeye - they were both phenomenal. Their mixologist had all the drinks on point. Will definitely be back for more when I am in London next!

Good atmosphere friendly service and very reasonable for this part of London.. Menu changes regularly so can't suggest what to try... But if you get the cannelloni that's worth a try...

Set in a lovely boutique 5-stat hotel, the Colony grill offers a varied selection of great food, wine and dessert. The service was exceptional and the decor is the ideal balance of quirky and elegant. Great for a family meal or date if you want somewhere different.

Good choice of breakfasts but my smashed avocado on toast with a poached egg was a little bland and I tasted sugar on the toast.

It was a lovely cossetted evening from the valet parking to the drinks in the lounge and then to dinner in a nice, comfortable booth. The food was excellent as was the service All in all, a memorably good evening

Was taken here by a friend recently, but it's a bit expensive for my tastes and it was very difficult to get served if you could only get a seat near reception. Service is very good and helpful when it comes though and there is a good range of cocktails as long as your happy to pay £19, which my friend tells is good value in a London hotel like this, personally I'd have preferred a pint of Tring beer, but it or anything similar wasn't on offer.
