Mirch Masala in Cherwell

You are greeted with a lovely warm welcome and offered great advice regarding the menu choices. We were on our way to West Bromwich to watch football and normally stay overnight local to that area and always have a curry as it’s our favourite food. But as I had lived in Bicester over 40 years ago had decided on this trip to stop and reminisce and also try a local Indian restaurant. Based on the fantastic reviews we settled on Srishti’s Kitchen and what good fortune we had as the food was just wonderful. We spent a few weeks in India last year and I can genuinely say when she advertises authentic food she 100% hits the spot. The food is fresh, tasty, delicious and straight from the stove to your table. What more could you ask for …..simply wonderful and already on our itinerary for our next trip…..it’s a pity the kitchen isn’t based at the village as we could combine two wonderful experiences Lovely to meet you. Gathering of something close to 30 car nerds, we took up the whole restaurant and had a great evening with fabulous food and great, friendly service. Excellent.

Visiting Bicester for a couple of days so looked for somewhere to eat last evening. Srishti’s Kitchen had some good reviews so decided to go there. We were not disappointed. Our host, Srishti went to considerable trouble to make sure my wife and I had meals that really suited us. My wife is not keen on hot chilli meals but I like them. We had lamb and chicken biriani to share. What excellent dishes they were. We left thinking what great meals we had eaten and so impressed with the hospitality. We were so pleased to have eaten our dinner at Srishti’s Kitchen. John S Newbury 13 November.

We finally got round to booking a table here and what a delight it was, definitely living up to the previous reviews on here. Srishti was an excellent host and her food was equally as excellent. We can't wait for our next visit to try other menu items!

I've lived in Bicester for almost two years and my partner and I are lovers of Indian food, but when we discovered Srishtis kitchen we were blown away!! Having read a recent review we decided to try and we weren't disappointed. We had a takeaway vegetarian Thali and we couldn't fault anything. Everything was so hearty and cooked with love and we have a great selection of dishes to try. Having been to India twice we know what good authentic Indian food can taste like and this was just that. We will definitely be returning customers and will opt to dine in next time so we can the full in-house experience.

Last night, after 4 years living in Bicester, I have finally found an actual Indian restaurant that has the best authentic Indian cuisine in the area!! I've passed this restaurant many times during the daytime and savoured the delightful smells wafting through their doors, but never had the time to stop by. I've tried all the other curry houses in Bicester several times since I first moved here and have been so disappointed in the flavours and presentation, that I stopped going to curry houses. So last night when my husband suggested a curry night out, I said I would only go to Mirch Masala. The host, Shrishti, (it's very much a family affair) is very welcoming and hospitable which just adds to the delightful dishes which are beautifully presented. Shrishti's Indian food is made the way my own mother used to make it, with all the flavours and straight from the heart. Thank you for a wonderful evening Shrishti, it was lovely to meet you and your family. Finally at last, I can start eating curry out in a restaurant again and I'm already looking forward to the next visit!

This is by far the best Indian food I have ever tasted. It was wonderful, if you are in this area, it’s a must try and cannot be recommended highly enough.

Good Indian food. Shristhi does a great job of delivering what you ask for . We had dal chicken and potatoes- all were made well.

Ive just visited this lovely restaurant tucked away on a side street in bicester.i was so impressed with everything. the service and staff were amazing . the food was delicious. .it was one of my best experiences for a long time . well done ..

I stopped in to get dinner whilst I was away with work and was stunned by how great this little restaurant is. I love curry and couldn’t decide what I wanted, fortunately I was able to have a Thali which was a tasting menu type affair with 4 curries, rice and naan. The portion sizes were incredibly generous and the curries were all perfect, now I wish everywhere did this kind of menu. I’ll definitely be looking for excuses to visit Bicester again, if only to have another great curry.

The restaurant is small and unpretentious, but the food is fabulous! Just one lady runs it - she welcomes you, takes your order, cooks the food and serves you, and does it all with a smile. The atmosphere she creates is friendly and informal and the food is really delicious. Unusual dishes, tasty mix of flavours. If I lived closer, I would definitely be a regular here!

What a great find. So lovely to find a small, intimate restaurant with first class food. This Indian restaurant is so so authentic. It’s a small menu but covers all bases. Nice to see properly cooked curries not just a different spiced curry with protein. I had Lamb pasanda, my wife and daughter chicken korma. Pilaf rice, the best naan breads along with incredible onion bhaji and samosas which were just ok truthfully. Shristi is a scream, made for an entertaining evening. Her helper tonight was new, first shift but she coped really well under Shristis guidance. Testament to its quality and authenticity is the amount of Indian families eating there - always a good sign. All in all, we had a very enjoyable meal. Be sure to book as we saw about 3 or 4 groups not be as lucky as we were and couldn’t be accommodated. Thank you, we will be back.

We have been unable to find a good Indian takeaway for some time but thanks to Mirch Masala our search is over. We enjoyed the best food we have ever eaten from this small but oh so friendly restaurant, it was absolutely delicious. The onion bhaji was to die for. Can’t praise the food enough, needless to say we will be back! Thank you Shrishti.

We recently visited this little restaurant in Bicester after two week long holidays in UK. Sumptuous food cooked with so much care and personal attention by master chef Shristi. In my travel diary the food of "Mirch Masala Rasoi" will be marked as one of the most authentic Indian food out of country. This is by far the finest Indian restaurant in Bicester. Small place, so do not forget to book the table before you go there. Highly recommended for vegetarian food too. Daal Makhani and Paneer Butter Masala were 10 on 10. Must visit if you are in Bicester town.

Fantastic food but to get this food you will wait the best curry I've ever had in England But you need to be patient A little bit expensive but the result is worth waiting for You don't get enything free not even a popadom 10 out of 10

Pleased to report this great little restaurant is still the finest Indian food in Bicester - we really should visit more often ! If you’ve not discovered the intimate atmosphere, the very warm welcome by your expert host, and the amazing culinary experience, then make sure you book - they appear to be full every night they’re open ! Great dinner for a bunch of car nerds, amazing what delicious food can come out of a tiny kitchen. Great Biryani and sides, naans and bhajis.

Best Indian restaurant I have been to in years. Shristi welcomed us while she was about to close and happily agreed to make dinner for us. She cooked fresh food that you could easily tell. The food were like home cooked food NOT business-oriented-restaurant-food made out of heavy cream as you find in many restaurants. She courteously waited just for us to finish our meals- an example that business is not just to make money but to provide a service as well. All food we got were superb- Thanks Shristi !!! Oh yes, she is very personable and a great human being.

a wonderful culinary journey in the very center of Bicester, I am a huge fan of curry, and the work of the owner and chef, who prepares dinner for you from start to finish using the best ingredients, with heart and passion, the end result is astonishing. Very small but wonderful restaurant, what a hidden gem. Service was super friendly, we felt very special. All home cooked from scratch and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

Went there with my friend yesterday and we had the best time. The cosy atmosphere, delicious and reasonably priced food was amazing but our host, working all by herself- doing the cooking and serving, was the loveliest, politest lady ever! It really makes somewhere so much more enjoyable when the employees (it was her restaurant) are as welcoming as she was!

Superb food. Certainly the best home cooked Indian food I have eaten outside of India. Every dish was bursting with flavour and simply delicious. Service was incredibly friendly- it was like going to a friend's house for dinner. Cant recommend this enough.

Fabulous food and all freshly cooked to order, so you can adjust to your taste. Simply wonderful and great value. A great range of menu and as I said cna be tailored to your individual tastes. As it is fresh, it is not fast so sit tight and enjoy the evening.

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! Booked a table for 2 for my birthday last night and it was an exceptionally good move. We’ve been to all the Indian restaurants in Bicester over the years and have never become ‘regulars’ at any of them because they are all a bit, well, meh. I have travelled all over India and experienced a wide range of both local artisans and world renowned restaurants. This is by far, the nicest Indian cuisine I have ever tasted. We ordered a good range of things so we could get as full a picture as possible. Every dish was divinely different to the next and the flavours were frankly, astonishing. Piquancy in some dishes, rich, unctuous and sumptuous in others. The surroundings are simple and homely and our hosts couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. If you are reading this, you are only 1 call away from the best Indian food you will ever eat. Don’t be swayed by the fancy surroundings of the other options in Bicester. A taste sensation awaits you at Mirch Masala.

Very accommodating & friendly service here. The chai Tea was really tasty, but most importantly, the food was delicious! Don’t expect fast food here; there can be a wait as the hostess (and chef) will let you know. It is cooked to order and that is certainly reflected in its flavour! The Onion Bhaji were excellent, crispy yet soft in the middle and not greasy. Simply great. Main course was cooked with care, lovely depth of flavour and the vegetables still had some bite to them which always helps with fresh food like this! Rice & naan were also very tasty. We would definitely come here again. It’s different to your usual curry house tastes, with that real home cooked flavour. Thank you for providing a lovely evening. If we could give any suggestions, it would be heating the dining area a little more, & perhaps making some of the tables more private - the restaurant is comprised of one room and quite snug. This depends on preference of course.

We have been meaning to visit this place since November and finally got the time to go for dinner last night! Words cannot describe how delicious the food was. Let alone the amount of food you get for your money! The onion bhajis are the best I have ever tasted!!!!! ( not your usual ball of flour you get from the high street 'Indian' (Bangladeshi restaurants)) This is proper Indian food! Family run business which adds the personal touch. The owner/ chef and hostess really is the nicest and funniest lady you could come ever meet. Nothing was too much trouble. The food is so fresh, prepared and cooked to order. We will def be back (most probably on a weekly basis) YES IT IS THAT GOOD!
