A great Chinese restaurant with great food and friendly helpfu staff. Meals were served promptly and efficiently and staff were very attentive. Prices are very reasonable. An overall excellent experience.

This is a review for a takeaway meal so there are no comments about the restaurant food or service. We ordered two meals, one chicken fried rice and one special fried rice. Both were disappointing in their content consisting mostly of rice with very little evidence of meat. In the special version, there were six thin strips of chicken, 4 small prawns, diced ham, and (I think) diced pork and no beef. Basically this was an expensive dish of rice. It was also very dry. Ditto the chicken fried rice dish. We have used Minhs for years and have noticed the prices going up which is fair enough with current price rises in utilities and food but Minhs would do better if they reduced their portion size a little and supplied better quality dishes than underdeliver in such a way. Sorry Minhs, no more business from us. I can only hope that other locals raise concerns if they have them and prompt some improvement.

Don’t go ! The food was awful - we have been many times but tonight the food was dry, overcooked and tasteless. When we called to feedback because we care and were so disappointed we were met with rudeness and an accusatory response. Expected to drive the food back and prove our feedback ! Hockley Heath is just up the road - try there instead ! This place has gone to pot sadly.

I haven’t been to Minh’s for a long time and I was surprised how much the prices had increased. The service was friendly and helpful and the food enjoyable but I felt the rice - £7 a portion was overpriced.

Can midweek for a birthday meal, service was very good, really quick. Food was lovely, we all had a few different dishes, all very nice. Prices are high for what we had hence the 4 stars. All enjoyed our meal but felt some of the dishes were not worth the money.

Having read the reviews on this site we decided to book for here instead of having a take away locally. We were shown to our table straight away but the noise was horrendous so much so I almost left immediately there was a baby crying for the whole of our meal which was most off putting to say the least. In its favour and trying to be fair our starters were lovely which was a good start but the two main courses were not good at all the sizzling fillet steak was definitely not fillet wrong cut wrong taste and we definitely would have not had that amount for the price the duck dish was a little better but was very fatty and the dish overall was tasteless the best part were the vegetables and I began wishing I had had a vegetarian dish. Overall I was totally disappointed with the noisy venue and the pricey meal certainly not the place for romance . We do not recommend and will not return

Had a lovely meal here tonight, been a while since I’ve had a Cantonese meal as I’m gluten free. The restaurant will do what they can to provide a beautiful gluten free meal, had a lovely evening and left feeling happy with the lovely food that eaten tonight.

From the greeting to the end , couldn’t fault the staff, the food , the liqueur coffee, a very pleasant dinning experience

Our first, and last, visit. Arrived a few minutes before 7pm, as booked, and by 8.40pm had only been served starter, 1 beer and glass of water. Staff offered no explanation and their perfunctory apology showed us that our complaint was commonplace to them. Why accept so many bookings when they clearly hadn't enough staff and expected customers to wait indefinitely?

Beautiful food and good service. First time we have eaten here and we had a great meal. All the portions were very generous and each dish was well flavoured and tasty. Usually a run of the mill nothing special dish the Cantonese Sweet and Sour Pork was the best I have had in ages, the coating on the meat was crisp and the sauce wasn’t sickly sweet it had a really good sour tang. Loved their satay sauce too.

My friends and I enjoyed a lovely set meal for three which offered good value for money. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and excellent.

We booked here for an early Saturday night birthday meal as a party of 9. The food and service were pretty good. We ended up having 2 versions of the set meals and the food was plentiful and of a high quality (though suspect the use of lots of MSG as we were very thirsty after!).The main waiter was attentive but perhaps a little over-attentive leaving some of our party a little uncomfortable - a lesson in 'less is more' might work better.However we would visit again!

I visit here once every 2-3 months. The food is okay, quite salty and can be quite oily. However whenever my friend comes over, she says the vegetarian options are very good. The service is always great and when I’ve eaten in, the food seems to be better cooked (but usually the case with takeaway meals). The prices is also very expensive for Chinese food, and the price varies even on the same dishes - I think it’s down to who serves you. Although not the best Chinese food I’ve eaten, it’s the best Chinese in Dorridge and Knowle.

We have visited Minh's a number of times, with visitors and family, always consistent in its offer and service, recommended although the kids hanging around the next door Tesco's are a nuisance. In the evening parking is easy

We used to visit this restaurant a lot. It was excellent and then it suddenly got expensive, the food and service went down hill big style. After a long break 5+ years we were eventually persuaded to try it again by friends, so eventually we did. On returning we found the food was excellent, as was the service and cleanliness back up to standards although they had increased their prices quite significantly, we felt, although overpriced it was worth it. We went several times over 6 months and even took friends and used it for a business dinner for some overseas visitors. We went again last Saturday night to find sadly they had increased their prices again. It is in our opinion now far toooo.... expensive. At the end of the day it is a Chinese restaurant and takeaway and as good as the food is, rice costs pennies and there have been no significant food price increases that I am aware of. Therefore no reason for the increase in prices in my opinion.

My wife and I were staying near Dorridge and decided to get a takeaway from this restaurant. We ordered two shredded beef and rice. When we got to the restaurant we found it very hard to park so I ran out of the car and got the food as my wife drove around. The food was ready when I got there so I paid and left. When we got back to our appointment and plated it the sauce on the beef was jelly like and the beef was well over cooked most of it tasting burnt. Wouldn't use again.

Popped in for a takeaway and found the food arrived very quickly. Food was delicious, spring rolls hot and crunchy while the salt, pepper and chilli wings were an outstanding starter. Parking easy outside

We have been coming here for years and the food is consistently good, The staff are very friendly and it is so nice to have good quality table cloths and proper napkins. Excellent selection of food all cooked specially for you hot and very tasty. We love the Chicken Yuk Sung and the Ribs in plum sauce followed by the deep fried Chicken with lemon sauce and house special rice.

We have visited this venue numerous times in 10 years. It offered a take-away and in house dining option, advisable to book though during the week (except Fridays) it is generally easy to arrive without booking. The food is good enough, not high-end, pricing imo is a little high for what you get/relative to other options, but not unreasonably so. The interior needs investment, whilst not shabby it is looking dated and in need of some attention. The service is okay, I have had to wait for a long time on a number off occasions and they have forgotten to prepare my meal twice before now - adding to these delays, but that aside, it's the main Cantonese option in Dorridge and one of only two in the wider Knowle/Dorridge area. If you seek a decent Cantonese, it's worth a visit.

Booked a table for 7.30 for 3 people , was told they were closing for a month after tonight and it was busy but they could accommodate. We arrived on time and it took 30 mins to order a drink, then another 15 to order food. Starters arrived at 8.45 but by 9.40 still no mains so we were losing our appetite as it was so late so we asked them to box it all up as a takeaway and we would have it the next day. The portions arrived on plates initially and were huge by the time they got put in a box they were half the size! The bill came to £83 because we had waited so long for food, it was a hot night and we had a few drinks so the bill racked up on drink. We asked for lemonade and lime and it was flat! We have been to Minhs since 2000 and the place is looking very tired and worn. The owner needs to spend money on doing the place up and spend money on additional staff, rather than a months holiday. It was dreadful service and there was no apology, no money off the bill. We will not be returning even though the food was good, what we had. It would have been 1 star had the food been terrible.

Having been to this venue on numerous occasions my wife, myself and our friends knew that, unless things had changed drastically for the worse since our last visit then, we would have a very enjoyable evening and an excellent meal.

We went to Minh's for our anniversary and chose one of their set meals for two.It was delicious.Good service,quality linen and value for money.The one thing that needs to said is the toilets are in a desperate need to be updated,clean but shabby.Therfore we have had to mark Minh's down.

I've been here around 4 times, beautiful food in a beautiful village, but the decor and service sour the taste. Wallpaper in some parts stuck back on with sellotape, vertical blinds in the window are outdated and unfriendly, fake plastic carnations on the table to name but a few awful things. Service is slow, each time we needed some service we had to flag for it, and then our drink was forgotten once so we had to flag for it again. The food is absolutely beautiful, but you do pay a top rate price for it. Both the decor and the service would put me off bringing a large group there.

Saturday evening 6:45pm I would have expected a decent service. I’m writing this review at 21.57! Dreadful service from start to finish .... long long wait from starter to main course. Complained to waiter who said it was because it was a Saturday evening. Sat for over 30 mins waiting for main course dishes to be taken away ... more lengthy waiting for coffee and bill. Food ok but as a dining experience forget it . The waiter said he would tell the manager but no acknowledgement from manager at all who was on the premises.

I've visited Minh's restaurant a couple of times and I can honestly say the food here is some of the beat Chinese food I've enjoyed.

Parking is not easy and the external facade might put one off, however those issues are removed when entering. There is ample seating arrangements that can accommodate a couple to large parties and the decor is not over stated. The white tablecloths are removed at the end of the meal, with the used crockery and cutlery, to reveal a blue damask tablecloth - the vase of flowers remain.

Dined out with my wife, daughter and good friends. I had the hot and sour soup, wholesome and delicious. Shredded beef with soft noodles and rice for main.

We paid a visit early Sunday. There is much to like about this Restaurant; it looks a lot nicer inside than out and most of food they serve is of a very good quality. The prices appear fairly reasonable for eating in and there appears to be a good following here.

The food here is superb, tasty, rich in flavour, it's the best in the local area....however the service of some of the staff is below grade. Some of them are rude, lack basic customer skills, tall to you as if you're a piece of rubbish on their shoe and above all else are just rude....its a shame that they don't learn to treat their customers with respect as this would make it a 5 star establishment.

I've eaten in a few times, great service and food, but I and my friends and family have used the take away more times than I can remember, they are great in switching a dish from the set menu to something you'd rather, always timely and efficient and if asked nicely on collection you'll get your fortune cookies too. The food quality is great and the place is an all rounder really. You may not think it but in the corner of the "old" square, it is a great restaurant and a great take away to boot (parking can be challenge to collect is all I would say.)

Nearly every Saturday we eat here. It's the best Chinese around. Although 90% of the time food is not ready on time for collection, or they don't understand what has been said on the phone. However, it is still amazing food! Highly recommended.

The food is always fresh and tasty. My favourite is the Kong Mein Sizzler with crispy noodles & my husband's favourite are the paper wrapped spare ribs. Can not fault the service within the restaurant and also for take away. Never a long wait, no matter how busy they are.

Usually order a take-away on Saturdays but have also had sit down meals. While slightly higher priced than surrounding Chinese restaurants the food is worth it. The service is great, brilliant selection of food, starters, mains and sharers. Good atmosphere also.

Whenever we want to eat a Chinese meal, whether a take away or a meal in the restaurant, we always go to Minhs. Everything is usually spot on. The welcome, the service, the quantity and quality of the food are always provided with a smile. Excellent. They are incapable of telling the time and managing expectations: if an order is going to take an hour then the response is it's going to be an hour not thirty minutes and offer no gesture while you wait. Appalling

Went to this restaurant on spec after being recommended to go by a colleague. Upon arrival a pleasing sign was that it was busy even though it was only 18:30. Greeted by a friendly and cheerful lady who showed us to our table and service was impeccable throughout. Nice bit of banter with one of the waiters and a relaxing atmosphere. Went for a set dinner and it was very very nice and all the food was tasty and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this place as somewhere to go for a causal meal and I personally look forward to going here again. 5 STAR RATING.

We have just been for dinner with our son, and our friends with their children. We had a good sized round table, which is always more sociable than a rectangular one. The waiters were instantly attentive, but not over the top. They were quick to bring drinks out and take our order. Each family had the set meal for 2. We asked to change a few of the dishes, which they were happy to do so. The food came out at steady intervals, and the portion sizes were good. We did order a few extra dishes too. All of the children tried new dishes and happily polished off their food. There was plenty to eat for all of us. We were all pleased with the quality of the food and service. The prices are at the higher end of average but definitely worth it.

Once again a fantastic meal with great, friendly service, we all had the set meal which was more than enough and great value, even took a doggy bag home!

Recently moved to the area and was a bit nervous trying out local takeaways, but we've found a family favourite!

Recently dined here based on positive reviews on TA. I have to say that the food here is pretty poor. The starter was still partially frozen and the main courses were luke warm and insipid. I certainly won't be back here again. Service was good though hence adding another start to my rating.

Took a take out from Minh's as our normal Cantonese was closed due to a family wedding. Wasn't disappointed, ordered whilst there and only waited around 10 mins for food. (£40 order) Noodles were great as were king prawn in sweet and sour. My mum and dad were up and loved it too. We will be back.

Place seems to have been the same for years, the interior is tired and the menu and set meals rarely changed. Some of the staff are ok others are not the friendliest. They also seem to find it hard to take down orders correctly and it's best to always check the bill. For typical UK Chinese it is ok, but given its location it could aim to be much better.

I took my friends for Supper yesterday evening. It was our first visit to Minh's. We were all a little concerned of what to expect as restaurant and the cuisine, but our concerns were soon put to rest.The decor was very nice so we were pleased with that but the food was exceptional. I have to say the best Chinese Restaurant I have eaten for a very long time. Will definitely be going back soon.Thank You Minh's for a lovely evening.

Visited many times whilst working at NEC, and apart from china town in London, in my opinion one of the best Chinese restaurants in the UK. Great food, great service and reasonably priced

WOW.....what can you say. We visited for my birthday and I have to say it's honestly the best Chinese food I have ever had. The staff were fabulous as was the service .I would definitely recommend and will be going again. Loved it.

First time coming here and we came on Father's Day! Food was incredible, I personally had the beef curry (amazing!!) but my sister had the sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style and it was to die for!Incredibly friendly service and they are all very attentive. First time we've eaten here. Friendly welcome staff very polite. To celebrate my Daughter's birthday. We ordered a set meal for 4 people. You only need the set meal for 3. Food was cooked to perfection excellent. They brought the birthday cake out with candles + they sang happy birthday to her. Very impressed we will return.

My wife, family and assorted friends have been regular users of this great restaurant for over ten years. We have never been disappointed and have use the restaurant at the busiest of times and the less so.Each time we have been we have received a genuine and a warm welcome. The service is always friendly, helpful and efficient. The quality of the food is always top rate and you can almost guarantee that whenever you go the food will be excellent. Booked for 5 people and a high chair for 5pm when they open.We arrived a couple of minutes to five (door had been wide open 5 minutes previously) closed sign was showing but we pushed the door open and pleasantly apologised for being a little early, the male staff member told us to give them a couple of minutes.We used cash point right outside and stood waiting, the open sign was put on and they walked away, it would have been nice when they saw us there to have opened the door and welcome us in.The male staff member, who we felt had a bit of an attitude problem, told us that although we'd booked a high chair they only had 1 and it was booked onto another table at 6. We were considering going somewhere else, but a nice femail staff member said we could use the high chair, but they'd need it for 6, so that was fine.Last time we ate here, probably about 12 months ago, we had booked their high chair, to find someone else had been given it, who had turned up without a booking. We were about to leave but the people using the chair kindly gave it up. This left an awkward atmosphere, I felt, for the rest of the time we were there.The femail staff members are very friendly and attentive, seeing when my husbands glass was empty and asking if he wanted another drink. Some places leave you sitting there with no drink for ages!Service was fairly swift and the food we received was very nice and tasty. The male staff member needs take note of how the femail staff members treat customers and they also need to invest in another highchair (or booster seat)We did enjoy our meal and will eat here again, but will leave it a while before we do so.

Food was all fine, good standard and service....however, I object to seeing babies being changed on restaurant tables when i am eating and being told 'it's due to a lack of facilities, complain if you want'.

This doesn't even warrant 1 mark, but I can't continue unless i put something in. Ordered stuffed mushrooms (mushrooms with minced prawns, deep fried in a crispy batter served with spicy sauce) got mushrooms, onions, carrots in tasteless watery sauce. My other dish was fried soft noodles, this also has onions. Thanks for taking my money & giving me completely the wrong dish. I can honestly say this was the most appalling take away i have ever had.

Excellent takeaway from this restaurant with a wide range of typical but delicious Chinese food. Slightly expensive but perhaps we over ordered! Opens early which is useful. Have used many times and eaten in once which was excellent.

Eight of us had dinner at this old favourite and as ever, it delivered. We had two set menu's across the group and the dishes were all great. Good value for money and very friendly service as usual.

If they aren't willing to do a takeaway at 9 o'clock at night, they should shorten the times. I was met by disgruntled staff and ended up returning home to my pregnant wife with over-cooked food
