I come here quite a lot, as the food and atmosphere is great. Usually having the same salad superfood bowl, I changed it up to sourdough, avocado and halloumi with poached egg. Really delicious. Green tea alongside and wish that had been a slightly bigger pot but nonetheless a delicious late lunch. Oh and the fruit and nut cake…where to start on that one!! Percentage of cake was minimal as the fruit and nut incredible amount. Really delicious

Love this place normally but on our last visit we came across a rude waiter with attitude . Normally our drinks have been served before breakfast arrives on previous visits and because this time they hadn’t when the waiter ‘plonked’ our food down and walked away without saying anything at all, I politely said “we’ve also ordered drinks” The waiter replied quite abruptly saying “ yes yes yes they’ll be here , just wait a minute “ Wow! Rude ! All he had to say when serving our food was ‘ your drinks are on the way , or I’ll just get your drinks’ but it was the plonking of the food down in silence and his rude attitude that was so unprofessional. Then when he brought our drinks and I thanked him he ignored me however , when my friend thanked him , he made a big point of thanking them saying “YOU’RE very welcome” Quite childish response we felt. Shame about this experience because normally lovely and the chap who was taking orders was a delight and the food was good.

A friday afternoon seemed to be 'yummy mummy' time, with lots of young mothers and babes in arms. I ate a fabulous cream cheese breakfast pastry of some sort - one of the best breakfast pastries I have eaten in a while. Follow that with cheesy beans on toast (which could hav e been a bit 'wetter') and good coffe, and what more can you ask? High speed free wifi accompanied by an evident willingness to let you sit and work over a coffee or two and this will be a new haunt.

Lovely building/location. All the staff seemed bored with answering any questions, concerning seating or menu items or specials. Sandwiches were mainly bread. Ridiculous filling/bread ratio. Bacon and sausages were tasty, but make sure you buy two sandwiches…then throw away half the sourdough slabs. Onion bhaji sandwich had the same problems, aswell as bhaji being burnt to a crisp. I normally give feedback, but couldn’t be bothered with more staff disinterest. Such a shame, considering the cafe’s potential

There are many coffee shops in the area but for an Oat Latte there is no better place in my opinion. The same goes for their breakfast menu. The bacon sandwich in particular is the tastiest I’ve ever had! The cakes and loaves are also outstanding quality. I appreciate the main menu isn’t the cheapest around but it is quality food at good value. Whether grabbing a coffee to go or bringing the whole family for a sit down meal, it is my favourite place to visit. It has plenty seating inside and out, accessible for wheelchairs and prams, cool contemporary decor and all staff are very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended

I have been to this cafe several times with my son. We like it so keep coming back. Mill Kitchen always seems busy so is clearly popular with the locals. It has an interesting menu with some healthy but tasty sounding options which appeal to me. I had a salad bowl which was delicious and followed up with a peanut butter cookie. The coffee was good too. The staff were friendly and our food came quickly. I like the atmosphere of this cafe and there is a large outside eating area which was unfortunately full when we visited as it was a lovely sunny day. We bought a really good sour dough loaf to take home. We will be calling in again on our next visit to Farsley.

We came for lunch on a Sunday. It was really busy but we got a seat in the window. I ordered the super salad, and my partner had the ham and cheese toastie. We were warned it would be a long wait, and it was. I did see some tables that ordered after us get their food first, which was annoying. The coffee came out quickly and was lovely. The salad was very disappointing and not worth the money. It was basically all lettuce and tomatoes with a small dolop of hummus. The toastie was good but not worth the wait. The breakfasts that came out looked good though. The only issue is everything is on sourdough, which is so tough to eat. Because of that and the very small salad, we won't be returning.

When this place first opened it was absolutely fab: interesting food, great coffee, tasty ingredients well prepared. We have been 4 or 5 times and probably won't go back again as it seems to get worse each time we go. Ingredients being used are clearly cheaper as they no longer pack the flavour (e.g. watery tomatoes, cheap ham etc). Portions also seem to be getting smaller - I never complain about portion sizes (it drives me spare when people do so on reviews) but this place is bordering on taking the mickey.

Ate here this morning after hearing good things about it. The building is really nice and food was ok but it just wasn’t worth the 45 minute wait and the hefty price tag (almost £25 for two breakfasts and coffees). I had the baked eggs with the spiced lamb (£3 surcharge). The eggs themselves were tasty but the ‘spiced lamb’ was one chopped up meatball which was overpowered with fennel and didn’t go with the rest of the flavours. My partner had the ‘full breakfast’ which looked a bit sad. They also charge extra for their beans which seems a bit tight. Coffees were okay but sizes were way too small and we finished ours a good 20 minutes before our food arrived. All in all, I wouldn’t rush back.

Somehow this created an atmosphere which cut the air and put a damper on the proceedings. Not having visited before I enquired as to what options were available for children. "On the menu" I was told! Whilst this is true, there were no menus on the tables! One was located on the front of the counter and I was directed to page 3! The food took ages to appear and the £3.75 bacon sandwich was a large bread cake with 2 small stiff slices of bacon inside. The tea (£2.20 a pot) filled a single cup and the childrens meals were ..... well ...... very small. Over £18 in total leaving me feeling like the staff looked!

Nice enough but very pricey. The coffee is good, and well made, but it is served in only a small glass (which quite a few other reviews have also mentioned) so if you are used to having a medium latte you'll be needing to buy two, and that will cost you a fiver. For me the small cup makes the coffee way too strong. We go to a lot of independent cafes in Leeds and Bradford and this is definitely at the very high end of the price band. I'm happy enough to pay for quality, but adding £1 on to toast just because you are gluten free is a lot. I don't think I've ever paid £3.50 in a café for toast. I think next time it'll be back to the lovely Brown-Green's in Rawdon, Toast in Ilkley, or any of the great cafes in Chapel Allerton.

Yum! Wonderful bacon sarnies with lovely crisp bacon and very nice bread. What more can I say? Nice and spacious, especially if you are going with children - it seems very welcoming. Not very keen on coffee in a glass - but they will do to order in cups if you ask. Nice selection of salads and cakes - although have found some of them a little bit dry at times.

Called in for coffee and cake, ordered an americano which came in a very small cup (£2.20) which was about 3/4 full we had to ask for more milk to get a decent drink. The coffee was nice, and the cake was very good too, but I'm sure the size of the drink could be improved. Probably wouldn't go again. The lady who served me was very friendly, but the young girl at the counter as we went in, didn't smile or say hello.

The Americano coffee was so disappointing- a small cup, 2/3 full, not very hot and I had to ask for milk. Flavour ok but not memorable. The Gruyere bacon and egg sandwich was open topped i.e. one slice of cheese on toast with bacon topped with an egg was the most expensive snack I have ever seen at £7.50. Quiche and salad at the same price was lovely. A proper lunch. The mill could be a great place if they were consistent. Be mindful what you order.

I have eaten at Mill Kitchen weekly over the past few months and feel compelled to write a review in the hope that they listen. Recently there has been a lack of consistency in the quality of the food, one week it's excellent and the following week it's poor - I tend to order the same thing so I feel I can satisfactorily come to this conclusion. On a good day, the food at Mill Kitchen is absolutely delicious, and on a bad day it's pretty poor and I feel ripped off as it's not cheap. I'm not sure whether there has been a change in chef or whether I've just been when their usual chef has a day off. I also dislike how they display their cakes on the counter, with no cover, where people queue up to order so they can cough and sneeze all over them. How does that count as hygienic? Also, flies do get into the cafe (as you would expect) but how can they be sure that the flies don't dance all over the cakes if they aren't covered? It's a small thing that could be rectified so easily. And finally, the coffee. They serve delicious North Star coffee in ridiculous sized cups. An Americano costs £2.20 and is served with 2 shots in a small cup rendering it far too strong. A larger cup would allow for more water, and would thus produce a more enjoyable coffee worthy of the £2.20 price tag. I have no idea why they have the one size cup fits all drinks policy. Overall, if you visit Mill Kitchen on a good day you won't be disappointed. It would just be good to know which days they are.

Went here for brunch on a Sunday and was definitely impressed with the space for eating in, the coffee was good and staff were lovely. The food wasn't as great as I had hoped but it was ok, I had Sweetcorn fritters with bacon. Fritters and egg were good but the rocket salad addition was kinda pointless, maybe had they not been out of tomatoes it might have made that not so boring, and the bacon was really overdone and dry, which can be nice say with pancakes and syrup but less with a dry fritter. I also had a pear and almond cake made with spelt flour which was ok, all their cakes were on the spectrum of healthier options which is good for some but didn't float my boat. I hope to try again sometime as I really did like lots about it, despite my minimal gripes.

I went to Scrap with my partner and son and we got hungry so we decided to go to the Mill Kitchen which is practically next door. We both ordered the sweetcorn and polenta fritters, one with Avocado the other with haloumi and we were not disappointed. They were 10/10 , cooked to perfection and really flavourful. I ordered a black coffee with milk separate and it was the worst coffee I've ever had in a cafe or restaurant. I put it on par with Asda own basic coffee granules which we have at my work and I avoid like the plague. My 3 year old had a cheese sandwich with apple and crisps and the bread was really thick top end stuff but my son couldn't get his mouth round it to bite into it so he ended up picking at it. They should give young children normal size bread in in my opinion. It gets extremely busy and in the one hour we were in there it was full and roughly 20 people came in and saw there were no free tables and left. I will happily go back here again for the great food .

Myself and my wife and our young son have have visited The Mill Kitchen on numerous occasions.. not only is it great food but a wonderfully welcoming relaxed environment. My wife breastfed our son, he never touched a drop of formula and been first-time parents it's not easy to have the confidence to breastfeed in public, with comments such as the previous reviewer 'kitesurferman' it's clear to see why mothers find public breastfeeding so difficult. This person should be utterly ashamed, it's precisely what is wrong with the world.. why anyone would find comforting a child and giving he or she what he or she needs unnacapetble to do in public is beyond me.. I find it so insulting that this individual thinks that it's in the childs detriment to feed him or her in view of everyone in the café... the child is asking to be fed so mother feeds child, why should she go to her car or go sit in a toilet cubicle.. why do you (kitesurferman & the othet people that got up and left) get to sit in comfort drinking coffee while she sits in a cramped environment just so your not disgusted or disappointed. I urge all new mums to visit this wonderful café, enjoy themselves and breastfeed openly and comfortably... while having a nice coffee and abit of cake. I also urge Mill Kitchen to promote breastfeeding & not listen to prats like KITESURFERMAN..

I absolutely LOVE this place. It's my go-to cafe and a place I'd choose to go over many others. No, it's not the cheapest, but I had one of the best blueberry pancakes I've ever eaten there and you definitely get your money's worth. The staff are lovely and they are 100% natural with no fake smiles or niceties. I go there with my mum for a coffee, with my husband and baby and to meet friends. It's the most dynamic space.Anyone who has a problem with children being present in such places, needs to think about what they are saying.Do they expect babies and children to stay at home until they are of an appropriate "cafe age." What age would that be? 18? 21? Unfortunately for them, I intend to teach my child social skills, interaction and confidence in public situations. This is the perfect place to do it.As for anyone who takes issue with breastfeeding mothers, you should be ashamed.Breastfeeding is not "new age" it is in fact the oldest and most natural form of nourishment for a baby.Kite surfer man, why are you sexualising a baby having his/her lunch?Do you send kite surfer wife to the smelly toilets to feed your offspring?Get out while you can kite surfer wife!

Love this place, great quality and flavour. However the stingy portion sizes raised a few eyebrows yesterday.Half full coffee cups, tiny toasties and stingy portion sizes. Maybe they were near the end of service and didnt have much left, but £6.75 for a toastie the size of your palm, with no garnish, is poor in anyones book.Really hope they dont start down this route (or cutting quality) in cost saving measures, will definately put me off returning.Such a shame as it was a little gem of a place.

We took our family here for lunch, as the venue looks good from the outside and it was fairly local. The food was very good and we were served relatively quickly. However we were unimpressed by menus being unavailable on the table, no teaspoons provided with the coffee served by the waiting staff, the waitress leaning right over the table when serving the food to the individuals on the opposite side of the table, etc. Also on a Sunday afternoon it was just full of young children and quite noisy. Overall we enjoyed the food here, but there could have been improvements made in the running of the cafe. It is however a pleasant enough venue with plenty of car parking.

I visited recently with my family and as always was pleased with the high standard of food, cleanliness and service. I was SO happy on my latest visit to see a breastfeeding mother welcomed; it is brilliant to visit a breastfeeding friendly establishment where even the youngest members of our society can eat in an open, clean and pleasant environment x

We always have an excellent experience at the Mill kitchen. However today was spoilt by a mother who thought it was acceptable to expose herself in front of the whole room. Four people walked straight out when they saw it and another couple sat down and then told us they were disgusted and left. This sort of behaviour is wrong no matter how much the mother thinks she is 'new age.' It is frowned upon in London and mothers are told to either bring it in a bottle or use the facilities. Why this mother thought it was acceptable to expose us all to it and show such s disregard for the child and those around here I'll never know. It Is 2017 not 1917... disappointed and hope the Mill kitchen stops this before they all start...

I call in to the Mill Kitchen when I can, it's lovely to see somewhere with a different and changing food menu that isn't city centre based. The food is always great, salads aren't typical bowl of leaves with chopped up veg - always lovely Ottelenghi-esque big dishes of great seasonal produce. Coffee is always good (just seen a review about instant espresso... Eh? It's always been fresh ground beans from their coffee machine when I have visited) and every visit the coffee seems to get better and better. I try and vary what I eat, but generally get tempted by the Ox cheek sandwich and a mug of whatever soup is on that day. I try avoid the busiest times as there can be a wait, but I do that with everywhere and know full well the wait is down to the fresh preparation of all of the food and drinks. I'll be returning, often.

I love coming to this cafe. The food is different and especially as a vegetarian gives you lots of different options instead of the usual cheese on toast! I would definately recommend their salads and the dark hot chocolates. It's kid friendly as I go often with my son and other friends ak so with young babies. They have changing facilities. They also hold community family friendly events. Dogs are also allowed in. Also another plus is there is alot of produce you can buy their such as local beers and wine which make great gifts.highly recommended! !

We live locally and are lucky to be able to walk here for brunch on a weekend.. Everything I have tried on the menu so far has been great, especially the salads which are different every time I've been there and also anything with eggs is a winner. I like that the ingredients are fresh and organic. They also sell some really good cook books which have hammered my bank balance

Mrs Bore and I had a salmon and ham sandwich respectively. Both really well prepared on fresh bread though just short of £10 each. The one thing preventing 5 stars is they had outside heaters that nearly singed my hair.
