Mill House in Flintshire

I’ve been ill twice after eating from here. First time me and my mum had the fish and both were ill the same night. Came again yesterday to try again and had the gammon and it smelt funny and now I’m ill again. Probably won’t be visiting again.

What a pleasant experience.. all the bar staff were happy and welcoming ... Sasha took my order and was accommodating with special requirements .... Ollie did a professional check back and I was informed that Tara had cooked our food. It was amazing, piping hot, well cooked and presented. Thank you all .. will definitely return

I really wish I could give here more than a one star since the front of house staff were absolutely great to say how busy they were, however the main purpose of going to a resturant is food. I went there on the 12/10/24 at 12:30, and if there was a proper chief in that kitchen at that time then they clearly don’t know what their doing. As shown in photo, the presentation of the food was awful. It immediately put me off my food. I work in a kitchen and I would never sent food out looking like that. Oil all around the lasagne, burnt garlic ciabatta. My father ordered a well done steak, got more of a medium rare. Same happened with my brother, ordered a medium well but got well done. These are mistakes that can be easily fixed, but as customers ruin the meal. It only takes more care given into the food to achieve a decent meal. Hope this place gets proper chiefs in that kitchen that have their priorities in the correct place.

Staff were very friendly, place was very clean and tidy, ordered the halloumi fries for starters and a steak and the food was delightful, would 100% recommend eating here 😊

Food ok had jug cocktail only filled half our glass so bit of a rip of waitress said it's for two and says on menu but it doesn't £13.50 for two half glasses bad plus took ages to order food at the bar really busy but only two staff behind the bar on a Saturday

Very poor service from start to finish ... waited over an hour for meals to come out .... when it arrived and we started eating food was still raw .. waitress spilled sauce all over my leg too .. Spoilt a day that was for my mother In laws birthday .. whole meal wasn't pleasant at all .. won't be returning.

Average chain pub/restaurant. Nothing special

Today was the second time I've been here in two months and the standard of food is just about edible. Last time we were here a meal had to be sent back but thought it was a one off.. Came back today and waited half an hour for the disappointment on a plate to be given to us. Used to be beautiful food from here too - so sad to see. Won't be coming back here in a hurry.

Service a little slow normal pub food

My friend's steak and ale pie was awful. The meat was not chewable at all. I had an all English Breakfast, and it was all undercooked. The pub you have by the Countess hospital has much better food

Arrived today, not one member of staff greeted us, was a horrible atmosphere not even asked if we wanted a drink, my 1 year old baby started crying, and got nothing but funny looks, didn't even bother staying felt uncomfortable and left for a much nicer family friendly pub

Service was very good for lunch time. Food was fine for what you pay for. Nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about either.

Nice restaurant in a convenient occasion, we used this for a Birthday occasion while visiting Chester. It did however take a week to get our reservation confirmed after countless phone calls and voice messages left. Also the staff completely missed a meal off the order and then tried to deny they had. Otherwise would recommend.

This was the second time we visited the pub in the past 6 months. The first visit wasn't great but we decided to give it another go( wish we hadn't now!) When we arrived it was busy, but not overly, but we did expect to wait a bit longer for our food to arrive as it was gone 1pm. We waited 50 mins until I asked where our meals were. Within mins our meals were at our table and cold. It looked like they had been sitting there and forgotten about. The young lad offered us another meal, but we said no as we wasn't prepared to sit for another 50 mins. He offered a refund and apologised. We noticed there were other ppl waiting for their food to arrive as well. Not great service and we know it can get busy, but this is the second time we left disappointed. We won't be returning.

Nice place, reasonably priced. Mac and cheese very tasty

Starter and mains. Starters of halloumi fries and garlic breaded mushrooms were ordered. The garlic breaded mushrooms were deep fried far too long, one shot across the plate, as it was so hard! Bacon cheeseburgers were flame grilled nicely though.

Food wasnt nice at all, couldnt cut through my steak even with a steak knife. Staff were blunt fast and quite rude and nobody asked how our meal was whilst we ate and it was so busy i would have to queue to mention tbe steak. Selection of food wasnt great not even a healthy option or jacket potato, all deep fried or american diner style food. I wouldnt come back.

Good value for money. Lovely service from Shabbs (sp?) and Ruby. Mushroom bake was really nice, flatbread was a bit soggy but good overall.

Young girl that was on has been amazing with us, even made my daughter a paper butterfly which is above and beyond. A credit to your team. (I didn't catch her name but she is a red head with glasses)

First visit to The Mill House since the recent change of management. The place has undergone some great changes, the atmosphere was welcoming and the staff provided service with a smile. The food has improved alot since my last visit so it is now my restaurant of choice when I visit Broughton Park in the future.

Had a lovely time at the Mill House, the manager Lisa was very helpful and answered all my questions. We had a meal with a drink and was welcomed by the lovely atmosphere.

Have been a few times over last couple of months and it has really gone down in my ranking! There are rat traps lying about, staff member stated there had been a problem with flies! Last time we were told steak for mixed grill was unavailable and so we would have to size up? No onion rings so would give extra chips (well if there was extra chips on our plate, then I couldn’t see them). We left a good gap between ordering desert, and yet when the desert arrived there was no room on table for all our left over food. Atmosphere was bleak, and my food was burned. Not normally a complainer, but used to really like this place!

Called in from coming from Warrington to look at Home shop, called in for lunch the place is really busy and the smell from sizzlers is lovely

Excellent food choice at a very good price.Staff can't do enough for you. mixed grill was fabulous. Drinks and food at a realistic price with staff that speak and know what they are doing. Found a little gem of a pub on our doorstep.

1 hour 30.mins wait for food, and they weren't even busy. Appeared to be only one person serving who were rushed off their feet. We nearly missed the start of our film. Never again.

The food was terrible, chips were undercooked, and the chicken was overcooked and dry they had most of the sides out of stock I orded on the app before the people I was with and they had finished their food before I got ours and the drinks took the same amount of time as the food the only good thing was the waitress nice and friendly but wouldn't recommend going to anyone waste of money

2 of our meals were not great at all.The roast dinner were cold, my niece threw up as it was that bad. Paid over £95 for five meals,I think we would have been better off going to macdonalds

They said 50min wait for food pub half empty over 1 HR still waiting for the food. Came over said that it's being plated up now still waiting 5mins later. Ppl came in after us & get served before us .

Staff were rude, food was putrid, as if the food had sat in the kitchen all day, would not recommend and certainly won't return.

What a change to this pub. Absolutely lovely sitting outside in the garden in the sun. And had a fabulous meal. We had the Fish and chips and a gammon which came on a SIZZLING platter both for £13.99 😍. Staff so nice and friendly and can't do enough for you. And spotless loos 😀

Had a lovely meal here with my mum. Service was all round very good but we had great service from Molly at the bar, she is a credit to you and the team.

Lovely afternoon spent at the Mill enjoying the sunshine. Amazing food served promptly and efficiently..... great, friendly service from the new Manager Lisa and the staff, especially Eliana at the bar and Ruby.... looking forward to our next meal there soon!

Called in the other day ordered lasagna that comes with salad and garlic bread.was told no garlic bread they run out ok would you substitute it for something else was told sorry no we don’t do that.said that’s not fair really is it was then told sorry it’s the rules.anyway ordered it anyway just as I’d finished my food after waiting nearly an hour was then told we’re sorry we got it wrong but next time you come in we make amends somehow I doubt you would remember so no real point tbh.wont be coming again my advice don’t bother terrible service and they just tell lies avoid.my advice read the reviews before you go just not good enough

Amazing food and beer Staff exceptional

Hi just like to say what a great improvement that Jill has brought to the mill house. Clean and pleasant out side area plat pots are welcoming and colourful. Toilets is a 💯 cleaner fresh smelling glowing sinks you can tell how much work has been put into this recently. Great staff well done all round. Fish and chips was delicious 😋

Excellent service by lovely staff...food was very good our steaks were cooked to perfection would recommend the steak skillets...great value for what you get and prices in other pubs elsewhere!!!

Just had an amazing Hunters chicken.. Toilets are spotless but still need a revamp. Flowers and dog station are lovely

After our last minute dash shopping tonight me and my partner went in for a bite to eat , Food was lovely, well presented and piping hot . We sat outside in the lovely beer garden were we was greeted by the new landlady Lisa what a lovely woman she made us feel welcome , We will certainly come back after this lovely experience

Thought they might have cleaned up toilets and freshed up in side I had flat bread lamb kofta never again could not chew or cut flat bread at all they never came to ask if all was OK till my family had finshed 2 bits of wet lettuce on it for £8.99 won't go again

Awful, 1 hr wait no food, not discount given or free dessert or anything to apologise, and after you wait 1hr you would assume the food would be outstanding, very wrong, my burger was way overcooked, struggled to eat it and i can eat litrally anything...avoid at all costs!!

I'm so sorry to post this as I've eaten there a few times in the past. .chicken wings cold at the bone. .sausages burnt and the really burnt bits sliced off. .pretty much the rest of it cold. I was told by the staff there was a back log on food even though the establishment was very empty, 10-15 people, was a good place.

We came to visit Lisa in her new pub. Really nice food and looks a lovely pub. Very busy lunchtime and we didn't wait for anything. Thank you

The food was awful service was great I was offered complimentary drink as compensation( which I declined and left, it was that bad)for the meal which had been left under a heatlamp I presume for far too long Also the gents toilet, well the smell from the out of service cubicles is enough to put you off your food alone. I nearly vomited after visiting after food and a drink before leaving. Many thanks #greenking

Disgraceful, had the misfortune to visit today waited 10-15 minutes for service , ordered food waited 30 ninutes ish, the chicken was cold dry and stringy the peas cold it was for me inedible. When the server finally came to check i invited her to taste it she got somewhat irrate and loud at my complaint stating its not her fault there are no staff, I ask her to lower her voice as she was embarrising us in front of others, she stated that the food she is not responsible for as it comes in part cooked and they basically re-heat it, really its chicken!. She offerd to replace it but at this stage i was ready to leave given my party had just about finished and given her statement had now lost favour with the establishment and certainly the service. The place was i guess 15-20% capacity . I at the time of leaving photographed the floor to shown its condition of spilt trod n food. in short HORENDOUS EXPERIENCE. I did leave with a refund.

Ordered Gammon and egg, food came it looked awful, Gammon was over cooked and tough, chips were cold and had either been recooked or over cooked, sent it straight back and requested a refund. I should have taken photos, i didn't think Jess who served me at the bar was really apologetic and sorted out my refund, it wasn't her fault, great service from Jess and her colleagues in the bar 👏

Chabs was great, looked after us the whole time. Friendly service and would go again

Had a lovely lunch here with husband. Despite being short staffed. The tables were clean and the service was not only fast but they were cheerful despite working incredibly hard. They did not stop the whole time we were there.

The food selection was appalling with the following unavailable 'no chips', 'no burgers', 'no Sunday roasts'. The table wasn't cleared of empty dishes or glasses. The toilets were absolutely filthy and there was no hand soap available in the gents, there was also a missing sink which was boarded over and tape holding down the floor tiles. Very disappointed.

We called in for a snack & a drink. Service was great. My wife is disabled, one of the staff came out & helped.getting her into the car. She was brilliant, well done

I when there today with my wife and 2 grandchildren aged 5 & 7 we had 16 boneless chicken wings so greasy could not eat them for mains kids meal burger and chips burger was rock hard could not eat it second meal 6 chicken nuggets and chip and peas chicken nuggets where black my granddaughter said they were the worse ones she has had she left 5 of them I had tikka mix plate PS you need to change your oil

Short on staff few that were there were friendly enough. Ordered meal when it came was asked if I needed anything, asked for bbq sauce, was told have to pay for sauce now. Meal ordered was American chicken burger, this was absolutely dreadful, it had been cooked that much you had to snap it to break it up it was just way to burned couldn't eat it, fries were soggy an partially cold. The other meal was gammon which was tuff and burned on one side for the griddle. I would have told staff that it was awful but no one came to see how our meal was. Instead we left out meals and went somewhere else to eat. Really disappointed Date visited 25.6.24

The place needs a good clean its filthy! toilets are disgusting and stink! there was no hand soap, disabled toilet was filthy looked like the mirror was wiped with a dirty cloth! Outside was littered with McDonald's bags and cups! the tables were filthy lots of empty glasses asked twice for the table to be wiped done it myself in the end! Staff standing around And to see that there was dogs allowed in it was actually sat on the seats not hygienic at all! This place has gone very down hill.

Love the Mill House. Needs to become a Hungry Horse though as HH Nachos are amazing. Food quality is excellent and it’s great ordering off the app. Very expensive for drinks, apart from coffees though.

The pub was busy, I would say short staffed with lots of families, and children running around, not ideal with possiblity of accidents with hot food being carried around, but not ideal for clients without children. My main issue is the pub was filthy, tables tacky and unclean, had to search for a clean menu. Glasses look warn and dirty, with smudges and drip marks. No soap in the ladies toilets, I did say to the bar staff, but didn't stay long enough to see if this had been refilled. Food - I had steak & ale pie, very heavy, 75% pastry. This is the only pub in the vicinity with a nice outside space, so could do so well, but needs to clean up it's act in all respects.

Molly gets 5 stars!! Mega bar maid, quick witted and honest... me and the girls thought she is an ace and deserves a promotion her customer service is fab! Toilets need cleaning though.... they deffo do not get stars!!!

Couldn't fault the service and food, The only downfall was there was no ice for the drinks ,no barbecue sauce on the table with the condiments and service was a slight slow than usual.

I had the Sunday roast with the Low and Slow beef rib and I’m not one for complaining and I know these places are average portion controlled but there was nothing low and slow about my rib. When I eventually scraped the fat off the top the meat was like an old boot. I expected it to fall apart and melt in my mouth but I’d probably get 50000 miles out of this piece of meat if it was a tyre. My boy had the chick and mix and picked mac n cheese, but the pasta was hard and un cooked.

Busy pub not enough staff and less than average meals. Cold and tasteless.

Food was lovely wouldn’t fault it, the staff were friendly, however I waited 45 minutes for the food. The waitress was very friendly about it though. I would like to say though, I walked into the ladies bathroom and opened the door to the left assuming it was the toilet, there was no light, it smelled, the toilet seat was on the floor which was wet and covered in toilet tissue.

The food was absolutely shocking. Me and my partner ordered chicken flat bread, it came out and the flat bread wasn't even cooked and only had a few pieces of breaded chicken nothing else in it definitely not worth the £8.99, also ordered a side salad and it only had about 3 pieces of lettuce in the bowl with 1 little bit of red onion nothing else. Wanted to complain but no-one came to our table within the 30 minutes from when our food arrived to see if everything was ok, went to the bar to complain but was waiting to long so just walked out. Not sure if this is just a 1 off because it was busy.

I ordered a starter and 2 mains. We waited 20 minutes for the starter which was fine. We then waited another 40 minutes for the main. We had 2 chicken skewers on one order the first one was great but the second one was under cooked and watery. The second meal was a sirloin steak with chips. The meal came, the chips were cold but worse was the fact the steak was full of fat and I couldn't eat it. The worst steak I gave had for a long time. Will definitely not recommend or return.

Seemed understaffed to the point of stressing out the poor hard-working staff who *were* there at the time. But despite this, those who were there were working super hard to ensure we customers hopefully couldn't notice.

Arrived at the Mill House for food and drinks only to be told that there was a party of 36 coming in a hours time, kitchen closed? The place was not even that busy!

We were well looked after, it was pretty busy, but despite this the food came pretty quickly. I had a mixed grill and it was superb. Staff were also very friendly, especially considering they were probably rushed off their feet.

I am disappointed to say the food was awful. We were celebrating a birthday meal and the food served was cold. Chicken wasn't cooked. We did complain but got funny looks by the staff which made it a horrible atmosphere. The only good thing was the bar man who was pleasant.

Won't be returning again, they weren't busy but managed to ruin my meal. Ordered the mixed grill asked for a steak well done and it arrived pink still but the best bit was the sausage that arrived was so solid/over cooked I couldn't eat it or put a fork in it, basically looks like they got it confused with the steak as I didn't request a well done sausage. Shame as we have had some nice food here too. I was asked how my food was and I mentioned my disappointment but nothing was said.
