Really good beer and chill vibe, but I have to be honest the food is kinda mediocre

So worth it, been a few times now. Burgers are fun (had one with peanut butter!) but would probably opt for a classic smash in future (had a bite from my partner's and it made me jealous). Cocktails are a treat and keep coming back for the loaded fries!

Great burger place. I had a double smash burger and it was amazing, better than a lot of other burger places in Bristol. I'd definitely recommend going if you like a burger.

October 2024. Seen reviews saying the service was bad but they weren’t that recent so we ignored it, but that was a mistake. Service was slow off the bat, staff weren't that interested in the customers overall, never asked if the food was okay even after staring at my pink chicken for 5 minutes . I went with my boyfriend , his burger was nice I’m not denying that - but mine was half bright pink. After I apologised for the trouble and asked for a replacement I was told that the pink was “completely normal” but never told sorry, the waitress basically implied that i was overreacting . I was also told “IF you’re uncomfortable eating it (who wouldn’t be 😂) i can get you another” , what the waitress didn’t mention was that I would have to pay for the replacement of my pink chicken and be expected to eat it by myself after my boyfriend was completely finished. Then when I asked why I was being charged for a beef burger ,which I only got because they couldn’t cook chicken, all I got was attitude from the waitress and yet again not even close to an apology . I told her to keep the replacement burger as it felt like she was implying that I was just trying to get free food and she said “fine.” and snatched it off the table and ran off. The boy was nice tho and we did feel bad for him because she clearly thought she ran the show with the attitude on her . But after all they still snuck in their 10% service charge .

Fast, affordable, tasty, nice server who apologised for a couple minute delay. Smash burgers are always a must and this did not disappoint, but is a little cramped, nothing too bad though

One of the best burger spots around! The service was excellent—quick and friendly. We tried several items: the Milk Bun (4/5), LA (5/5), Plain Chick (5/5), Truffle Thunder (7/5 – absolutely amazing!), and The Big B (5/5). Each burger was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The only downside was the fries, which were unfortunately below average (1/5).

First time at Milk Bun and ordered a smashed burger and deep fried pickles. The burger was really tasty but I do think the patty could have been slightly more 'smashed'. I loved the pickles, was a nice change from having a side of chips. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The location is in heart of Clifton so is nice to visit for a lunch stop.

Milkbun always serves up great burgers and it makes a change from the smash burgers are a lot of restaurants are doing at the moment. Portion sizes are generous and staff were very attentive without being overbearing. Went with friends who had never visited before and they thoroughly enjoyed it.

Served by the owner Burgers we're exceptional, very tasty, the best we have ever tasted, the buns were very tasty, and the combination of both the burger and the home made buns, really made it a wonderful experience. You could see the owner is very proud of his business, and his products, the place was clean modern, a real joy to visit.

The service was excellent, super attentive all the time. Suitable for dogs, they even gave us a bowl of water for him upon arrival. The burger was very good, and the Bronx fries to share are a success. It is not the typical greasy burger, but a much more careful dish with a lot of flavor.

We came on Valentine’s Day. First of all would like to say the service was great, well done to the friendly staff. The food, we ordered the chicken strips after seeing pictures of how the looked on previous reviews and were very let down to see the tiny size and no coating on our chicken strips. Also the pickle had been sliced nearly on other reviews but just plonked on the plate on ours. We ordered two pablo burgers the taste was good, however the burgers were lukewarm upon arrival and should have been hot as we were one of the first tables on Valentine’s Day. The staff handled this promptly and proportionately and we thank them for remedying the cold food. Overall, good experience but may need to check the overall look and quality of the chicken strips dish.

Really accommodating to bringing a baby, had highchair already at the table. Although it was narrow, the pram fitted in and we weren't made to feel like a burden. The food was very tasty and the waitresses had good knowledge of the food and drink selection. Calm music and great atmosphere!

La semana pasada pedí de milk bun vía Uber eats. He pedido de ellos muchas veces en el pasado y nunca he tenido un problema. Por lo general, el tamaño de la porción para las papas fritas de la casa es ENORME. Pero la semana pasada recibí una poción diminuta y una estafa total por £ 4. 50 . Me di cuenta de que 2 días antes de ordenar alguien más había comentado en su página de instagram exactamente lo mismo, así que no fue una vez. También trabajo en un negocio independiente en el pueblo de Clifton y sé cómo las malas críticas pueden afectar, así que envié un correo electrónico a milk bun la semana pasada para darles la oportunidad de responder en privado. No me han respondido, lo cual es una lástima y algo que uno no esperaría de una pequeña empresa. Qué triste : (fueron mis comidas favoritas en Uber, pero ahora voy a tener que encontrar otro lugar.

Had to wait quite a while for the food. We ordered a Triad burger, smash burger and double smash burger. When they eventually arrived the waitress couldn’t distinguish between the standard burger and double burger. She took it back but the chef said it was a double, the patties had just been cut very thin 😆. I wasn’t in the mood to argue but we paid for a double and got a single. I doubt we will bother going again but the location was good.

Such a great place with probably the best hamburger out there.

This restaurant says they cannot cater to people with allergies. Has no mention of this on their website you can only find this out when you turn up in person. Really makes you question the cleanliness of their kitchen if they’re unable to maintain basic cross contamination controls.

We visited here a few months ago and had the Fumo and El Chapo off the classics menu, both really good burgers with so much flavour! We also had the Bronx fries which you just have to have if visiting here, they’re too good not to have!

I had an amazing experience at Milk Bun! The burgers were some of the best I’ve ever had—juicy, flavorful, and made with top-quality ingredients. We went for an early First Table booking. Shortly after we arrived, I noticed that it was getting quite smoky in the restaurant. We had a delicious meal. The burgers were great, even if the chicken burger had a little too much citrus in the mayo. The Bronx loaded fries were fantastic, but needed a little seasoning with salt. We were chatting away, when I asked my partner if she was upset about something, as her eyes were watering and had gone red. We realised that the smoke coming up from the kitchen was quite thick and had made both our eyes watery and irritated. At the end of our meal, we asked if the staff were okay with the amount of smoke in the room, as I’m sure doing a full restaurant service in there would be really tough, not only on the eyes, but on the lungs too. We were told that the restaurant are waiting for the extractor system to be cleaned and thats why it’s smokier than it would be usually. I can only imagine what it must have been like for the folks in the kitchen. It was only when we arrived home that we realised that all our clothes/bags now smell like smoke and fat. Sadly one of our coats is dry clean only, so that’s something we weren’t expecting to have to fork out for. Genuinely delicious food, but I don’t think a restaurant should open if they know they’re awaiting extractor maintenance, as everyone who dined there this evening will stink of fat, not to mention the poor kitchen and floor staff, having to work in an overly smoky environment. We will definitely dine there again, but only once the extraction system has been cleaned and maintained.

First time trying this place. Ordered various burgers, with double patties. Excellent flavour, juicy and well proportioned. My own was a little too salty for my taste (hence the 4*). Dirty fries were outstanding. good simple food done very well. Little overpriced but given quality and location, not shockingly so. Highly recommended.

Loved my first visit to Milk Bun. A quick glance of the menu suggests there’s only three burgers I could’ve had - and those were all vegan (I’m vegetarian). As it turns out, the vegan ones can all be made vegetarian and, even better, ALL the burger styles can have the beef burger swapped out for the vegan patty! Really tasty and totally hit the spot!

Uber eats let’s Milk Bun down badly! Cold food

We attended a 21st Birthday bash arranged by by the 21 year old… which left us feeling apprehensive considering we are a couple in our senior years….. ah well give it ago…. We preempted the visit with a good look at their website….their restaurant is in the lovely Bristol Clifton Village….we need not have been concerned … the evening went well the service was glorious and the many choices great and beautifully cooked… we thoroughly enjoyed it and will return soon.

Best burgers I've had for a long time. Wonderful to see a burger restaurant venturing into new combos and executing it so well. Super tasty and clearly a high-end burger. Warning that each portion of fries is rather big when compared to other restaurants - easily sharable by 2 people. Will be back.

Had 2 really good burgers here on Saturday - tasted awesome and the bread buns were fantastic. Hadn’t booked but they managed to fit us in, and it’s dog friendly too! Service was a little slow and not overly attentive, which is a little strange considering there’s a mandatory 10% service charge - but you don’t mind waiting when the food is this good!

Super neat burger joint. The 'El Chapo' burger is the best burger I have ever eaten. The burgers are really well put together and do not fall apart whilst you eat them. The meat patty is very high quality and really juicy tasting. The other fillings were great and it was not super spicy - just right. My wife enjoyed the veggie burger too.

Excellent burgers and very good service. As two vegetarians, the option to make any of the burgers on the menu veggie/vegan was so helpful. We both had the Fumo with veggie patties and they were both delicious. The BBQ sauce on the burger were delicious too. Along with excellent fries with delicious cheese sauce. Overall it was a great meal out. I'm sorry if this is wrong but I think our server was Emily who was very friendly. I would recommend this highly.

Me and my husband ordered the Pablo burger and Bolognese Fries the taste was good but there’s a hair inside the bolognese. When we complained the waitress apologized and offered to take it out from the bill or give me the new one but I have already lost my appetite. I think it’s better to offer something else if this happened.

The burgers here were absolutely incredible. All three of us had different ones and all were amazing. Very generous portions of chips 2 (1 between 2 people is fine). Will definitely come back.

We love this place. My husband loves burgers, whereas I am not a fan. But this place definitely changed my perspective. Their burgers were fresh, flavourful and didn't make me feel sludgy after. Interior was modern and full of light. I also appreciated the cheese dip...I feel like a lot of burger places should include a cheese dip - not only did this one taste nice but it was humungous! All the portions were massive and the meals were very affordable.

Heard a lot about this place and came away underwhelmed. Burgers were ok, but nothing more. The parmesan fries were, again, ok. The sauerkraut style coalslaw was a new thing for me and tasty. Location is great, staff are great, price as you would expect isn't cheap. A couple beers, burgers and two sides will set you back £50. Three brothers burgers is a superior alternative.

We recently tried the burgers here. They tasted average, but the presentation was better. The buns were fresh and the service was good and friendly.

Finally got round to trying this place after being on my list for ages! I had their special which was the Carolina consisting of a beef patty, cheese, pulled pork, bbq sauce, bacon & onions, such a good burger! Obviously had to get the Bronx fries which are covered in cheese sauce, crispy bacon, parmesan, crispy onions & chives. So glad we shared these as the portion was HUGE! Such good service too.

Best burgers in Bristol. A small independent that needs backing. Quality produce made in house unlike most other burger places. Ordered the homemade peach Ice tea, buttermilk chicken wings with the chicken Pablo with bronx fries to share. Points of difference were the glaze and crunch on the wings, the actual milk bun itself and the different cheeses on the fries. Service was quick, enjoyed the music playlist which created a nice chilled vibe. Will definitely be going back next time I’m in Clifton.

Looking forward to another visit to milkbun and for first time in probably 3/4 visits I left unsatisfied, as I’ve not reviewed on here yet I’ll give you my overall based on previous visits but this time the food really dint hit like it has before. I ordered a bronx burger and bronx dirty fries, I’ll start with the fries - big portion that’s for sure but the fries were under done, lacking seasoning and the cheese sauce was thick and with a heavy flour taste without any of the cheese really hitting the taste, absolutely no cheese pull at all! The burger was ok, no crispy edges to the beef felt like it needed a little longer on grill to get that charred crispiness across the patty, the burger fell apart when eating a lot of juice coming out the meat making the bottom bun soaked and now soft, the lack of seasoning in the meat showed again the taste buds were asking for more that’s for sure. We also ordered the chicken strips and again disappointing, crispy strips absolutely not, anaemic and soft light batter, and zero flavour other than the side sauce. surely they would looked at this on the pass and said we can’t serve this? But nope it made its way to table. Overall score for this visit - 5.5/10 But normally milk bun absolutely hits the spot and they have a very high standard of food here and my pervious visits I’ve seen this standard shown and I leave very satisfied so I’m sure this was a one off. But a bad birthday meal that’s for sure.

Burgers looked the part, so pretty! But so hard to cut it in half and the meat was tough and no flavour. The bun was SO dry, yikes.

We stopped by yesterday evening wanting a quick bite after a lovely smoke and stroll along the downs. We drastically underestimated how lovely this place was, initially thinking it to be a trendy burgers and shakes style restaurant. Whilst seemingly simple, the menu offers a wide variety of flavours. We ordered a Pablo and Triad with some Parmesan fries as well as a Fumo to go (which they were happy to keep under a lamp as we ate). Delicious food, friendly quality service. Definitely more of a proper meal out spot than just a quick bite. They were fully booked so recommend booking ahead!! Ps- to our lovely waitress, so sorry for our awkwardness we weren’t expecting table service! You were very attentive and friendly despite our confusion, so sorry if we came off as rude. The burgers were good and there was a fairly wide selection of different toppings. They were however smaller than we expected. The fries were very good. Staff were friendly but the service was quite slow despite it not being that busy.

Been wanting to try here for ages and couldn’t wait. Yea it’s expensive but as a massive burger fan- it’s always worth it to find the perfect burger. Unfortunately this wasn’t it. They were very busy so it did take a little while. I had the bronx - the bun itself was beautiful, the burger good until I bit into some hard gristle which ruined it for me. The pickles were sliced very thinly, but to me they still over powered the entire burger. My partner had the pablo- the one with the peanut butter- he said the hint was there and it was good but the onions for him over powered the burger. Chips were on- the extra cheese sauce was only ok. Overall it was a decent burger but because of the price it wasn’t worth it. We wouldn’t visit again.

Literally THE BEST BURGERS in bristol! This was my second time trying this place, the first time was home delivery via uber eats. I have tried their Triad and Chicken El Chapo and holy moly are they both delicious! It is so hard to pick a favourite. The buns are smooth and fresh, the condiments inside are unique & tasty, & the service is efficient. I cannot wait to visit again and try other items on the menu! It was 4 of us. We ordered a burger each with a side of fries and a soft drink. Total was 26£/pp

Went for a weekend in Bristol and randomly found this burger place - nice, elegant atmosphere. I had a chicken burger with some spicy peppers and cheese - if you like spicy stuff I recommend it otherwise there are good beef burger options. I was surprised with the fried pickles (try if them you haven’t before). p.s. very nice soft burger buns

I have been a regular Milk Bun customer for a couple of years. The food is excellent (in my opinion the best tasting burgers in the area) and the fried pickles are a must try! The food is delicious, although it is quite expensive (~£15 for a burger, with fries/sides as additional dishes). I’d go more often if it was a bit less pricey. Milk bun remains my favourite restaurant in the Village.

On the one hand this is an artisinal experience and in the same way I choose to pay 3x more for sourdough than white-sliced and 10x more for fresh ground than instant, I felt frustrated about the reviews comparing this place to fast food burger joints. We had burger and fries, they were absolutely delicious, top quality, huge portions, no complaints. Service was warm and welcoming and the overall vibe is both cosy and cool. My Margarita was exceptional and I am fussy about those. On the other hand, the bill was £60. I have just come back from Portugal where a 3 course meal in with a bottle of wine, in lovely bougie restaurants, was €70. It is what it is folks. The UK is expensive, the South even more so and Bristol particularly so. If you want a good burger for less go to 5 Guys but if you want a 'treat' come here, but please don't whinge about the price, you have been warned!

It feels almost foolish to add to the symphony of people rhapsodising about these burgers, but these were just monuments in the burger landscape. We tried two between us, the Triad and the Pablo, and both were spectacular. We also enjoyed about 4 of the Dirty Margs - lightened with Ting and with a sharp chilli salt rim; the fried pickles - light, crisp, fantastic, and their house fries which were crisp and well salted. This is a superior joint.

Milk Bun at Bristol is a must-visit spot! The atmosphere is cozy, the service is top-notch, and the food is delicious. I indulged in the El Chapo burger with double meat, Bronx Fries, Fried Pickles, and a Dirty Margarita – all fantastic choices. Only downside: the burger meat was a tad too salty for my taste. Nevertheless, it's a gem worth discovering in Bristol! 🍔🍟🥒🍹

Incredible burgers. Not bad value, but when considering Asado comes with 2 sides for same price, bit pricey. Should do a student discount considering a student city.

Food was good, probably in top 5 burgers of my life. Service is what lets it down. Quite curt and when clearing plates basically told us we were getting the bill despite having full drinks still. Every interaction was robotic with barely any eye contact. I think they know they have a 'hype' and don't need to try, they add 10% service charge either way.

Lovely burgers but complete frustration when calling to simply order a takeaway. I was told that it’s company policy that you can come into the restaurant and order takeaway but they can’t take phone orders. This apparently is due to being busy and not time to take phone orders. When I pointed out that it’s the same staff time whether in person or on the phone there was no response other than ‘that’s just the way we do it’. Really? So your gonna lose out on a 7 person £150 order just because of no good reason?! Mental. The even more stupid part was it took them far more time explaining why they couldn’t take the order and getting the manager to take my complaint than it would have done to just take the order. Also if the issue is the busy factor why would you want takeaway customers sat clogging up your restaurant while waiting for their order to be cooked?! The manager was simply rude and offered no help at all to the situation…great manager…one who I hope the business owners will replace if they want this to not be one of the hundreds of businesses that fail every year in Bristol. The competition between burger places in Bristol is huge. It doesn’t take long for reputation to fall. Off to Asado burger to spend my good money their instead. We are a large company provider of student and young professional accommodation in the city and up till now our Bristol guide recommends you to our housemates….this will be removed as of tonight. So angry by our treatment from your restaurant this evening

Fabulous burgers, fried pickles, chicken wings and bronx fries. My only issue was that the burgers and fries could have been a bit hotter, but it was still delicious, and I'd go back 💯 We went with First Table, very good value.

Last night I came here for a birthday celebration and had such a great time. Great value for money too. Service from both Martha & Yasmin was great, we were a big party and they tended to us really well, would definitely recommend !

Atmosphere and service was good, but honestly a little underwhelmed by the burger. I heard amazing things about it but was slightly disappointed by how soggy the burger became. Though, the flavour of the peanut butter was great. Fries had a good flavour and good topping, though an overwhelming amount of cheese sauce. Fried pickles are a must try!

Good choice of burgers plus good value specials also available. Fried pickles and bronx fries are great. Well cooked burgers but maybe could have been a bit hotter. So, good food but the atmosphere in the restaurant was very smokey and we both smelt of smoke after leaving. Floor was also very slippery, maybe due to the smoke, including the stairs down to the toilets in the basement.

Delicious food however the lack of ventilation ruins the experience. The place is full of smoke and humidity from the kitchen and the guests. We've been here two times and both times same thing. Sorry but wouldn't recommend until it's sorted out.

Went with a group. Had the Pablo burger and a cocktail. Book in advance since the restaurant isn't that big but certainly go. Everything about the food was great. The beautiful-looking Mac n Cheese wasn't on the menu which was quite disappointing. The prices are a *little* steep but ultimately worth it.
