Unfortunately - I found that the meal was very expensive for some cheap store bought dry spaghetti. A fresh tagliatelle would have been so much better than popping some spaghetti into boil with a bit of sauce. A bit of red wine would have given the ragu a deeper bodied flavour, instead was very flat. The sweet potato fries however, well... They were beautiful. Customer service was second to none! Really lovely warm welcoming

An average Italian restaurant. The food was OK and the service was nice. It's a good option if you're in the neighborhood.

Not the place to go for 'authentic' Italian food. I think it has changed hands as the last time we went it was good. Ok for a splash and dash before theatre, if you don't care about cheap brought in bread, bland pasta dishes plus rude and woefully lacking service. Never mind.

This place was lovely, it had fantastic food and brilliant service! Very good value for money; we will be back!

First time at this restaurant in Southampton. We had been to the theatre and this is ideally placed for a pre or post theatre experience. Simple menu, simple food. Nothing outstanding but perfectly acceptable. Service ok. Wine good but after one bottle had run out of our choice which is poor. All in all great place for a quick meal. Food came hot and fast which is what you want if on a theatre date 😀

Service from the staff in the restaurant was professional and polite from the start. We had the sharing Camembert starter and we felt like we needed more than 2 bits of bread each as there was loads left over n felt like a waste. The main meals portions was very good for the price. And the garlic bread pizza was very nice.

This restaurant had a lot of potential, but it failed to deliver on any aspect of it. The service was rude and unprofessional, the food was overpriced and undercooked, and the atmosphere was chaotic and unpleasant. I felt like I was treated like an inconvenience, rather than a guest. I regret wasting my time and money on this restaurant.

Well organised venue with fast friendly service, we had 2 pastas and mentioned to the waitress that we only had 45 minutes due to arriving to the restaurant late because of traffic, food arrived really fast as we got the theatre in plenary of time as it was only a 1 minute walk. We will recommend this venue for sure.

Food here is very good. However, the service tonight was very disappointing. Despite booking a rapid pre- theatre dinner slot we were still waiting for our food 40 minutes after ordering. This meant we didn’t have time to finish eating our main course before we had to leave for the show. I had to ask several times for tap water for the table as we had finished our drinks over 20 minutes before our food arrived. My glass of wine was split all over the person at the table next to us by the waiter. The table on the other side received incorrect orders for their starters and main courses. This all made for a very stressful experience. In compensation we were given £3.27 off our bill. I’m afraid we won’t be going back or recommending this restaurant to anyone.

The most delicious Italian restaurant in the area for me I tried the lasagna and there is no mistake. I would recommend it to the Arabs

No idea why this is rated so high, genuinely awful experience, overcharged us for things we didn't order, not great food, terrible wine, awful service, grim and tacky interior.

Nice find, close to Mayflower Theate. The food was very good, the service friendly and fast, just what we needed. This will be a regular venue each time we go to the theatre. Highly recommended.

Finally I enjoyed my dinner at fully ! Despite the busy time,the staff has found us a table quick, we managed to order in 10 minute after seating down,drinks arrived in time and the food was exceptional! Sharing platter, Al Crudo Pizza and Calamari,we asked the 3 dishes together and it's seems nothing to be to much for them. Patriczya and her colleagues working together, created a very good and relaxed atmosphere. Rarely to see this kind of performance all in once, hosting, service, food quality,store hygiene all spot on! Well done guys!

Lovely food, friendly staff and great restaurant.

Can't fault the food at all, however when you have 5.15 booked table and your food doesn't arrive until 6.40, and you then have to be in the theatre for 7., we were forgotten and then they suggest it was our fault because we were the last booking. Not sure we will go again

I went to this place on a Friday night the staff were lovely and the decor and facilities were lovely. However the cider was stale and fowsty, and the pizza mushy and doughy tasting. In there defence they were very good. They did the drink again and took the pizza off the bill and offered me something else. I declined I’d lost my appetite. Such a CV shame I really liked the friendly staff but the food and drink wasn’t good . I wouldn’t recommend

Absolutely lovely place,food was excellent. Bare in move the garlic bread starter was actually a whole pizza,,amazing. Staff were lovely although we did wait a while for the bill. Right by thw theatre too so was perfect for us that night..

We went on a mayflower show night so it was very busy. Too busy for the number of staff to handle. We had booked a table but it had been given to someone else so had to wait. It took a long time to have our order taken once we were seated. One of the dishes in our order was sent to the wrong table next to us where the person it was given to ate their garlic bread over the dish. After realising it was the wrong dish it was then brought to our table. When I said I wanted a fresh dish they told me it was a fresh dish. Which clearly it wasn’t. It was covered in garlic bread crumbs and was cold. I would never eat at this restaurant again.

Very busy which says alot, lovely food

Didn't have a booking. Got seated quickly. Staff friendly. I hate having a service charge added to the bill. Therefore, reject paying it. I would rather leave a tip of my choosing. They deserved a tip but didn't get one. Sorry.

Came in before a theatre show. Quick service, so not rushed for the show. Both pasta dishes very bland, no real flavour. Service charge added by restaurant.

Very handy for the Mayflower Theatre

The 2 pizzas and 1 of the pasta dishes were very good, but that's where the positives end. The second pasta dish was just about OK but devoid of sauce and mushrooms. The service is appalling!! We waited around 45 minutes from ordering to receive our food without any warning that there would be a delay. There was no follow up at any stage after delivery of food, to offer parmesan cheese, or check that our meal was okay. 15 minutes after finishing, we were still sitting looking at our empty plates, and still no sign of service. We would have ordered desserts and coffee but were losing the will to live. 3 people on the table to one side of us all send their food back, and the table to the other side we advised of several items that weren't available from the menu, including lasagne and bolognaise. The greatest insult was to ask us on the way out if everything was okay and charge us 10% service charge!! I would be grateful for any feedback but if this counts as another part of the service I won't be holding my breath!

Was brought the wrong meals to begin with. Had the tagliatelle Alfredo, pasta which was very dry, no sauce or mushrooms as stated only three bits of crispy pancetta. Tasteless dish, will not return

It was a last minute decision to come here. Best one made in a long time! It was lovely to sit outside, without being too close to the road. The service was attentive, but not too much. Asked how everything was before I took a mouthful of food! Everything was fresh and tasty. I left something behind but didn't realise until later, but they kept it and knew exactly who I was when I walked back in. I would not hesitate to return or recommend Milan. Thank you!

Difficult one to rate as think it's good value, but my lasagne was mediocre, whereas my partners tagliatelle was really good. 2 members of staff were lovely, but one girl snatched the menu out of my hand when I was asking how something was pronounced and managed to force a fake smile. The restaurant area and ambience was good, but the bathroom could have been cleaner. I would go back though

Disgusting soggy food. The waiting time is ridiculously high, and there are plenty of better resturants nearby next door. Overrated and bad service, the waiter was very rude and proceeded to literally ignore me and a few other customers when things got a bit busy. Came and asked us what we wanted 30 mins later!! The worst thing is we saw him stading there for like 5 mins doing nothing. Terrible, won't recommend.

Disappointing ratio of vegetables and prawns to pasta. Supposed to be courgettes and peppers, very little veg and what there was tiny slithers, Very bland dish no seasoning

We booked for lunch before going to a matinee at the Mayflower. Arrived before 12 - eventually gave order at 12.30pm - food arrived at 1.10pm. One meal not what was ordered - the other not terribly good. Staff really couldn't have cared less - just said it wasn't far to walk when I queried the time it was taking. Used to be good - after yesterday, never again. One gentleman left without having eaten anything at all. NOT the way to impress anyone.

Would not return -so disappointed -thought the small menu would mean good authentic Italian experience - our greeting was - ( at 4.30pm ) We need your table back at 6pm How to make you feel welcolme ??? - to then see others being served before us - who came in afterwards - Had to keep coat on as was cold We had to leave table to ask for drinks - no water offered or given - service none existent We were only remembered when they wanted the table back - but we hadn’t seen a waitress to be able to finish our meal - even though we kept trying to get their attention as we were aware of the time we had - wow wow wow - ( we were actually only offered drinks when we asked for the rest of our meal / when we were told our table was now needed ) wow wow wow 😞😞 food was ok ,pizza and pasta -nice tiramisu was not nice - it was sinthetic cream - was not asked how it was - would have given 1 star expect for the pizza and pasta. Being ok - You don’t eat out and pay all that money to be made to feel unwelcome - be charged for service that you don’t get - and told to leave as the tables needed when you’ve been sat waiting and waiting and had to go and ask for drinks - if the table is needed that badly you’d think they’d try actually serving people within the timescale given -not ignore them - and then say time up - again / wow wow wow

My friend and I visited your lovely restaurant on Sunday 29th January. We had a delicious meal 😋 and the Waitress that served us was so helpful and Friendly, we can't remember her name but she was Polish!!

Very convenient for the theatre, will do any pasta dish GF, which is great! Service swift too!

Been here twice now pre Mayflower. Very good food and service but the drinks are expensive. Advise to book before as gets packed. A bit of background music would be nice.

Well, where do I begin.... We had gone out to to Milan to taste their strongly advertised "delicious Italian cuisine", and where left with an experience that can only be described as disappointing. The starters had come out swiftly and well presented, however paying £9.00 for 6 rings of frozen calamari really takes the biscuit. After the plates were cleared, it was very apparent that somebody had sabotaged the crockery, due to the waitress dropping things in 5 minute intervals. The mains had come out, and we were offered a teaspoon of parmesan on each dish, half way through our meal we had discovered that one of the dishes had a strand of hair entangling a fork instead of the overcooked tagliatelle. We we're looking forward to receiving the bill, only to find a £20.00 tip had been added, this should always be discretionary. Please go to Zizzi or Piccolo Mondo, better food, and value for money. ps: wear a hairnet

Looks good outside but very cold inside. I found the choice of food good, but when I got what I ordered, it was not as I expected, also when we got the bill it came to just over 105 pounds. And they added ten pounds for a tip. If I had seen it before I paid I would have questioned it.

Good food, accommodated a large party with no booking. Quick service too.

The food and service were both superb. A few very loud older ladies. But they were clearly having fun, why not. Could not fault the place. Will go again especially if I go to the theatre near by again.

We didn’t book the anywhere before going to the theatre and they took us in and got our order in time before the show started. Really friendly and helpful. Good service, very nice food at not a bad price. They did add on the service charge to the final bill but did tell us when we went to tip. But everyone seems to be doing that. Not sure if that’s the right way to do things.

Dirty cutlery, mix up with two orders, we requested no chillies both came out with chillies and covered with chilli sauce. One meal had to be cancelled as it would have been too late for the theatre I ended up with a salad!!!! , Would have been nice to have been offered a free coffee.

Start with a pro the food in itself was really nice, well cooked and fresh. However service was poor, took 50mins for food to arrive,no one checked on our meals, even when they cleared the plates. My pasta was missing a couple of ingredients. They put a large drink on the bill instead of a small, and whilst they did sort it they didn't apologise. When I left and said thank you and bye there was no response

This is a great place to eat before going to the theatre. It is reasonably priced compared to other restaurants close to The Mayflower Theatre and the food is delicious. The staff were friendly and the service was brilliant. We had pre-booked a table but were running very late due to problems with traffic. The staff were very accommodating and ensured we had a quick turnaround. Will definitely use this restaurant again any time we are in Southampton. The girls loved the show by the way. Thank you.

This was one of the best Italian restaurants that I have found in Southampton, yet! Everything tastes so fresh and full of flavour - I was a bit hesitant as I had had worse experiences elsewhere but everything from the moment I walked in the door was great! The whole experience was quite quick and the tiramisu was delicious. The tagliatelle with smoked salmon is to die for, would highly recommend!! My friend loved it so much, he called his mother to join us for dessert!! Great place guys, really smashing it! (P.S, if you go, DEFINITELY go hungry so you can eat more😉)

Very busy for mayflower theatre next door . Empty shortly before performance . Service not great . Pizza a bit burnt underneath and none of our party of 8 was impressed with their respective meals

Food was lovely . But staff need to see the experience for the customer right through to the end .Didnt check if food was OK & didn't ask if we wanted the dessert menu . We booked this a month in advance & it was a special occasion for us but slightly ruined due to this . But would definitely recommend xx

Discovered Milan by chance on Google when looking for a pre theatre lunch. Absolutely wonderful food, staff and prices. Wines reasonably priced and the food excellent. We have an evening theatre trip in June and will be booking Milan for pre theatre dinner for sure.

Great place . Food was more than excellent , the staff very friendly ,attentive and helpful . I would recommend Milans to anyone and look foward to going back . They get busy before theatre show so get there early to avoid disapointment in not getting a table . .

A little gem. Went in for pre theatre meal. Worth pre booking which we hadn't but they found a table for 2. It was full but the 3 members of staff were curteous and efficient. The food was delicious, good portion size and excellent value. And a 2 minute walk to theatre.

Stylish and modern- looking Italian restaurant which we'd not noticed before. The service was amazing as we arrived at 6pm and they managed to serve us 3 courses prior to our Mayflower theatre booking at 7.30pm. The food was delicious 😋. I would highly recommend Milan if you're in Southampton and hungry!

Such lovely Italian food, well impressed! Went for an early dinner after a show at The Mayflower. Fast, friendly service for our family party of 9. Delicious pizza and pasta dishes, highly recommended!

We were welcomed & seated suitably spaced from other customers . The staff were friendly & efficient . We both ordered the salmon tagliatelle which was a very generous tasty & delicious choice . Followed by a delightful light cheesecake . The whole meal was a great success & we shall be sure to use the restaurant again when visiting the Mayflower .

Great place, food was amazing, service was incredibly quick and staff were helpful and friendly. Genuinely lovely place. Highly recommend. They knew we had a show to go to, as did most of the other customers, and it was quick but didn't compromise on quality.

I’ve been to casa Italia many times before love that all that you could eat buffet before the Covid ,sent son with his girlfriend for her birthday as I recommend this a lovely restaurant and was definitely worth travelling from Bournemouth for and I was appalled to see the rest of the pizza that he brought home,that was presented in front of him, he said he wasn’t that impressed it must’ve been different before Covid to be honest , that’s not an excuse to have a burnt black pizza base,So had a very disappointed son with his girlfriend on her surprise for a meal out,will not be recommending again.

We were expecting Casa Italia, sadly that was not what we got. Long wait to be attended to for our table on arrival, staff quite miserable, not very friendly or efficient, weren't asked if we would like a drink, nor dessert or coffee. Quite a problem getting the bill. Not impressed with the choice of menu - theatre lunch available only. And as to the food, which could have saved the day - cold plates, and very mediocre for the price. Will be cancelling our reservation for November. So, so disappointing
