Service was excellent, loved the train .. but let down by the food, the 5 bean portion for breakfast, accompanied the smallest mushrooms ever, tasteless sausages and dry bacon…nothing like the photographs….quite why beans were so rationed, was beyond us, as the photograph showed a fair portion of beans.

We come here quite frequently me and my family for coffee and lunch as it's local to walk to from my mum's. From the first time we came Trish couldn't do enough for us she has seen me throughout both my pregnancies and are seeing both my babies grow up. She is truly a credit to the company 😁

Over cooked food.Steak was ordered medium to raw..eas well done. scampi was like bullets. Sticky tables. food on carpets under our tables. Won't be returning

Come here often as it’s local to us and it’s always a really nice evening, there’s a warmth and friendliness to the pub as soon as you walk in. The staff are always lovely and chatty with a great atmosphere. We all really enjoy the small plates to share too

I ordered the hunters chicken and it was way over cooked. The chicken was dry and the bacon burnt , it was covered in sauce and it hid how overcooked this meal actually was.

Appalling service. Ended up walking out one hour after no food. Manager Sam was arrogant and rude. Just blanked feedback

Service was good pleasant but the size of the coffe foe takeaway isn’t good 3 mouthfuls literally Sandwich was cold as if it had sat there for 10 of the 25 mins I waited I had decided to try local due to wanting to support local but I can’t afford to double the price of a coffee £11:00 for a coffee n sandwiche

Living local to the Midland Hotel we thought we would give them a try for breakfast. Being a Sunday, it was quite busy, however, we had to wait over an hour for our breakfasts to arrive, and then, the food only arrived after chasing. Once the breakfasts had arrived, the food was nice. We were disappointed that we had to wait so long for our food, and it appeared that other people arrived after us, ordered after us and then were served their food before us. We are not in a rush to go back to Midland for a cooked breakfast.

We were a party of over sixty people, the food was very good, We had three courses and each course was very nice.

Called in when we were travelling North and staying local for the one night. Wish we hadn't. Went to the bar for a couple of drinks and went to pay with a paper £20 note. The lad behind the bar said. We don't take them! I inquired why as they were still legal currency. He initially said they weren't and asked a local sitting at the bar. She said we don't take them down here!!! I said that's strange because they take them down south where I live. He then went to see the Manager and came back and said, we do take them its the tenners we don't take! No apology. I sat down and my Wife said that she wanted something to eat and we picked something from the meal deal menu, she went up to order and the same lad said to my Wife, I don't think you can get the meal deal at this time, this despite the menu saying "Available all day, Monday to Thursday". This was a Thursday, again he went and checked and came back and said it would be okay. when waiting for the food he came across and asked if we wanted any sauces etc. My wife asked for salt, pepper and vinegar, I asked for mayo. He brought 2 salts and a vinegar! When the food came it was very bland. I know it's difficult to get staff at present but the staff you get should be trained to at least encourage repeat business. Not good.

A lovely atmosphere. There was a buzz but it was not noisy. The staff were very welcoming and we felt as though we were regular customers although it was our first visit. A vegan member of the family was well catered for and the food was plentiful, wrll cooked and tasty. Will definitely go again.

We were staying at Oulton Hall over the weekend,and went out walking on Sunday Morning,to the river and Beyond,We called in here for a drink on the way back.It was so nice we had Sunday Lunch.Absolutely Brilliant.The beef was cooked to perfection.The bar had a great atmosphere.The staff were excellent and attentive. The Hotel also has a small coffee bar as well with light snacks and cold drinks available.Plenty of good outdoor seating also. A very well run Establishment.

We called in on a Saturday lunchtime and found that quite a few menu items which we wanted were unavailable (including one we were notified about 5 minutes after we had ordered). My scampi was fine with tasty chips but a measly portion of mushy peas. My friends enjoyed their cod and chips and meat pie although the puff pastry topping was far too large. They do a lunchtime special menu during the week, but unfortunately this is not available on a Saturday so we thought the food was dear at £33 without drinks. If visiting for lunch I’d recommend going mid-week

Nipped into the Hotel for a quick lunch, with my wife, daughter, diva spaniel and two year-old grandson. Not an easy group to please you might think ? At the Midland Hotel you are accommodated easily. A pleasant table, quick friendly service, really nice beer (could have stayed much longer) and fresh, up to date, unfussy but really good quality food, all at a fair price. Loved this place, will return. You should try it, it's an absolute gem!

The Midland hotel is well situated with a good pub, lovely atmosphere & friendly, hard working staff....nothing ever seems to be too much trouble! We will definitely be back again in the not-too-distant future!😊

Called for a drink on a hot sunny day. Plenty of good outdoor seating. Whilst we were getting settled and wondering how to order we were approached by a helpful and friendly barman who took our order and served at our table.

Called in for lunch whilst visiting the area, Covid rules fully explained, service was excellent, food was well presented and tasty, would definitely return if in the area.

We popped in here for a drink, never been before, and it was really good. We just had our drinks and a good chat to the young man that served us, very friendly and helpful. We will certainly come here again for some food.

The Midland has once again changed ownership from Bermondsey Pubs to Stonegate. They advise they will not go back to supporting local bakeries and butchers and all food will continue to be purchased frozen from cheap wholesalers. The Manager spoke to me with a; ‘I don’t understand what your problem is’ attitude.

We used to go here quite often for breakfast , then the quality went down hill after refurb . We where passing yesterday and decided to give another go . Waste of time even worse catering sausage and poor ingredients won’t be back .

I came to The Midland with my friend for a 2 night stay. From reception to the restaurant to the bar staff everyone was helpful and pleasant. We only ate breakfast there and it was delicious. Loads of choice and the hot buffet was actually hot! We had a nice bright, clean room. It’s a very impressive building in a central location. We will return.

We looked forward to our breakfast and ordered avocado and egg on toast. Very small portions and far too expensive for the food we got. Won't come again.

Since becoming a Bermondsey chain pub, the place has becomes the pits! Worse in fact, it has become a filthy, disgusting health & safety hazard. From pensioners falling over dirty toys on the sticky carpet to toddlers spewing up over the seating, carpet and next table, the staff gave said table a mediocre wipe but left the rest of the vomit for customers to tread in and sit in. Today, I sat on the previous customers food which was stuck to and ground in to the upholstery. The waitress brought our coffees, but left the previous customers plates, food left overs, drinks and screwed up napkins. Upon taking it all to the till myself, I enquired whether or not tables are wiped down between customers? “We’ve had a rush on” I was told curtly. A group of people vacated 4 tables next to us. Customers quickly sat down and not a single table was wiped. I’ve watched customers come in, observe what’s going on and cancel their orders and leave without eating or drinking. To say this pub used to be in the top 5 places to go for breakfast, a drink and a warm and friendly welcome in the area, it wouldn’t even make it into the top 50! And they have the audacity to display a sign saying; “Vote for us, Cafe of the year 2019”. Not likely. This place needs either a visit from an Environmental Health Inspector or it needs shutting down altogether until Bermondsey Pub Chain Co. realise that it’s existing incarnation is far from what locals around here want. Try Dill & Bay, Jail Yard Diner or Blacker Hall Farm if you want quality fresh food, as opposed to un-fresh, heated up frozen tripe. As for the attitudes displayed by the new staff, the place simply isn’t worth your custom and money. RIP The old tenant-run Midland. It’s shocking how a brewery can run such a place into the ground!

We walked in and was welcomed straight away by a young lady, we ordered our drinks and took a seat, the decor is lovely. We ordered the pieminster Moo Pie which did not disappoint. Great food, good friendly atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit, plus there is a little coffee shop inside

Visited the midland on several occasions since the new brewery took over and I have to say as a regular the standards have dropped. Food served and plates left on the next table for over an hour. Mums with babies leaving toys all over the pub, which an elderly person nearly slipped on. In one corner the table was cover in food and the seats were filthy from the children. Worse thing we had to ask the staff to clean it but they just wiped the table! On another occassion a child vomited in the seat and again it was left by the parents and the bar staff! Hate to think what the people staying there think as the water glasses that are left out are filthy. Such a shame as this place used to be a brilliant local :-(

We attended for our street party. We ate from the £14pp buffet menu and pre-booked food for 7:30 to be served in the cafe area.

Esperaba con ansias el nuevo menú, ya que somos clientes habituales que utilizan el pub una o dos veces por semana para la comida. Solía amar la hamburguesa de pollo (ya no se ofrece). Me alegro de ver una ensalada en el menú (la opción más saludable), pero me decepcionó lo que llegó: pollo caliente con salsa sobre una ensalada fría que tenía un aderezo de vinagre también - el sabor combinado era amargo y desagradable. Como era de esperar, el brócoli asado era aún difícil e imposible de comer. La presentación fue mala, ya que parecía que se había lanzado en el recipiente. En general, la peor comida que he tenido allí. El resto del menú era un asunto pobre, que ofrece muy pocas opciones si no comes carne de res o pescado y papas fritas. . . Sé que es comida de pub, pero aun así. Probablemente no comeré allí de nuevo.

My car needed some work at Coopers of Oulton and they recommended this place while the work was done on my car (I highly recommend Coopers of Oulton by the way).

Excellent nights stay, Staff on arrival very friendly and helpful. explained all about the room and the breakfast service. Room was clean tidy and warm, Converted stables and only 5 rooms. Beds are comfortable and we slept very well. Breakfast was lovely, freshly made and had a good choice off food options.

We were staying nearby and popped in here for lunch remembering it from a previous visit a couple of years ago. We were not disappointed, it was very good quality and great value for money.

Called in here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. We had the homemade fish finger sandwiches which were sizeable and totally delicious.

I have been coming to the midland for many years and it has always been a comfortable accommodating place. Today I came and asked for the usual bacon and cheese ciabatta which was fine they said I could still have it but they wouldn’t allow me to have the garlic mayo that I always have to accompany it. They had the garlic and the mayo I even offered to mix it my self but they would not and gave me a refund rather than being customer friendly. I was also told that if i emailed the company I would get the same answer. It is the same with glasses you have to drink out of the glass they say wether you like it or not. The staff are over worked when it is busy the bar staff have tend the bar clean the tables and stock the bar alone. I will say when the orders are straight forward they do come out as expected but anything different causes confusion. Most of the menu is over priced for what you get apart from the lunch menu

My mom and I stayed for 1 week at The Midland Hotel while on vacation, in June 2018. During our entire stay, staff were super friendly and very helpful. Rooms are a little small, but very clean. Breakfast was included which was yummy. Bus line out the front door and small walk to the train station. We would recommend this place if in the area. Stayed for one night for a business meeting nearby. Lovely welcome by the manageress, the room ticks all the boxes and is clean and tidy. Great breakfast with a lovely coffee. All the staff I met were polite friendly and helpful. Would stay again if in the area. The stable rooms are full of character.

My friend and I had just walked along the Leeds canal from Leeds to Woodlesford and up a steep hill from the Lock so we were pretty hungry to say the least.

We’ve been in here a few times in the last month,I cannot believe that the man called Darren gets a wage,last time we were in all he did was stand & talk for a while,then go & sit down with customers for a further 20 mins,Don’t know what his job is

Very average with small portions. Table next to us were extremely loud to the point where we had to shout to each other to hear ourselves over the drunken foul mouthed squabble in the corner. Nearly had our heels taken off when leaving the table by an old couple that obviously wanted our seats! Very average food nothing to write home about and mediocre service. We will not return for food as we were not impressed at all.

My wife and I stayed over for one night whilst on a birdwatching trip to RSPB reserves at Fairburn Ings and St Aidan's. We were absolutely delighted with our stay! Without exception all the staff were most helpful, friendly and welcoming - we couldn't have wished for better service! Our room was fabulous, the facilities were excellent - the bed was really comfortable so we had a great night's sleep. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal in a wonderful atmosphere and next morning we revelled in a truly scrumptious breakfast, one of the best I have ever had - the sausages were to die for! The Midland provides fantastic quality and exceptional value for money. We will definitely make a return visit in the future and recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.

Didn't eat here, but had drinks and loved the atmosphere. The food looked great! Lots of families, couples and friends all appearing to have a great time.

I visited today at 5pm with my partner and son as we wanted to get a nice meal, we visit frequently but haven’t been since it was taken over. We left without ordering any food as the new menu is shocking, very basic and poor food options. It was a lovely family pub and today we felt out of place. Overheard a member of staff training somebody saying that it is all about first impressions, well ours was terrible! Won’t be visiting again and neither will the rest of our friends and family.

We eat here often - either in the cafe for snacks and really good coffee or in the bar area for the fuller menu. The food is always excellent, served promptly, fresh and good portions and not just your usual pub grub either ! . The waiting staff are very helpful and attentive and we can even take our dog in !

Popped in last night to see what it was like since it had been taken over. No food being served, only posh crisps (no quavers etc so obviously discouraging families). Staff weren't particularly friendly. If you want food ring first!

Good choice on the menu and very helpful if you need something slightly different. We asked for chicken goujons off the children's menu (as we liked the look of it) and could we get it in adult portions - it was no bother at all. Helpful cheery staff and big platefuls of food served up. Specials on the board too. Would go back.

Stayed for one night last Tuesday, nice & cosy pub (very reasonably priced drinks), friendly & welcoming staff, very fresh & clean room, healthy & tasty breakfast, on-sight parking in a pleasant village setting. One gets a senses of friendly and very well loved family run business. We paid only £69.00 for two of us for very comfortable over night stay. In my opinion, currently so underpriced and they deserve to charge more to maintain such a good service.

Visited here last night, (Saturday) for a couple of hours. All in all, polite staff, and nice pub. It was not very full whilst we we were there, but I understand it can get quite busy.Drinks prices were on a par with other similar local pubs. We would return again if in the area.

Stayed for one night recently, room was superb, breakfast really good, staff polite and helpful, 60 quid a night you really can't go wrong ( that was for two staying btw). Only got 5 rooms so limited availability, but much better value than the big chain down the road. Free parking and the pub is right next door so you can have a few and take the very short walk home.Also has a coffee shop and some delicious looking cakes, but was far too full on the breakfast.

We stayed nearby for work recently and The Midland Hotel was the perfect option for dinner.The pub is welcoming and clean and tidy, the staff are friendly and attentive and the food is lovely. There a tv's dotted around without taking over which meant my husband could keep a sneaky eye on the football without it being the focus of our evening. The pub also has a cafe attached and was a great base for my lunch one day, again friendly staff and efficient.

A popular village pub between Swillington and Rothwell. The menu has a good selection of pub favourites and at lunch you can find a good selection of sandwiches and lighter bites.

Today myself & my husband called at the Midland for a late lunch.There was a slight misunderstand with our order,but nothing that couldn't be rectified.The steaks we had were delicious.The complimentary coffee & desserts we were offered, were an unexpected bonus & again delicious.Many thanks to courteous bar man that served us.We will definately be recommending The Midland to friends & family.Excellent customer service.

Been numerous times for lunch maybe an off day but no-one serving behind the bar stood there for 10 minutes before I'm asked if I am being served?? Who by the invisible man! Ordered food which included Jacket potatoes one if which was not cooked, chap came and took it away, we waited for a replacement and waited....... eventually when the rest of us had finished I assume who was the duty manager came over and asked what was wrong, offered alternative that took 10 minutes to arrive! Customer service appalling but eventually offered complimentary coffees for everyone, what size would you like he asked! ERRRR large ones please you have disappointed customers here! Don't know if there has been a change in staff or they might be new but that's not an excuse for undercooked food and poor service, such a shame as the place itself is lovely

Come here regularly with our daughter and elderly parents to enjoy the Sunday lunch and always well looked after. Portions generous and always oblige with extra gravy and keeping a roast beef back for us when we book. Have only lived in the area a short time and already consider ourselves regulars.

Since they made the coffee shop element to the Midland and refurbished it, it's a great place for coffee and cake or in our case for breakfast. Lovely environment and it has a lovely feeling about it. I have been in the summer too enjoying a drink in outside area, which, despite being next to the busy road was actually really nice. Recommended

Since it's refurbishment a couple of years back it's become a great little pub.The staff are friendly, beer is good and the food is great. Always busy on a weekend but service is always quick. Worth a visit

Has a breakfast, which was fab but pricey. It certainly moves the full English away from the greasy spoon image. Would I go again, yes I would.

Stopped over Saturday night for The Emmerdale tour. Room was beautiful clean & spacious Pub was nice staff friendly we arrived late so no food so we went over the road to Chinese got a extra carton & forks sat & ate in our room it was lovely. Breakfast in the morning was nice. Missing mushrooms & black pudding but I saw if you came in off the street & ordered they got this. Think they should cut back on eggs & add mushrooms at least. Will stay again rooms in court yard away from building. With free car parking. Couldn't ask for more.

Fantastic little place to meet up with friends and family for a quick snack in the café/Pub. Suitable for everyone, All made welcome (Bikers included).My friend and I sat outside with the dog and ordered food from the café. We can both recommend the toasted panini Tuna melt & toasted Ham and cheese panini followed by home made chocolate cake. All cooked to perfection and with good customer service too.

We went for dinner with 2 families that included a toddler and baby in capsule...plenty of space. Plenty of ale on tap to choose from. There was a model train that skirted the room up at ceiling level...kept the toddler entertained! Parking on site.

I visited the midland for a bite to eat.The menu was very limited, mainly burgers, but I chose the rump steak.It was very tasty and cooked to perfection. The chips were amazing and there was a little side salad with it.The beer could have done with a better range and been kept a little better. I choose a landlord and my father in law had a Stella at £4.05 a pint.

Stayed here with our little dog got a cheap deal great pleasant quick check in girl on reception smiled all the time all staff are a credit.As we had a dog we didn't need the room cleaning but the girls still left coffee milk towels etc at the door great breakfast 5 star stay will be defiantly returning.

Well which part to start with first. I know let's begin with the discrimination party of having some members of our party being blind shall we. As a party that had made a booking to actually choose to eat here which we thought was the best thing to do. On arrival to the establishment we were told that as we had a GUIDE DOG within our group which as it says on the tin is a working dog and not a pet we couldn't use the restaurant because of this which is totally against the law for starters and the brewery will also be hearing about it we got put in the so called lounge/tap room part of the pub which was not what we wanted but we ran with it as we didn't want to make it an issue. After a hour wait for drinks the starters were ordered which another 30 minutes went by and we still ended up waiting for one that was late arriving. We then waited another 30 minutes for the mains. The food wasn't an issue but the service and the fact we were treated like we were not wanted. Well we will not be using this establishment again.

Went here for a family get together, 17 of us adults and children which for most places can be a challenge. Got to say the staff handled it superbly. The food was hot, tasty and plentiful. The staff maintained a great sense of humour.Will definitely go back and can recommend.

This place is great. Stayed here for two days visiting family nearby. The staff are all friendly, the food to die for, lively pub at night-this place has done it right!!

Often meet friends here for morning coffee, nice compact coffee shop sells cakes, sandwiches and breakfast. The pub also serves food lunch and evening, had a good salad lunch but not eaten there in the evening. Been in for drinks in the evening, Nice modern decor. Good local pub with a variety of uses.

Really happy with lunchtime menu. We had the steak option which was really good. Nice feel about the place. Will visit again.

Love this little place... Take the little man sit in the pub side and watch the train go round the roof... Great cup of coffee and the American pancakes are AWESOME
