Three of us visited on Saturday evening. It was lovely to see it so busy and the atmosphere was great. However, the food was pretty average and service a little slow. Nice to try, though.

Another fantastic meal at Madras Spice last night. Never disappoints. Starters of meat Samosas and chicken pakora were tasty and fresh. I tried the chicken tikka Rezalla as a main and it was so good. Chunks of tender chicken were plentiful with a delicious rich sauce and soft tasty peppers. Will definitely order again. As usual, the staff were friendly and attentive with a warm welcome.

Service was appalling. It took approximately 15 mins for the poppadoms to arrive. We had to ask to order our main course. We also had to go to the bar to request some more drinks which again took ages to arrive. And finally they presented us with the bill when we hadn’t even received our main course! They didn’t offer to amend the bill to reflect the poor service and were not very apologetic. If it looks busy, don’t go!

Paid a £50 deposit to reserve a table for Mother’s Day . When the bill came the dirty thieves tried to keep the deposit and refused to take it off the bill. Originally our table was for 14 people but unfortunately my brother and his wife and kids couldn’t make it , we informed the restaurant as soon as we found out and they opened the we needed to amend the numbers . They said because we changed our numbers they were not willing to take the deposit off our bill. We are very regular customers going a few times a month as the food is nice however after how they ruined our mother day meal after we spent a lot of money on 9 starters, mains, sides and plenty of drinks we won’t be returning !Very disappointed the staff were rude and aggressive. Also the restaurant was full to the brim not a free seat the entire evening so they didn’t lose any business by us amending our table numbers . Also because it was busy the door was constantly open and a cold draft was coming in making the restaurant and food cold! They missed food of the order and my sister in law was served a drink in a glass that had a huge crack in it causing her to cut her finger. The staff didn’t care just changed the drink no apologies or compensation. Overall disappointing don’t bother ! Try the curry cottage in on Washway rd instead the food and customer services is much better !

Lamb samba, OMG best curry in the north no rubbish no silly colours just really good curry, and actually spicy when it's supposed. To be. Good service always. Nice to my kid. Popular always full. Has a little parking round the back.

We thought we would try some were new for a curry. We weren't disappointed staff were friendly and the food was very nice. We were 2 couples out for a curry. We all agreed it was a lovely restaurant and a 1st time we all cleared our plates. The portions weren't small either. We will be going a again or may ordered a takeaway

This is now the 7th time myself and our family have had Christmas dinner here, it’s by far the best value, £30 ph. Loads of choice, seriously great service and a lovely atmosphere. I did ring around other places just for curiosity regarding pricing and the lowest was £70ph which is scandalous. Great place, lovely staff, incredible food, thanks again.

Maybe I was unlucky but my meal was absolutely terrible. I ordered Lamb Pasanda and when it arrived, it was bright pink and tasted like tomato soup with lots of sugar in. Waiter tried to tell me that was how the dish was! Lamb Pasanda is one of my favourite dishes, I've had this so many times and it bore no resemblance to the real thing. The Manager ordered me another meal which arrived shortly after. It was much better but a bit hot and very dry. However, I thanked him and ate it! The place is quite small, and more like a cafe really, I was not impressed and will probably not return as I much prefer the more classy Masala Lounge opposite the Town Hall, their Lamb Pasanda is out of this world!

Over charged all of us for food and drinks, miss pricing items. Took around 2hrs after order for our food to arrive. Service was terrible. There was a fly in my drink and the server looked at me as if I’d put it in there myself. Overall bad experience. Would not recommend

Not been here for a while but each time it is worth it. Tonight nipped in for quick takeaway instead of dining in and now my daughter is planning her next order👍- great food, friendly staff- thank you

First time tried this place and boy was I not disappointed. Ordered set meal for 2 asked them to change buna for madras wich they forgot to do but the bhuna was amazing and the rogan josh even better Really could be the Nicest rogan josh I've had in a long long while. Will defiantly be back thanks.

I DON'T NO IF SOME OF THESE REVIEWS ARE A DIFFERENT RESTAURANT been coming to this restaurant for years changed hands a few times but MADRAS SPICE HAS been here for 6 years we have eaten all over the Midlands, Birmingham in some great Indian restaurants but this restaurant is fantastic great service excellent food cant beat it 9 OF US WENT CHRISTMAS EVE FOOD AMAZING Thank you for a great evening give it a try you wont be sorry.

Went to celebrate a birthday. The food was very poor. I had the honey duck which I sent back because of the overpowering taste of salt. It can back less than 5 minutes later exactly the same! Others in the party were also very disappointed. We will never go back!

Really good takeout during lockdown! We've not been here before, although it was recommended by friends who eat there frequently. The food was lovely, with tender meat and beautiful Indian flavours, We will definitely return for a sit down meal when it can re-open!

This place used to be great but since lockdown service and food has really gone downhill. It’s always late and the food no longer taste fresh. My naan was burned and biryani was mushy. They also forgot my chutney tray, unfortunately because of all the above I won’t be rushing back.

During the past few months I've been having a few deliveries from the Madras Spice. The food has been fantastic as usual. So can I suggest you try their great food by takeaway or use their efficient delivery service.

We booked are table all the staff were excellent .The food was really nice and tasty good value for money.Very clean esp the toilets.Would recommend to anyone.

The food was ok but slightly overpriced, he also demanded that we order 2 mains even though we had 2 starters, they said they were in hard times, that isn't our issue quite frankly. I would not recommend this restraunt to anyone.

Staff are friendly and extremely helpful and the food is just out of this world, we are so lucky to have such good food in this area.....

Poor tasting food, overpriced for what it is and the portions are small. The restaurant itself lacks atmosphere and is quite shabby. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone as there are far better Indian restaurants out there.

Great meal as always, very attentive staff and spotlessly clean, the only downfall was they brought my friend the wrong sweet, but she ate it anyway. We didn't complain because everything else was perfect.

This restaurant is local to us and so visit fairly frequently. Never had a bad meal here. Service is excellent, and food is beautiful. Naan bread is so fresh, everything is tasty and well presented. Staff are friendly. No need to travel into Manchester when we can get this standard in walking distance. Worth a visit

Extremely disappointed with the extremely rude behaviour of the manager who has demanded us to order 2 main dishes when we only ordered 1 main course and couple of starters and some nan breads, he said he can only take the order if we order at least 2 main courses between 3 of us (me, wife and 7 yrs old daughter). I would have visited this place for at least 30-40 times for takeaways, still manager refused to take our order unless we order 2 main dishes, I still don't understand who is he to say how and what should i order ?Finally we walked out of the restaurant and been to masala lounge next to sale tram station who is happy to accomodate us

Ordered from Madras Spice a few times and the staff were always helpful and kind. Food is average at best, salmon tikka was very good but the rest was just ok, not very authentic and definitely lacking in flavour. To be fair It’s more of a takeaway than a restaurant, same goes for the standard of the food. Sale doesn’t have many good Indian restaurants and Madras Spice is probably the best option.

Been enjoying the food here since it became Madras Spice, Without a doubt the best in the area by far, Reviews cannot do it the justice it deserves, you must try it out, you will not be disappointed.

Last 2 times I have had a delivery from madras spice it has been the wrong orde. Don't understand why they can get a simple order wrong.

First time visit with Family, the place was full early evening. Shown to are table very quick which we had reserve, menu and drinks followed very quick. We ordered 8 different curries with an assortment of rice and nan bread. No complaints from anyone.

We use this restaurant on a fairly regular basis - really tasty, good value & lots of choice (although I'm very boring & have lamb tikka masala everytime!) Always polite & helpful with a warm welcome. The food is really consistently good, better than good, it's excellent! Well worth a visit, the house wine is good too, so what are you waiting for?

Everything was really delicious, great dips with poppadoms, delicious light naan break - tarka dahl was absolutely amazing. We can’t wait to come back!

Been to this restaurant a number of times. The food is excellent, service great, and really clean. It's so good we really don't want to go to any other Indians. You will need to book at weekends.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with coeliac disease so need to eat gluten free. Before the diagnosis I’ve eaten at Madras Spice numerous time and found the food and service great hence the four star rating. I went last night for a meal and when we were sitting down asked if they could cater for me being gluten free. Unfortunately they said they couldn’t which is a real shame - and a surprise as many curry restaurants do. We ended up leaving and getting a take away from somewhere else. If you’re not gluten free though I’d recommend.

Not much to say about this place, the food was average, nans were clearly undercooked, madras not hot enough. Also the place feels a bit cramped. Staff was nice and professional

We turned up without a reservation on a Friday evening and although the place was nearly full they went out of their way to accommodate us.

Visited this wonderful restaurant last night. Had tandoori chicken which was cooked perfectly to my liking, burnt on the outside but cooked right through, this was followed by a very tasty garlic mannchura and a tandoori roti. A takeaway of lamb Vindaloo and Aloo Gobi was also ordered. This restaurant is top noch with outstanding food, service and ambience. Very highly recommended.

We’ve been here a few times now and have always enjoyed the food. The restaurant is only small but the staff are very friendly. I had the chicken tikka shashlik which was delicious as was the king prawn shashlik sizzler. The chicken korma is what our daughter had and this is really tasty. The prices are reasonable. There’s also parking at the back of the restaurant for several vehicles.

Great Indian curry’s cooked to perfection and plentiful as well the staff are very friendly and polite well worth a visit.

Just had the Sunday special of tandoori chicken, lamb saag and a tandoori roti, everything excellent. Service really good. I also ordered a takeaway of aloo gobi and lamb madras which also taste outstanding. Highly recommended.

We have had several take out curries when in Sale and they have always been very good. We will continue to visit the Madras Spice and would recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for reasonably priced food.

Recently adopted this place as our regular Curry haunt. Excellent service. As it's not big restaurant, it may be advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Very nice food, a bit spicier than my hometown Indian so my meal was a bit hot for me but ok, very good service and a nice touch to get a free brandy at the end, overall very good.

We have been to the madras spice a few times now. It changed hands a few months ago and what a change for the better. The chicken madras and chicken rogan josh are the best I’ve tasted for a long time. The staff are very helpful and friendly and have a great sense of humour. We have never been disappointed. And would greatly recommend it for people who like a good curry

If you are looking for a cheap, traditional Indian restaurant then you can't go wrong with this place.

Keep coming back to this restaurant tried others in the area and for the quality of the food and really friendly helpful service they are not a patch on the madras spice. They make you feel at home and are always smiling. Give this one a go and I’m sure you’ll love it. Would recommend and go back again.

Visited this superb restaurant and had the Sunday £10.95 special. Everything was cooked to perfection. Service was also very efficient and friendly. Great value for money and very highly recommended.

First time since change of ownership. Loved the original restaurant and staff and the new one did not disappoint. Chicken Korma was lovely as were all the 4 adult meals ordered. Service and waiters really friendly and helpful especially for my dad who is not a spicy food fan but thoroughly enjoyed his fish dish.

Ate here last Friday evening. The quality of the cooking here is impressive. Had some lovely poppadoms and the usual sundries to start followed by delicious chicken chat and meat samosas. The mains were really tasty. The chicken tikka dupiaza was fantastic. Plenty of tender succulent chicken in a thick tasty sauce with plenty of onions. My husband had theSatkora lamb dish which came in a lovely rich tasty sauce more like a flavoursome gravy. The lamb was soft and tender and melted in the mouth. My son had the Garlic Mannchura chicken which again was good quality and tender with a great flavour although he would have preferred it to be slightly more spicy. Service is attentive but not intrusive and staff are helpful and knowledgeable. If you want to change the spice rating of a particular dish they are happy to oblige. This is a great restaurant with fantastic food. Would Highly recommend it.

Been to this restaurant again to see if the first time was just a one off but no the meal was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful in fact we had a great laugh with them. All in all a very good meal service friendly staff and clean. Would recommend and go again.

I was a regular at the Midland Balti and was disappointed when it closed; however ‘Madras Spice’ managed the impossible, the food was actually better than its predecessor.

Visited this superb restaurant this last Sunday afternoon for the first time and found the food and service first class. I had chicken tandoori starter, South Indian garlic lamb with a tandoori naan. Everything cooked to perfection and very tasty. I enjoyed it all so much that I ordered a take away. Very highly recommended.

Came here for my birthday with my family and boyfriend. We all enjoyed our meals, I had chicken saag which was cooked beautifully.

Best curry in sale by far, the lamb is the best I've had in a curry cooked perfect and mouth watering sauces and great portions. The staff are all so friendly and will do any thing you require. It's a ten from Glen 😂😂

Table for 2 at 8:00, we’ve just paid up and left, after 2 hours, without a main course. Shocking service! Such a shame as we live local and would’ve visited again.

Out of chance we decided to get a takeaway from this restaurant I had previously noted that in comparison to other restaurants or takeaways they are expensive however we still ordered and hoped the food would be worth it.

We live opposite the curry house and we were always put off by the exterior until our neighbors suggested we go out there for dinner. I was more than impressed with the food, it was so delicious and it's now become our favourite Indian.The staff are well presented and have nailed customer service to a T.Great evening out I couldn't recommend it enough!

Had fantastic meal at Madras Spice last night with friends. Food delicious and so fresh, everyone enjoyed their meal. Great atmosphere. Not surprised they were so busy all night. Lovely waiting staff. If you haven't been yet give them a go :-D

One of the nicest curries I have ever had...and I've had a few! Raved to my husband and we got a takeaway from there a few days later (greedy ) and this was just as good. Clearly I made sure his was good too (it was). Would highly reccomend!

As we live very locally, it was time to revisit this popular restaurant. We visited on a quiet Tuesday evening. We shared an excellent Aloo Chaat on Puri (my favourite Indian starter) and my main course the Lahori Sizzler Gosht was fantatstic. My family were also very satisfied with their main courses. Service was as good and attentive as you will get from the friendly young men at the helm. Great value and a classy meal.

Lovely food will always make it hotter or more mild on request never fail to deliver great food and fabulous customer service. Suitable for all the family and really affordable compared to some other local curry houses.

I was visiting Sale from the US and this is the best Indian food I have ever had. The lamb curry was delicious. Great family run restaurant that makes nearly everything themselves. Raj is the restaurant manger and he was so attentive. Really amazing food and service. I will definitely return any time I visit Sale!

I decided at the last minute that I would like a curry for my birthday with my in laws and two kids (both under three). We arrived at 5 so we wouldn't disturb those who want a quiet time and from the moment we arrived we were greeted with smiling faces and a friendly service. The food was excellent and arrived in good time but the real positive for me was that when one of my children went into meltdown mode a member of staff came over to talk to her and distract her - and it worked! We will definitely come here again - very child friendly!! A+++++

We tried this place as a result of TA reviews.We have been back many times since! The food is really good and very well presented but that is pretty standard for Indian/Tandoori restaurants these days. What sets this place apart is the service.The waiters are very friendly and talk to you, something which is quite rare in restaurants I find. They also remember you if you return. They are great with kids too.They see you out of the door and provide you with a complimentary drink if you wish one. It is always a really nice experience. I am of the opinion that a good Indian restaurant is something to keep returning to as they are such a mixed bag. This is one of those gems.
