Midgleys in Bradford

Took advantage of a lunchtime offer of fish and chips and peas. These were delicious, the best we have tasted in a long time. We drove to the Cow and Calf to eat them with a cup of Yorkshire tea. It doesn't get much better than this.

Bad service from the start from the female server no can I help you sour face no thank you and the other female assistant just stood and stared you out. The food chips so soggy, fish average.

Fish cooked to perfection. Batter crisp golden cooked at correct temperature ie not soggy. Chips golden, good quality potatoes, generous portion. Will visit again next time I visit. Highly recommended.

I'm a vegetarian, and was pleased that their website said they could cook chips in vegetable oil. I tried to order chips and halloumi fries on their website - it was not working, so I tried to ring - nobody answered. I drove down there, only to be told they couldn't do chips in vegetable oil any more, although they could cook the halloumi in it. I still ordered the halloumi fries with sweet chilli dip, but on getting home found they hadn't put the dip in. The halloumi fries were ok, but I won't be going there again.

Midgleys of Ilkley. Stayed on holiday at Ilkley and had their fish and chips on Bonfire Night. I can honestly say they were really tasty and not had any that good for a long time. Everyone very friendly too. Well done Midgleys.

Try several times to ring this place to order food as at work and never answers to take orders Shame as I do enjoy this place when they know how to take orders

Visited for two bags of take away chips and two cups of tea. The bags of chips were mainly consisted of brittle off cuts of the potato, at best there was about a dozen ‘proper’ chips in each portion, the rest you could not put your fork into as they shattered. We asked for salt & vinegar whose taste was imperceptible. The tea was like dishwater, Why can’t they make a cup of tea that looks like tea and not ‘milky water’, overall our bag of chips sitting watching the sunset on Ilkley Moor was a let down as far as the food was concerned. We won’t be coming back !

Ordered Spam Fritter and chips online. Cost £4. Shop price is £3.90???? Chips were really good, but Spam fritter was an absolute disgrace. I’ve had slices of bacon that were thicker than the Spam. The batter was also hanging off it. Greasy and terrible value.

Have used this fishshop for many years and have always rated it. However on the last two occasions we have used it in the last month including this evening the fish has been extremely poor quality and tasteless. I am not even sure it was haddock it was so bad. Its a shame because it is the nearest to where i live so will have to go further for them in future, but i wont be going back.

Gluten free fish, batter ok but fish very thin and too dry, very disappointing. I should have returned it and regret not doing so.

We have been comming here for years and the fish has always been great. However the last two times the fish has been terrible. I always ask for a well done fish as i hate soggy under cooked batter. The last two times the batter was white just under the surface and we ended up throwing them. Note sure if there is a new chef but it seems to have gone down hill a bit. We live over an hour away and i dont think i will rush back.

After 2 on the trot wont be back,click and collect straight home 3miles on to warm plates and clap cold.Very dissapointing.Perhaps c&c means meals are standing around. Also ordering was a ball ache.

Whilst on holiday in Ilkley enjoyed the delights of Midgleys on two occasions. It was so easy to order online with a given time slot. The food was cooked fresh and piping hot, generous portions and nicely packaged . Great tasting chips, lovely fish and nice crispy batter on the fish and sausage. The pricing was good too! It’s just a shame we don’t have a branch where we live! Throughly recommended

Travel from skipton to this chippy. Always very good food. Staff always polite. Very clean. I would recommend ordering food online at the moment.

Fortunate location, for them. If wafer thin fish and re-hydrated powdered batter is your thing, then you’ll love this place. Over-priced food, taking advantage of their location on the main road through town. Much, much better fish and chips elsewhere in Ilkley.
