I've stayed at Middle Eight about 12-15 times (I've lost count), so I think I'm in a good position to give a review. In short: I'm a huge fan. Everything is genuinely excellent. The value, the location, the rooms, the service, the bar, the restaurant, and even the gym. I stay in a lot of hotels and I also manage a lot of people in my job. I think I can tell when a hotel is well managed. It hits me as soon as I walk in the door, feel the ambience and start interacting with the team. At Middle Eight, it's as close to faultless as you can get (at least without paying double or triple the price in one of the top hotels). An aspect that I really appreciate include the rooms being very quiet. I've never had a problem with sleep in Middle Eight, unlike many other hotels. I think they've invested a lot of money into sound insulation. (Just don't stay on the regular rooms on the first floor as you can hear the music from the bar... this was my only negative experience in all of my stays. The suites are also on the first floor but I don't think they are above the bar, so they might not have the noise issue. I've never stayed in them.) I'm also a fan of the gym. It's not brilliant and it doesn't take many people to feel cramped. But the bikes, rowing machines and treadmills are all very well maintained. It's surprising how many hotels don't get this right – even a very expensive resort in the Maldives that I stayed at recently. If exercise is important to you, then you need a reliable gym and Middle Eight has got it. Thanks to everyone at Middle Eight. You've consistently delivered an excellent hospitality experience.

Stay here for your trip to London!! We stayed here for 2nts in March 2025 and could not have been more impressed. The location is great (4mins to Holburn, 10 to Covent Garden tubes), the rooms are beautiful and clean (and quiet with a comfy bed!) and a good size for London (having a couch and luggage cupboard is great!), the bar is great and every single employee we engaged with were over the top accommodating and friendly. Special shout out to Saq who sorted an early check in for us after an overnight flight and Leandro who managed our check out.

It is the staff that makes this hotel. I have stayed in many London hotels over the years, from small B&Bs to 5*, and this one, by far, is the best value for money. The concierge, maintenance staff, bar staff, cleaners, and reception were all superb. Middle eight will deinitely be our hotel of choice when next in London.

This is by far my favourite hotel in London! It’s immaculately clean, the rooms are lovely! The reception team treat you like royalty! Giving you a glass of Prosecco when you check in! Saq even took the time to personally quickly show us around, pointing out the concierge, bar, lounge, restaurant & lifts. So much better service than when front desk just checks you in, gives you a room key & then you realise you have no idea how to get to your room or where anything is & you can’t go back to ask now as they’re busy serving someone else. So I thought that was a lovely touch! Thank you Saq! The location is fantastic, it’s only 1 minute walk to Holborn Station & it was only a short walk to the shop’s, pubs & restaurants in Covent Garden & the theatre we were watching a show at. It was also really convenient for our visit to the Arsenal stadium, just 5 stops on the Piccadilly line from Holborn Station. Also easy for getting to & from Paddington Station. Rooms were really quiet, black out curtains were fantastic, the bed was so comfortable I even checked the make of the mattress & the pillows!! I rarely sleep so well!! We only ordered food once, from the bar menu, the Wagyu burgers & Sicilian Salad were really good. This is our second stay here, our last time was a couple of years ago, we’ve tried a few other hotels in between but Middle Eight is definitely our favourite! Check out was also super easy, we’d already paid for the room in advance. Our card had been pre authorised for any extras. There was a short queue for check out. We wanted to leave our bags as our train home was later that evening & we had plans that day, I was just starting to worry we were going to be late as a customer was querying something with front desk & a lovely member of staff came over, took our bags & room key, gave us a ticket to collect our luggage later, it took less than 30 seconds! Fantastic service!

I booked the Middle Eight again after a stay last year, the location is 2nd to none being out of the way but minutes from the local attractions and areas. The rooms are lovely the beds comfortable. The shower is a good power, with plenty of amenities. I booked a mid-range room paid a good price including breakfast so value for money on paper was excellent. Service, whilst we spent little time in the hotel, breakfast was mediocre slow service, awful toast rubbish cheap thin bread was its sourdough like advertised? Who knows and was it even toasted who knows. Insipid stale and awful, Certainly not a lot of choice available for a 5-star hotel. The service was slow, took 15 mins to take our order, then 20 mins to arrive the Greek yogurt and oats were stale. The coffee small and you can only order one so maybe eat out for Breakfast wish I had.

This was our fourth stay at this hotel and once again the service was exceptional. We were staying in London as we had an early morning appointment at great Ormond street a few minutes up the road. As usual the staff do everything they can to make us comfortable. Saq and Gilal were especially helpful with our chaotic two year old, even upgrading us to a slightly larger room to allow for the cot and providing the rather usual evening request of bread and butter for the little one. Once again the exceptional service has made what can sometimes be a stressful visit to London a real joy. Photo of the little one enjoying the lounge.

For the price of this hotel it’s not worth it! The staff was not friendly at check in (no one offered a welcome drink but as I sat in the lobby I noticed when white guest came in they offered them drinks…(that’s how I knew it was there) there’s a black women who works near the bar who was VERY WELCOMING I didn’t catch her name but you’ll know it’s her with her nurturing spirit ! I’ve stayed at cheaper hotels with better service and rooms for aesthetics. NOT WORTH IT ! Also I was in a quiet area with no one there and one of the front desk workers came up to me and said I couldn’t be there if I wasn’t a guest (the first night I got there I had an issue with my room and he was the one who came up) stop deleting my comment this place needs to be EXPOSED

Nice hotel but not 5* in my opinion. Brilliant location but hotel was lacking the extra something. Room looked tired, wallpaper peeling in some places, there was a broken light did report to reception not long after check in but nothing was done. Only 1 pair of slippers, not many choice of sweets, tea bags etc as you would expect in a 5*. Went to the bar for a quick.dri k before we got ready to go out, limited lager options and when asked if any bar snacks, nuts, or crisps etc. They said it was Sunday and have run out! Again not 5* service, if they run out of things on a Sunday then surely room rates should reflect that. Was an ok stay, nothing major but nothing amazing either.

We stayed at the Middle Eight in early December 2024. We were spending 2 nights in London after a 15 day river cruise. We had a fare amount of luggage and I use a mobility scooter. The staff at reception were very nice, however they did not have my requests for a high floor and a non down/feather room. We were placed in a room on the third floor that was difficult to enter with my scooter because of the tight angle in the hallway. The room was very nice, but "bespoke" (a very over used word in contemporary hotel jargon.) The room had irritating lighting controls. I'm glad I'm relatively tech savvy, but most people would probably struggle with them. It took 2 trips to get all of our luggage up to the room, we did however have assistance from the bell staff. The elevators are rather small. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was nice, but small sink area. Good sized shower. Our second night did not go very well. We returned from a long day and wanted a drink in the bar. Unfortunately there was a special event (on a Friday night) and in addition to being very loud, we were unable to sit down for a drink. The security guard was very rude to us. After my husband complained to the front desk, they sent up room service beverages. The location was good if you are planning to go to a play as it is very close to the West End.

I was booked in overnight by my daughter as part of theatre treat birthday present. Firstly I was impressed by the quality of the hotel and the friendliness/professionalism of the staff. Also by the fact we could check in to our room despite arriving at around 10.30am. We were offered a complimentary glass of juice on arrival which I thought was a nice touch. My daughter had given us £50 in cash to pay for two breakfasts the following morning. Being Gluten Free I was served mine with no sausage, no hash brown, streaky bacon that was virtually all fat, and two luke-warm undercooked poached eggs. It was pretty unpleasant. I mentioned this when checking out and was told that we wouldn`t be charged the service charge! So basically it still ended up costing £25 for a few baked beans, 3 small mushrooms a couple of tomatoes and a gluten free bagel. I think anyone would agree this is an outrageous rip off. It`s such a shame because it ruined what up until then had been a positive experience. On a separate note my only other gripe was that we were not informed that the room key operated the lift, so we were left quite panicked when the door closed/locked and nothing happened after pressing for our floor. Outside temperature was below freezing but the room had no radiator, just cold air blowing out of a large vent. This produced a loud whirring/humming noise like trying to sleep in an airport lounge. Subsequently we were really cold all night and couldn`t sleep, despite finding a thermostat symbol on the wall and turning the temperature up, it made no difference. No guidance had been given as to how to operate the tech in the room. Pressing the lighbulb symbol on the wall put some lights off but left others on. Some symbols didn`t seem to work at all! It would have been helpful if we had been told or shown how these things operated. Also I was a bit surprised there was no bottled drinking water in the rooms. I think overall there are some improvements that can be made in these areas going forward, but I`m really upset about the breakfast.

Overall I'd skip this place. First off this is on the outskirts of Covent Garden - in reality it's more in the Holborn neighborhood. It's close to a tube station which is good, but I'm not sure what made this hotel 5 stars. By American standards this is more of a 3.5 - 4 star hotel. My biggest issue with this hotel was the staff, who showed little to no interest in us or our stay. We had questions on several occasions which went unanswered and required multiple follow ups, and also twice we asked for something to be brought to the room which required several calls to the front desk and ~ 2 hours of waiting. Over the course of 3 days we called the concierge, room service and housekeeping countless times but no one picked up once. We were even shown some attitude/rudeness from a bartender at their Sycamore bar. Highly doubtful I'd stay here again unfortunately.

Great location 5 minutes walk to Holborn station, 10 minutes into Covent Garden, lots of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and shops within minutes. Warm and friendly welcome, we had two rooms one was ready early so we checked in to that one. We were offered juice or water at check in which was a nice touch but had no idea there was Prosecco until leaving the hotel. A holding charge of £200 for both rooms was taken by credit card and breakfast was offered at £25 per person. The rooms were nice, large comfortable bed, various choices of lighting which was a nice aesthetic touch. We had a mini fridge in each room with a large bottle of water, small Diet Coke, coke and tonic water. We were told at reception the first drinks are complimentary after this there is a charge. I think it would have been nice for other drinks to be stocked such as miniature spirits, wine, beer and small snacks. This is usually the case in room mini bars. We had a small kettle and nespresso machine with various pods and a variety of cups and glasses. In one room we were left a welcome note with a bite size cookie dough but not in the other room, not sure if it was overlooked. The room was quiet during the night even though the hotel is in a very busy area. We slept well! However during the day the housekeeping banged doors in the corridor so loudly and so often odour beds shook and items on the bedside tables moved. The housekeeping staff struggled to understand English and continued to knock on our door three separate times after we tried to say we didn’t require anything. Breakfast was a let down, the restaurant is lovely however, the staff are inattentive and we waited and waited for someone to take our order. We had to ask for our hot drinks which came after we had finished, and the toast came after the hot drinks. The chef could be heard bickering with staff throughout. The selection of pastries extended to 3 types of croissants, with jams, Nutella and marmalade. We tried the full English and the vegetarian breakfast and the next day porridge with milk. We regretted booking the breakfast, for a piece of toast, a cup of tea and a full English there are a huge amount of other places in the area to eat. The porridge was made with water despite asking for milk, not once did a single member of staff ask if our food was okay. It is such a shame as we had high hopes for a hotel of this standard. The rooms were nice, bathroom small but lovely shower and lots of fluffy towels. The staff seemed uninterested, with the exception of the receptionists who were welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately I don’t think we would stay again, given the choice and competition in London we will try somewhere else.

They changed my room to two other rooms but the problem was along the whole hotel although I have been telling the staff that the issue in the whole hotel but they keep saying that it could be your room until the Manager Walter has listened to me and believed that yes the issue with the whole hotel not just my room and they send technician the second day. The third day alarm was on twice at 1 AM and 3AM while we were sleeping because someone had cigarette and they have not found him probably from the first time! Breakfast needs to be improved as well. This stay started out badly as I feel that we were conned by Hotels.com (whom I will never use again). When I tried to cancel, we were told that we could not but in an angry exchange with the hotel (me, not them), the receptionist explained to me that there was very little they could do as Hotels.com were holding the money. Anyway, blah blah, we decided to stay but had minimal expectations for the stay. Like other people on here, we were very pleasantly surprised when we went to store our bags 2 hours early of the check in time and were told that our room was ready. The young lady at reception was super lovely and we were amazed at the hospitality we received throughout our stay in general. The location is perfect - on Great Queen's Street in Covent Garden, right by the Holborn Tube Station. The rooms were great - only issue was the fact that the lighting system seemed super tricky to use, but we got on with it anyway. On our second night we were disturbed twice by the fire alarm going off with no real explanation from the staff at 2am in the morning. I'm guessing they were hoping that most people slept through it, but it was so loud (thankfully, I guess.....) that it really freaked us out. Anyway, long story short, the stay was perfect, the price was competitive, the location was perfect and the staff were lovely. This will probably be our go-to stay now every time we're in London. Thanks for the stay to all the staff at Middle eight!

My family had afternoon tea which was excellent! However, the experience from the moment you enter the hotel was magical. We felt special, thanks to Tomas, Paul and Stephania. Recommend.

My wife and I stayed at the Middle Eight for two nights. We were made to feel very welcome by the friendly reception staff (especially Saq). The hotel is very modern and comfortable with very nice bar and lounge facilities. The location is perfect for Convent Garden, The Strand, Trafalgar Square and many of the theatres. We loved it!

Lovely stay as in our previous visit. Very helpful and attentive team. Good sized room with everything well thought through. Rooms were quiet. Great location, near to Covent Garden but not totally in the crowd madness there.

Amazing hotel with a super friendly and welcoming staff. I loved everything about Middle Eight … with this one of a kind location … everything is just at your fingertips (Covent Garden). To be honest, the cheapest room in the hotel is smaller than in the pictures, enough for one person but a couple who are used to stay in spacious rooms will find it small. I strongly recommend Middle Eight for the cleanliness and comfort

The hotel reception is immaculate and stunning. Welcome team are very professional and we were offered drinks while we checked in. We were early, arriving at 1.30 and hoping to store luggage-we were surprised and pleased that our room was ready so could get settled in before going exploring. The room was faultless-so clean and fresh smelling. There was a feeling of luxury about the fixtures and fittings. Lovely to have robes and slippers too. We were left a little plate of macaroons which we enjoyed later. Beautiful, clean and functional bathroom with a selection of toiletries to use. So peaceful, and a really comfortable bed made for a restful night. WouId 100% recommend this place which is close to Covent Garden and the theatres.

We had a pre theatre meal booked here before we went to the opera just round the corner. The location was great but our experience was awful. 1st all the starters never came all at once, it was well over 5min for two in our party of four before all the starters could be eaten together. Then when our main meals came I had to wait 15min before mine came, after the other three in our party's had arrived. After telling our party to continue and not wait for me. They had finished before I started! To be fair, a manager did come out and told us that he would comp the bottle of wine that we had, for the problems caused, just as I was finishing my meal. As time now was getting close to the start of the opera we asked for the bill and when it came it was wrong. It was only for £12:50ish, which was in fact all it was worth. We told our wives to head for the opera and we would catch them up. When the bill did arrive for the second time it had down that we had had two bottles of sparkling water when they had forgot to bring the second one out to us. So we asked the waiter to again amend the bill and this time to remove the service charge, as we felt it was inappropriate given the service we received, which they did. All in all a very disappointing, uninspiring pre opera meal, which we will never repeat. Given that it was a wedding Anniversary gift from our companions, they were very disappointed with the whole experience on our behalf.

Middle Eight is a stylish and modern hotel in a convenient location. Just a 5-minute walk from Holborn Station and close to Covent Garden, it's perfect for exploring the city. The hotel itself is sophisticated with art-deco influences, creating a comfortable and inviting ambiance. Our room was spacious, spotless, and well-appointed with thoughtful touches. The bed and pillows were super comfy, and the powerful shower was a plus. The bathroom amenities, including quality shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion, were a nice touch. Breakfast was lovely with wonderful service, and the staff attended to our needs with a smile. However, our check-in experience was a bit disappointing. There seemed to be a language barrier, and we felt rushed and ignored. We had asked for permission to film a week prior to our stay, which wasn't handled properly and caused some hassle on arrival, though it was eventually sorted out. We also noticed other guests receiving welcome Prosecco, which we didn't get. It left us feeling a bit underappreciated given the price we paid, making us think it might be because we didn't pay enough. Despite these minor issues, the overall stay was pleasant. If you're looking to treat yourself and don't mind spending a bit more, Middle Eight is a great choice for a luxurious stay in an accessible part of London.

I stayed two nights bed and breakfast at Middle Eight Hotel. The rooms were very clean and it was unbelievably quiet considering it was so near the centre of London which was heaven. The breakfasts were good and all the staff were lovely especially the dark haired lady who served breakfast but whose name I did not have. She was welcoming and friendly. I used the restaurant on the second evening, the food was good but expensive

Great location for Covent Garden/Soho/Theatreland. Warmest of welcomes. Staff were lovely and well trained. Everything was with a smile-so rare these days sadly. Rooms comfy, quiet and nicely styled. Food was really quite good. Wine and cocktails also of a standard you would hope for. A calm oasis in the middle of a very busy part of London. Would recommend highly.

Stayed for business and light social events in London. Terrific location, whether walking, cabbing, or tubing. Hotel itself is top class, with good value and great rooms. Very nice modern general design, while staff is extremely friendly and professional. The couch bank and small table in the Urban Deluxe rooms is very useful, and the room size is slightly larger than average in my estimation. The fitness space in the lower level is also very well appointed, however a bit tight if more than 4 people are using it. Definitely well equipped though, and even has a large kickboxing bag. Strongly recommend this hotel, and looking forward to returning soon.

Room was a little on the smaller side, however very clean and very functional, we stayed in the Classic Chic. The hotel itself overall was very clean and well presented with nice styling. The location for the hotel is perfect and next to a tube station. The service was sub-par for a 5 star hotel. When I checked in for my honeymoon I was immediately asked if I wanted to upgrade my room for an extra charge. We arrived early after a 23 hour flight and I understood the room wasn’t ready yet (not their fault) I was however told by the staff at the front desk they would come find us at the bar when the room was ready. This never happened I had to go back to reception after sometime to be told the room was ready. When speaking with staff interactions felt cold with forced smiles and lack of attentiveness for a 5 star hotel. We spent money at the restaurant for dinner and had a poor experience. The waitstaff was cold to us, made me feel silly for not knowing “still” water was a charge. Water back home is always free, we are from Australia. The waitstaff only offered still or sparking water and I assumed still was free as I was not told the cost or brand of the water at the time. The waitstaff that served us checked on the table next to us multiple times asking how their meal was and also avoided eye contact with us. We were not asked until we made an obvious comment out loud. I was never asked if I wanted to order another drink and felt very unwelcomed. Did I make a comment at the time ? No. I’m on my honeymoon and I want to enjoy myself, I don’t want to deal with providing feedback for poor service during my stay at what should be 5 star service. This review will suffice. Not going back simply due poor customer service. Do better for a 5 star hotel. At checkout I was called the wrong name (not a miss pronunciation but a completely different name). The house keepers did amazing jobs cleaning the room and they gave me the biggest smiles out of everyone. Maybe have them assist with customer service training and that waitstaff person that made us feel so unwanted. I don’t remember their name but I’m sure you can look up this booking and find out who served us for dinner.

Our stay was wonderful! Saq at the front desk was very kind and personable and even gave us a complementary upgrade in rooms due to our extended stay! The hotel itself is beautiful, very neat and modern design, super clean and had everything we needed. Bed is super soft and comfortable and the shower shampoos/soaps smelled like the spa! Quiet, no construction issues, never heard our neighbors. The best part about this hotel was location! So central to London and super close to Holborn tube station making a trip from the airport very tolerable! We could walk everywhere and there are TONS of options for food and markets just down the street! Bar was also nice, excellent drinks and bartender. The gym is small but had everything we needed! Will definitely stay again next time we are in London!

We loved our lunch at Carrots and Daikon yesterday. I had the garlic tofu Banh mi and my husband had the tofu lunch box. The baguette forming my Banh mi was the perfect combination of crunch with a soft centre and the tofu was nicely garlicky. What really made our day were the ice creams! The chrysanthemum and mango ice cream was such a fantastic combination and the matcha and pistachio was delicious too. We then bought one of each of the other flavours and I must admit that the combinations are creative genius! Who would’ve thought that mint choc chip would go with coffee and raspberry and jasmine tea with its floral notes would hit the spot?! I thought that the coconut and lemongrass was super refreshing too. Thank you to the friendly folk at C & D.

I always get sushis here and whenever I go somewhere else I really regret it. Kami always uses the freshest fish, and combines it so well in the sushi rolls! Classics with a tad of charm to it. My fav is spicy tuna. Give it a try! Oh and the service always super attentive and accommodating. Love Kami!
