We have dined many times at the Latymer and have always loved it. It has always, in our option, held it's head high with many other Michelin restaurants we have been lucky enough to dine in. It's local to us and we have taken family & friends on many occasions and have been proud to do so. Quite frankly lunch today was a real disappointment. We had to book 2 tables of 4 to accommodate the 8 of us ( we sort of understood that) to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday apart from a brief mention on arrival, no reference to her birthday was acknowledged. Not the end of the world but a little gesture might have been nice. Apart from one member of staff the service was lack luster, the wine waiter specifically...we had to keep prompting..a bit agrivating. It felt like they didn't want to be there, I've never experienced this before. The food was simply not of the standard we have previously enjoyed. On a positive note & to be fair we did have a couple of guests with small diet requirements and they incorporated these requests willingly which I know on tasting menu can be a pain. To sum up it was an extremely disappointing 90th celebration for my Mum.

We have been lucky enough to experience the Latymer several times and this visit was superb. We enjoyed the 6 course tasting menu which is more than six with ‘snacks’ and ‘chocs’ with coffee. It’s a truly indulgent experience from the moment you are greeted to the service and the delicious food presented in every dish. You are made to feel very special. The chef’s team cater for all allergies and intolerances. Highly recommend for a special treat.

I dined here with my wife for our first Michelin experience in quite a few years. So to treat ourselves whilst the kids were away at the grandparents we visited the Latymer. I would start by saying his place needs more than one star. Every bite, every flavour, every service element was faultless. The night started with what I can only describe as the best Negroni I have ever tasted and got better and better as the night went on. Good food is never going to be better if the service isn’t on point, and everyone from the sommelier to the waiting staff to the management got every service point spot on. Noticing the small details such as my wife’s left hand eating, and placing her cutlery the way she preferred without being asked from the second course on. It’s only a small gesture but shows you the level the team are working at. Thank you so much for an incredible dining experience.

Impeccably presented tasty dishes, with attentive and friendly service. Verbal description of each course could have been a bit more comprehensive and clear. Also, could have done without the unnecessary word "enjoy" before starting every course. Wine prices way over the top for just a 125 ml glass. A lovely special occasion treat, but not quite matching the overall price paid.

Outstanding, creative food. Every dish was a delight, and we loved the experience of starting out in the 'bar' room being served snacks, then to be taken to the restaurant. Excellent by-the-glass winelists. Dropped a star because I thought it was not cool that Chef Sam's 'signature dish' (scallop and truffle) was a £45 per person supplement. We paid for it, it was delicious, but a tedious upsell which took some of the romance off.

It’s difficult to add much more than has already been said recently below, other than wholeheartedly agree! Great food and service. The food really does look that picture perfect and tastes divine. The ‘snacks’ are a delight. For us though, what really sets this place apart from similar restaurants, the service was impeccable: friendly, warm, genuine, down to earth and professional. Sometimes Michelin starred can feel a bit pretentious, but this was welcoming and almost homely. I must also add, as a pescatarian, my wife often gets short changed, but Latymer (more than most other peer restaurants) catered at least equally well for my non meat eating wife; highly commendable. Great work all round, thanks for a truly wonderful and memorable anniversary meal.

This is still my favourite restaurant to eat at in the UK. This was our second time here. I've knocked off one star because of a couple of changes since our first visit but its still great food and service. Portions were perhaps slightly smaller than in the past but that could just be my memory. The wine list had gone up a hell of a lot. Wines seemed to be 300-400% over retail and as such hardly anyone was drinking wine which seemed a shame with food of this caliber. Another thing which may or may not be new but I wanted to warn diners about is a service charge which is over 20% (ours was £100). Taking into account the mark up on the wine this seems a bit much. Anyway another great meal and stay at Pennyhill park.

We came here for my husband’s birthday. This restaurant has a tasting menu. It was an amazing experience. Unusual, delicious, creative, high quality food. The staff were friendly, attentive and were really committed to us having a great time. We also stayed the night: separate review for that. It is very expensive but for a special occasion, entirely justifiable.

Went to Latymer for dinner on Sat night as two couples. Everything from start to finish was excellent. Latymer did not have any of the theatrics experienced at other Michelin starred restaurants but really focused and excelled at taste and aromas from first placing the plate on the table to the last bite. Our front of house was a lovely lady who did a fantastic job of describing each course. The tasting menu is presented as a surprise only receiving a copy of the menu at the end. It’s certainly not cheap but we really enjoyed every course and did not feel there was any lesser course presented. We would certainly return and enjoyed the whole experience which we thought was casual with no stuffiness some times experienced.

Service was excellent albeit a touch slow; we overran our recommended three hours. Ambiance was fine; there was adequate light by which to read the menu which is a joy compared to some other venues. The wine list is good quality, there is nothing there being marked up from Aldi or Tesco. However the measures (notionally 125ml but not measured) seemed undersized to me. The real problem is the kitchen. I don't expect a Michelin one star kitchen to be merely competent. I expect it to be both competent and creative with both ingredients and presentation as found at e.g. Mariottat, Mr Underhill's (RIP) and Le Petit Hôtel du Grand Large. Our meal was a continual procession of small delicate morsels but quails eggs, gold leaf and five different half teaspoons around the venison are no substitute for the creativity that others provide. Incidentally our John Dory should never have left the kitchen; it had the texture of Weetabix. There's a 13.5% service charge which is applied to both food and wine; hence the £175/head sticker price for the meal became fractionally under £200/head. Our total meal for two with water, two glasses of champagne, five (small) glasses of wine plus a little cheese came to just over £640.

From the moment we walked in it was like being home again! First and foremost the staff make it an experience to remember "welcome back Mr Dale", Saroj remembers us every time and welcomes with a smile and really does make it feel amazing. The pictures will do the food more justice than I can with words but a few mentions are needed! The amuse bouch are all amazing but a new addition of Hereford beef tartar was just what the doctor ordered and absolutely delicious. The Gigha Halibut was cooked to perfection and one of the best fish dishes I have had. The star of the show was an upgraded course of A5 wagyu beef, if you have never had this in your life then you are missing out! The beef was cooked perfectly and literally melted in the mouth!! To Steve and his hard working team I say Bravo. We can't wait to be back.

A week after our stay I cut open our Latymer menu card and found a handwritten note, personal and clearly written after we had eaten – I love this place. After our amazing stay last year, we felt the need to check up on Pennyhill Park and Latymer. Four of us celebrated big birthdays with an overnight stay (in recently refurbished rooms) and dinner at Latymer. The Carlingford oysters, Welsh john dory, the cherry and shiso napoleon to mention a few of the 7 formal courses (and untold extra exquisite morsels), matched with a fine flight of wines. We agreed it really was the most delicious food we have ever eaten, served with elegance in a delightful yet unpretentious dining room. Matt, our sommelier, was knowledgeable, really engaging and with a great sense of humour; superbly aware too that we should had time to enjoy the food with the wine. We retired to the games room and the pool table. Sunshine was appropriately provided for the time in the spa – we were told the hotel and spa were both quite busy but you wouldn’t have known it. Thank you again Pennyhill Park.

Wonderful lunch here recently. The service from when we arrived until we left was first class. Lunch was a 4-course chef's surprise with several other amuse bouches in between. As the menu is a surprise, if you are a fussy eater, there might be a probability that you will, be served something you will not like so it is essential to let the restaurant know in advance. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience

We are regular visitors to this amazing restaurant and keep coming back for many reasons! Firstly the staff, two of my favourite people here are Sergio the sommelier, he is so very genuine, passionate and knowledgeable but also a real joy to talk to! The other is Saroj who brings a smile to my face as he remembers us each time and looks after us with impeccable professionalism and that human touch that many Michelin establishments seem to lose. This all adds to another reason we keep returning which is the atmosphere, I love the moody lighting, the gentle music and buzz of conversation. The food though, oh my there are no words for how sublime the food is and I'm genuinely shocked that this chef has not been awarded his second star yet, but am sure it will happen! I have attached pictures but a couple of favourites for me were the Sea Bass and also the oyster starter! If you haven't been then you really must add this to your list and if you have been I am sure you are already planning your next visit!

My husband and I had the most wonderful dinner! From the service to the food, everything was exceptional. I had a few dietary requirements due to being pregnant but as soon as arrived the restaurant manager checked in to make sure everything was perfect, which was so reassuring. She couldn’t have done more to make our experience wonderful. We had both the standard tasting and the vegetarian tasting menus and both were outstanding. My husband opted for the wine pairing; I had the non-alcoholic pairing, which we were really pleased with. The Sommelier gave us detailed information each time for each pairing and was just a total delight to converse with. The team at The Latymer went above and beyond to ensure our evening was exactly what we’d hoped for. Could not recommend more!

This is our 3rd time here for the tasting menu. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Every course was out of this world. Even the bread rolls were warm and the best ever. We also had the wine flight too and it was surprising and enjoyable to have pink champagne served as a palette cleanser with the rhubarb. If you have room in your belly you have to try the cheeses…so strong and tasty. We had a few extra drinks so for the two of us with service charge it was around £700. (Have to pay £100 deposit when booking) Worth every penny and perfect for an anniversary celebration!

Recently revisited Latymer after a previous visit in September 2022 and if anything this second sitting marginally outshone that first experience. That’s often hard to do as a first visit to a restaurant often carries the added element of newness and surprise. All the fantastic elements of the original experience were there - beautiful food, great dining room and wonderful service - with the added elevation that choosing the uplift of the Wagyu beef took the eating experience to an even higher level. The Wagyu they served might well be the best thing I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant anywhere and it’s difficult to give higher praise than that. But you don’t get by on just one astounding course on its own and at Latymer each course is faultless (or very close to it). The scallops were also a particular highlight on both occasions and the Portland crab salad and the calve’s sweetbread are also worth a special mention. Excellent and relaxed service coupled with the feeling that nothing is oversold adds to a great fine dining experience. Latymer is fantastic for a treat or special occasion and probably somewhere that you’ll find yourself returning to in the future.

This is in the Pennyhill Park Hotel but once you go through the restaurant door you feel as if you have entered a small Tudor style cottage. It feels quite separate from the rest of the hotel. Being within the hotel there is plenty of parking. The food is top class. We had the tasting menu and each of the dishes were excellent. This is one of two restaurants in Surrey in my view competing for the top slot. Not sure which I would award it to. This was a Friday lunchtime and there were quite a few tables, not full but a nice atmosphere. It is somehow quiet even though everyone is chatting. We also went for the wine pairing which was very nice. Sometimes I feel there is too much but this was very good. Service also excellent. I have been here quite a few times now with three different chefs and it is always excellent.

This was such an amazing experience. We went here for lunch on Sunday and chose the Discovery Menu, which consisted of 6 tasting plates. It did not disappoint. The food was spectacular, every dish absolutely bursting with flavour. On top of this the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. At the end of the meal they give you a copy of the menu for you to take away which I thought was such a nice touch. Would recommend this time and time again.

Having been in Self Isolation since March , it was a pleasure to be welcomed back to the Latymer at Pennyhill Park Hotel by Restaurant Manager, Charlotte Besson & Staff. A friend joined me for a pre Birthday Lunch. Sommelier, Aurel Istrate greeted us with a glass of Taittinger Champagne at my preferred table. We decided to opt for the A la Carte Menu which had a choice of dishes. We started with Cornish Crab Tart, Custard , Nectarine & Lemon Verbena, all melted in the mouth. This was followed by Orkney Scallop, Celeriac & Truffle, Apple & Smoked Eel, the different tastes complemented each other. We decided to accompany our food with another glass of champagne. Next came Turbot, Chicken of the Woods, onion & Sea Vegetables. The Turbot was cooked to perfection. A tip is to eat each dish slowly to savour the various tastes. A little break was needed now, then we chose to share a Plate of Hampshire & Berkshire Cheeses: Spenwood, Wigmore, Tunworth, Waterloo & Maid of Vale. These were served with different flavoured crackers, fruit cake & pear chutney. Our Dessert Wine choice was 2015 Chateau de Cedre, Le Cedre Malbec which paired well with the different tasting cheeses. When we had finished Chef, Steve Smith came out to introduce himself and we spent a while talking about our various food interests. We look forward to dining many more times at The Latymer in the future. This was a splendid meal and it was certainly worth waiting 5 months for 6 star food and service. A perfect start to my Birthday celebrations. A huge Thank You to Steve, Charlotte and Team for making it such an enjoyable occasion. If you want to celebrate a special occasion or just enjoy a leisurely meal with top class food , I would always recommend you visit The Latymer. I look forward to dining there many more times in the future.

This is the fifth time we have dined at this restaurant and I have to say this is the most disappointing meal we have had here. The restaurant itself is lovely and the staff and service is exceptional. The food is pleasant enough but very uninspiring. Having dined here when Michael Wignall and Matt Worswick were in residence, by comparison the dining experience was very flat. Gone are the amuse bouche and between course surprises which really lifted the dining experience. The a la carte portions were very small and more like a taster size. Sadly Latymers is no longer on our list of favourite restaurants .

We had the larger of the tasting menus on a Friday night, and every course was delicious. However, there was very little atmosphere in the restaurant with no background music or anything, so that was the only downfall. Overall a lovely treat and pleasant experience.

The restaurant is still there and still providing an excellent experience however Matt Worswick left at the beginning of 2020 and the chef is now Steve Smith, previously at Bohemia in Jersey and having eaten there before it has moved into very safe hands which I am pleased to say.The new chef was in place when we visited and the food was as delightful and tasty as ever, just as it was when Matt Worswick took over from Michael Wignall four years previously. There will probably be a new listing to post and read reviews. The place has such a lovely ambience, almost feeling Elizabethan with its beams and decor. The food is great, offering the night we went only a selection of two different length tasting menus, which is what we always like to have in a very good restaurant. The service is very friendly here, always has been, and continues to be so. There were a couple of flaws that are perhaps down to a new team and teething issues. It took a long while for us to be asked whether we wanted an aperitif, in fact I had to say I wanted a glass of sparkling wine. There was also the same issue at the end with the offering of tea/coffee, which did happen but it was a lot longer than it should have been. This did not detract from the evening though, we still enjoyed it al lot.We will be back!

I was here with my other half to celebrate my birthday. We went for the 5 course tasting menu with the exclusive wine pairings. It started off a bit strange as we were the first ones in the restaurant and it was dead quiet! It went uphill quickly though with course after course of amazing food and really top end service. What really made the experience memorable was our amazing sommelier who clearly loves his job and made the wine pairings with the stories behind the wines the highlight of our experience! Definitely hope to come again.

The food is fine, not brilliant, but perfectly fine. There are too many people taking photos of food, which is so naff. The food and wine are extremely expensive.

Came for lunch on the Saturday before Christmas and very much enjoyed the experience. We were among the first guests to arrive so the atmosphere was a little quiet, but it didn't liven up all that much further - maybe because it was right before Christmas, but even so the atmosphere was pleasant. The food included in the 5 course lunch menu was superb, even if the portions were on the small side. Stand outs included the black garlic mousse and bread (a second portion of the garlic was provided with a smile), the risotto, duck and chocolate dessert. I thought it was good value considering we were eating at a Michelin star restuarant. All dishes were fully explained and tasting notes left on a little card on the table which was a nice touch.Service was excellent - staff were friendly and not too formal, even if the surrounds were a little so. We will definitely be back for lunch again given the excellent value.

Meeting with friends who we hadn’t seen for a while. Nice friendly service not at all overpowering. Got chatty with the wine waiters - both Spanish speakers which helped as we were too. Helped set the tone. Nice comfy room, although the table seemed a little low from the bench seat I was on. Dishes all very well presented. All tasty with a mixture of flavours. Risotto dish worked particularly well as did another with mushroom. Desserts also very good. Large and eclectic wine list. We stuck with Pinot, Fiat from Chile and then it’s French homeland. Both good, although the French was significantly more expensive than that from Chile. Also a couple of sneaky glasses of other wines to try Overall very good and worth returning to. Fine dining with a friendly and informal atmosphere.

I went through a few ups and downs consuming this menu between. Flitting between satiation, incredulation and wondulation (new word alert) ie would I need to go to Greggs to top it all off with a sausage roll as I would still be hungry? Some memorable courses, notably the oyster starter, dorset crab and the venison, with two puddings. However fundamentally I think unless you are a huge foodie/not a savage like myself, the portion sizes are miniscule. One dessert could be mistaken for a single Quality Street without your glasses on, the oyster starter is poured into a shot glass sized hollow camouflaged inside what could have been a John Lewis table lamp and the venison is a one slice of (admittedly superbly cooked) meat. Better value is perhaps to be had in a kitchen that can serve whole courses as well as taster menus. The Discovery wine pairing was first class compared to some taster menus, some great new introductions such as Lebanese Red, Canadian Ice Wine and a cracking Riesling.Overall food is technically great, service esp Sommelier perfectly pitched, the location is fantastic, the missus loved the mother of pearl/tortoiseshell handled cutlery and I ended up with a full belly. Minus points for no Monster Munch from the chef's latest gadget and getting the same personal birthday card as the bloke on the next table ;-).

From arrival, check in, all courses at Latymers was outstanding. Seven courses of brilliance served in opulence and execution of each dish was first class. The FoH team were friendly & attentive without being overly keen to please. I couldn’t fault the restaurant nor hotel. Breakfast was a surprise as it was so busy & more a place to network than dine I felt. This did not detract from the great breakfast offer nor service provided. I will look forward to visiting the other exclusive hotels within this chain!Matt Worswick deserves another Michelin

Very romantic pretty place with wonderful park, entrance and reception to walk down. Pretty restaurant room with nice atmosphere. Little négatif point is the table a bit to simple on the arrival and really empty For the lunch we selected the 59£/head 5 courses menu with parring discovery wine 50£/head To start the butter came on table with the black garlic cream and bread Really tasty butter, different than the Bordier one everywhere and lovely black garlic cream Bread was only one type and not hot :(The first course was the tastier one : oyster emulsion and Granny Smith granite The course was only a tea spoon Second course the sweet bread was so small and over cook Then the risotto was again 2 spoon and serve with different cutlery (knife for my partner and spoon for me to cut the oyster mushroom) I had a duck (1/5 of a filet of duck) but was nicely cook and rest , half of a 30g fois gras was so so over cook than I couldn’t eat it . My girlfriend had a Dover sole was so over cook than it was impossible to cut... we end up this experience so hungry so we had to look for a pub around to eat after . Portions are really not think well The wine experience was so up and down . For a discovery testing I was expecting something different than one of the more common st emilion. English rose was tasteless

This dining experience confirmed our positive verdict from our last meal here and then some. The tone was set from the start by the welcome and the professionalism of the obliging staff under the guidance of Gergö Fehér and we knew we were in for a treat from the reasoned explanation of the wine choices and the super snacks which formed the prelude to the tasting menu. Sourdough seems to be the bread of choice currently and this lovely home-baked example was enhanced by terrific black garlic butter. Colchester oyster with pickled apple and Oscietra caviar made for one of the best introductions (my wife had excellent trout instead of oyster) which was followed by a fabulous dish of salt-baked celeriac with truffle ice cream, lovage, lovage oil remoulade and mixed herbs - a no-meat masterpiece succeeded by a mushroom risotto with puffed malt vinegar rice, parmesan and reindeer moss making for a treat of textures and tastes. As if to show that our superlatives had to keep coming, the best Orkney scallop with spiced Devon crab, crispy seaweed and sauce américaine provided the perfect lead-up to an absolutely outstanding venison main with a cep cream that was almost as meaty as the venison, of which there was beautifully sweet heart, pickled pear purée matching the meat to a T, and slightly dry hen of the woods that was just amazing with the tender venison loin as was some clever caramelised walnut. The lovely pre-dessert was passion fruit cream with tangy mango gel and coconut ice cream and our feast came to a fitting high-class finale with rich chocolate délice contrasting with yoghurt sorbet and milk crumble biscuits. An absolute triumph and never a false note.

There is no doubt that prices here are extravagant even for one star. We left having paid £340 for two people without really going to town on the wine.

I was pleased to be invited to a 7 course tasting menu at the Latymer as part of a post wedding celebration with very close family. The hotel is at the end of a long driveway just off the A30 towards the west of Surrey and The Latymer restaurant itself is located towards the rear of the hotel.

Food was good, wine pairing very good albeit a tad pretentious Not sure I ONLY want a tasting menu when fine dining Cost was x-rated, I've never heard of a massive extra charge for 'Duck' foie gras before ! Sadly, because of the menu and cost, this restaurant has now limited itself to a minority clientele which in my opinion is unwarranted.

This is in the Pennyhill Park Hotel. There is plenty of parking in the large hotel car park. The Latymer is at the back of the original part of the building and is a sort of Tudor style room with wood beams. It is very cosy and impressive.

Very very disappointed in how long it took for a driver to collect our food. After waiting for over 1h3mins food arrives cold and dry. I’m sure food would have been fine if delivered within a reasonable time frame. Very disappointed our entire dinner was ruined.

We had difficulty deciding what to have because it all looked good. Both husband and I settled for pasta, a favourite treat. Both dishes seem to be unique to Villa Bianca and they were delicious.
