Four very happy takeaway diners for my 54th. birthday. Collected from Altrincham with warm welcome from owner. We all loved our meals, taste, portions, personal tweaks to meals spot on. Can't wait til we can eat out, we'll done team no complaints. 👍🏻

Mhariams was shown number 1 on Yell.com so we thought why not! From start, the welcoming by the staff was great and professional. The food was Incredible! I ordered the Chingri lamb kambala which I will highly recommend and is now my favourite for sure and lastly, the icing on the cake, Billy, the owner of the restaurant created a fantastic atmosphere making it a very enjoyable moment for me and my family! See you all next time :)

Visited with my partner on what seemed like a quiet Saturday night. We waited 40 minutes for our poppadoms, which we had to eventually remind the staff about. When they finally came out, disappointingly they were soft as if they'd been left out for a while. The rest of the food was delicious but again took a while to come. The staff kept forgetting to bring our drinks over and even tried to keep our £10 change when we paid - until we reminded them about it. Overall, great food but the service definitely needs a huge amount of improvement.

Ordered online and made a mistake with my order which they were more than happy to correct - went above and beyond! Food is out of this world by far the best I've ever had. Worth every penny and value for money considering high quality. Thank you

Serious mixed emotions about this place. In all honesty I won’t be in a rush to go back when there are establishments like Essence etc so close. The actual restaurant is a pleasant place to be. Service was very slow, almost 10 minutes from getting our table to being asked if we want a drink. BYOB by the way! But effortlessly close to a well stocked shop. Starters were absolutely spot on.Naan bread was super fresh, light, tasty. Again spot on. Then came the madras... Severely disappointing. The meat I can not complain, but the sauce... not good at all. It tasted like passata that had been reduced and reduced and reduced in a pan with a metal spoon in it. No spice, no flavours, no heat. Just a really thick, metallic twang over tomatoes. A crying shame as to me a madras is a real basic old classic any Indian restaurant should knock out without trying. If you want my honest opinion, have a few drinks around goose green and altrincham and get an Uber over to Essence. Below par

Eaten here twice, very impressed with the quality of the food and the size of the portions. No need to order extras or sides, if you do you will end up taking half the meal home with you! A dry restaurant, so bring your own beer or wine which is totally acceptable. Highly recommended.

Very disappointed with our experience as we had heard good things about this restaurant. When one of our party tried to get help with understanding what dishes were suitable to his dietary needs (due to allergies) the owner was dismissive and unhelpful claiming there are too many dishes to be able to explain. When pushed further by a female member of the party and challenged about his attitude he looked to the men and rolled his eyes. Disgraceful display of misogyny and rudeness to customers. We left after our starters as we were disgusted. The food we did try was mediocre at best.

This place is incredible. The food is absolutely delicious, I can’t even put it into words. Staff were really really attentive and friendly and always there when we needed anything. Big emphasis on the quality of the food...I can’t recommend enough.

Like most people I do like a good Indian, and what I love about Mhariam is it's bring your own booze. Let's be honest that's the expensive bit of most meals. My dad is very picky and the staff where excellent at dealing with his awkward requests. The food is first rate it really is and my go to Indian in Altrincham whenever I venture out.

Take away option used , food excellent just a bit awkward to access as steep stairs . Only reason to not give a 5 star as my elderly relatives can’t visit . Lovely friendly staff

Great indian, good shared starter and the curry is excellent, the vindalllo is hot and tasty try the rice with peas and potatoes, great the service and atmosphere is excellent

Booked in for 6.30, table of four. Arrived on Saturday at 6.30 and place looks great. It’s BYO and they were quick to get extra glasses. Placed order for starters and mains and things went south quick. Poppadoms took 10 mins and after 30 mins still no starters. We highlighted to management who said they had a lot of take aways to get out. We gave it 5 more mins and then left. Went to Rassasi on the downs. Much better!

Came in with no reservation, but they found room straight away, even on a busy night. First time so hadn’t realised the restaurant in not licenesed so popped round the corner for a bottle of wine. Food was lovely, staff really pleasant and lovely atmosphere-apart from the group of four women who just wanted a free meal and found anything and everything to complain about! Had an absolutely lovely evening, thank you.

Party of 4, full monty of popadoms, dips, starters and mains with rice and Nancy bread. Really good quality, decent service and nice surroundings. It's take your own booze, so total bill is reasonable at £100. No rip off drinks bills. Only 2 quibbles - rice portions a little small and my mate whinged that there could have been a bit more room between tables. Book in advance for busy periods.

Delicious food. Brilliant service (even put extra rice to go with the left over curry in our doggy bag!) and nice surroundings! We will be back!

We've been a couple of times and love this restaurant. So much so we fit in our visits when we are down from Scotland! It's also bring your own drink so is slightly easier on the purse! The staff are very attentative and friendly. We take our children who love their tikka massalas. Great location especially if you are staying in the Travelodge opposite. Good value for money too. Good portion sizes. Nice atmosphere inside.

I managed to seek out this gem via Trip Advisor and was not disappointed. The food is well presented, contemporary and fairly priced.

Poor service. 4 out of 5 meals arrived then we waited for 20 mins for the blast meal. Avoid.....and there was no apology or explanation of why

Came here with work for curry night. Went for the chicken tikka madras and onion bhaji for starter and both were delicious. We were all seated quickly and given our menus. A nicely decorated restaurant and the service was good. Reasonably priced and a good location. Bring your own booze as well

Love this restaurant. The food is just delicious and there’s so much to choose from. The best Indian restaurant I’ve been too. Staff are friendly and serve you quickly as well. The restaurant sells soft drinks but they don’t sell alcohol. However, they are more than happy for you to take your own alcohol inside if you would like a drink, bonus! Interior is lovely and it’s also in the heart of Goose Green too, great location.

It's 18.18 and I've just got home to a takeaway from here. The meat is appalling. The chicken is full of red veins and nasty bits and the lamb is fatty. The popadoms are tired, you know the stale taste when theyve either been reheated or been there a while. The suaces arent great either, think bright green mango and other average sauces. Can't be bothered complaining as if I got a free meal I wouldn't eat here.

Visited with a group of friends. The food was quite nice, although not as flavoursome/ spicy as it should be. The staff however were quite miserable. No smiles. No how is your food. Literally nowhere to be seen once food was served. Had to wait a while to then order some water. If the service improved I would rate this restaurant higher.

Went on a quiet week day evening. Food was average. Staff very miserable and appeared not interested. Women's toilets were very scruffy indeed. There was a sign on the wall apologising and stating it would be rectified soon. According to a Google review this sign has been there for 2 months. Even worse there was NO water coming from the taps in the gents toilets.

After having a lazy day my wife and I ended up in the Mhariam Indian restaurant in Goose Green, Altrincham.

Staff really unhelpful (“Please can I have a menu?” “Over there” points) and miserable. Food was only ok but the service was abysmal. Much better Indian options in Altrincham.

We dined here for the first time, it had been recommended to us several times. Nice decor, warm welcome, attentive service. The food was excellent, I would say a little over priced starters but the main courses really made up for it,I had the king prawn baltic and the salmon starter, really excellent, the tandoori king prawns were also outstanding, the added advantage of being able to bring your own drinks is obviously a massive bonus. Well done guys, we will definitely be returning.

Dinner out with a friend. Met by miserable waiter on arrival. Curry nice but no nicer than other places we've been. Very poor service from both the waiters, both miserable and not one smile all night.

Been meaning to write this review for a while. Had tickets for the Cinema for various reasons arrived late into Altrincham and tried a few places who couldn’t accommodate us before walking into here.

Highly recommended. I booked a large family gathering and got the numbers wrong. The staff were only too happy to accomodate. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly waiters.

Booked a family meal at Mhariam, its actually the 3rd time I've been since it opened and my dad who is a bit picky really likes it.

After a mix up with Uber we were totally lost as not from the area . We rang the restaurant to ask where they were and it was a fifteen minute walk away ! It was raining and we couldn’t be bothered to walk back so told the guy on the phone we wouldn’t be coming but he said to wait where we were and he would pick us up he was there in no time and the meal was great ( lamb chops lovely ) . That’s what I call great service . Will definitely return if in the area again .

I was not happy with the dish I had recommended last night,( purely on taste) It was a little sweet for my liking, but the waiter picked up on it immediately and bought me a great recommendation that I will be back there to eat( Karai curry) . The mixed grill was lovely chicken and paneer was delightful but the chops were very tough.

Superb i will be visiting again for sure. The food was amazing and the service fantastic, the atmosphere and surroundings are perfect, i would highly reccommend this restaraunt.

Three of us went for a curry last night here. The service was just ok with us having to ask 6 times for some water to drink! and the food for me was fine but for my friend wasn’t great with there being a long hair in her chicken dish. The staffs reaction to this wasn’t great either and so all in all I don’t think I’ll be rushing back there tbh. I did think it was quite exspensive for the main dishes. Altrincham has many restaurants and I don’t think this is one of the better ones .

After the football there is only one meal that will do. A curry and with a quick search this came up on our search. No4 but it was the closest to us. A quick call to make sure they could accommodate us and we were in. The staff were brilliant and the food was excellent. Coupled with bring your own booze this wasn't an expensive meal. Defiantly be back on match day⚽️

Visited Mhariam last night. This was the first time we’d eaten there since they moved to bigger premises in Altrincham. I really wanted to love it as we were big fans of the restaurant when it was in the tiny premises in Timperley. It’s nicely decorated if a little dark. Overall the food was really tasty and of excellent quality with generous portions. The poppadoms were a bit disappointing as they had that after taste that suggests the oil needs changing. What rather let it down was the service. The dishes that the onions and chutneys came in were all badly chipped. There were no glasses or napkins on the table - we had to ask. They’ve lost that friendliness that they had with the smaller restaurant. Also they need to give the toilets a bit of a facelift. The decor was grubby and the lock on the ladies is a bit dodgy. A toilet seat that fits would also help. In summary then; this could be a really great restaurant if they pay attention to these details. All easily rectified.

They fitted our party of 6 in last minute, they had a table free for 1.5hrs and made sure we got our food in good time. We were going on aftereatds, so it suited us, but they were honest about the time scale from arrival. Can’t ask for more.

We booked for 15 Of us on a busy Saturday in December, such a brilliant evening! The service was nothing but the best! Nothing was too much trouble for a large group, mixed starters, tasty curries we all had an amazing evening thank you so much, look forward to another visit .

Visited on a Friday evening and was pleased overall. Having read previous reviews I was pleased with the attitude of the staff and the food was plentiful and tásty. Taking your own drink did wonders for the bill ! I was very unimpressed by the toilet. It had no sign on the door and was badly assembled and dirty, I don't see how you can expect good reviews if such a basic thing is so bad

Visited mhariam in September for birthday celebrations. Food was excellent and it's great that you can take your own wine/beer etc. Service was a little slow but we were a fairly large group. Have booked again for december

So having a visited a couple of times in the past and really enjoying it, we went for a family meal last night - and found the staff to be quite unpleasant and unenthusiastic (similiar to a review someone else said the same thing). The table was booked for 7pm and it was for my sisters birthday, there were 10 of us. The starters and poppadoms/pickle tray came out - most dishes had chips in them, which a few people picked up on. The mixed starter for 2 people, was okay - one of the lamb chops had no meat on which was annoying (no exaggeration either).

Met the owner on leaving who went onto details re the menu and things I had missed off on ordering....Very nice touch

Had booked a table, which was just as well, as the restaurant was very busy coming in. Seated within 5 minutes, but it then took an hour and a quarter to get our main meals. I enjoyed mine very much, but my friend found his too salty. No draught beer, but you can bring in cans or bottles. Could have been a lot better if they were properly geared up to cope with the crowd they are atttacting.

I booked a table last minute for 8.30pm on a Friday night for my husband and two daughters aged 14 and 11. We had an unenthusiastic welcome on arrival (looking at our daughters), waited approx 15 mins for our table and once seated (in what felt like the back room) the service from the waiters left a lot to be desired! The food was satisfactory luckily and it was BYO thank goodness! Despite the wine bottle being on the table I had to ask for a wine glass, no napkins?! And no extra plates:cutlery between starters and main courses. This restaurant could be better if the waiters were more friendlier/professional and maybe some background music could be played as it was noisy! As already mentioned the food was satisfactory but the service and extras such as napkins (basic) cutlery, glasses and a smile were missing!

Visited again on Tuesday for an impromptu celebration dinner. Consistently great food and my young family and I are always looked after beautifully. Altrincham is blessed with some great dining options but this is the best curry house for me. Thank you.

I visited this restaurant with British family and relatives from Canada. The food is top quality, fresh and delicious. The owner is very hospitable and really went out of his way to make us all feel welcome. We ordered a number of dishes - salmon, prawn, lamb and chicken and shared these between us. Everything was prepared exactly as we asked, with just the right amount of spices. The pilau rice was delicious and cooked just right. One of the best dining experiences that I’ve had in the UK!

Best curry I have had in a long time. The food was amazing as was the price. The staff are very polite and very professional can't fault it here. Will defo be back.

I would have rayed this restaurant igher because the food was lovely however the service let it down. Our waiter for the night was impatient and miserable. I had chosen this restaurant to get together with some old friends and the waiter rolled his eyes and houghed when we told him we wasn't ready to order. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for the food but I've been put off revisiting due to the rudeness of this waiter. Shame really.

Went tonight, Tuesday. Surprised at how many people were in. Lovely mix of ages. Food was lovely,even had a ‘calorie haters’ menu!! Service was very good and friendly without being over the top.you can bring your own wine, beer etc. No corkage charge, just enjoy. Really impressed!

This was our first visit to the Mhariam at Goose Green having visited many times when it was in Timperley and we were not disappointed.

We have been eating at the Mhariam for the ten years it was in Timperley and now since the new restaurant has opened in Altrincham. The food has always been outstanding, Billy and his team have always been really great in looking after us whether we visit as a family with the children, a larger group or as a couple. We have moved to Chorley in Lancashire but still travel back for a decent curry! We have had many a good curry on Xmas day at the Mhariam and long may that tradition continue. Love the fact we can take our own beer in and the food is always cooked fresh on the day. Even takeaways are as brilliant as the sit down meals. A big thank to Billy for bringing a good curry back to Altrincham!!!

I visited Mhariam on Friday with lots of my family and was VERY impressed. The service was amazing, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was brilliant.

We visited the restaurant out of curiosity being in a prominent part of Altrincham. Upon arrival we were offered popadoms and chutney tray. When it arrived it looked as if it had been used by a previous visitor and just topped up as the small bowls had smears around the sides and also served in chipped bowls. The teaspoons were sticky to the touch. I should have complained but decided not to eat the relish. The service was poor leaving our starter plates on the table for some time before the main courses arrived. Our mains arrived and mine looked like a sloppy vegetarian mess. My partners chicken tikka masala looked like an over processed red runny sauce. The staff, apart from one chap, were not very friendly and we couldn’t wait to get out of there! There are better restaurants in the area and it annoys me that hard earned cash is wasted on a Saturday night with such a poor quality meal!

Not sure if people have been eating off a different menu but wasn't impressed.

We used to love these guys when in Timperley. Found them now in Altrincham and they have upped their game!!! If you hadn't had a Puri state before you are in for a treat and this is the best I have had for a long time. Bring your own bottle and dinner for two here two courses including a curried scallop main. £43 amazing value. And amazing quality. If they carry on with these standards you won't be able to get in. I booked a table earlier in the week for Saturday night. On the afternoon of the booking I got a call saying they didn’t have a record of how many the table was for there might be a problem. Talk about leaving until the last minute to check the bookings! I asked if it would be ok to which I was told “yes love, 9 or 10 past, something like that.” This didn’t exactly create the best first impression. We arrived at 9 and stood waiting. We told to “just take that table there” and the man I assume was the manager pointed towards a table. We were approached by a very rude and sullen young man who threw cutlery on the table. We were given menus but it was over 30 minutes before anyone bothered to take our order. We had to ask multiple times for everything, glasses, water, the bill etc. All requests greeted with a grunt from the sullen teenager. The other waiter who took our order on the other hand was much more pleasant. 2 courses took 2 hours. The food was ok thankfully but one member of the party had to hunt for the chicken in her main and the we all nearly needed dental work after trying to eat the lamb chops! Would I rush back- no. Dreadful service from rude staff, mucky glasses and cutlery and really dirty toilets. I don’t think we are alone in this option as tables behind us were complaining. Oh and btw not everyone appreciates being repeatedly called “love”!

Was with a group of 20 odd people, family and friends including children on Sunday evening. Billy and his team were most attentive and helpful. Poppadoms and accompaniments were served very promptly, delicious. Can’t fault any of the food chosen, everyone was very happy with...

First visit to Mhariam and we were well and truly impressed. It was a Sunday evening so not exactly busy but the guys were attentive and the food was very good. Happily visit again.

Lovely food, great service, the lighting is odd and the layout needs work but as long as the food remains good.

We were two couples visiting Tuesday 20th March and enjoyed our experience very much. A friendly welcome which continued through the evening. We enjoyed the different slant on the menu and food. This restaurant is definitely on our list to revisit.

10 Family members visited here last night Saturday 17th March, the service was out standing and the food was excellent and great value for money. Couldn't fault anything the staff are so friendly and decor lovely very authentic.

Great tasty Indian meal! Used to be a regular when Billy had his restaurant in Timperley but we moved to Wales 2 years ago and it was a pleasure to see Billy doing so well and the food was still first class. Wish we had a restaurant as good back in Wales.

Mhariam never fails to disappoint and, personally, we prefer the new venue even though it isn't as convenient for us Nice atmosphere, good service and great food. If you have not been before, this isn't a licensed restaurant so bring your own alcohol!

As somebody who has worked as a waiter for many years, I never complain about service; indeed, I stop people complaining.

We had a group of nine work colleagues visiting on a Thursday evening. The waiters were very friendly, the food was excellent. I had a Prawn Rasthani which was exceptional, my colleagues all seemed very happy with their curries, breads and rice. The bring your own policy obviously helps the bill, but there was a friendly atmosphere throughout the restaurant and I would recommend it.

What was meant to be a birthday meal for my wife turned into chaos with he manager/owner himself.

I was expecting great cuisine after all the great reviews but sadly not so. My dish of chicken tikka in buna sauce was very strange.I thought at first I had been served lamb as the meat was dark brown but white inside...so OK...however the chicken tikka was almost inedible, great chunks, hard and stringy, and not at all succulent like the Hilal in Timperley. The chicken biryani was similar. In addition the other meals served were far too sweet. The restaurent itself is a mish-mash of rooms not particularly pleasing so sorry won’t be going again nor recommending it any time soon.

Unfortunately reviews of restaurants can be very subjective, what one person likes another may not. Reading the reviews prior to visiting the Mhariam it was clear there were opposing views, so clearly raved over it, others maybe not so.

Went here last night as I treated my to a nice meal. We used to go when they had a place in Timperly and, the standard of food is amazing. The owner Billal (AKA Billy) is so nice and friendly, as are all his staff and can't do enough for you. It is by far the best Indian food we've ever had with amazing flavours and dishes you may not have tried before. Always a fave of ours... Love it!

We visited the second night it had opened and were lucky that Billy squeezed us in. We've been back 3 times since which is not enough! Our daughter had her 21at meal there. All our family and friends raved about the meal even our fussy vegetarian friend.. The food is divine and so moreish..I've had a different meal each time and they've all been delicious..

So 15 years ago a group of work friends started a tradition of going for a curry once a month or so, over time for various reasons only three of us remain. We used to go to Ishta, originally near the Old Market Tavern and then, after they moved, The Downs, but Ishta closed down so we went to Double Tree (the only realistic option in Altrincham). The food was good, fresh ingredients and decent portions, but the staff were so robotic. We went back every 4 to 6 weeks over a period of more than 2 years and not once did any member of staff acknowledge that we had visited before. No “usual table gents”

I'm so pleased altrincham has Mhariam back, the food is always lovely and so is the service. I've been numerous times since the relocation and like always Billy and the team have been more than accommodating, they are always happy to recommend a dish and cater for those who don't normally enjoy Indian food. If you haven't been before you should definitely give it a try! See you soon Billy.

I have to say that billy does put some insane spices in his Currys to make it this good.We were upset after the closer of mhariam timperly but when we found out this legend opened in altrincham we couldn't wait to try it.

I visited with a group of friends. On our arrival it took a while to get someone's attention to find our table. And apart from the food order and the meal being delivered we were hardly spoken to. We gave up on the idea of dessert or coffee but still found it hard to catch anyone's attention to pay. But the food was very nice and the staff when we did have contact with them were very nice. They are all young though. And I don't think that it has been open that long. I do hope that the manager will give them some training about service.

Have been here before when based in Timperley. So was aware it was cash only and byo drinks, so was prepared.

I telephoned 2 days in advance to book a table for two at 6pm. When we arrived the waiter said they had no booking for us - he said if it isn’t in the diary you didn’t make the booking. How rude. He showed us the booking diary that looked like a complete disaster zone no wonder he couldn’t see our name as all the names were just scribbles. Anyway to cut a long story short the Double Tree across the road were much more professional and found us a table even although we hadnt booked with them. Mhariam we won’t be back and with that rude attitude I shouldn’t think it’ll be long before you are also gone.

Tried Mhariam since its relocation from Timperley to Altrincham. Clearly enough people know its new location in Goose Green, as it was packed, but you'd be hard pushed to know where the entrance was if you were just casually passing through this pedestrianised part of Altrincham. The food was identical in quality and taste to Mhariam's previous incarnation but the price does seem to have taken a bit of a hike in the move; around £20/head for a starter and a main. Yet another example that BYOB is a very big draw to diners who want to have tasty food and provide what they want to drink at supermarket prices; a paradigm others could do well to consider. You need to book.

Bit chaotic - couldn’t find reservation etc - food is of average quality- Service is poor and the owner doesn’t seem to understand how to look after his customers. I’d be very surprised if this restaurant survives.
