Meze Lounge and restaurant in West Oxfordshire

Had a shawarma. What happened to the salad? Just lamb and onion. Where was the lettuce, cucumber and tomato. Totally tasteless and a complete waste of money. Never again!

We think this restaurant is brilliant. We are veggie and there are three mains that we enjoy every time we come. It's homely, cosy and very friendly.

Another fabulous meal at Meze Lounge. We have been coming here regularly and look forward to our Meze fix. The food is consistently good and of high quality for the price. Adana Kofte is my favourite and usual go to choice. Despite food and energy price increases the prices have remained the same, including the drinks menu. Just make sure you book online as they are now only open on Friday & Saturday evenings and can get very busy. Thanks Meze Lounge and see you soon😁

We visited last night and were disappointed. Having previously been and had a reasonable experience we went again with friends. It seems the owners have gone the route of reducing portion size drastically and limiting quality somewhat. I understand there is pressure on restaurants to maintain a living for it's staff and owners. However, I would prefer to pay more for a good meal that I enjoy rather than come away £25 over her worse off with a sense of disappointment and needing to eat something else on getting home due to the small portion sizes of the starters and main courses. We won't visit again

We went for dinner at the Meze lounge on Friday. The food was a good as ever and having just been to Turkey, we had a Turkish experience to compare it with. Sadly due to to the economic climate, the Meze lounge is only open on Friday and Saturday nights. If you feel like having a lovely Turkish meal, just make sure you book for one of those evenings.

A nice restaurant on the square in Witney. Both starter and main were tasty, portion size could be a little bigger, mainly because the dishes were so nice. We will be back.

Went with my mum during a stay in this part of the cotswolds. We both love Greek food and thought we would give it a try for something a little different. The website mentions a 3 course set menu but don't when this is available as no sign when we went, a Thursday night. Food was served quickly and was very tasty. Not the traditional versions of the dishes we had but tasty none the less. Cover charge added to the bill as standard, but not mentioned anywhere which was a slight surprise, but still an enjoyable meal.

Very friendly service. Excellent food and good value, especially the 3 course menu. Highly recommend.

Lovely meal at the Meze Lounge yesterday - variety of lovely food and very good value - thoroughly recommended. The service was first rate.

First visit to Meze and will definitely be back! The food was great, the prices really reasonable and although the restaurant was full and the poor waiter was on his own, as his colleague had phoned in sick, he was polite and did his best to keep everyone happy, with as little delay as possible on the courses.

Not fine food, but tasty and plenty there is of choice. It's not expensive and I think it's good value.

We love eating at Meze Lounge. The food and service is always consistently excellent. The atmosphere is very relaxed and alcohol is reasonably priced. Always look forward to a shot of Raki to finish off our evening. We had Adana Kofte and a mixed Shish kebab, both served with rice and salad ….fabulous!

We decided to have Valentine's at The Meze Lounge in Witney and what a great decision. Not pretentious, but good, tasty and freshly made food. Amazing choice and we really had a brilliant time. Didn't rush us st all. Good choice of food, great service and will always go back. Thank you for such a lovely evening.

Missing our meals at Meze Lounge so ordered their takeaway last night. Ordered the Calamari, Moussaka and Tavuk Shish. Came with the usual rice and side salad. We collected from the restaurant but can also be delivered. All the food was superb, and plentiful, and well packed in takeaway boxes. Will be ordering again but hoping they will be opening the restaurant soon.

The food was delicious very well cooked and served by very helpful waitress the restaurant was busy but we got our meal quite quickly.

We have used this excellent restaurant many times and have always had excellent food and good value for money. The special deal menu for Monday to Thursday is very good at a good price. There is a very good menu choice. Thank you.

We have been to Meze on numerous occasions and always enjoyed the food . We had a New Year’s Eve meal and were disappointed to see that the menu has changed . The much loved hot and cold sharing platter has been replaced by single quite expensive starters. Though the meal was good the usual buzz was not there ! .

Lovely food, tasty and well cooked. There is a good choice, with a few options for veggies and vegans. Service is quick, friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable, and there is a good selection of choices on the cheaper lunch time menu. If you are lucky, you might get a parking space (free for 2 hours) in front of the restaurant; otherwise it’s just a few minutes walk to the Woolgate Centre (free for 3 hours).

Nice small restaurant in high street. Good & friendly service . Nice food, well presented and reasonable value. IT'll remind you of your holidays ! Don't sit at window tables. Pub next door means drinkers & smokers right next to you.

10 of us had a lovely meal here tonight. I had calamari, feta and spinach parcels, and pacletan starters as a main and they were all delicious. Everyone else had a variety of dishes and they all really enjoyed them. I shared a couple of bottles of Sauvignon Blanc with a few of the party - this was very drinkable and a reasonable price. The desserts all went down very well too. All in all, an excellent evening!

For some reason what used to be our favourite place to eat in Witney seems to have lost its way. Maybe new chefs. The menu seems to have changed to some very NOT traditional food ie new potatoes & sliced carrots in a mousaka?? Very sad for us to see

We dined on 2 consecutive nights, and on each occasion were treated to super flavour combinations - subtle, exotic, warm, deep in equal measure. The menus is extensive and the set meal combinations served us well on both nights; had we been able to visit again, we aould have ventured further into the a la carte, which offerred further tantalising treats. Our host was charming, helpful and friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. It was a real pleasure to dine here, and we really hope to return soon. I would highly recommend a visit and suggest a booking to avoid disappointment.

WOW what a treat! I did not know much about Greek food so I was sceptical but I am now a convert! Service was friendly and efficient if you’re in doubt I say give it a try

13 hungry cyclists could be a challenge, and the local Indian restaurant made a successful attempt to fleece us with the bill the night before so we were on our guard. What a different experience here! We all enjoyed delicious food and helpful service. The staff were very apologetic that my starter arrived later than everyone else's - yummy borek and I was not bothered at all that it took a little longer! I then had a delicious aubergine basket stuffed with spinach and cheese, it was yummy. My friends all enjoyed their meals. Vegetarians and vegans are well catered for here. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. There was a nice selection of wine and beer for those who wanted alcohol. Recommended, I would go back if I return to Witney

We recently visited The Meze Lounge for the 2nd time. It is a busy small restaurant with wonderful Turkish lights hanging from the ceiling.

My wife and I had a banquet special of starter, mains and sweet which was great value for money and very tasty. The restaurant is not too large but is quite welcoming. The staff are most friendly and accommodating. Good atmosphere for couples and parties alike.

We eat at the Meze Lounge pretty regularly, the food is always great and the service is brilliant, the house White Wine is lovely.

We went in a party of 20 and had a selection of food between us ordering on the night. Everything came in good time and nobody complained. The food was all delicious, the service good and the choice is mind boggling - I shall definitely go again on my own.

Very reasonably priced cold Meze starter for two to share was delicious and big enough that had we known we didn't really need to order a main course.

We met some friends for lunch at Mezo Lounge in Witney. It lived up to the expectations set by other Tripadvisor reviews. I chose a selection of hot and cold meze all of which were delicious – my wife and friends chose wraps and they too were delicious – everything was nicely seasoned tasted fresh and even the fresh tomatoes had some flavour (not easy in mid-winter). The coffee was hot and full-flavoured and served in generously sized cups. My only disappointment was that there was no ayran – a lovely refreshing tangy yogurt drink found throughout Turkey – apparently most folk in England don’t know what it is, but given the rising interest in vegetarian foodstuffs perhaps more would be prepared to try if it was available.

If you fancy a great Turkish Meze meal with good quality good and great value for money. Look no further than the Meze Lounge. Great food and great service. A strong recommendation to try this restaurant .

We went there for a meal on a Friday night, it wasn't busy and so service was fast and food was yummy :) wish I lived closer so I could go back!

A great meze at a special offer price for three course at the start of the week. Food was of the highest quality with excellent service, staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Re omens for couples or families. Ample parking outside after 1800hrs.

Lovely food & nice restaurant. Generous portions & reasonable price. One of our starters was wrong & it was disappointing that the staff barely apologised & didn’t seem bothered that 3 of us had pretty much finished eating when the correct 4th one came out. Mains were all correct, but I’d asked for patatas bravas with my lamb (rather than the rice) & they didn’t tell me it already came with potatoes - not a problem as it was all delicious but they just didn’t seem to really care. Nice & cool with the air conditioning on!! I would still visit again as the food was so nice.

We booked this restaurant last minute and they were able to accommodate us. Great environment and good choice of food. I ordered moussaka, which was nice, not the best I've ever had but very enjoyable. My husband ordered sea bass and enjoyed the freshness and simple yet tasty way it was cooked.

Booked a table here on Saturday 14th July, our first visit here, arrived at 7.30pm and served promptly, the food tasted amazing, would recommend the sharing meze platter, we both thoroughly enjoyed it and the service very good, there's so much choice on the menu. It did get very busy about 8.30pm. Will definitely be back again.

Visited here with a friend.and ordered the aubergine and the hummus and pita to start. These were lovely (if not a bit oily but that's a given with Mediterranean food!) Our mains were the Greek salad and some sort of lamb dish my friend had. Portions were huge and he loved his as did i mine. however, i cant eat dairy so asked to remove the cheese and was tutted at by the (who i assume was Greek?) server. She looked at me if i was mad and laughed at me. I felt very uncomfortable and judged. then when she returned with the food she threw it on the table. Later we asked for some sparkling water and she huffed before fetching it. Would return for the food but not for service. A smile goes along way ...

Pre-booked in advance for a family of 9, we are staying in Witney for weekend so we tried this Turkish/Greek and we have a few in Milton Keynes.

Always get a great meal here. Never disappoints. Service is good with a cosy atmosphere and the food is piping hot. The set menu is extremely good value.

Went on a Thursday evening and they had a special 3 course offer for under £14, which was fantastic value. Hadn't gone expecting this and it was pretty much all of the normal menu, so this was a nice surprise. Having said that I would recommend based solely on the food and the service. Fresh and tasty, delicious food and a really friendly waitress. Despite there only being 2 tables occupied, it had a nice atmosphere and we will be going back again.

Booked a table for two. Arrived on time. Lovely dining room and looked forward to an enjoyable meal to celebrate my birthday. Soon after we arrived a few more couples arrived and the restaurant became much busier. Unfortunately, the waitress served drinks and took food orders from the other couples while we waited 15 mins without even being asked for a drinks order let alone food. Sadly, we decided to leave without ordering and instead enjoy the welcome, service and food at Shaan. A real shame.

Came here for lunch today with the family and had the hot and cold sharing platters followed by coffee and baklava. It’s such good value and the food and service is always excellent.

This is a very ordinary looking café from the outside, with a couple of small tables and chairs on the pavement and next to an olde worlde pub. It has a difficult access with a steep step uo and then an awkwardly places front door at an angle. However, once inside you are met by an efficient waiter and there are some tables near a large window. the menu is a combination of Greek and Turkish food and is delicious. Nice quality meat and fresh salads, served with warm pitta bread. Lots to choose from and with quick and efficient service. Good value for money. The only down side, is the difficult access for the disabled. However, the waiter is happy to put a ramp out to overcome the step, but I I think the awkwardly placed door would be very difficult for a wheelchair user.

I bought one plate of meze for myself and it was one of the greatest food I have ever eaten. Totally recommend!

I recently went to a Greek restaurant in Florida. It looked good as there was a very long queue outside. It was OK but not nearly as good as the Meze Lounge in Witney. It just shows that you don't need to go far to find a really good Greek / Turkish cuisine

During a busy Saturday night, we popped in hoping that we could be squeezed in without a reservation and luckily enough they had a free table. food was good and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Finished off with the best Turkish delight bites at the end of the night! .

Just visited here for lunch. Have been in the evening a few times. Never dissapoints. The food is always freshly cooked with quality ingredients. We had the mixed kebab - every type of meat was really tasty and cooked to perfection. The owner and chef Taruk always takes time to make us welcome. This place is one of the best in Witney. It can get busy in the evening so book in advance.

The meals at Meze L&R; are very very good. I would recommend to anyone. However, Deni's in Bicester do all just a bit better: cloth tablecloths and napkins, complimentary bread and houmous with a buzzer atmosphere. With a few tweaks, Meze Lounge could be perfect too.

We had a great meal here. The cold mezze was delicious and generous. Our mains were beautifully cooked and perfectly spiced. The wine was decent and reasonably priced. The service was friendly and efficient. We'll be dropping by again.

The Meze Lounge has never failed us in providing a lovely meal. We have been coming here since they opened on many occasions, family, friends and work. The menu has a great selection, always something different to try and plenty to satisfy all palettes, freshly cooked, well presented and served by great friendly staff. Can’t fault them.

Our first visit to this lovely Greek/Turkish restaurant was mid week, arriving at 6.30 it was quiet but soon filled up. We were a party of three adults and two children, 13 and 10 and we all chose from the reasonably priced three course set menu. We had tasty starters and delicious main courses followed by balaclava with fresh fruit. The half duck with orange sauce was especially good and plentiful. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and the pleasant, helpful staff and good atmosphere means we will certainly visit again and try from the extensive main menu.

I ate here with friends on a wet and windy midweek evening. The service was warm and friendly although the place was relatively empty. The choice of food should be enough for anyone although for some reason I couldn't see any taramasalata there which I was quite looking forward to. However the food we chose was excellent and couldn't be faulted, you certainly wont be left hungry that's for sure. It's well priced and there was also the opportunity to chose from a three course set menu, available Monday to Thursday I would guess, for £13.95 is great value. Worth a visit for sure.
