An unpretentious old-fashioned pub; a rarity in Oxfordshire now. The cask Hooky is always of superior quality here and a good price

Such ashame ordered our meals, one came and was eaten before the second meal came, it was not cooked properly. Very disappointed. There were apologies but as a couple we like to eat together not half hour apart. There was no wine either! Shame. Would not recommend.

Watching the football game on TV. Decent place with beer garden. They do baps or sandwiches from the shack in the garden during the morning. Neglected by hook Norton brewery. Yearly maintenance due. But overall good experience. Small pub with selection of draughts. Crisps for bar snacks. Large car park. Parking next to the fox. Small parking next to beer garden.

It's a run down dump of a place. As i walked in a young guy who was walking out stared, too long, straight at me. As I stood at the staffless bar, waiting for service it dawned on me that the young starer was probably the barman. I waited, nothing. I then got a phone call and took that as devine intervention that I should go elsewhere. So I did. Avoid.

This little bar is basic but packed with friendly locals. Bar tender was friendly and helpful. There's a great choice at the bar, including some lovely local ales and lagers. Really reasonable prices too. We enjoyed a couple in here.

A proper pub, you don't see these places too often. It's basic, small and comfortable in the best possible sense, and I immediately felt despite being a stranger. The barman and other customers are friendly and the beer is very enjoyable. There is a small beer garden, with a large outdoor TV, so it's great to go and watch football and enjoy a nice beer.

We visited both nights for drinks only on our weekend away and enjoyed ourselves. The service was good and the beer was spot on. They show sport here (even have a screen outside) and we were able to catch the Derby at Epsom. We liked what they had done to the garden. It was more of a pub than a gastro pub but we liked that.

While I enjoyed the food I was shocked and horrified to see the chef pet and clap a customers dog then go back into The Shack and never washed his hands. Some time later he rubbed his hands on a tea tea towel. Previously I’d seem him flatten a burger for a customer using the palms of his hands so was horrified to see this. No adherence to basic food hygiene standards!!! Sadly this spoilt what had been till then a pleasant evening.

This is a pub. It's a small pub, a town pub. It doesn't change much over the years thank goodness. It serves a small local clientele and a few occasional visitors like me. The brewery is Hook Norton so the ale is fine. If you've never been to an English country town pub before do try it because, if you're open to absorbing the unique Cotswold ambience, you won't be disappointed. You'll be the richer. Ask about Aunt Sally.

This is located on a street parallel to the main street so a little off the tourist track. That said there were other 'out of towners' who had sought this pub out and I can see why. Very well kept real ale and friendly service. Good atmosphere throughout the pub and even in the garden, where a group were playing Aunt Sally. We really enjoyed our time there and will go again when we are in the area.

Dropped in for a quick pint before heading home. It was immediately obvious that this was a traditional town pub.. Dart Board inside and Aunt Sally in the Garden. Rugby on the TV. Very warm welcome and a perfect pint of Hook Norton Seasonal (Inspire). Very friendly locals as well, we were offered to share a table tow watch the Rugby, but alas we didn't have time. Interesting food option with a large pizza oven in the garden.

Having family down the day, it was difficult finding somewhere open for food at 6pm on a Sunday. The vegatetarian option was good as were the fish n chips. The rump steak was sliced and chewy for £20.Pity they do not offer a decent sirloin for a few pounds extra from the only butcher in town. Not planning returning especially with desserts at £7.50.Nice atmosphere.

So glad we found this place, it's a real gem. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome by the staff. Great selection of drinks (do try the Japanese Whiskey). The food, whilst towards the high end of pub prices was excellent, worth the cost, the ingredients were fresh, well cooked, and the waiting staff were super polite and friendly. Best of all the have a gorgeous dog named Biscuit. Any pub that has a dog is bound to be a good pub!

The restaurant was grubby and tea pots dirty. The cooked breakfast was good, but the continental was no different to a Premier Inn. The staff were slow and forgetful, and we had to remind them we were still waiting for our order to be taken and our tea to come. Refills of coffee were not offered. No courtesy shown on arrival at breakfast, just asked for room number.
