Good value, good food. We had burrito with beef and with chicken, both were really good. Guy serving us was very friendly and welcoming.

Our new favourite takeaway, love Mexican food anyway and York was crying out for a good one like this. Burritos are always tasty, packed with fresh veg and meat. Good value too! Love it!

Burrito was absolutely delicious

Ok for fast food, food not really Mexican And it is far too expensive for the provided. Coriander is definitely missing. The "protein" for vegetarians is grilled, rather mushy vegetables. Refried beans are also missing from the beans. Don’t try the Nachos! The guacamole as extra is expensive There are a few seats at the bar in the room. Otherwise you can eat on benches in the neighbouring square The staff was Not very enthusiastic but grumpy

Tasty, big portions, good value

I never would've thought I'd like a Mexican restaurant in the UK this much, but this place is convenient, delicious, healthy, and affordable! The service was great and when my burrito was handed to me, I was shocked at how heavy it was! They don't skimp on the portions, unlike some other make-your-own Mexican places (I've heard Chipotle is getting a lot of heat for that). Here, you certainly get what you pay for. It is fresh and full of flavor. The only potential con is the lack of seating. This place works great for takeaway, but there's not much space to sit in--only one table with stools--so if you're looking to sit down, this isn't the best place. I would certainly come back!

The best fast food in York, and I'm not talking about the greasy and saturated kind of food we often find around. I'm talking about fast food, but healthy, that meets all the requirements of a balanced meal. I love the fact that I can customise my burrito to my liking, adding quality meat, fresh salads, and a delicious cheese they have there, making each meal unique and tasty. I'm a fan of this restaurant and cannot recommend it enough. I've tried the whole menu: Tacos, Nachos, Quesadilla, sandwich, and loved them all, but the burrito is my favourite. Besides this place serving healthy, fast, and high-quality food, they have an incredibly affordable price. All the other options in York that serve similar Mexican food are much more expensive and do not give you that feeling of being 100% satisfied, like having eaten my mum's Sunday meal, which brings comfort and satiety. Another thing to add is the exceptional service; the staff are very friendly and helpful, always ready to assist and ensure your experience is the best possible. I highly recommend this place and go back whenever I can or also order through the Deliveroo app, as it is one of the best options for quick, healthy, and delicious meals I've found in York, a real gem.

Had a Burrito, I can't wait to have another, made me feel all warm and gooey inside. Really good food.you pick your fillings so no surprises.

Best Mexican restaurant I ever have been. There are just 4 seat in bar. But I and my son enjoyed food so much. I truly recommend biritto bawl. Thank you.

- This place is a solid 5/5, but there is no such thing as perfection. So trade-off here: I must put 5 stars but I cannot due to pure logic (if 5 existed we would have a irl Ratatouille movie) - I've had a blast interacting with the owner, and a question came. How has his restaurant not shut the mcdonalds across the street down!!?? - Service review: great service offering and explanation from the boss. He broke down his menus, prices, and portions clearly. - Product review: I took a burrito and did not even hesitate after comparing across the boss' service offering. The burrito sits at £8.6 approximately and is worth every penny. I'll go even further. - Profitability ratio review: great taste and ballades among different accents of flavours from various ingredients. Great stuffing/filling (I did not finish the burrito and am 182cm & 80kg: challenge me). Conclusion: overall I feel like the boss is a reconverted ex massage therapist who uses his cullinary passion and expertise to massage your British palet.

Tasty food but the guy who served us was really grumpy and unhelpful. No greeting, no "thank you" on payment - he almost seemed annoyed to be there. The menu also advertises your choice of "protein" in your burrito, but when I asked what the options were it was chicken, beef, or pork. There's no protein option for vegetarians or vegans (why not just say "meat" instead of "protein" if you're not gonna cater to vegans?), so I ended up having a vegetable burrito, which to be fair was fairly substantial. As the card reader was wordlessly slid towards me, however, I noticed that my order totalled £10.45. When I asked why it was more than the £8.45 advertised on the menu (a screen which changes back and forth so you've gotta be quick to read it) I was told that the guacamole was £2 extra and he pointed to a separate corner of the menu labelled extras. It seems a bit harsh not to mention this when the guacamole is sitting in a container in the middle of all the other included fillings and is unlabelled. The burrito itself was quite tasty, but at nearly 11 quid for an all-veg burrito - from a guy who comes across as he doesn't want to be there - I doubt I'll go back anytime soon.

Perfect place for lunch! Don't be tempted by Macdonald's across the road.. Mexicano has super fresh and tasty ingredients and tastes very authentic. Loved it! Their £4.95 sandwich is crazy good value.

Nachos were total junk. The server was completely pissed off and stomped away to get a carton of cheese sauce and plopped this jelly like stone cold cheese over the cold nachos and cold toppings. Foul. Tacos slightly better but out of so many ingredients and sickly sweet salsa.

Absolutely buzzing with finding this place today. They did the tic toc style Doritos so the boy was happy with that and my burrito was packed! Guy serving was spot on too. Will be coming back

Bland with nowhere near enough seasoning. My soggy quesadillas stuck to the paper at the bottom of the bowl. Not that there was any difference in flavour.

When I went to Mexicano after seeing the reviews I genuinely assumed I had gone to the wrong place. A quick Google Location check told me I was where so many reviews had told me I’d find authentic and flavoursome food. What I found was dry unflavoured meat (it may have been chicken, beef and pork) but to be honest it all looked like something you’d temporarily fill pot holes with before the guy with the tarmac truck finally finishes it off properly. Ultimately the burrito was ok. The ‘loaded’ nachos were ok. The real issue was the insult I had seemingly caused the staff member by having the audacity to order food and pay for it. I’ve never felt more unwanted or generally annoying as that guy made me feel. He threw it together like an Amazon delivery driver onboard his last trip of the day. I really did feel like the last time he’d laid eyes on me was when I had made a curse against his family. Something I’d like to say here and now didn’t happen. Ps the guac tasted what I imagine formaldehyde does.

Huge portions and the burrito was delicious😋

Nipped in here on Wednesday evening, the food was amazing. The meat and all the salad (toppings) were really tasty and freshly prepared. Best Mexican we’ve had in ages. We got a pork burrito and beef quesadilla, both banging! This will be our go to now if we want to grab something quickly in York!

Being from Texas, I've been dying to find a good Mexican food place and this is it! The food is almost exactly like you would get back home. My boyfriend who is a local even said it was the best burrito he's ever had. Absolutely fantastic! I'm so glad i found this place and I'll definitely be making this a regular spot for lunch!

There’s not a lot of room to sit inside but we happened to get 5 spaces in the window. Amazing food and a good selection of pop. The guacamole was awesome.

I had a burrito, which on the menu starts at £7.50. I had a few extras that took the price up to £14.90! This, I feel, is very expensive for a takeaway burrito. It was nice, but I think the price on the menu should be more realistic of the price.

On a cold and wet Saturday, York was busy and had walked past this gaff . Decided to get a take , little selection . Amazing , food was tasty , highly recommend.

Honestly the best burrito I've had, the guy behind the counter was nice and the atmosphere was nice too, only a small restaurant though so seating might be limited, it's not too far from the square so you could sit there.

Twice now I’ve ordered from here. Received either half my order or the wrong items. Food is great but if you can’t deliver the right items it’s useless

My partner and I's first time going in, they explained how to order and the service was excellent, everyone had smiles and was really friendly and happily joking with us and really engaging us. The food was like nothing we've ever tasted before, the absolute best burritos we've ever tried and the staff's recommendations were what really made it, love place overall and will absolutely be coming back, it's worth travelling for as we're not local! Easily one of the best. I had a beef burrito with guacamole - absolutely delicious. Really tasty shredded beef, lovely fresh guac with plenty of coriander 👌 All the salad ingredients were really fresh and tasty. Good price considering what you'll pay elsewhere. Will 100% be back next time I'm in York! Or you guys could open a store in the North East???? 😉

I regularly get my lunch here as it is very close to my work, the staff are always friendly and the food is consistently excellent.

Hot food should be that.. hot.. no point otherwise.. If you go abd pick up you might get hot food would not bother ordering delivery as it will be cold on arrival..

Have been sceptical about using these due to a few negative reviews about cold food. I love Mexican food, so finally decided to give them a try. Very pleased I did. The food was really nice, plentiful and arrived hot. Will definitely be ordering again.

Love this place , normally really great food. This order wasn't a fair representation of what they normally do. Burritos was hot and ingredients weren't as fresh as normal. Tasty enough but normally really great. I would order again but maybe switch back to pork instead of beef in my next order.

Ordered beef nachos. Delivery was quick but absolutely stone cold. Tried to phone to ask if it was a mistake but no phone number given. Very disappointing and I’m very hesitant about using this firm again.

Bought a chicken Burrito, I would like the say its the best Burrito iv had in the UK. Beautiful and will be making another visit when back in York.

The food and delivery time were decent but we were missing food and drinks from our order which was disappointing.

I ordered a burrito and the tacos, the burrito was a bit mushy but ok flavour. The tacos were to die for! So much flavour and textures- the pickled red onions I added were amazing. Slightly messy if you get sour cream but worth it!

Great price and quality. I recommend it if you're looking for tasty food on the go! I loved mixing and matching with ingredients and there was great choice. The place itself is very small but don't let that put you off.

So basically I think the need to update the hours of the venue! Basically the food is great however getting there when it's actually open is a different story some nights myself and my partner finish work around 10:30-11pm Google Sat's its open but we arrive to find its been shut some time! I would suggest cook more food to stay open or update the opening times if you can't commit to what us stated!

The tacos and burrito made me feel ill, something in there is way too greasy. Not sure if it's the meat either, tastes really sickly. I got jalapenos but there were only like 3 stuck together in the very middle of the burrito. Really disappointing. Not worth the prices at all. The good reviews must be bots or something, no way does this place have such good reviews with food like that.

Ive ordered a few times from Mexicano now and its pretty consistent. i'm only submitting this as an addon to my previous "review", rather than writing about the food once again as nothing has changed, its still great, other than i've ordered multiple times at this point and as stated, its been consistent. I'm glad the first order wasn't a 1 off. Well worth giving it a go if you haven't before.

Great food, great service, great value! Give this place a try instead of loveless McDonald’s across the road , you won’t be disappointed!
