Waited in the queue for 45 minutes and repeatedly told to wait until 5pm. When 5pm came we were then told to wait even longer as they needed to make up tickets…. That we already had. Definitely would not recommend. As part of advertisement for the event they said they were showing the rugby. The game kicked off 20 minutes before we were even let in. Do not rely on this pub for any live events. Shocking

Amazing place to drink downstairs. Really good bar staff who knew about whiskey and suggested some new ones for me. Will go again and try the food upstairs next time. Not what I expected at all this side of Old Street but pleasantly surprised. I wish there were more bars like this where they care.

If you’re ever looking for a spot in the city that feels like home, beyond The Auld Shilleagh, Gibney’s is the place to go. The bouncers take care of you rather than just watch you, and the bar staff could easily compete for the best in Ireland, let alone London.

Kind of fun, unless it’s full of puffer jackets with their bags on. If it’s very crowded and full of bags it’s too busy. Toilets are a joke. Always a queue and disgusting. Guinness isn’t good enough to make up for its shortcomings.

Good Guinness, but the toilet facilities were a problem. By this I mean theres no urinals, which means men have to queue up to urinate. I've always felt sorry for women that need to relieve themselves, when theres a queue to even get in the ladies, in busy bars. Now I know what it feels like. They could have better Guinness than Dublin, but when I've twice had to go to the pub over the road because there was a line in front of me I'd rather any of the other good pubs locally.

A few lads and I went to watch a rugby match. Ambience was really nice - TVs everywhere but not everywhere, so that you can see a TV from anywhere, but don't feel like you are surrounded by TVs. Their house stout is also really good. HOWEVER, the sad reason why I am not giving 5 stars: it's a sports pub, yet they did not have wings. There were sausage rolls, charcuterie, and other snacks though.

🚇 Old Street 🍺 £6.65 Guinness Gibney’s is located just south of Old Street roundabout close to Bunhill Fields. The nearest Tube is Old Street, it’s a couple of minutes walk to get here. This Irish Bar opened in March 2020 and sits beneath sister restaurant, Daffodil Mulligan. The bar is run by the Gibney family who own “Gibney’s” which is one of Dublin’s most celebrated pubs. You enter the bar through a door to the right hand side of the restaurant and head down some stairs to the basement. The servery is located on the right hand side and stretches down the length of the bar. Opposite the servery are some cosy dark wood booths with red leather seating and TV’s. There is plenty of seating throughout with poser tables up the middle and banquettes around the perimeter. There are also a few large screens for watching live sport. The beer selection offers a diverse mix of familiar favourites, Irish craft beers from @ryeriverbrewingco and @5lampsbrewery , Gibney’s own Stout and of course Guinness. I decided on a Guinness, my pint was excellent, price point was a little high. There is a Bar Snacks and Sharers menu if you’re hungry, dishes include Korean Pork Bites, Cauliflower Bhajis, if you want to push the boat out, there is a Suckling Pig to share costing £96. I arrived around 1pm on an overcast Saturday lunchtime in March. The pub was fairly busy with a few different groups, some solo imbibers and some lads sat at the bar. The atmosphere was upbeat with Irish folk songs and 80’s rock classics setting the backdrop to the ambience. The service was top drawer, the chap behind the ramp was on the ball and having the craic with lads at the bar. This Bar shows live sport including Rugby, Football, Horse Racing, NFL and all major sporting events. There is also Live Music, Acoustic sets and traditional Irish Trad nights. Visiting @gibneys.london was a very enjoyable experience. The hospitality was warm, the @guinness was great and the setting a place you could easily loose an afternoon in. No Irish pub gimmicks here, this place is definitely worth a visit. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 16.03.24

Went in for the England game on Sunday, and honestly just for the hosts attitude, autonomy and respect for their customers. I have to leave this 5 star review. There was a small group making the biggest amount of noise about the commentary prior to kickoff to the bar staff, but credit to the team in Gibneys, they handled it with extreme professionalism. It didn’t ruin any other customers night, and it was just all round good craic, good Guinness and spectacular food. The burger is absolutely to die for. DO NOT GO HERE TO WATCH IRISH RUGBY. Called them 3 days before, they said walk ins were available. They said bookings weren’t available and it was walk ins only. Arrived and they said it was fully booked. Terrible experience!!! Go to Feeney’s in Bank/ Monument. Great atmosphere, walk ins and an authentic Irish pub with great people, rugby and atmosphere :) Edit: Gibney’s responded to my post. If it is first come first served you need to tell people that!!! I asked on the phone multiple times how I could come and enjoy the game and was just told ‘walk ins are fine, you’ll get in’ Terrible experience to be told something on the phone, when I’ve done everything I can to book, and then turn up and be told I can’t come in. If people have to arrive early and walk ins are limited you need to tell people that!!!! I arrived well in advance of kick off (30 minutes), if I had known walk in weren’t available after a certain time I would have arrived even earlier

Gibney's has been recommended so many times by so many friends and colleagues that expectation was extremely high - perhaps too high. I also have to compliment the very friendly bar staff who were helpful, efficient and both funny and attentive.

The bar manager is astonishingly rude: belittling and condescending especially to female clients and unnecessarily rude when asked for simple advice. I came in when the bar was quiet and asked if they were booked up for the rest of the night to which he told me yes but that I could sit at the bar: I sat at the bar, ordered, and got up to check the timings on the other empty table bookings in case I could sit there until the bookings came up. The bar manager shouted at me ‘Love, I’ve already told you they’re booked up’. All night, he was condescending and rude, when the bar was not busy, he told my party we could not stand in a specific spot or place a drink on an empty table that did not have a booking for hours when the whole place was as still empty. The rest of the bar staff was lovely!!! Really speedy service and helpful!! But the bar manager was consistently rude and honestly, so condescending. I never do this but I would genuinely never recommend anyone to go here.
