Mestizo is one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants I have been in London. Went with a couple of friends for lunch and we mainly ordered mole and enchiladas. The dishes were nice and appetizing, and the portion was good. It is not cheap for Mexican food, but considering the quality, some dishes can easily justify it. Only downside is that the food was not hot, but just warm, which felt it was reheated. The atmosphere was also fine, with a welcoming ambiance. However, the service could be improved. The staff were friendly, but they do not seem very aware when manning their tables. They took our order almost straight away, but it took ages to get the dishes cleared and get the bill as the waiters were hanging out next to the bar. A relatively small thing, but worth mentioning. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for the food, the atmosphere and a friendly service, but hope they can improve their efficiency.

Mole was ok. Good generally was alright. Not value for money. Service was moderate. Staff were polite and friendly.

I was really looking forward to visiting Mestizo after seeing that they serve tamales that are suitable for vegetarians as tamales in Mexico are made with lard mixed into the maize. When we got there l thought l'd best double check with our server that there was definitely no lard in the tamales, he didn't really understand what l was saying so he sent someone else over. The new server then went to the kitchen to check and came back to tell me that the tamales do contain lard! So, not suitable for vegetarians after all and it did make me a little worried about the other dishes that have the vegetarian sign next to them. The food that we did have was delicious (though the main course was delivered before the starter) and reasonably priced.

We had an amazing meal yesterday for my sister's birthday. We have been served by Juan Carlos, who recommended great dishes. His service was excellent! The food was delicious, the music was very cool and there was a very vibrant atmosphere! My sister and we loved when they wished happy birthday to her! We can't wait to come back!

Went in a group. Some of us waited over an hour for our meals. The others had finished theirs. I was loosing my appetite and when it arrived the chicken was so dry as to be almost unpalatable. Tacos that others had were lovely.

Absolutely love the food here. The location is great and omg the food is great!!! Chips and salsa is great. The enchiladas verde are PHENOMENAL. my favourite Mexican restaurant in London for sure. There are nice sharing tacos as well. Obviously the Margs are lovely too - lots of different flavours as well. Would definitely recommend for some authentic Mexican food!!! Cool vibe too. Make a reservation as it gets quite busy.

My wife cried because it made her think of her mom’s home cooking (she is from Puebla, Mexico). This is the unmatched best Mexican food in London.

Shockingly slow service, as one of a group seated, we waited from 6:40pm to 8pm only with drinks to clutch as we waited for our starters. My starter was mixed up so waiter clearly did not pay attention because I served something I hadn't even ordered, but I ate it because I was starving. I hoped even making a light joke of it, but with a stinging comment which I honestly think went over their head that service would pick up, sadly not because although orders for mains were taken quick enough but my mains did not arrive on the table until 1 hour 7 minutes after I was served my starter. In this day and age, where a restaurant with such a prime location in the city and on a Friday night couldn't get their act together because there were 10 waiting staff on the floor with 2 behind the bar and yet orders were significantly delayed, so a grave element of poor organising service table by table and other groups that had walked in after us were been served before our group. I could see the way 4 waiters hovered by the till for they knew they messed up and looking back as they did in our general direction. With regards to my mains I had ordered a chicken dish POLLO ARRIERO now I found the vegetables too firm, and I honestly think the old school trick of frozen then steamed to serve undercooked, too much seasoning in the sauce, chicken was fibrous, so bit chewy, bit the only saving grace was my drink..Lowland Magarita. Overall, very disappointed so would never eat here again!

After reading all those good review we booked a table for 4 . On arrival our table was given to a couple but soon after we got a table . The food was very disappointing with no salt I wanted to go out and buy some salt for the chef and ask him please taste your food before u send it out all out dishes no salt bland . My main course prawn was horrible chewy. I choose prawns because I thought it’s an easy dish but omg terrible . I am not making things up I am very honest and disappointed . We decided that never again . If u think that we paid 45£ a person for two courses and 4 beers it’s an easy. pass . How did it get all those great review is beyond me ?

I absolutely love this place. The staff are so kind, helpful and welcoming and I go there regularly. It is such a great atmosphere and the drinks and food are amazing as well. I would highly recommend it to anyone!!

Been here once before with my family and loved it. Tried to phone multiple times to book a table today, the first time no one answered (fair enough) but the other two times I called someone picked up and put the phone down on me. We tried to walk in at 6.15 as two people and despite there being only a handful of people seated there we were told that they couldn’t accommodate us. We tried to explain that we tried to call multiple times to book (even showing our phone to prove this) but the staff were incredibly unhelpful and rude, not even apologetic in the slightest and we left vowing to never return. A shame the service is so poor as the food is great

Wonderful, traditional Mexican food. Great Mexican cuisine is not common in the UK. Mestizo is one of the exceptions. Highly recommended if you want to try something beyond tacos and burritos that you find in the Mexican fast food chains. Those are good here, too, but they have much more to offer.

Food was a bit bland and simple for the price; it lacked finesse and there were no garnishes or any extras - just meat and tacos. For £18 for the main dish, we expected a lot more. Disappointing.

A long time favourite. I used to come here with my best friend who is sadly no longer with us and had some amazing memories here. Recently revisited for my birthday and while it was emotional it was also as wonderful and delicious as I remember. Only problem here is choosing what to have as it’s all incredible, and so amazing to have somewhere to go for authentic Mexican dishes.

Hands down our favourite Mexican in London. The drinks are top notch, try the Jalapeno margarita. Expect a lively atmosphere and give yourself ample time to enjoy the food.

It’s hard to find Mexican food this good and authentic in London. I got the enchiladas de mole and they were fantastic, plus we split guacamole and a pitcher of classic margaritas for the table. Staff was attentive without being overbearing, the food came out SUPER quickly, and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. Will be returning!!

My husband and I dined at Mestizo for the first time last Friday evening. The food was brilliant, staff attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was buzzing. I took my qualified working Guide Dog and the staff were very welcoming towards us. Highly reccomended!

Booked this restaurant on a whim- close to Euston and suits all dietary requirements of the booking. My goodness it went down a treat. The service was fantastic, as were the drinks (extra spicy margaritas) and food. Thank you to the gorgeous staff member who ran down the street to give us some take away food. We will be back and we would 100% recommend.

If you or anyone in your party has allergens or food restrictions, this is a great place My friend is very sensitive to garlic and onion. As you can imagine this is a very difficult restriction when eating out. The staff at Mestizo were incredibly accommodating, and went above and beyond to ensure that my friend was welcomed at their restaurant and enjoyed her meal.

I have loved coming to this place for many years for the restaurant, Cancun nights on Thursdays, and market. I came this weekend and was disappointed by the quality and quantity of food compared to before. The quality of meat and the flavour/spicing was off. Tacos al pastor lacked flavour, overcooked chicken with very little mole sauce, salsas picantes didn’t taste fresh. I don’t know if there’s a new chef/recipes or what but it’s a shame.

Whilst wish I tried more from the menu what I did have was very tasty! Great place for good solid Mexican food with a great vibe and super friendly staff. One to recommend if your into Mexican cuisine

Really authentic and vibrant Mexican restaurant. Staff were lovely and gave us some recommendations when requested. You get all the margarita options and a big range of food. There's even a shop next door with a great selection of chilli sauces.

Had high expectations based on reviews. Food was tasteless, and lukewarm, for 2 people we had a starter, taco sharing board, which included 12 little bowls. 4 chosen protein based toppings that had almost no seasoning, 4 bland sauces and 4 small toppers. The starter recommended by a waiter who advised against ordering two starters and sharing board, was ok-ish but basically cold. And we ended up ordering extra food in the end. The service was pretty bad. The waiter unable to answer questions in regards to menu. He also shouted over us to communicate with all tables near us. Very little space between tables, feeling like you're sitting with strangers, not enough space for a waiter to pass through without putting their elbows practically in your face, or to put your coats so they also were in a way and landed on a floor whenever someone needed to pass by. Overall great idea, but reality rather disappointing. Would definitely not visit again.

We were served by Adriana today and had the most wonderful time celebrating our fourth wedding anniversary. The food was delicious, just as I remembered my old childhood neighbours making for him, and the service and reception were warm and inviting. We will definitely be coming back again.

Probably the best Mexican food I've had in London, and I've been on the hunt for good Mexican cuisine. The food is good, authentic and flavoursome. The location is nice with two floors and plenty of hustle and bustle. The staff were all incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive. I think my quest for good Mexican may just be complete ! Great spot !

Great food, great atmosphere, great service. We ordered the taco tray to share between three people and it was more than enough. They had a wide range of fillings that were suitable for vegan/vegetarians that all tasted amazing!

I went to the bar and left my jacket in the closet. When I went to get it back, they had given it to someone else. The staff treated me very poorly, had me waiting outside, freezing, for almost an hour and did not resolve the issue. They had me waiting the whole next day saying they would find the person who stole the jacket and finally ended up buying me a new one which is what I asked from moment 0. Terrible service.

I’m confused by this place because the first time I visitares, the food tastes extremely complex and delicious. However on repeat visits I have found it a little bland, im unsure if it’s maybe just the vegetarian meals that are like this, or if other meals are similar. However the atmosphere and service are lovely, and the menu is super varied so I will be returning to try again!

There was a 2 hrs time limit, so we were being rushed. Most of the waiters were very good except for one, beared one, who was being difficult. This was our 3rd visit but this 3rd time was the worst. Not sure if we will go there again.

I came in as a large group for my birthday. Nothing was missing from our table. Adriana was our server and she was so helpful and nice. Great experience!! Will come again. Also great to see a lot of vegan options in a mexican restaurant.

I've had better Mexican restaurants before, it was also very busy and noisy.

Chose this restaurant because I needed somewhere near Euston at short notice, to meet my daughter. The reviews were really positive. It was an early evening booking (5.15) and the place was very quiet when I got there. I eat out a lot in a variety of restaurants and have been lucky enough to taste some great Mexican food in the past, I wasn't so lucky this time. The waiter strongly recommended the molcajete sharing dish so we got the chicken version. Less than 2 minutes later it appeared on the table, which was a bit of a surprise, which would have been ok, but for the taste of it. It was not good at all, the chicken was stringy and tasteless, the chorizo overly strong and it was bitter. So not a great experience for us. Maybe we made the wrong choice, but we both agreed it wasn't good. Definitely no return visit for us.

A great taco experience. It was great to get all the ingredients do you could construct your own. A great way of trying lots of different combinations. They also had an incredible selection of tequila.

I highly recommend the restaurant, the people are nice and food very good, the drinks as well! I didn't give the highest rating possible just because, on the night of our booking, there was a huge and extremely noisy group in the room which made the conversations in our party almost impossible without shouting, and that was very annoying, but when this group went away, the ambiance was perfect ;)

We loved this restaurant! The food and ambience are great and you can tell it’s an authentic Mexican restaurant which adds to the charm. The prices for food and drinks I think were reasonable and worth while. They do a really great birthday celebration if requested (won’t spoil it), but everyone claps along and was generally a great evening. Only regret was not going into their shop next door to buy something! Definitely will be returning one day :)

There is an old Mexican woman in that place who yells at the guys who work there, a Honduran woman who was polishing glasses and cups and a very nice Argentinian guy who was at the bar. They told me the name of the woman, she has green eyes, a waiter but I don't remember the place was full I left my backpack on the seat with my things I ordered a michelada and the woman accused me that I wanted to go without paying and a few things she told me they should get that woman out of there the clientele is running I for For my part, I will never go to that place again just so as not to see the stupid face of that abusive woman who not only messes with the staff that works there but also with the clients, she looks at you badly and she walks with her stupid face... Seeing you as if you are going to ask for Hay's things for free, the manager I think is a man with glasses, a good person. All the boys except that old woman, I will return to the site the day they vote for that Hay woman.

This review regards our meal on Valentine’s Day. Venue was very busy so I think the staff done a good job of coping. Nachos to start were good. For Mains we shared the Taco board. We had Chicken Tinga, Chicken pibil, A mashroomy one and courgette. The courgette one was foul. Disgusting. The pibil was ok. The mushroom one wasn’t terrible. And the thicken tinga one was insulting to Mexican cuisine. My mum who’s Scottish by birth, loves Mexican food, makes an amazing tinga, funnily enough sometimes buys raw materials from their store connected. There was no punch, no flavour. The corn tortillas weren’t very good. The Cocktail was nice however it was daylight robbery. £60 for a pitcher of cocktail that claimed to be 1.5ltra but honestly didn’t even hit near 1litr. Absolutely gutted to have picked this place. Will not be returning. Wahaca was miles better which is sad to say and almost trashy.

My friend and I went to Mexico for a month years ago and really wanted to get good Mexican food in london. We ordered Mole which is one of Mexico’s best dishes and really delicious dish but it was probably one of the worst meals I’ve had in london in years. The chicken was DRY. The rice was broken and DRY and basically the scrapings of the bottom of the barrel (I’m Chinese I know what that looks like) and we didn’t even RECOGNISE the mole sauce. The dish was 18 each and so so bad. The service was awful and our salad didn’t come for about 40min after asking twice and them saying it’s ready (another 15min…). I wouldn’t have paid a fiver for that let along 18! Not sure why this place is popular but it’s for big birthday groups who want sombrero and a loud cheer not authentic Mexican food.

Not really understanding the hype around this restaurant unfortunately. Travelled all over Mexico a few times and really don’t see the authenticity… margaritas are nice however food was utterly disappointing namely the Tingas and al pastor tacos. Not to mention, our server was quite rude and dismissive…. It was a real shame! Super overpriced. Won’t be returning which is such a shame as we are obsessed with Mexican food!

My wife was treated at UCLH for a RARE cancer and whilst she was being treated there, we visited this amazing authentic Mexican restaurant. On Valentines day we revisited the hospital to donate the money raised from the charity I set up in her honour. This was my Valentines gift to my soulmate. I had to re book whilst being in London, so the only place I could go was this amazing restaurant. I can not tell you how special it was for me and my beautiful daughter to sit there enjoy the unbelievable food, the truly loving atmosphere, and remember my time there with my late wife. Daniel the owners son was touched and felt our journey. What a true gentleman. He is a credit to his parents and the restaurant. I will 100% be back when I am next in London. Thank you all for such a special evening.

Incredible Recommendation! We will be visiting again for sure. We met an amazing Mexican man at the Market who recommended the restaurant and larger shop. Extremely glad that we went and would recommend it to everyone! They even have vegetarian and vegan offerings which is great! We had some really great dishes and cannot wait to try more of them! Great presentation, welcoming atmosphere. Loves the empanadas!! The food was yummy but was lacking spice, some places salt. Could be just my personal preference. Otherwise, loved the taco tray!

I was very disappointed with the food, especially the pozole which was watery and didn’t have pork, which is the traditional meat that goes with it. Also the sauce for huevos divorciados was watery and insipid. The buffette menu included unlimited Jamaica and horchata water jugs. I wanted jaimaica an my friend wanted orchata but the waiter refused to give us both saying we needed to finish the Jamaica jug first before bringing us the horchata one! I definitely do not recommend.

I came here with my family and Daniel served us. He was attentive, speedy and very friendly! The food was delicious and as always there as a fun atmosphere. I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.
