Coffee not as good as previous visits - not as strong and too much milk. Fancy milk design on flat whites failed. Lasagna was good. Fish in nice batter with tasty tartar sauce and mushy peas. Chips were pretty really poor - to the point of burnt and soggy.

We stopped in for cake and coffee and we were so happy! Enter to find some lovely little shopping areas, with interesting and unique items and clothing. Then follow the delicious smells and find the lovely restaurant area. The menu looked varied and the dishes we saw being served looked very nice. We only had coffees and cakes but they were gorgeous and politely delivered to our table outside. The outside area, though next to the road, was hidden enough that the road was not an intrusion at all. Seating was comfortable, offering both sunny and shaded areas. Parking was easy, with a number of spaces wrapped around the building. A lovely place for an outing!

Visited today for Sunday lunch for the first time very warm welcome and lovely food all home made.syrup sponge was moist with lots of syrup and the custard was nice and thick ,would recommend and will be visiting again

Couldnt belive it were on lock down and was driving by i know they do take away meals at weekend but they had a delivery from turner and price and the delivery driver was unloading there order and on it 2 boxs of frozen mashed potato really realy how hard is it to peel a potato and make mashed potato totally dissapointed shocked when it prides itself on being fresh sad

great place to eat food is varied with good selection of meals including vegetarian. staff are very good service is also excellent, you can even buy all sorts of stuff while you are here. if you want a sunday dinner then book as it's busy so phone first, they also state that their kitchen is not nut or gluten free. would go back here again without a doubt, really nice place in good surroundings.

We had a fantastic meal the service is very good and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend The Old School for lunch or just call in for coffee and maybe one of ther wonderful cakes and while you're there have look round the shop

The Lunch on Christmas Day was superb, Great service nicely prepared and presented. It was great to have the table as long as required as their was only one sitting - hence no rush. The whole room was well setout, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, we were very well looked after. Overall a fantastic meal in an excellent setting. Congratulations to all the staff who gave up their Christmas Day to look after us.

Popped while visiting the are. Made most welcome by the very attentive staff. Brought a high chair and books for Great grandson to sit in and play/read books. The food was lovely and so was the coffee, will definatly visit again and highly recommend. All the staff made a fuss of my Great grandson top Mark's all round 👍

Group of friends booked a table for Sunday lunch. We were impressed with the quirky venue (converted old school), the pleasing layout, and the food provided. Interesting and pleasant presentation. Only adverse comments would be that the waitresses struggled to get the order right and that the specials on the blackboard were on theme, but not that obvious to first time visitors. We enjoyed our visit.

Came for lunch with my wife, we had the chip shop afternoon tea. Wow it was fantastic what a great idea, I have never seen anything like this before, iam sure it will be copied elsewhere. There was enough for two people but if you’re a big eater then get one each, you will not be disappointed. First layer was pie gravy and chips, layer two was fish chips and peas, and the final layer was sausage, fritter and chips finished with curry sauce. Well worth the price. We visited Messingham Farm Shop and Cafe for lunch today as a group of six friends. We had reserved a table, and we given a nice table in the corner with plenty of space to spread out and relax. One of the best things about this restaurant is the staff; they are friendly and obliging and did not rush us to order - we were busy chatting and catching up with our friends. The building has been beautifully restored and converted from the old village school into a modern restaurant and retail area - well worth visiting if only to view the building! As others have said, the food is a little more expensive than other restaurants and the menu is rather limited. We ordered fish and chips, lasagna and smoked salmon sandwiches with chips for our main course, and cakes from the cold display for dessert. They were all beautifully presented, but a little disappointing in quality - hence the four, rather than five stars in this review. Many thanks to the staff for looking after us so well!

We originally went for Sunday lunch when passing 2 weeks ago, it was lovely, so we decided to book for fathers day. We arrived and had our order taken, the soup starters we lovely, but the garlic mushrooms were cold and tiny, and when i say tiny, 3 button mushroom cut in to quarters and covered in a luke warm cream sauce, that needed seasoning. Then a child's Chicken main, the chicken was so dry that even drowning it in gravy wasn't enough, now we were offered a replacement but we had been restricted to 1 hour and 30 minutes for the table so we didn't bother, then 2 beef and 2 pork lunches... The beef I had was tasty, but 1 very thin slice and a slither of a bit, with 2 tiny roasties, watery cabbage, under cooked carrots and brocoli (2 florets) and 2 soggy bits of parsnip, the Yorkshires were lovely. The pork lunches again the meat was extremely over done on 1 and the seasoning on the outside was peppery and unpleasant. As for the drinks especially the apple juice, a non brand, 200ml carton for £2.35. We left before being ripped off any more, £82 to be left extremely disappointed and hungry. I feel they did the usual catering greed for father's day... Get em in, and out, and make as much money as possible for people wanting to celebrate with their family, it not only left our party hungry, but left a proverbial bitter taste. As a positive the staff and setting are lovely.

Have visited three times in as many weeks with different friends each time. Love this place, tasty meals, scrumptious cakes. Wonderful welcome by husband & wife the owners. Very relaxing atmosphere in lovely surroundings. Steve obviously a jewellery expert could say which countries where two of my rings originated from. Very interesting & informative added to the enjoyment of the visit.

I have been here many times, sometimes for Sunday lunch and others for coffee and cake with friends. It's a little bit more expensive than other places but the proprietors are lovely and very friendly. They have worked hard to get to the standard they have now. The Bakewell tarts are to die for! I'm going next week for an afternoon tea and have high hopes!

Came for breakfast with 4 other friends. After reading such good reviews we were all actually extremely disappointed. We had a long wait for food and they forgot one of the orders. I ordered a full breakfast with poached egg. The egg was more hard boiled than poached. Expensive for what we all had. Sorry to say we won't be going for breakfast again.

My husband and I went to the Valentine’s Day meal and we had a lovely evening. The food was of the highest standard, the trio of desserts was amazing. We were made so welcome by the owners and the service was speedy and efficient. A really great place for a family meal or a party and the breakfast is one of the best around. Already looking forward to my next visit.

We had our Sunday lunch 4 adults a d 1 6year old boy.

Nice quirky place but food mediocre. Weekday lunch - Chips were served uncooked returned them and came still uncooked! Sandwich bread was very thick but dry. Tried the sunday roast dinner also but again not great meat was tasty but Yorkshire puddings non existent really just blobs on a stick and tasteless - gravy to thin and very plain.

We've visited here a couple of times for lunch and also just popped in for a coffee, the service is always great and the staff extremely friendly and welcoming. The food is freshly prepared and good value, wouldn't hesitate to recommend, our favourite place in Messingham.

Great place for Sunday lunch. Food is fresh so be prepared to wait. We didn't go for a starter this time but will do when we go again that way the wait doesn't feel too long. Excellent surroundings. It does get busy. But not in a negative way. Place is relaxing feel and a place I felt at ease and happy to be. I would recommend booking if you want to go for Sunday lunch though. They do breakfast and lunch menus which seemed reasonably priced. I will be going again to see what's on offer. Sunday lunch is definitely a winner and do recommend you give it a go. I was tempted to try all of the desserts as they looked great. The strawberry ice cream was a favourite around our table. They had antiques on show and there is also a boutique shop to much whilst waiting. Brilliant concept, great atmosphere and fantastic food, topped off with happy friendly service.

The best Sunday lunch I have tasted in a very long time. The ingredients used are obviously fresh and good quality and the meal was lovely and hot. The staff were all very friendly and we will definitely return to this delightful little place again.

Took family out for lunch. Top quality service from the minute we walked through the door. Home made soup and me a sandwich, the Brie and Mushroom Tart and the Chicken and vegetable pie were all of excellent quality and plentiful. Well recommended.

Have had many pleasant experiences in this well modernised old building; a chance to sit in pleasant, bright surroundings to enjoy coffee/beers/snacks .... each week 'rounded off' with an excellent sunday lunch.

The last time I went here we walked out as there weren't enough tables to get a seat. Things have changed dramatically and now everything is well set out. We just had tea, but it was well presented in a pleasant setting. There seemed to be a good selection of cakes.

Excellent food and drink in unique lovely surroundings which used to be an old primary school which I attended as a child. Tastefully renovated from school to cafe keeping many original features. Staff very friendly and professional and what a nice friendly man the owner is making you feel very welcome. An ideal place to meet your friends for a chat and coffee or something to eat.

we returned after long illness Jo and Steve were very pleased to see us made most welcome. The food is top notch so much to choose from any choice wont disappoint, you really not must visit this charming Café 1906.we really love this place.

Visited with my mother and daughter for a Sunday roast. It was delicious! Service friendly and food brilliant.
